Open Thread – Become a Fan!
OK, you’ve been asking me for years (literally!) now, and I can finally tell you yes! Brian the Moose, our Mudflats mascot has a fan page on Facebook.
Brian himself does not have opposable thumbs, or fingers for that matter, so I set it up for him. I’ll be adding pictures and status updates as they are warranted. Right now, there are a few photo albums including Brian with famous persons and politicos, Brian out and about, and special events and holidays. Seeing Brian in a Peep Easter bonnet may be worth the effort alone.

Although I cheer..at the ..life of Brian (sorry Monty..these things jus ..happen..)..becoming a wider ..informational gem.. FB..is something I chose not to do. That said..for all who have a deep-kinship..with the assorted animal life..in the great outdoors..how about..spending an..additional 30 min..seven days of the week..looking out..for all those excellent lifeforms. Can be by simply going out..and becoming more informed by what your local critters are doing, surviving or ..being backed into as to fading habitat. It might be taking out the earbuds so as to actually..Listen..to the wild. So then..I am guessing Brian will be..uplifting us, educating us..over the months to come..as his life unfolds..and..informs us all Good work..yes it is. 🙂

Did the Facebook for a few years when it was first available but don’t do it any longer. Still nice to hear that Alaska has an ungulate ambassador on the social networking beat.

Saw this little tidbit on a political blog…. Am sure there will be an in depth analysis forthcoming….

Isn’t that about 5.7% – or for every dollar donated to SarahPAC less than 6 CENTS went to other candidates. OH MY……
Yay Brian! AKM, I don’t do FaceBook, but if I did, I would “friend” him. FaceBook, or not, “Brian” and/or his collective being will always be a special friend to me. 🙂
I just saw an ad on television and I don’t know whether to laugh or be offended. I must admit, my first reaction was to laugh out loud because it just looked so completely bizarre.

Brian and I like a lot of the same foods. (Yes, I eat rose hips.) Glad he’s on FB. Boyfriend’s son just posted photos from the wedding he attended in Mumbai this month.
Such a handsome fella…he’s bound to get lots of friends once the word gets out!
Way to go , Brian ! Now he can start commenting cleverly over on $P’s wall of shame. How silly are the mods going to feel when they are faced with deleting comments made by Brian the Moose from Alaska. ha!
Speaking of Facebook – In passing I notice that my daughter had posted a link to a magazine piece and mentions that she is in it. I figured it had something to do with a short film project that she was recently involved in but, when I open the page, I find it’s her in a fashion photo shoot. I had NO idea !

She’s the one in the blue and yellow sporty jacket , also in the Mucho Macho tank top and then in the black jacket with the burnt orange cropped top.
A few weeks ago she mentioned she was meeting with a photographer but I thought it was just for some fun head shots for her portfolio. When I saw these I didn’t even recognize her in the first moments. So weird !

Found it now – my page was greatly expanded and I didn’t see anything on the right side until I shrunk it down a bit – thanks Pat!
Great idea to give Brian his own page – he has certainly earned it! Call me slow, but I cannot find a link on either Brian’s page, nor The Mudflats’ page to become friends. I’ve been friends with AKM for awhile and the link is readily available on there. Am I missing something? I did click on the Like button, but nothing happened to indicate a friend request was being sent.
Deer hunting started this morning (rifle, bow has been in for awhile) so traffic will be heavy all over this part of Kentucky and I’m sure I’ll hear guns going off all day. Nearly lost one of our horses a few years back due to someone with *poor eyesight*, several neighbors have lost cattle to hunters through the years, so let’s hope only deer are bagged this season!

i am bringing Fawn’s comment to this thread because i want to discuss the curly tail bulbs.
Fawn’s comment made me think again about buying those bulbs. if any other pups have knowledge about them please respond. i must attend to urgent family matters today but i hope you who have experience with this product will chime in:

can’t agree on the new bulbs.
studies have come out in europe about the relationship between the “flickering” of the bulbs and migraines/immune disease onset, etc.
when i have the time i’ll post some links.
suffice it to say we haven’t done our homework on the long term health effects of these new bulbs.
and i am one of those who suffer from their use.
I once had a neighbor who was sensitive to EMF. I took forever and lots of doctors visit to narrow it down. This lady could tell if I left my florescents on in the bath that shared a common wall with her house. When I moved she was wearing a lot of copper chains and jewelry which seemed to help. She also felt better if she wasn’t home since we had high power transmission wires about a 1/4 mile away.
Since I knew her I’ve had some conscience of the issue and remember that the Los Angeles DWP does some work on this issue. Here is the page with links to the CA agency that is also studying the issue.

Europe seems to be way ahead of the US on a lot of this stuff. For instance, my camera from Sony has a “sensor” on the front that tell when my hand has grabbed the camera and it wakes it from “sleep” mode. The European model does not because it uses an electronic sensor. Hmm? I also recall that Sweden was way ahead on EMF and had the strictest standards for CRTs. Tube monitors are notorious for their emissions as are TV sets with the big tube. Maybe Mom was right about sitting back from the tube.

So glad to hear that you are still able to communicate with us, despite the state of stress, distress, and undress. Have a relaxing glass of vino, get a good night’s sleep, and don’t worry about things that you can do nothing about.
Thanks Bubbles – glad you clued me in on what our lovely lady’s status was/is – as I was certainly worried! I hope you have the family matter well under control now.
I did go back to the other thread and read up on these new bulbs and am following the conversation here as well. It is amazing how advanced Europe is in so many things that we should have been aware of, and involved in, for all of this time on this issue. My daughter has nothing but the new curly-tails throughout her home and has had migraines for months, something totally unheard of for her in all of her prior years. I’ve now alerted her to this possibility. We have them throughout most of our home and have noticed a difference in our utility bill, but if there are physical hazards associated with their use, then they’ll be disappearing rapidly!
Does anyone know if our new-found friends from D.C. (the McFarlane Clan) have joined the Mudflats? William Price has posted some excellent photos on his Facebook page from the Rally and there are several with them, but we don’t have names for them, so if anyone can help identify them, please do.

Sorry AKM i am to slow to keep up with the social forum stuff. I have not the time to follow everything all the time.But in my eye you is the best and i want a Brian as my hood ornament on my truck. No i mean as a small figure not real sized.Lord knows i have come close.
