Behold the Quitter Queen! A Ketchikan Resident models her outfit of the “Quitter Queen” Sarah Palin at the 25th Annual Wearable Art Show in Ketchikan, Alaska.

Once she gets her trademark this kind of thing will be stopped, or sued. (surely she signed the papers now)
bb- I don’t try to be really mean, but a person who has staked out a public persona, really has little expectation of privacy while in the public spotlight. I didn’t put either of the Palin’s in the public eye. They make all kinds of public statements and that makes them, for lack of a better cliche, targets for slings and arrows. Both have made really outrageous public statements.
Bristol may have a career in diplomacy or something. I heard she just brokered her first actual treaty and she and rattlesnakes have a deal where neither side bites. Professional courtesy,I believe. Lab tests prove convincingly that Palin venom is much more toxic than run of the mill snake venom.Lasts longer, too.
Now we know why Bristol needed to move out of Alaska. She wants to run for office and her mother is wildly unpopular in Alaska.
Thanks Mom for soiling the nest for your daughter.
This is an excellent (albeit long) article about Palin’s relationship with the media and how the media fails (and always has) to report the reality that is Sarah Palin:
http://www.alaskadispatch.com/voices/medred/8665-sarah-palin-is-right-lamestream-media-needs-help-with-the-truth
Thanks, OMG. Yes, Medred got it, in a better-late-than-never sort of way. The close was my favorite:
“‘We’re so far from being able to trust what so many of the mainstream media personalities, characters, feed the American public that it scares me for our country,’ [Palin said]. ‘What would give me great joy is what would become irrelevant is the misreporting that comes out of the mainstream media.’
“So here’s an invitation to Sarah Palin: C’mon down. Alaska Dispatch is just south on the road from Wasilla. Help us make irrelevant that misreporting. The door at Dispatch is always open. Drop in anytime. Educate us. Show us the light because we’re still laboring under the impression that journalists are supposed to try to paint an accurate picture of the world. And when Alaska’s ex-governor does an interview (a rare enough thing in and of itself), and acts like a dunderhead, the true story isn’t in someone trying to sort out whatever the hell it was she was trying to say. The true story is that a potential Republican presidential candidate is making like a dunderhead.
“Not to accuse the state’s half-term, ex-governor of actual dunderheadedness. We’re not into name calling. But we are into the idea that when dunderheadedness is displayed in public by people in positions of some political or societal importance, it is the responsibility of the media to point this out. That is what journalism is about.
“But the door is open for Gov. Palin to c’mon in and change our minds. Ronald Reagan would at least have given it a shot.”
We know (or are pretty sure we know) toddler Tripp travels with his Twinkle-Toes mother as she flits from appearance to appearance around the nation. I think it safe to say we assume he goes with her most of the time, at any rate — since we’ve not heard differently (and we have heard her say he was with her at various times and at various non-AK locations.)
I think it also safe to say that Twinkle-Toes’ son’s also-toddler uncle does *not* travel with Twinkle-Toes’ mother or father as they go from mega-fee job to mega-fee job across the nation. Also-toddler uncle has medical and developmental needs that preclude such travel; he has medical and (especially) developmental therapies –including consistency and stability– that are essential and can’t be done haphazardly/as his parent’s schedule allows.
So, my question is twofold:
1) Who does Twinkle-Toes’ son stay with on the occasions when he doesn’t travel with her, and,
2) Does anyone know who is raising Missy Quitty Pant’s youngest child — know who he is living with? With either set of grandparents? One of her (or Tawd’s) siblings? A nanny? And what ‘message’ does this non-present style of Palin-parenting send to other parents of children with Downs Syndrome or other mental disability…particularily when Missy QP was so all saintly-halo-ed as “the advocate/voice” for special needs children/families as she was VP running? beth.
Palin was photographed holding Trig at the Reagan Ranch do this weekend.
And the rest of the time? I think I remember her saying (in some soft-ball fluff-terview) he liked to spend time with his friends at his cousin’s (?) farm every day — does he stay at the Wasilla house the rest of the time? Who is his caretaker when Papa and Mama Grizz are on the road? Any one know? b.
what a guy!
Did anyone else see the previews for Rummy’s interview with Diane Lawyer? He’s throwing everyone except Shrub under the bus.
i am glad for him. i hope it will be a good fit. thanks for the info Lee.

Love Mike Littwin; clever, insightful and humorous at the same time.
And the Post published a follow up story today: Denver and Glendale Police (city where event would be held), Arapahoe County Sheriff, and CBI had not received any reports of threats. Oops. Could be the “threats” were from those who supported military family families but detested Palin 😉
“So hateful, even Sarah Palin won’t come to Colorado?”
……..“I called Leo Pacheco, who runs the Sharon K. Pacheco Foundation. I wanted to ask him about tickets — it seems that two days before the event was officially announced, the $185 tickets already had been discounted by 50 percent. Was there not an, uh, onslaught of buyers? There were also reports, in my own newspaper, of tax records showing the organization had raised only $1,000 in 2008 and $2,204 in 2009. Did Pacheco really have the money to afford Palin?”………

I unfortunately watched a video of an Anchorage women who appeared on Dr. Phil (I don’t know when)–but it will stay with me. A women who adopted 5 year old twins from a Russian orphanage is shown putting hot sauce in the kids mouth and putting the screaming child in a cold shower. The boy is 7 now and seems to get in trouble in school. Family has 6 kids. I can’t imagine why some folks decide to adopt tramatized kids and then are shocked when they act out. The gal who sent the boy back to Russia alone a few months ago was home schooling him, getting no emotional help for him etc. I have an ex-sister-in-law in Texas who is a super conservative Christian, adopted a black kid from a drug impacted family and made the kid’s life hell. He is grown now, didn’t go to college like the family’s natural children and gets in some trouble once in awhile. Another relative took in 2 children who spent years in a refugee camp in Africa. Same thing, ultra-conservative, home schooling, didn’t believe in getting professional help, it was horrible for those kids. What is this about anyway? Is it a need to appear like a loving Christian family–while not getting the skills to deal with these troubled kids? I know that’s it, but I can’t imagine why. Idiots!!!! End of rant.
They pray and they are told that is enough and they are told that therapy is for athiests.
Very sad.
(((Auni))) yes. someone posted this a few days ago. it is horrible. i have become very cynical about the reasons some people take children in their homes. there are wonderful foster parents who love and care for their charges with all that they have. we very seldom hear about them. i personally wouldn’t give any child to a fanatic. any kind of fanatic. such people are, in my opinion, are neurotic by definition of being overly obsessed by religion, by politics or whatever. everyone here was upset by this story.

New info on Keith Olbermann

Take a look at a Canadian’s view of Mrs. what’s her name as she tries to claim the Reagan mantle:
http://politico-junkie.blogspot.com/2011/02/canada-palin-anti-reagan.html
Gotta love this:
“Of course, our Sarah is more poseur than pretender. She still utters the greatest of falsehoods with the greatest of confidence. She remains somewhere between not yet and not ever.”
love it! thanks OMG.
And here’s the entire article:
http://www.ottawacitizen.com/life/Ronald+Reagan+master/4240390/story.html
I’m sick of the St. Ronnie meme. But it beats the sh*t out of St. Sowah.
I’m no fan of Reagan, but I did love this comment, and agree that it’s probably quite accurate:
“Reagan would have been appalled by Palin’s disrespect for public office, her lack of serious reflection and her evangelism. “
Interesting article about BPalin
http://www.politico.com/click/stories/1102/bristol_talks_politics_personal_life_.html
“As for the crazy college days she might have missed out because she had a child, she said, “I don’t desire that lifestyle at a frat house or at college parties or anything like that. And, umm, no, I am not envious of that kind of lifestyle.”
Is it just me, or does that rankle anyone else? College does NOT equal “crazy”. You are not FORCED to participate in any sort of silliness/debauchery. College is about getting an EDUCATION.
Dolt.
I’ve noticed this family tends to lean toward “(higher) Education is for elitist”. if she hangs around the party crowd or is prone to peer pressure (never thought I’d use that last one), I could see her “perception/view” of what college might be like. But, any good parent, teacher, friend, or common sense stresses furthering an education and keeping your wits, not beer-bong-101 or American Pie party animal weed smoke outs. It goes on yes, however, people serious about an education go to learn, especially if the person is paying for it. Now, I was not the best student k-12, partied pretty hard though by the time I made it into college I didn’t waste my time or money on flunking out..had some fun granted. BTW, how many times can one person use the word “awesome” in one interview ? goodness. Bet her thesis would be “like awesome and even more awesome”. Does anyone know what this radio deal is about ? And if anyone is wondering why I give a flip about the Palins – Bachmann-like minds, shooting for another degree, this time in psychology, and well these people are like awesome specimens.
Like, wouldn’t, like Bristol, who is, like, so awesome, like, go to, like, an awesome, like, Christian college, like, anyway? That would be so, like, awesome, to, like, go to an awesome, like, college, with, like, other Christian like students and, like, awesome stuff like that.
Like awesomely good point B-Dozen ;->
What kind of young woman has a ‘lifestyle at a frat house’? I know it’s been a long time since I was in college but fraternities generally were for the male students. Has college life changed THAT much or does Bristol just not understand that young women do not live in frat houses?
Does she also not understand that the main purpose of college is to go to classes and get an education, not to party with a bunch of drunken frat boys?
It is very clear that no one in that family thinks beyond next week. Once the spotlight on Bristol fades and nobody wants to pay her ridiculous amounts of money to speak, what is she going to do with the rest of her life? She’s got many, many years left to support herself and at least one child, and Grizzly Mama’s money will run out long before then. Does she really think she’ll still get $100,000 for a photo spread ten years from now? Certainly college is not for everyone, and there are many worthwhile careers that do not require a degree, but she doesn’t seem to be preparing for anything beyond the next magazine interview. Celebrity may pay well for the short term, but it is fleeting and the next big star is waiting right around the corner, ready to push her right out of the picture.
Sadly, I don’t see much of a bright future for any of the Palin children unless something changes drastically. Hopefully, some caring friend or relative will enter their lives and become the real role models their parents certainly are not. Otherwise, they all seem destined to just drift through life, expecting people to adore them and pay them just because their name is Palin. What a rude and painful awakening they’re going to have somewhere down the road.
“Does she really think she’ll still get $100,000 for a photo spread ten years from now?”
I doubt she can get that much from Playboy in 10 years, maybe 1/10 though. Maybe.
“What kind of young woman has a ‘lifestyle at a frat house’?”
The kind who are not there for an education, but maybe to generate money? That does sound like Bristol’s scene though.
I went to very few parties when I was in college. And I chose to live in a dorm rather than going to sororiety route. But that had more to do with not liking the idea that someone was going to tell me what to wear, who to date and what to do with my free time. That was back in the late 60s and I hope that has changed by now. But it hadn’t then – you could tell what house a girl lived in by the way she dressed or the color of her bleached hair. Sorry if I’ve offended anyone, but that’s what I experienced. There was more to it than that, though.
However, Bristol’s view of college is so far from the truth now or even back when I was there. The people who only went to college to party didn’t last long. They were gone after a semester or maybe a year. Even those who did party studied a lot.
And the main goal for most people I was in class with was to get an education, not to party. We could all have saved a lot of money and just stayed in our home towns if that’s all we wanted to do.
It sounds to me like Bristol is basing her view of college on what she did or saw others do in high school when they should have been studying instead of partying. So I guess from that narrow point of view, getting a college degree is probably a waste of time for Bristol. It’s too bad – she might actually expand her narrow thinking and grow up a little. She uses her baby as a crutch against seeing any other possibilities for her life than what she has watched her mother do. We all know that Bristol hasn’t had a good role model, and that’s very sad for her child who will apparently grow up with the same disregard for education.
Here’s a fun test of visual perception:

Start typing your answer as soon as you recognize the object.
very fun.
I kept getting answers wrong because I misspelled the answers trying to type quickly! 🙂
My scores were the same both times. But the kittens were cute. I’m still not sure I really get the point. I would expect that if seeing positive images makes you more intuitive, then the difference in participants’ scores would differ by more than .1
That was fun! I scored 18/22 (Hey, does that mean I’m 3 times as intuitive as the average NYT reader? Awesome!)
Here’s a test that Irishgirl should do better with than Mrs. Todd Palin aka quitter queen. Irishgirl will take it, just for fun. QQ will avoid it. We’ll all know because she won’t post a score. Right? 🙂
US geography
http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/2011/0208/Think-you-know-the-US-Take-our-geography-quiz/Lakes
That was fun!!
I got 21 out of 25…a lot better than I thought I would since my elementary school education left a lot to be desired. Of course, that was a VERY long time ago so I probably wouldn’t have remembered most of it anyway!
Of course, the QQ would have been stumped by one question that listed Hawaii as a state. Isn’t Hawaii part of Kenya???
Forgive me,I missed question 5 and quit. I thought Alaska needed some public relations help and I goofed.
I never did well in geography class. But if I have gone to some of the places, then I learn about the history and it all makes sense and I remember it. Couldn’t take the test – it was loading too slowily and I quit after a few tries.
I must say, they got the bloated head part of the costume right. The hands look awfully small by comparison. Is it my warped imagination or is the “whacked out weasel of Wasilliness” dressing in red to emulate Nancy Raygun?
there is a lady in Ohio who needs your help. she is a mother and is getting her degree to teach. we have a great many educators here so maybe someone will take a moment to sign a petition.
_______________________________________________________________________
Incredible story out of Ohio, where single mom Kelley Williams-Bolar was jailed and slapped with a felony conviction for lying to school officials to get her kids into the better school in their father’s school district. The kicker: With a record, she will lose her job and her chance at the teaching degree she’s about to earn. The case is being appealed. A petition by MomsRising and ColorofChange.
http://action.momsrising.org/letter/Ohio_Mom/?akid=2521.250509.3L6fxT&akid=2531.166217.Jt_3WF&rd=1&t=5&t=1
please help her. she needs some mudpuppy love.
Bubbles,
I am not sure she deserves a felony conviction either, but she did lie to get her kids in
another school which would create a big mess if everyone did that. It is not smart to
game the system.
You are correct–but some (in Chicago) teachers here live outside of the city but manage to get their children into the premier magnet programs. It is unfair. It seems that even those parents who are politically connected get their children into those same magnet programs. Many of us know of those who game the education system yet marvel at the ‘education gaps’ among urban student groups.
I’m on it. Too bad she couldn’t make a false statement about something trivial, like outing a covert CIA agent. Rethugs would back her 1000% if she were one of them.
Whoa – love that comment!
Signed it gladly!
The punishment does far outweigh the “crime.” Here, if someone is caught sending their kids to a different district, they simply have to pay out-of-district tuition. This happens a lot with families on the Missouri side of the metro trying to get their kids into school districts such as the highly acclaimed Blue Valley, Shawnee Mission, or Olathe school districts on the Kansas side.
For those unfamiliar with the Kansas City metro area. There is Kansas City, Kansas (KCK)- a heavily industrial, densely Democratic city in Wyandotte County and the third largest city in Kansas, just slight north and west of Kansas City, Missouri (KCMO).
Kansas cities just over the state line (we have a State Line Road separating the two states that several of these cities co-maintain with KCMO — KS takes the southbound lane(s) and MO takes the northbound lanes) include Mission, Leawood, Overland Park, Merriam, Mission Hills, Olathe and others. They are considered, along with KCK, as part of the Kansas City metro-area. You can see, therefore, how easy it would be for parents to try to cross over into the adjacent school districts to get their children into higher rated school districts.
We are supposed to park our vehicles with our tags facing the street. (Missouri has tags for the front and back of vehicles. Kansas only produces tags for the back of the vehicle.) Theoretically, this is to ensure that everyone who lives in Kansas has Kansas tags, but it has also been used to track people whose children are mis-enrolled in Kansas school districts. When discovered or turned-in, these folks have to withdraw their children and face fines or pay the requisite out-of-district-tuition. I have not heard of a case where criminal charges were pressed as in the case of this Ohio mom.
School district enrollment is tied to monetary issues. Therefore, charging out-of-district fees makes more sense than enforcing felony charges for violation of enrollment rules. This issue should not be a criminal one. It all turns on money, not true immorality. The spirit of the law, in this instance, is more important that the letter of it. This law is unreasonable and has been unreasonably applied, in my opinion.
It is obvious that Kelley Williams-Bolar cares deeply about education. She knows the value of getting the best education possible and is dedicating her life to teaching.
That she could be barred from attaining and implementing her degree in education seems far too harsh. We need all the dedicated teachers we can get. I join bubbles in asking you to sign the petition.
Her felony conviction is overkill. Yes, she broke the rules regarding enrolling her children. However, the father of those children, while not possessing physical custody of them, still is their father and should be regarded as responsible for their education. Using his address is her only crime insofar as I can tell.
Have her pay costs, but allow her to finish her degree and teach. Please sign that petition.
End of rant (for now).
thank you Sunflower. thank you all who have helped this lady.
The Palins are sinking, ever so slowly. I am still convinced that a few years down the road the washed up hag and her boy Todd will file for bankruptcy and get a very nasty divorce and then get jobs at WalMart. That’s how flash in the pants “stars” end.
Is it evil of me to wish that someone would stand on their shoulders to hasten the process? Or merely very unkind?
You are neither evil nor unkind. You are having normal reactions to being told you are not PRO-America enough and you want to destroy the country.
I heard nothing,nothing I tell you.
Has anyone here seen the latest IM posting about Bristol Palin. She apparently stated in an interview that she may consider running for political office “down the road” if she believes she can do something to make things better.
Imagine – an uneducated, ill-mannered young woman with an ego that size? My goodness, how does she ever get her head through a doorway?
I truly believe her nose is growing beyond normal expectations. Pic is on IM.
Well, we must give credit where it is due. Mommy parlayed her cutesy attitude, ongoing abysmal ignorance and inattention to details into a multi-million dollar bank account.
here is a video of Bristol’s new home in Arizona.

No books. Not surprised!
You know, I noticed the same lack of books in Sarah’s home in few clips and photographs I’ve seen of it. That’s not surprising any of us, is it? The entire family seems not to value education which at first shocked me considering Sarah’s dad was supposed to be a science teacher. I read he also coaches. Perhaps his interests lie more with sports than science; at least that certainly seems to be what has manifested in his daughter and grandchildren.
I’m not surprised either, but I have to admit that it blows both of their claims to “authorship” right out of the water.
Authors tend to have books on the desk. A complete dearth=ghost writer.
I wonder who got the sh*t end of the stick this time!
I think Dad’s interest in teaching was draft dodging Viet Nam rather than education. Now that little tidbit is so helpful for Mz Uberpatriotic. It goes right along with pretending her son was in combat when he was just the commander’s chauffeur.
Ah reality!
I guess the Servant’s Heart thing is genetic.
Servant …or Serpent?!
There’s a new limited release movie out. It’s called “Carbon Nation.” Watch the trailer here: http://carbonnationmovie.com/
You can arrange for screenings in your area. Note that the Alaska geothermal guy in the trailer mentions something like someone having their head up some place where the sun don’t shine in the actual movie. Don’t know if it a generic or specific reference.
A local western environmental group has scheduled a one-time viewing of Carbon Nation at Images Cinema in Williamstown, MA on Sunday, February 20 at 2PM.
That’s Western Massachusetts!
The truth vs the myth about government spending:

Important information when debating with Tea Partiers.
You can’t debate stupid and willfully ignorant, OMG. But it’s so cute that you try!
Uh Oh…my naivety is showing again!
No, your intelligence and dedication to the truth is showing.
You may not be able to educate the Tea Party people, but take heart – no one has or otherwise they would not be where they are today.
What you are doing is sharing vital information with those willing to learn. We in turn will spread it further. You are doing what this medium is best geared to do and what your caring heart seems dedicated to doing: embracing the truth and hoping it takes root in wherever it can.
Never give up. Never give in. Always be who you are because we need you! 🙂
er – “takes root wherever it can” not “in wherever it can” (was editing that and didn’t proofread. sorry)
Someday, we’re going to have to meet in person. Politics & Prose? The Uptown?
Maybe that’s just the dreariness of February getting to me. Lugging buckets of hot water across a long expanse of ice to the barn just gets so OLD by now!
I find this article a little hard to follow. I think what it is saying is that discretionary spending has about equaled the various tax cuts. Of course, it also puts in TARP from Bush’s term so I’m kind of still baffled.

thanks Paula. i just went to see and it is fabulous! i loved the costume and the music. i hope someone puts it on youtube,
It is on YouTube!
Thanks, Paula.
I went over and viewed it. That was great fun!
The person wearing the extreme likeness of the “rill” two-faced Quitta-from-wassila has more moves and natural elegance than’Old Dingbat Thinskinned Buttercup.
Kudos to Ketchikan for keeping it real!
Can you post a link? Not sure what IM is! Thx.
IM is the acronym for another Alaskan blog by Gryphen, The Immoral Minority. It can be found at the following:
http://theimmoralminority.blogspot.com/
Gryphen shares a desire to expose lies behind political figures such as Sarah Palin, but has a different “voice” than AKM. Both are worthy blogs taking similar but different paths to the same ends: striving to clean up Alaskan and national politics.
Thanks!
Is there a video?
I would love to see Sullivan or Huffpo pick up this story.
Ted Ferry Civic Center, Ketchikan, AK—–Suddenly, there she was on stage in a sparkling pageant gown embellished with targets and rifles and all the stuff the cool kids have in Palah Sarin’s Alaska. She was maybe 10 feet tall and looking all. . . well, “quitty”! When the Queen of Vamoose (and we’re not talking about you, Brian) stepped out on the stage the crowd roared and clapped. It was a great Wearable Arts show, and this was definitely one of the highlights!
Surely this beauty’s image should be gracing the walls of a Bush outhouse somewhere!
/snark: Would that be Barbara Bush’s outhouse?
The quitter queen could never be a beader.
Yep. Way too much work!
To see the Quitter Queen
