Did you see this? $owah PayMe was photoshopped into the Alaska Sarah Palin TLC show!

    I love andy borowitz.

Oh Lisa, tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

Sarah Palin lacks the “Intellectual Capacity” to be President.

Hee hee – just watched some of the Twit’s Adventure to Nowhere. Heard from a friend “I had no idea she was so whiny!” so had to check it out. Well, I did have an idea how whiny she is, but now I find there really is no doubt. So many things to say, but since so many things have already been said I will only add one thing.

Whiny. She takes all the mystery out of her whiny. Now all that is left, more whiny at a whiny level all her own.

I have volunteered with this organization for seven years now. There is nothing as rewarding as helping someone believe in themselves. 🙂

amen. when i think of the children who have passed through this tiny apartment and the meals i have prepared for them. when i think of the laughter and the tears. the small and large confidences. all these years later i can hear them. i have watched them grow up and away from me. i have seen with my own eyes ‘my kids’ graduate from prestigious universities like Emory, Harvard, Brown, Yale and others. my heart overflows with joy when the phone rings and it’s one of mine wanting me to come to bless the new house, the new baby and to sit; to listen while they prepare a meal for me. or i answer my skype phone and on the screen is a little one i have never held but who knows my name and calls me auntie.
or when when i am invited to Rome and am seated on a fifteenth century throne in a palace to have my picture taken.
when i say one must be committed i know of what speak. i can look back now and smile. i have been blessed in having those children pass through my hands and take their rightful places in the world.

        Bless you, Bubbles.

And thank you AKM for the link – I was a Big about 30 plus years ago in Seattle. Maybe someday again.

      • That was one of the lovliest things I have read in a long while….. just beautiful. Thank you. Those children were fortunate.

  7. bubbles says:

to become involved with children not of your own blood is a very serious matter. it is a wonderful, loving thing to do but it takes commitment over the long haul. the commitment can and most likely will last for years. children are not dolls that can picked and put down when we find another interest or a new job in another state or a romance and marriage and children of our own i admire you and your husband. the child you are sponsoring is very blessed. thank you.

    • Baker's Dozen says:

My uncle was a big brother for years when I was a kid. When my family visited my uncle, he showed us around town, and his Little came with us. He was about my age, and we had a great time. My uncle passed on a couple of years ago. I wasn’t able to go to the memorial, but family said the Little Brother was there. They’d kept in touch all those years.

Obama’s New Children’s Book, ‘Of Thee I Sing,’ Honors 13 American Icons

…….“The 31-page book, for children 3 and up, will be released Tuesday by Knopf.

In it, the president asks questions of his girls while offering something of a history lesson about figures like George Washington and baseball great Jackie Robinson. The book opens with, “Have I told you lately how wonderful you are?”…….

“Royalties from “Of Thee I Sing” will go to a scholarship fund for children of soldiers killed or disabled”

My husband is a Big Brother. He spends every sunday with his “Little”.They do whatever his Little wants to do, he sets the agenda. Some times it is something as simple as take our dog for a walk,& then get some thing to eat.It is pretty simple to be a “Big Brother”.You show up,every time you say you will.Doesn’t really matter what you do when you get there. You show up, when you say you will. That is the magic.

    • OMG says:

That was great. I can assume that this type of Palin joking/bashing goes on at Fox quite a bit. Sadly they’ve helped create the monster that may soon be too strong to defeat. Then again, if Palin can be defeated, Fox is the one organization that can do the job…let’s hope that they take the challenge.

      • bubbles says:

Thanks Irishgirl. that was hilarious. i don’t watch Flops Snooze but since it was you who posted i gave it a go and damned near collapsed. the panel was gobsmacked.
here’s a tidbit from the New Yorker Magazine by the author Nancy Franklin…please go see for yourself. thee is a magnificent art piece of Palin and peeps a la The Sound of Music.
        ***************************************************************************************************************

there is the fundamental problem that some of us don’t want to see or hear any more of her than we have to. And there are those whose objections have a physiological basis as well as an ideological one: the pitch and timbre of her voice, the rhythms of her speech, her syntax, and the way she coats acid and incoherence with cheery musical inflections join together in a sickening synergy that distresses the listener, triggering a fight-or-flight reaction. When Palin talks, my whole being wails, like Nancy Kerrigan after Tonya Harding’s ex-husband kneecapped her: “Why? Why? Why?”

          • Hope says:

I think this Fox clip is kind of rude, what happen to the “stick together” concept? Maybe there is some truth to the saying, “keep your friends close and your enemies closer.” Question here is who are her enemies? I didn’t watch because I think her celebrity/political focus overshadows the beauty of Alaska. I have seen some clips and it is amazing. This could be a great for Alaska travel. Makes me want to visit.

Sarah does not bother me as a celebrity. Michelle Malkin and Ann Coulter can retire. Just do that, leave politics alone and be happy/funny. I don’t think she believes half the things she says to get a rise. She had 5 million people tuning in last night (even those who don’t like her politics). Once she realizes that she has been used for political positioning, she might have the last laugh.

i hope Mudflats and Lilybart forgives this pup. i have promised to boycott all except Harry Potter because i adore the boy and also too because Fawnskin Mudpuppy gave me my official Mudwart’s school scarf and my daughter and i will wear ours with pride when we go to the movies to see Harry and Ron Weasley and Hermione and…….

    • Dagian says:

Crayola? CRAYOLA?! But…I LOVE going to the Crayola factory! I have to lure children out of there with a little trail of crisps, or french fries! *sighs*

I’m not boycotting HP (WB) either. But it’s not enough to boycott businesses unless you take the time to write them a letter or send an email detailing WHY they have lost your custom.

I used the local Walgreen’s. No more. At least not until after I’ve voiced my objections AND they pull their ads.

      • bubbles says:

ok. ok. i too love Crayola. when i was baby i loved to eat them. you can have the Crayola’s since you was so sweet about Harry Potter.
the honest truth is (hanging head and muttering) i don’t actually use the other sponsors so boycotting them is no problem. i shall boycott them forever an’ ever. amen

btw. (whispering to Dagian) may i come along to the factory? i promise not eat them. i ‘ll be good and just look and sniff.

        • Dagian says:

Absolutely. Believe me, it’s not just for the pint-sized amongst us. It’s a LOT of fun.

          *lowers voice conspiratorally*

Thing 1 and I are huge HP fans. When the last 3 books were released, I bought separate copies for both of us (plus my niece and my goddaughter) and silence ruled for two days.

          “Dagian…Dagian?”, mewled my spouse.
“Shh! Harry Potter! Go deal with it yourself!”

          • bubbles says:

Dagian. you are a pup dear to my heart. i have every book and so does my daughter who i call here Merry. i have an extra Mudwart’s scarf i can send you. if you are on the forum PM me and i will send it. if you are not on the forum yet ask AKM to send me your address and i’ ll mail it off to you. or if you want you can ask Fawnskin mudpuppy where she found them on the internet so you get them for the family in time for the new HP. the people around us at the movies will be so jealous.

          • Dagian says:

Bubbles–I JUST joined the forum. I’ll try and seek you out later this evening. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

      • fishingmamma says:

I started to watch the show to get the list of sponsors, but had to turn it off, it was too horrible to watch. I was a commercial fisher(wo)man for many years, lived in Alaska for over 30 years now, seen bears in the wild. I camp and fish. I know my way around the woods, and am always extremely annoyed to see a bus full of overdressed, noisy, inept, clumsy, novices come stumbling along to ruin the fun for the rest of us. Usually, if it a matter of inexperience, I try to point out that it might be best to stay back from the bears. But this yahoo seems to think that the rest of us should get out of the way so she can have herself filmed “being outdoorsey”. Scuse me while I get my barf bag.

    • TapRootRex says:

I was so hoping Sarah Palin would fall into one of those glacier crevices, never to be seen again. The scenery is stunning. I’m sure the show will help our tourist industry. I think it will also help sell a lot of books… Joe McGinniss books that is…The show demonstrated clearly how juvenile our Quitter Ex-Guv really is… I don’t think the show is casting her in a good light, but she’s too dumb to see it.. I learned a lot I didn’t know about the Alaska I have been living in for so long. I found out when I call a cab, a float plane is supposed to show up in my front yard instead of a car. I found out it’s really not much fun to fish for salmon unless you can harass the bears in the process. I could go on and on… I’lll keep watching until I get that nauseated feeling from listening to too much from our psychologically damaged Quitter Queen…

We are now five; I finally have me a daughter!

Our elder son married a most excellent woman Saturday evening. In my book, any marriage beginning with Groom and groomsmen entering to the opening strains of the Imperial March from Star Wars http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-bzWSJG93P8 and continuing with Bride and Groom selecting as ‘their’ dance the toe-tappin’, body-movin’, glad-makin’, smile-creatin’ “All I Want is You”, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQESZszV0Sg you KNOW is going to be good.

It was a three-day event held on the grounds of an estate up in the north Georgia mountains – rehearsal and dinner on Friday, wedding and reception on Saturday, and brunch Sunday morning. They had 16 in the wedding party for the rehearsal dinner (we all stayed the weekend in the ginormous house where the wedding was held), 120 guests at the ceremony and reception, and about 40 at the brunch — all of it was truly lovely and much fun. The ceremony was held outdoors at sunset and was tender, elegant, beautiful, and so full of joy and love I wasn’t sure the surrounding mountains could contain it! A wonderul time was had by all. beth.

    — Yup; their status has been changed on FB pages to “Married” and I’ve announced it, here, to the mudpeeps, so it’s absolutely official now! 😉 b.

      Clean joke follows:

      Q. What is the definition of a son-in-law?
      A. The man who wasn’t good enough to marry your little girl, but the father of the world’s BEST grandchildren.
