Open Thread – Beauty Everywhere
I took this picture from a parking lot bordering the Seward Highway. There were cars speeding by right out of the frame. I love the fact that beauty is everywhere if you stop and look.

Typo- correction…emails release in May, 2011. Sorry!
Mudpuppies, keep abreast of why Bristol Palin is moving to Arizona. Hmm! A 20 year
old can afford $172,000.00 home and pay cash. I understand emails are to be released
in May 2010, pertaining to information, during the tenure when Sarah was Governor of
Alaska. Could Bristol be a cover for her mother? Are the Palins going to hide out in
the desert of Arizona when the “Palin Governorship Dam” breaks in Alaska?? Her legal
advisor (lawyer) is leaving Alaska. Sarah Palin knows her political furture is tarnished
and destroyed in Alaska. Her “vanity” will never allow her to quit, so therefore, she is
going to establish residency in Arizona. On the political horizon is Sarah running for
John McCain’s senate seat? Or a run for governor of Arizona? There is discussion
that Maricopa, Arizona (Pinal County) may become a new district, with a representative
in the House of Representative, Washington, D.C. Yes, Sarah will milk the media…
“will she run for President in 2012”,… all the way to the bank. If this gravy train fails, Sarah
has her eyes on a seat in Congress.
I don’t know if there are any other fans of the movie “American Beauty” out here but we watched it the other night, again, for about the 100th time since it came out, and AKM’s quote with the spruce tips reminded me of the end of the “plastic bag in the wind scene” where Ricky ends his thoughts with:
“Sometimes there’s so much beauty in the world I feel like I can’t take it, like my heart’s going to cave in.”
I feel that way about certain places, both in and outside of Alaska. There are places and sights that are just too lovely to be contained in hearts and souls. There is so much about life that is heartbreakingly poignant. Maudlin is a very common state of mind here in the dark depths of the subarctic winter, but one must always look for the beauty in everyday life. (hmmm, perhaps I should have brought that light box out this year 🙂
Petmom! yes! there are some sights and occasions that you store in your soul so as to sustain yourself when the hard times come. like medicine for the inner person.
Is it just me or has anyone else wondered why the anti-liberal anti socialist right wing ‘conservatives’ are so fond of the language of the commie proletariat. Anyone who disagrees with you or has any kind of education must be an elite
That and calling those same liberals and socialists “facist”
Their language is right out of Mao’s Little Red Book, and the “cultural revolution” it inspired. Anyone with an education — even people who wore eyeglasses — all were suspect.
They always kill the intellectuals first in any authoritarian purge. People who think are dangerous.
AKM, just wanted you to know that I must have been singing your twelve days out loud without knowing it, because I just caught my daughter singing “…and a dead mouse on my Teeveee”. (Whereupon I told her, no, it’s “dead fish”, not dead mouse), and then I said Hey, where did you hear that?
I just thought you should know what you wrought. LOL
Sorry for the double post.

After 18+ months of unemployment, partial employment, temporary employment and self-employment, I started my new part time job today. It was still a blizzard this morning, so they told me to wait for another call after the roads were safe. I went in at 1. He sent us home at 4:30 because he didn’t have any more patients. He paid us for 8 hours! He said it’s not our fault that it snowed and we missed 4 hours of work. He builds in 8 snow hours that he pays people for. So, today used up 4 of them. THEN he told me that since Saturday is a holiday and nobody works on Saturdays, that he’s giving us Friday off, paid, instead! So this week, I’ll work a total of 11.5 hours and get paid for 21! Can’t beat that with a stick! And the guy is a realllllly nice guy. Very small office. I’ll fit right in. I’m there 2 1/2 days a week at this point. It’s perfect, really. For now. I’m also building my private practice (clinical massage therapy) and doing some medical transcription at home part time. So, 3 part time jobs! No health insurance anymore, but that will come. At least I get free dental care now that I work at a dental office! Yipee!
Man, it was becoming a real drag not having ANY money. My mother will be thrilled that I don’t borrow anymore.
For anyone following my saga, my deposition is next month. I’m hoping that my former employers decide to settle for what they did to me. If not, bring on the judge and jury!
Good Luck and Best Wishes to you on that journey.
It can take a real toll out of you – I know – my doctor told me to quit fighting a bad supervisor about six years ago or I would have to be treated for PTSD. I still feel ashamed that I let him get away with it.
Best part is, I know people who have worked with him since, and they’re saying the same things I did as they move on – but I didn’t tell them in the first place – so it verifies that it wasn’t just me.
Congratulations and best wishes for a happier New Year
Congratulations…!
Congratulations! Toasting you with a Fat Tire *clink*
Good luck with the deposition and I’m glad you have a job that’s enjoyable. Your boss sounds awesome.
go Ripley! i am delighted for you.
go Ripley! i am delighted for you. hugs and kisses and a wonderful brand new year. you been tested and you have come through with flying colors. my girl!
yesterday I was watching “Meet the Press”, as it ended, I changed over to Fox by mistake, and theit little round table program was finishing up by talking about Palin possibly running…the consensus was she wouldn’t run; and the last contributer ( black guy- I don’t know any of their names) said she wouldn’t compare at all with Obama intellectually….and everyone “oohhed” that he said that…with little grins on their faces… Sort of made my day that even the Fox pundits were smacking on her… 🙂
That was the new hire – Juan Williams – most recently of NPR, where he probably would have been allowed to say that.
that was Juan Williams. the guy that got canned from NPR. Fux’s little token. Ruh Roh was that a screechy screech i just heard?
Taking time to enjoy the beauty that is everywhere is such a good thing. Nice photo.
Not trying to wax poetic, but:
I am really enjoying how the green subtly luminesces through the icey coating.
Fox News has finally figured out what AKM, mudpups, and most progressive bloggers have known for at least a year:

Sometimes s…t…u…p…i…d just doesn’t cut it — not even i…d…i..o…t, does.
Heck, s…t…u…p…i…d……i…d…i..o…t, doesn’t even come close. The woman is, literally, beyond description. beth.
“““““““““““““““““““
“While touring a logging camp with her family on Sunday’s episode of “Sarah Palin’s Alaska,” Palin took the opportunity to skewer conservationists who use pencils and paper as a medium to complain about her stance on the environment.
‘Conservationists write me these nasty letters because I support an industry like this,” the former vice presidential candidate said, after taking a chainsaw to an Evergreen Timber tree. “They write me these nasty letters using their pretty little pencils on their pretty little stationery not realizing. Where do you think your pencil and your piece of paper came from, people? It came from a tree that was harvested.’
FROM: “Sarah Palin Accuses Conservationists Of Hypocrisy (VIDEO)” — http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/12/27/sarah-palin-bats-conservationists_n_801571.html#comments
[I believe this might be another “Pants on Fire” moment — I’d like to know how many ‘conservationists’ write to her on paper with pencil. Possibly lower-elementary children who’re concerned about their world? Surely it wouldn’t have been any adult… Accch: I guess recycling would be too much for her to comprehend… b.]
Not to mention, paper does not have to be made of (virgin) tree-wood. Nor do pencils. And don’t even get me started on the HUGE difference between blanket permission to chop down trees willy-nilly (ie: her ‘support of the industry’) and the juducious harvesting of trees to maintain sustainability *while* keeping in mind the ecological impact of that harvest in that particular habitat. Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh! beth.
Maybe Sarah is thinking of “Bristol-Paper”.
I haven’t used paper that’s made from virgin wood in so long that it’s hard to remember. All my stationery, greeting cards, etc. are made from recycled paper (at least 70% post-consumer). I love email because it means no waste. Even my toilet paper used to be 100% recycled paper; now I use 75% tree free paper (made of sugar cane bagasse). And virgin wood for pencils? What century is she living in? Even my ballpoint pens are made of recycled plastic. Of course, I live in a city with recycling laws. She lives in an alternate universe. Too bad she can broadcast to ours.
She will find resonance with loggers in areas where stupid decisions by the corporations who hire them are turned into phony wars-against-environmentalists being the reason people lose their jobs.
She is a fool but a wily one. There are many, many hurting people in this country who are terribly afraid of losing jobs in the woods, coal mines… wherever… she is trying to co-opt their fear.
Her dumb snarky argument is over 30 years old but plays well still in certain areas where people are scared.
Rural America has taken it in the shorts these last 30 years and it doesn’t pay to ignore that… especially when slobs like whatzername are trying to harness the fears and concerns of the folks harmed…
She “co-opts their fear.”
That is the most accurate description of the Palin Doctrine that I have ever read.
You are so right, Alaska Pi. Everyone who has or had a well-paid job in an extractive industry blames us (environmentalists) when their jobs disappear. They don’t think about the fact that mountaintop removal coal mining uses heavy equipment in place of human labor (just enough men to operate the machinery), or how few hands are needed to run a trawler.
If they were after facts instead of feel-good BS, they’d recognize that all these jobs stopped being good ones with the strangling of the unions. Yes, we want the wholesale decimation of wildlife and wild places to stop. I’d love to see those roughnecks retrained in renewable energy industries. Or maybe, instead of felling trees, they could learn to plant them.
There is a lot to what you are saying but there is a whole other dimension too…
People who realize they still have a job after the latest round of cuts after mechanization of tasks and are running scared they won’t make the next cut, people who know there are no other jobs in the area they love and call home, who see no hope comfy politicos in their state capitals will do anything useful to change that… when it gets down to the bone a lot of ideals take second place to feeding and housing one’s family.
The neoliberal economic model we are entrenched in http://www.corpwatch.org/article.php?id=376
puts the onus on the individual , cut loose from a broader community, to buckle down and suck up and go with the flow.
whatzername’s truest crime is co-opting the fears and concerns of people left dangling in the wind by corporate and political greed and offering them the same sicko crap which got them in the mess…
When was the last time we wrote a letter with a pencil? Of course, we all know that Sarah is stuck back in the fourth grade so I guess it makes sense to her.
She usually writes in crayon.
Heh heh. good one. Hmmm…are there virgin crayons?
Revirginized crayons.
I sell a line of greeting/note cards that have no tree content, they are made from kenaf which is planted like a crop. Somebody doesn’t know about what used to be called linen paper either.
Linen paper is too high-end, I mean elitist, for her.
DUH! Slaps head!
Actually ‘linen paper’ is just the marketing speak for paper made from rags, all sorts of chewed up rags. Maybe it was made from linen at some time although I doubt it because linen is a laborious process all by self, soak flax, beat etc.
I think (not 100% certain) it was called linen because the screens it was dried on and then the rollers imprinted it with a linen weave look. The other theory is it was made from household linens which was then a generic word for fabric.
Palin makes me want to sucker punch her in the face, I realize this is not a cool thing for an old lady of 62, or any age, to do….!
I had to chuckle on that one!
I’ve thought the same thing and I’m 68!!
you will have to get in line Rocky M. the halibut wants revenge (where is my fish beatin’ stick?)
Beautiful photo! You have a really good eye AKM.
Chicago is so beautiful right now, with our mild temps and blanket of snow. But alas… this Friday we are supposed to get 48 degree temp and rain… gah. Chicagoans know to expect the unexpected. (hardy stock we are) (not by choice)
truly!
Joe Miller is continuing the ‘fight’ over voting procedures, but not blocking Murkowski confirmation.
“In a prepared statement e-mailed to the media about 10:20 p.m., Miller said he planned to go ahead with his federal lawsuit “for the sake of the integrity of the election.” In the Anchorage Daily News today. Forum thread for the interested – 🙂
I hope that is this goes to a higher court and it is not totally dismissed that they rule that the primary should be recounted, too!
JoeMilLiar cannot block the certification process because Judge Beistline told him [when the case was remanded to state court weeks ago] that if he lost in state court (which he did, twice) that he would lift the injunction on certification whether Joe took it to the federal court or not.
Joe’s just trying to make himself look good, “See, I’m letting you move on, this is about the election law, not DeMint’s vendetta against Murkowski, see?”
Does stupidity have its limits? Not if you are Sarah, the partial term governator of Alaska.
http://www.allgreatquotes.com/sarah_palin_stupid_quotes.shtml
First republican woman to run as VP. I guess this is the best they could do.
Nope, Geraldine Ferraro was Mondale’s VP pick. She was qualified too, also…
I guess that makes Sarah’s string of second place finishes a little longer. 😉
Opps. Geraldine Ferraro was 1st Dem. VP pick. (the other one, McStain’s, was a plague of a VP pick)
She aborted her governorship.
Well, I guess it’s her choice…
Thank you for the beautiful picture to start the day, AKM!
Good Morning, everyone! I trust you all had a good ‘first half’ of holiday season celebrations, and that the family gatherings were warm (little, or no, friction). I ‘travelled’ an hour and a half to spend two days with cousins I hadn’t seen in years. It was a really positive experience, with lots of 2nd cousins who are now taller than me, but who were little last time I saw them. On Christmas they actually organized an impromptu piano presentation where all the budding musicians got to show off their skills. It ranges from beginning players to RCM grade 10 pianists, all playing an a baby grand piano that I didn’t even know was ‘in the family’. Best of all for me was that there is a new cousin-in-law in the family who is a photographer, so he photographed the event THEN made a DVD for all each participating family AND I was able to get one TO TAKE HOME WITH ME! You’ll understand how meaningful this was to me when you realize that I’m an awful picture-taker (notice I didn’t say photographer) {which is one reason I’m usually in awe of AKM’s pictures}, and generally when pictures are taken at gatherings I’m at, people promise to send you copies that never seem to arrive.
Long story short = I had a very meaningful December 25, 26, and I hope you did too!
Bring on 2011!
Lovely. (little, or no friction… 🙂 )
Happy Holidays to you and yours!
Happy Monday all you Mudflatters. I don’t post often but read every day and love your thoughts, laughs, and insights. It should be a wonderful and laughable year. Everyone stay healthy! Happy New Year to all of you! Those of us here in the trenches love you all.
Snow on the ground here in Iowa. Heavy fog last night. This morning the trees looked like crystal chandeliers , glistening in the sun.
On Saturday, the NY Times published a long, heartrending article about the Deepwater Horizon disaster. It’s a blow-by-blow, person-by-person tale of horror, in layman’s terms. Read it and weep:
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/12/26/us/26spill.html?_r=1&pagewanted=1&src=un&feedurl=http://json8.nytimes.com/pages/science/earth/index.jsonp
Thanks for the gorgeous photo, AKM. I awoke around 6:15 to find the snow had stopped and the moon was shining. No idea how much snow fell; I’ll find out later.
Health and peace.
Sanity at last! President Barack Obama is America’s most admired man in 2010 according to Gallup.
http://www.gallup.com/poll/145394/Barack-Obama-Hillary-Clinton-2010-Admired.aspx
Nor’easter indeed, here in eastern NY, but not as bad as from southern VT, then east to MA, NH, ME. This morning the Great Pyrenees sheep guardians weren’t sure about those snow covered lumps outside by the hay feeders. Curious, they walked up and sniffed, decided those were ‘their’ sheep after all, then rolled in the snow.
Beautiful picture AKM – thanks!
We had a strange weather event here last night (Maui). Around midnight, the electricity went suddenly went out. I grabbed my flashlight & a good book & sat down to read. Shortly afterward, police cars showed up and parked crosswise in the street to warn cars & residents. It hadn’t been raining here, but was cloudy up country and now the street looked wet. The police officers were out of their cars, and walking around warning people, who came out to see what was happening, not to drive – anywhere – at all. We weren’t to walk anywhere either – stay inside.
Seems we were experiencing flash floods because of all the rain up country. Literally waves of mud & water came down & flooded large areas around us. Couldn’t see much because it was too dark but I could hear the water rushing down the street and in the morning saw that it had come up over the sidewalks and there was deep mud everywhere – all over the street & sidewalks.
All night, big utility trucks were outside my window, clanging & banging, beeping when they backed up every few minutes. Needless to say, there was no sleeping at all. Our street was closed, as was the main cross street, they were completely flooded. Finally got the electricity back in the morning & cable a few hours later. All this and no rain for us.
Five years ago we got hammered with days of heavy rain & the street was a river then too but the mud was nothing compared to what we got last night. A lower lying condo had all their ground floor units flooded & the mud ruined everything. There have been workers out all day cleaning it up. This is so bizarre for here. I live on the dry side of the island & our average rainfall is 10″ a year. I think we only got about 6″ all last year.
Mud soaked landscapes, even in the tropics, can just not compare to your winter wonderland. =) Our beautiful ocean is brown & ugly.
am glad you and yours are ok…
hoping your neighbors are too.
only flash flood area I was ever in was Nevada desert and it startled the daylights out of me to see that incredibly dry landscape fill every ditch, dry creekbed, and canyon with wildly rushing water after a rain far away…
be safe!
Aloha… I love Maui. Sorry to hear Maui is having a tantrum. (give my love to the Banyon tree, waterfalls, tortoises and all the beauty I experienced there) .
Take care and hopefully sleep will be easy tonight.
P.S. I will never ever drive from the airport again… EVER… I survived that road, white-knuckles and all… ever..
Ahhh.Maui! Twenty-five years ago… full moon… drive up to Haleakala @two in the morning, seeing Moon set be low us into the sea… stumbling between the white boulders to the observation platform… seeing Sun rise in the glory of another awakening day… I shall not forget this.
The uncommon becomes the everyday… but for me… who has seen much, both good and bad… this is unforgettable. Do not let this become the “everyday”… maintain your childlke sense of wonder… and enjoy it!
I really enjoyed this summary of Palin’s Alaska:
http://www.salon.com/entertainment/tv/sarah_palins_alaska/index.html?story=/ent/tv/2010/12/27/sarah_palin_s_alaska_recap_episode_7_open2010
Made my day – wonderful link, thank you so much
“Sarah realized her “refudiate” mistake was making headline news and listened as she explained that the whole thing was an accident — because apparently on Sarah’s specially designed Alaskan keyboard the “f” is right next to the “p” (either that, or she’s just a pucking idiot.)”
Still chuckling
And she first SAID it wrong on FOX before the supposed, typo.
Liar all around.
There’s no untruth too big or too small for her, but I have to admit I’m still baffled as to why she hasn’t stopped “makin’ stuff up” after having been caught doing it so many times. Sooner or later even her most ardent fan is going to figure it out.
LOL! sorry, didn’t see your post… I was laughing too hard, also…..
HAhahaaaaaahahaaahaahahahheeheee…. chortle….
Hilarious!
Salon — “…. when Sarah realized her “refudiate” mistake…. she explained that the whole thing was an accident … because apparently on Sarah’s keyboard the “f” is right next to the “p”. (either that, or she’s just a pucking idiot.)”
Thanks for the link and the LOL’S!
*snicker* Snarky review couldn’t happen to a better Quitter.
Happy Boxing Day, Mudpups! Boxing up donations for Goodwill and ARC-
Good morning everyone. AKM, thanks for the photo and the reminder. Sometimes I get so caught up in the gotta’s I forget about the needta’s. Back to fun times in Illinois politics, I guess. *sigh* The nicest thing about the past week has been that they have, for the most part, kept their mouths closed.
Have a wonderful day. Those in the midst of the burricane (CNN’s word, not mine), stay safe and warm.
Illinois politics… GAH! Wondering who will be our next Boss… er, um..mayor. Whom ever it is, they had better NOT privatize our water!!!!!! What was Daley thinking! Thank goodness his reign is almost over…. he is a criminal.
I live south of St. Louis. I am just wondering if anyone will remember there are people living outside of Chicago. *sigh*
A new year is on the horizon and republicans are only just beginning to wake up about Palin–I can’t wait to see the chorus grow as 2011 begins:
http://www.salon.com/news/politics/war_room/2010/12/24/palin_gop_criticism/index.html
Good to see all the comments strung together to get a nice idea of the growth of the anti-Palin POV among the Republicans.
BUT, I am disturbed by the use of “unelectable” in so many of them. That seems to me to leave room for a change of heart if they suddenly think she can be elected. What would make me most happy would be to see “unqualified” used instead — or, other comments about her lack of ability to govern, make smart decisions, etc. That is what is important.
I agree. For anyone who truly loves their country, the thought of a totally unqualified anti-intellectual cretin such as Palin running for President should be enough to stand up against her , especially if she was ‘electable’.
It’s time to reclaim the “Only in America” adage as something positive, like electing Barack Obama as the first African American President. Sadly, “Only in America” is often used to show American insanity such as offering up Palin for President.
“anti-intellectual cretin”…LOL! 🙂
That she is a totally unqualified anti-intellectual cretin should be obvious on its (her) face. It’s even more frightening that she has followers/worshipers who believe she is the One, especially in light of her over-the-top religiosity.
Amazing that back in the 20th Century, I voted for Jimmy Carter with some trepidation, because of his born-again, evangelical bent. I trusted his intellect and his good heart. Although many of my countrymen believe his was a failed presidency, I do not share in that belief. He was one of the few presidents whose actions benefited me personally (because I’m a hiker, and he appropriated the money from Congress to buy up privately-held pieces of the Appalachian Trail). When I was in Brazil (1984), a visit from Carter was front page news, because he was *the* human rights president. He’s still doing everything possible to fight malaria and guinea worm infection in the Sahel. He wants peace in the middle east.
Sarah wants Armageddon, as the prelude to the Rapture. She believes these are the End Times (never mind that Xtians have believed they’re in the end times for 2000 years). Were she to win nomination for the hardest job in America, I might just believe it, too.
Jimmy Carter is a beautiful human being and spirit and stands above all of them. He and his wife give of themselves…and improve humanity….what does $arah Palin do, except enrich herself by ripping off people…by lying and tricking.
I feel the same way about President Carter. He was a fantastic president and has remained a force for human kindness. He pissed off the evangelical vote because he also was pro choice and Reagan screwed him regarding the Iranian hostages. Read the book by Patti Reagan. She lays it out!
I think the scariest proposition is the unelected half of this dynamic duo. Co-President Todd anyone? He has a very short fuse judging by the videos.
I do not believe QuitterQueen will run for 2012 –
That being said – she is a fairly young woman (in the political arena) with that “star power”
We’ll need to stay vigilant that she doesn’t run in 2016 – 2020 or 2024 – Really, 10-15 yrs ago who would have dreamed that Newt G would even be considering another run?
Politics is a long term game with short term memory voters.
Thanks to John McCain – he unleashed a 20+ yr Palin Plague on this country
Long after he’s gone…. she’ll still be fighting the 2008 election results
I curse that man almost everyday! Country First my BUTT!
She can play the “I may be running” card for all it’s worth (more ghostwritten books, more TV appearances, more devotion from her rabid followers), but unlike a serious female politician (there are quite a few in both parties), Winky’s appeal is fading with her looks.
No matter what she says about organic Alaska proteins (and I doubt she has any idea what an essential fatty acid is, apart from a buzzword used to sell salmon), her diet is unhealthy (diet Dr. Pepper, Taco Bell crunch wraps, whatever they are, and energy bars, most of which are sweetened with the same high-fructose corn syrup found in non-diet soda; she might as well be eating cookies), and her body is that of someone who spent over a decade having kids and sitting on her ass.
Yes, she can afford plastic surgery, but she’s getting to old to cash in on cute. We saw the Hawaii photos. And we know about her legendary temper. Menopause is going to hit her hard, and her stock is overrated already. Her appeal will dissipate in a hot flash, I prophesy.
Btw, AKM, are “we” waiting for the New Year to finish blogging the book? Can’t say I blame you; it must be very unpleasant work. Maybe you know a motorcyclist who’ll lend you a helmet.
too old, not to. sorry. fast fingers.
It’s okay with me if AKM drops the book-blogging. There wasn’t anything new or juicy or good or prurient or any other possibly interesting point being made in it.
I honestly had forgotten all about it.
McStain!
Whoopsy, meant to post under Enjay in E MT.
May John McStain live in his own twisted mind.
I think he’s doing just that….
They left out Lisa Murkowski’s assessment that she is not all that interested in policy and governance and lacks intellectual curiosity to govern – something like that. It was one of the most succinct critiques yet.
And the timing!
It was right after Murkowski had won the general election – it was a big “thumb her nose in $Palin’s face.”
It was such a good stroke that I don’t recall $Palin having a response.
Ah, what a lovely after Christmas gift. I do think they are going to have to quit being so nice about the unelectable part though. She’ll still see that as “I’m qualified”. And that’s what they need to start saying, in very plain, direct, untactful words. Mind you, anyone with half a brain can read that between the lines, but it’s Palin we’re talking about.
I just always have this image of her trying to push through that door that has a crack in it and all the repubs on the other side trying to push it closed. I’m not sure she’ll ever get the point that she shouldn’t run.
I think my favorite analogy is the one from Frum that she’s the piano teetering above the performing poodle, the Republican party, and she’ll fall and crush it. Maybe we should all go to that circus to watch their demise.
I don’t think she will run. I think she will milk the ‘I might run’ meme until she has squeezed the last screaming and bleeding cent out of it. She doesn’t like to lose. I don’t think she liked being Governor even if she did like the perks and title.
There is a quote from a Kudlow & Co interview July 31st 2008 after McCain picked her for VP
“As for that VP talk all the time, I’ll tell you, I still can’t answer that question until somebody answers for me what is it exactly that the VP does every day?”
but even she has to know that every President turns gray very rapidly in office, and it is not from all that pampering that Dubya misses.
Her style is to snipe verbally from the sidelines and poke ant hills with a very long stick, she can do all of that rabble rousing & campaigning for someone else.
lovely. and you’re right.
Also, too, blizzard, shmizzard. Eastern CT got about 5 inches of snow, and it’s blowing around, but we got nuthin’. It was like there was a bubble around southeastern CT! On the other hand, the other side of the state got hammered, as did other states south of us. I guess not getting hit was a good thing. I start my new part time job today! Just waiting for the phone call to tell me it’s safe to get there.
What is “snow?”
Good luck with your new job!
Congratulations on your new job! May it be something you love, with people you like and pays well.
The other side of the Sound got battered, too. Best wishes on your new gig!
Nor’easter hitting today…it does look beautiful outside
Yes, it is. Have a New Year of Nature’s Wonders, JD. Peace.
My wish for us all:
May the new Turn around the Sun be a good one, and may all our adventures be learning experiences be positive and empowering.
May Love and Peace be ours, Ing
