Follow Frank! Palin Tell-All Author Talks to Martin Bashir

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

Frank Bailey discusses Christian faith as a theme in Blind Allegiance, in his own life, and in the Palin administration. Quoting from the book Bashir reads –

Love thy neighbor? Turn the other cheek? Forgiveness? These New Testament concepts were not part of Sarah Palin’s Old Testament temperament. Both eyes for an eye was the rule, and vanquishing enemies became a goal.

Bailey goes on to discuss how much of the book is a confession for the things he was involved with, and how he strayed from his Christian principles to do Palin’s bidding in her obsessive need to punish personal and political foes.

Bashir then asks if Bailey was star struck by Sarah Palin in the beginning and if he was “completely overwhelmed by her charisma?”

You know, her charisma was moving, there’s absolutely no doubt about that… Blind Allegiance is a tale about somebody – myself – who worshipped someone who did not deserve worship. In my beliefs, you know, worship should belong to God, not a person. And the sad thing is is that she wanted to be worshipped. She wanted people out there to believe she was perfect and not real.

    On hannity:

    BAILEY: Sean let me ask you a question. Why aren’t you and the folks on this network talking about her honesty.

    Hannity : replied back saying ‘I do not vet anyone’ ( this part is missing in the transcript) Pl. watch the video!

    “And the sad thing is is that she wanted to be worshipped. She wanted people out there to believe she was perfect and not real.”

    No past tense needed. She WANTS to be worshipped and believed to be perfect. It’s an ongoing personality characteristic and fault. Huge fault.

  4. Lilybart says:

    This is an important point. Palin does not act like a Christian. She can’t even convert to Judiaism to avoid Jesus because most Jewish people I know, hubby included, don’t pay attention to the OT violence or commands to stone people!

    She never talks about Jesus because she would be struck by lightening if she did.
    “By their Fruits shall ye know them.”
    Well, her fruits are rotten.

  5. OMG says:

    Sarah Palin is one slimy creature that should never be in the limelight except as comedic fodder or perhaps to play herself as the evil villain (who plans to take over the world and force the End of Times scenario in Israel) in the next Bond Movie.

  6. Laurie says:

    I checked ADN to see if they wrote about delay of emails. There is a comment from Andre complaining once again about Baily using the emails with the blessing of the Atty General.

    I can’t figure out why she is not happy that Palin’s own words will be used to show people who she really is. Isn’t that what Andre worked to reveal?

    • Lilybart says:

      I think she wants ALL the emails public, his too, isn’t that the point? And if HIS are ok to release, why not the rest of them?

  7. Enjay in E MT says:

    Hannity interview is about the final 8 minutes (more like 5) of his show –
    and of course Hannity was more about Bailey being a traitor to QuitterQueen
    Copying unauthorized emails – bad mouthing about the “kids” and
    the Palin marriage.

    Hannity followed the Faux Rethuglican Party line!

    • seattlefan says:

      That was the only one I missed (and pretty much on purpose…..I can’t stand Hannity). I hope the mannity treated him fairly, but I do have my doubts. I saw Mr. Bailey on Martin’s program and on LOD. He did a great job. He seems to be honest and very sorry for what he did. It figures Hannity would go on the attack for the quitter idiot. I’m shocked that Ms. Palin did not show up and “refudiate” it all. Where is she and why isn’t she pushing back on all of this herself? Her silence speaks volumes. If she has issues, you would think she would be filing lawsuits, suing for libel, etc….. yet we hear nothing.

      • giddyup says:

        She and Toad were at the DWTS finale. Don’t know who invited those two white trash scumbags, but they were on camera more than once.

        • Dagian says:

          No doubt the producers, whoring for ratings (it’s their job when it’s not their hobby).

  8. LibertyLover says:

    There is something so refreshingly genuine about Frank’s acceptance of his responsibility in what he did for Sarah at her behest. I don’t agree with his politics, but I believe him. He seems very credible in his appearances on the TV. Palin will have a hard time calling him just a “disgruntled employee.”

    I still think a better name for the book would be: “A View from under Sarah Palin’s Bus.” OK, well, maybe not. 😉

  9. rebekkah says:

    A message to Mr. Frank: I saw you get pummelled tonight by Sean Hannity. Know that the pharisees will mock you. You are doing the right thing by telling the truth, and standing on God’s principles and He has the final say. I was pretty disappointed at the end of the day, thinking that so many alaskans and others were victimized and may never be vindicated; the SOA e-mails may not be released. Good stuff, AKM and Mr. Morris, who took it upon themselves to stand up for justice too, and I might as well say all the other bloggers who tirelessly work to keep corruption out the hands of the wicked.

    “The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; he leadeth me beside the still water. He restoreth my soul; he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me, thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies; thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.”

  10. BearWoman says:

    I purchased Blind Allegiance and The Lies of Sarah Palin today at my local bookstore (not the big box).

    [On soapbox] Let’s support our local small business bookstores by buying TWO copies of these books — one for ourselves and one to donate to our local public library to make sure as many people as possible have access to these great books! Let’s show The Quitter and her ilk how us liberals can support and boost small businesses and libraries in our home towns! [Off Soapbox]

    Thank you Frank, Ken, and AKM for bringing this book to fruition and with the best possible writing!

    What a day!!!

    First, we have AKM’s exciting world debut as a famous author and then we turn a red House district indigo.

    Think I’ll head for bed now and dream me some happy dreams!

    ‘Night all! 🙂

  13. tallimat says:

    Good grief Frank,
    I’m reading away. Costco, baby, Costco. And my uncle, who flew up here with my copy.

    All I can say now, is I worked for a gross boss before.
    My anger towards you is less. You make some really good points about why and how.
    I am espacially appreciative that you have done this book.
    Quyana Mr. Bailey and co-authors, Quyana.

    • Lilybart says:

      I worked for someone who treated other horribly, and it wasn’t until I was looking like the next target that I left! But it is scary to leave long term employment so I understand how he stayed around for so long. And he shows that religious nuts will justify what they do, for God, you know.

  14. Kath the Scrappy says:

    Lawrence O’Donnell interviews Palin’s former pal Author Frank Bailey on the book coming out today. On LOD’s blog it gives an except about the troopergate situation:

    Congratulations again to AKM, she is a true Alaskan treasure.

  16. Wallflower says:

    Well, I got the e-mail today that my pre-ordered book had shipped, so about the time all you Kindle-ites are done, I’ll just be starting. It’s okay, though. I read fast.

  17. bubbles says:

    you did very well Mr. Bailey. you got me with the piano playing video. i am very happy for you and Ken and Jeanne. matzel tov!

  18. Lacy Lady says:

    Great News!!!!!!!

    Democrat Kathy Hochul has won a special election race in New York’s 26th District, the Associated Press reported. She beat Republican Jane Corwin in an upstate district that has a history of supporting GOP candidates. The seat was previously held by a Republican, Chris Lee, who resigned in February.

    • leenie17 says:

      Yesssssss, we D I D ! ! ! ! ! (modestly taking a bow for my vote that helped push Kathy over the top)

      😀

    • bubbles says:

      great news indeed! wow. thanks i was hoping this would happen. congratulations NY26 Dist.
      Lacy Lady i am thrilled for you and Leenie and all the western New York pups.

      • I See Villages From My House says:

        I’m thrilled to see this development with that red district. Let’s hope it’s portentous of what is to come in 2012.

    • Very exciting news, indeed.

    • Lilybart says:

      People don’t want Medicare to be destroyed! That was the message sent last night. We all just try to hang on til 65, then we can stop worrying too much about health care! We need a Euro style universal health care for everyone but until people come to their senses, at least we have Medicare.

    • Kalena says:

      How does she think she can come back after these powerful books and RAM’s leaked tweets. You know the ones that The Daily Caller didn’t post will eventually get leaked. She is delusional.
      ~~~
      btw, Hannity was an azz tonight!
      • aeroentropy says:
        How does she think she can come back…? You’ve answered your own question: She’s delusional. But if she can bring enough people in on the delusion, well….
      • ks sunflower says:
        All the opposition has to do is get TLC to run Sarah Palin’s Alaska again — that will pretty much undermine this film.
        Goodness, a two-hour “epic” on Palin? Even if she doesn’t speak, that is still a long time to get what amounts to a political ad pushed up your nose. Besides, with the interview segments with the people listed, it will be turning people off.
        Hasn’t she gotten the memo – the Tea Party’s agenda is not pleasing voters any longer.
        New York’s special election district went to the Democratic candidate tonight and that district was one of the most conservative in the nation!
        Yeah, Sarah, go ahead hitch your wagon to the Tea Party and watch it get stuck in the slime and mud. Little Sarah, you are a little late to that game. Besides, remember, you will lose money if you run.
        I think she would have better luck running for the Senate in AZ — and after six years of running that state’s reputation in the ground, she will be as dried up and toasty as the land surrounding her new house.
        • ks sunflower says:
          Oh, wait, if she should win a Senate seat – it wouldn’t be for the six year term – I forgot – she’s a quitter.
        • Mag the Mick says:
          For what it’s worth, I don’t think she has any chance in Arizona. The Republican powerful already have their list of candidates drawn up, and they would not appreciate the intrusion of an outsider. Although the RWNJs here still have a firm grip on power, it is slowly being eroded. They can’t afford to risk any of what they’ve got on the likes of Palin. Her election would be the beginning of the end for the current ruling class. So, hmmm – dare I say bring it on?
        • benlomond2 says:
          no chance in AZ….. 1) McCain isn’t going to endorse her, 2) She’d be viewed as a carpet-bagger from AK, …as for her movie??? a video of “Going Rogue” ??? HA !
    • G Katz says:
      Ugh. Sounds dreadful, doesn’t it? No matter, I still think she has a limited base that might become more vocal but is not likely to grow. Most people based their opinions of her on her performance as Vice Presidential candidate, and I don’t think you can erase that impression—whether it was favorable or the opposite—with a 2-hour movie. I think some of the left-leaning commentators have been too quick to write her off. Maybe it’s been wishful thinking.
      • Cammie says:
        And is this movie even going to be in theaters? Looks straight to dvd to me.
      • It might distract people for a while and make them feel sorry for her – until they start seeing replays of those pathetic answers she gave in 2008, and the replay of her quitting speech and some of the others that prove she isn’t smart enough to be elected to any job.
        She doesn’t seem to know it, but even people who at least gave her some credit before have now started saying how inept she is. And most acknowledge that she isn’t qualified to be president.
      • Lilybart says:
        The movie sounds hilarious. Religious references and dog-whistles? Only the hard core will love this one!
  19. Alaska Pi says:
    Good job Mr Bailey, good job.
  20. Ripley in CT says:
    I feel badly for Mr. Bailey, even though he did the grunt work for the evil one. His respectful demeanor with Lawrence on the Last Word tonight, and his sincere desire to repent for doing things which went against his grain, give me all the proof I need so as not to judge him like some others have; as a rogue disgruntled ex-staffer. He clearly is NOT that.
    Mr. Bailey, I hope you find peace at last. You seem like a decent guy who got mixed up with a false prophet. Let this be a lesson to you. You are correct; never worship people. They are wholly undeserving most of the time.
    Thank you all for producing this book. I plan to pick up my copy at my first opportunity. Too, also, I’ll be able to say, “I hugged one of the authors!” 😉
    • aeroentropy says:
      Nicely said, Ripley!
      I would not want to be in Frank’s shoes these days. I hope that he holds up well, and is able to move on when the hooplah is over.
      • ks sunflower says:
        Perhaps Sarah will be so busy punishing RAM that Bailey will drop off her horizon for a while.
    • Lilybart says:
      I am pleased to see that Bailey is doing well on TV, He is not some dweeb, but a likable guy, sincerely sorry!
  21. SuzySnowflake says:
    I wish I know which programs Frank Bailey was going to be on today so I could have caught more of them. I saw him on The View, then caught part of him on The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell, and now see the video of him with Martin Bashir. He has come across as sincere and honest every time, not as vengeful or hateful. Great kick-off for the book today!
  22. nswfm says:
    He did a good job in this interview. What struck me is how much more polished he is than the psychopath he worked for, who can’t remember what she reads and has to write on her hand. Good for you, authors, for what you’ve accomplished.
    • nswfm says:
      BTW, I bought the book at B&N today and made sure I asked the employee to show me where it was and talked with her about it as we walked to the section. When I was paying, I made sure I talked with that clerk about the book, too. Even if you bought the book on Kindle, Nook, iPad/iPhone, whatever, go to the bookstore and make sure you talk w/the employees of the store about it. Same with the G Dunn book, etc. Word of mouth is the best advertising.
      • ks sunflower says:
        I agree. Good advice.
      • ks sunflower says:
        I also had the local libraries order copies of all three books – plus The Palin Paradigm. They had only had pro-Palin books before this.
        Last time I looked yesterday, 18 people were already in line for Blind Allegiance.
