Rally to Restore Sanity in Anchorage — Photos
So here are some of the photos from yesterday. The weather was actually good, with a beautiful blue sky. It was a nice gathering and exactly the right length–one hour–so that no one got TOO cold. John and Heather Aronno (leaders of the Young Democrats and bloggers on Alaska Commons)
Of course, the best part is always the signs. As you can see above, I had to let a faithful Mudpuppy lead us off!
Great pic of our Shannyn (surprise guest speaker) and John Aronno, co-coordinator of the rally with his wife, Heather.
Food not bombs…a worthy sentiment and some awesome soup and rolls!
The Brothers Begich (Tom and Senator Mark).
Some of the crowd listening to the speakers at the rally.
Incredible, dynamic speaker whose name escapes me. (Feel free to help in the comments!)
Randy sports a McAdams button.
Yes, my husband can stand toe-to-toe with Scott McAdams!
Scott McAdams talking to a young man.
Sanity according to HP Lovecraft.
Harry Crawford, running against Don Young for US House
Dogs for sanity! (Yes, that’s our Derek!)
Brace yourself for more cuteness…
Getting a ride from big bro!
thanks for the Wasilla pics Linda. i am glad you had a nice turnout and the day was beautiful for you also.
Take a peak at Sitka’s rally. Go Alaska!

We were all there in spirit and with peace in our hearts. Go Mudflatters. Go Democrats. Go Scott. Go Joe – back to Kansas, or anywhere that will take you. Just go and leave the good Alaskans in peace.
Oh… looks like a great gathering!
Thank you for sharing with all of us rally-less Alaskans !
Nice to know there are so many good, rational people who just want to get along and then eat!
Speaking of sanity , would someone PLEASE tell Joe Miller to shave that crap off his face he looks like he fell face down in a cowpie
“Gnomes for Sanity” – gotta love it!
Great pics, hope you all had a great day
Lots of love from scotland, where its cold too.
Someday, Fiona, I’m going to get there…
You will be made very welcome
It WAS a good rally! I finally got to meet my hero, Linda Kellen Beigel. Ever since the Baby Eddie photograph, I have admired her from afar and finally got to shake her hand and give her a hug! It was neat seeing Scott McAdams there. He IS a teddy bear, isn’t he!!!!? ( I already voted for him)
The rally in Washington was excellent! I liked Tony Bennet and the Seven Year Old Girl the best.
From there, my fellow revolutionaries joined the Union PIcket at the Hilton. The turn out was very good! We froze but NOBODY QUIT! Lisa crossed the picket line though…….too bad….so sad….
Wonderful! (We were ALL together, in spirit!)
Great photos. Way to go, Wasilla.
Thanks for the doggie photos Linda. They are the most sane of all of us.
The Alaska Democratic Party says that the mailer by the Republican party stating the Democratic Party has retracted its support of Janet Reiser, is categorically false. Not correct. Inconsistent with truth. False.
It will be addressed on the ADP website by 11:00.
Great coverage Linda! I attended and was very appreciative of your dedication with the camera. You talents never cease to amaze me.
A little off topic but AKM I am a little surprised to see the ad for Richard Postma on the site? Have there been other inquiries about this that I’ve missed? Anyone want to talk about it?
I love HP Lovecraft’s sign. That’s not so easy off the tongue in a rousing chant, but it works for me!
I heart every Alaskan that showed up for sanity.
Nice turnout for a cold day! We stayed in and watched the D.C. rally on TV and online (had to boost those ratings). Our daughter in Berkeley was watching online “with us.” Too bad all the folks nationwide at rallies and online could not be counted amongst those supporting the rallies. Heard that there were rallies worldwide. So cool and encouraging.
Seattle had a nice turn out – didn’t hear an official type number, but the one I heard was several thousand. From the photos, it looked like it. And it wasn’t a very nice day to be standing outside.
Great pictures. Thanks for sharing.
The “Incredible, dynamic speaker whose name escapes me” is Kokayi Nosakhere.
What an awesomely cool name!
