https://secure2.convio.net/sierra/site/Advocacy?cmd to ask our President to move beyond oil. I’m sure many of you have received the email from http://www.350.org regarding the forthcoming “line in the sand.” If you’re planning on attending, please bring some wheatgrass to cast on the waters. It helps the sea creatures energetically heal from the depredations they’re suffering (I’ll be bringing my biosonic tuning forks also, too).

    Health and peace.

I’ve been working on creating a “Joe the Neighbor vs Fencetrocity” photo essay, but the props are time consuming. I decided to knock off a quicky plastic mayhem episode with a little help from some friends. The fencetrocity episode isn’t slated to be finished until the middle of July, when I have access to real lake/forest scenery on a camping trip.

Does anyone know why Shannyn’s show is a rerun today?

  6. OMG says:

Oops…that’s supposed to read “What’s wrong with America’s right”

  7. OMG says:

Take a look at this week’s “The Economist” cover (small image: http://www.economist.com/printedition/). The title is “What’s wrong with American’s right”. Some of our favorite characters are pictured in this Wonderland: “Alice’ Palin with a gun shooting a donkey, Rush as the White Rabbit, a voodoo Obama stuck with pins in a cuppa BP, someone (I can’t tell who) wearing an Uncle Sam Hat with the words “NONSENSE 24/7” on the brim, and a very sly FOX pocking his head out of a tea pot. You’ll need a larger image to fully enjoy. Hey the articles inside are interesting too!

    • aussiegal77 says:

In other words – the laughing stock of the world.

It’s one thing to be ridiculed for standing up for principles and facts. There is no honour in being “persecuted” for being incompetent, greedy, ammoral, opportunistic and delusional.

    • OMG says:

I finally figured out who the Mad Hatter is–should have been obvious with “NONSESE 24/7” on the hat but it was the tear that gave it away for me.

  8. The problem with those interviews with Palin is that we all get it that she has nothing of substance to say, nor does she say it in any form of English that is recognizable, but the people who only listen to Fox have begun to think of Palin as normal. They have nothing to compare her to because Fox doesn’t bother to do their homework that shows she is lying or at the least, misinformed (or uninformed).

That’s the scary part – she doesn’t get it, and neither do her followers.

  9. fishingmamma says:

She was appointed to the oil and gas comission and she quit.
She was elected governor and she quit.
She ran for vice-president and she lost.
    Heckuva resume.

    • lilybart says:

and wasn’t she only appointed as a consolation prize because Murkowski gave his daughter the Senate seat instead of her? Not that she actually .knew anything.

  10. Baker's Dozen says:

    News flash!
BOR sets softball on batting tee (or is it tea?). Palin strikes out!
I think it’s good that BOR gives Ms. Palin softballs and watches her be unable to answer them. This is on her station by someone with her political leanings. When people are hard–or even medium–on her, her fans rally around to protect her from the bullies. We all knew girls like this at school, who got all kinds of consideration for no reason. But, if she can’t answer the soft ball questions from someone on her side, then it begins to sink in with some of her supporters that she truly has no clue.
You don’t have to pitch to someone who can’t hit a tee ball to know they can’t play in the majors.

  14. jimzmum says:

Sarah is doing a “Military and First Responders” thank you in VA. I keep getting moderated when I post the links here. Here is the deal. There are a couple country music people also too. Everyone has to pay between forty-five and one hundred twenty-five dollars to get in! Some thanks, huh? I sure hope this doesn’t tip over into moderation.

  15. ks sunflower says:

Is this being actively investigated or addressed? If not, do we need to write or call to get things started?

    • BuffaloGal says:

I’m not sure KS – It posted yesterday afternoon on Truthout and today seems to be getting traction over on Twitter.

  16. BuffaloGal says:

via Truthout – New Documents, Employees Reveal BP’s Alaska Oilfield Plagued by Major Safety Issues

    http://www.truth-out.org/documents-employees-reveal-bps-alaska-oilfield-plagued-by-major-safety-issues60470

**** According to internal BP documents obtained by Truthout, and after interviewing more than a dozen employees over the past month, the Prudhoe Bay oil field, in a remote corner of North America on Alaska’s north shore, is in danger.

After two serious oil spills and other mishaps, the BP employees fingered a long list of safety issues that have not been adequately addressed, making the Prudhoe Bay oilfield vulnerable to a devastating accident that potentially could rival the havoc in the Gulf.

“The condition of the [Prudhoe Bay] field is a lot worse and in my opinion a lot more dangerous,” said Marc Kovac, who has worked for BP on Alaska’s North Slope for more than three decades. “We still have hundreds of miles of rotting pipe ready to break that needs to be replaced. We are totally unprepared for a large spill.” ****

  17. Irishgirl says:

She looked and sounded insane in that interview. You could see that BOR was sick of her and he just let her go on and on. When he asked her what she would do to fix it, I thought she was going to blow a gasket. She was furious with him. 🙂

    • aussiegal77 says:

Right cuz heaven forbid she NOT be allowed to just bloviate and spew idiocy without being asked for alternatives. Yeah, let’s just let her go on and on about how much more experienced she is than the President and NOT have to prove it in any way, shape or form even if it’s one, just ONE alternative tangible solution that makes sense even a little bit. That would just be criminal. Imagine being asked to back up your experience with actual…..results or solutions! The nerve.

*rolls eyes* She is a moron.

    • BuffaloGal says:

In the Bill O interview, what in the world did she mean by ” the proverbial ” unreturned phone call ?? Did I hear that right ?

Even though Bill was rolling his eyes and he did push her on the ” what would you do about the spill ” thing, I think he was still soft with her. If she couldn’t handle the questions in her own Fox territory there is no way she’ll survive outside of it.

I read an article yesterday that said more and more right wingers are refusing to deal with anyone other than the right wing news outlets. Not a very bold bunch, are they ?

      • Baker's Dozen says:

Heh. Perhaps the FOX is in the hen house–and revealing that there’re no eggs!
Once the hen proves she’s unproductive, she becomes Sunday dinner. 🙂

  18. Lacy Lady says:

    Rene—-thanks for the link.
I don’t know how O’Rielly could keep a straight face during this interview. My God!!!! She slaughtered the English language. I think that she just thinks she is the “oil” expert. But the bottom line, is that she is dumb as a post.—-Good laugh for the day!!

    • aussiegal77 says:

Every time she says she’s an expert, she immediately erases all credibility by losing her mind when being asked to elaborate on said expertise. OR she immediately something really stupid to again, drive home the point she is a complete idiot.

  19. Rene says:

    Double take (Tina Fey) alert
    http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,594753,00.html

Is she whitening her teeth while giving Bill an interview? What’s up with the stiff lower jaw and lisp sound. Enunciate device perhaps? Can someone please interpret, I hear wa was in the background?

At some point. I really have to wonder if some clever Fox person is sitting there laughing. Once they pick a serious Repub candidate, they will have all this footage… Yikes.

    • VTJen says:

At some point, here on the mudflats, a mudpup explained the side effects of anti-psychotic drugs; e.g. big tongue, stiff jaw, lisping. Maybe this is the cause.

      • Polly says:

Maybe part of the reason, she didn’t release medical records. We think it has to do with pregnancies, but it may be mental health consults, that she doesn’t want leaked.

        • Dagian says:

I bet it’s due to an Axis II diagnosis that she does NOT want the world to see.

    • Dagian says:

I wonder if he gets hazard pay for interviewing her? I think anyone who tries to get a straight answer out of her (and succeeds) deserves a bonus.

    • BuffaloGal says:

Here’s the transcript for those who would rather read it than watch. ( i did both and didn’t care for either )

      http://www.foxnews.com/story/0%2C2933%2C594753%2C00.html

      • Dagian says:

PALIN: Stopping the gusher. That’s the No. 1 priority of the nation.

O’REILLY: But nobody knows how to do it.

PALIN: We need to make sure that all technology is being thrown at this problem.

O’REILLY: Nobody knows how to do it.

Dear me…not to mention how this woman is STILL referred to as “governor”. Not “Mrs. Palin”. She’s an EX-governor, so she doesn’t get to keep her title. It’s NOT like when you become a FORMER president for crying out loud.

The title of president should not be applied anachronistically. For example, when referring to the period before Former President of the United States Bill Clinton was elected president, he would be referred to as “Bill Clinton, the Governor of Arkansas”. Referring to the period after he left office, he would be described as either “President Bill Clinton” or “Bill Clinton, the Forty-Second President of the United States.” The title “Mr. President” is for the life of the person who has held the office.

        • G Katz says:

Yes, but I also wonder, when are we going to stop the gusher that John McCain created a couple years ago?

        • aussiegal77 says:

“PALIN: We need to make sure that all technology is being thrown at this problem.”

Oh RIGHT! Yes, gosh, we HADN’T THOUGHT OF THAT! THANKS for pointing that out! Phew! I can sleep well now that Palin is at the helm!

          *rolls eyes*

        • strangelet says:

This is nitpicking, but you have the title protocol backward. A former (but not current) government official is referred to by the highest-level title he or she held. In the US, there is an exception for former Presidents (and VPs), because of the concept that there is only ONE President (or VP) at any given time. Former Presidents are accorded the title of the highest-ranking office they held other than POTUS.

In exact 18-20th century diplomatic protocol, Bill Clinton would now be referred to as Governor Clinton. Weirdly, Sarah Palin would be referred to as Governor Palin.

Strict diplomatic protocol didn’t have provisions for elected officials quitting halfway.

Now, actual usage does change. For one thing, almost nobody who wasn’t at least a Governor or US Senator or a judge actually gets referred to by that title, unless “former” is also used. Secondly, we do tend to give our Presidents a lot of respect, and so there has been an increased tendency to refer to former POTUSs as “President”, even without the “former” modifier. Certainly, this is not a big problem, since at any time the entire inventory of current and former Presidents is small enough for almost everyone to keep things straight. But, just as an example of how this differs from diplomatic usage, no one would now refer to “Prime Minister Tony Blair”.

But, you are wrong about “Governor”. Former Governors are addressed as Governor, whether it’s Governor Richardson or Governor Hickel or Governor Palin — although perhaps Doonesbury’s “mini-Guv” would work better.

In fact, I’m rather looking forward to see how the Cali media is going to handle interviewing Jerry Brown, who they should properly address as Governor Brown. That should provoke some kind of interesting response from the Whitman camp.

      • jojobo1 says:

Me either. She couldn’t even keep watch on her own state to keep the oil companies in check maybe because her husband worked for them????She may have worked with the oil companies but she knows nothing about how to stop a leak such as this. What did she do about the leaks on the tundra? Not a thing as far as i have read.Bill O gave her soft ball and never questioned her about the leaks in her own state.

    • I could only listen to a little of that drivel. But, yes, she does sound odd. I know there’s a time delay in her hearing the question, but on a few of them, you can see her struggling to come up with an answer. And did she seem more jittery than usual?

    • Baker's Dozen says:

      Attention Ms. Palin:
President Obama isn’t a CEO. He is president of the United States, which is a democratic republic. If he were a CEO in chief, this would be a capitalistocracy.

Thank God the founding fathers knew the difference between our form of government and our form of business. If you read the Constitution for understanding, you will see that this is true.

    • fishingmamma says:

      My ears are bleeding……

  20. Rene says:

Thanks Aussiegal77- At some point, the man can only do so much. With the extreme right and the extreme left where is he to go???? And then we have those annoying ones that are like dogs stuck to the President’s leg. At some point, the man just needs a break.

    • ks sunflower says:

I agree. President Obama did not create this crisis or any of the others he inherited. I think it is amazing he is still sane considering the pressures and number of messes he is dealing with so early-on.

    • aussiegal77 says:

Once, just once, I want him to do a WH briefing and just go OFF on all the idiot journalists asking idiotic questions!!

“Really? You want to know how angry I am? I have to resort to theatrics to please you pundits that I am not a cold hearted elite professor? Do you have ANY idea what kind of shenanigans I have to put up with on a daily basis? Never mind the Tea Party threatening my life, the lives of my wife & my children. I have every Republican out there calling me a traitor and they STILL expect me to autograph their copy of my book. Liberals want to flay me in the public square unless I just punch people in the face every time we disagree.

I’ve got the Religious Right just cold out to destroy me in any way possible even if they look insane, the Left can’t make up their minds between swooning over my so called Compromises or wringing their hands if I even TRY to stand up for my beliefs then I have Sarah Palin every where I turn, on Fox every other day ranting like a crazy person and SHE is the one that I have to go up against in 2012??! Really? Really??!! Can I just once have a WORTHY opponent? One that speaks English well, knows the Constitution and isn’t hiding behind Flag and God to distract from their complete lack of moral compass, depraved greed and utter incompetence in all things that matter? Is that TOO MUCH TO ASK??!! Thank you, no more questions. Gibbs, take over.”

UGH. Which is why the man is President and NOT ME. hahahah

      • Irishgirl says:

Aussiegal, I loved that rant. I’m still stuck in the spam dungeon, relying on AKM and Snos to pull me out when they get a chance. It’s horrible, I feel like the kid missing out on all the fun.

      • OMG says:

Well said. If Obama loses the next election (to Palin…shivers….) he’ll have his own party to thank for throwing him constantly under some motorized vehicle or other. He got health care for the country but did not get the public option so they dislike him…he isn’t having public tantrums and has not personnlly stopped the oil leak so even James Carville has a bone to pick with him… People in the US need to give their heads a collective shake. He is not Superman but he is one of the best Presidents the country has had and has actually accomplished more than is ever reported.

People around the world view America more positively than they have in decades because of him which is needed to accomplish international goals and secure the safety of American citizens. Oh well, he hasn’t solved all the problems in the country in less than two years and the economic recovery is moving slower than everyone would like so…off with his head!

        • jojobo1 says:

What I don’t get is how they expect him to stop the spill.no president could not even bush and friends. The oil companies have the expertise.they are the ones that know or should know how to stop this.Makes me wonder if they aren’t trying to save the well instead of closing it.Something to think about

    Dreamgirl–

Well, I could deliver a treatise about the likely “whys”, but it wouldn’t change a thing.

The older I get, like some crispy rock’n’roller (winking at Mick) getting ready for a tour, the more “conditioning” I need to get through the school season with health and sanity… to be a marathoner rather than a sprinter (admits the once-upon-a-hurdler)

Beautiful blue waters in Homer, AKM. No wonder Shannyn chose Blue for her Painting Alaska project, eh? Good morning MudPups! Today I will see my Big Bro, with family, off to surgery. (stage 4 cancer).

It’s a bit hard for me to comprehend after my own “hardship”(aka- broken neck),( Mothers DO have favorites as I’ve found out.) and no one was there for me while I am so there for my brother. (btw, he wasn’t there for me either).

Somehow I am fine. (limited head movement, head only moves so far left and right so I can only drive short distances, no expressway stuff as I can’t turn my head far or fast enough to change lanes).

I wish I knew why I care more than I’m cared about. Pity party? No,(maybe) that was a while ago, I just don’t understand. Why is one child cared about more than another?

I still want my Big Bro to be O.K. He’s my Big Bro and my only Big Bro.

    • twain12 says:

i don’t know, i’m fortunate that i never had to experience that….sending big hugs

    • who me? says:

More hugs to you Dreamgirl. I know what you are saying and I don’t have any insight into the ‘why’ either. It sounds like you handle it with grace and by following the Golden Rule–treat others as you would like to be treated. That is good. So, more hugs and best wishes for you and your brother.

    • aussiegal77 says:

Wishing your brother all the best and a speedy and full recovery.

    • I’m an only, but my hubby is the 5th of 6 children. And I’ve never understood why some of them were more favored than the others. But they are. I just try not to do the same thing with my own daughters. I hope they both feel like they are the favorite one – because they are, just in different ways.

I hope your brother is OK, and that you are as well. A broken neck is serious stuff. Any chance that your mobility will improve with time?

    • boodog says:

Dreamgirl, you care more because it’s who you are. Good luck to your brother, he has a wonderful sister that cares what happens to him.

      • Baker's Dozen says:

i say amen to that Bakers. Dreamgirl is a love. i am glad she popped in to tell us how she is.
Dreamgirl i am wishing the best for you. i too have issues with my cervical spine and don’t drive for that reason. take it easy hon. life is good.

    • Carol says:

That you care more for people and family reflects positively on you and that they don’t care as well as you do reflects poorly on them and not on you. It is a sad fact, I hope you can accept it and continue to give love and if it’s not returned, don’t let it diminish you. Hopefully you can find love and support elsewhere. It has got to be the hardest thing in the world to need love and it not be given freely. I recently read Fannie Flagg’s “Can’t wiat to get to heaven”, book asks the question “What is life all about, anyway?” Answer the book gives and I keep repeating, “it’s a gift.”

    • jojobo1 says:

I don’t know either. From my point of view I think it is about the need rather than being a favorite. Prayers and blessings along with goodwill go out to you and your big brother.

    • Zyxomma says:

Big hugs to you, dreamgirl. To answer your question, mothers have their insecurities and issues, too, and (unless they’ve worked on themselves), don’t get past that. I have 2 sisters, 1 deceased brother, 1 stillborn brother, and 1 miscarried brother, and mom dumped all over me because I was dad’s favorite. I really was in for it when he died in 1968. She did her best, and before she died, let me know she loved me (as best she could). {{{{{{{{ dreamgirl }}}}}}}}} and I’m sending healing your way, for you and your loved ones.

      Health and peace.

There are many trite things that can be said, but please know you have it in you to get thru one day at a time. I hope you will keep us posted on your’s and your Bro’s progress. Best of wishes, good thoughts, energy.
