Open Thread — Getting Ready for the March

By Linda Kellen Biegel

Monday night was the “Sign-making party” for the Anchorage version of the “United Against the War On Women” March this Saturday, April 28th at noon starting at the Park Strip (flagpole) and ending at the Town Square Part for speakers, music, etc…

At the party, about 20 folks showed up to help and in the picture you can see only a part of the “haul.” We’ll have more in the next several days about the March.

What favorite pro-woman or anti-right-winger slogan would you put on a sign?

I just got this in an e-mail. I think the Catholic Bishops have really crossed the line this time.
I wish I knew how a person could contact all of the American Biships in the Country.
Catholic women in this country should protest this move.
    Enough is enough.

Is’nt Newsmax one of those Murdoch type things?

      • Lacy Lady says:

Yes—-this is what makes this even worse that the Catholic Bishops are spreading their word thru this Organization. I don’t call this separation of Church and State.

Open Thread. This blog site requested information on a pictured man who had interactions with Shannyn. Have heard nothing since. Didn’t have any more details on the harrassment, when/where. Would it be possible (and polite) to update those of us who read that article?
If nothing has happened, no one has come forward with information, that’s okay, but I feel we’ve been left hanging.

The silence of the Duke. I was treated to and seriously disappointed that the “Duke” had zero comments and no fondled remembrances of early sixties Philadelphia, early American Bandstand and the recently departed Dick Clark. Must have been off on another adventure or else decided its none of my business. Alas, alack.

If you add a little bit of margarita to the sign party…
this is why you don’t invite me to these things…
once I get going it just goes downhill…

Here is the face of disgust, but doing it anyway (like we all should):

    You go girls!

Her face says it all. Please, get out the vote in November, and vote in your own interest, as well as in the interest of science, facts, and reason.

    • Really? says:

MUYS. her sign says what I feel. “I cannot believe I still have to protest this shit”

  5. Moose Pucky says:

I’ll be there in spirit, moosely.

    • beaglemom says:

Me too. There’s nothing going on in my hometown so I’ll join you Alaskans in spirit and march alongside you.

Sexism is a wholly owned subsidiary of rwnjs. They not only adhere to sexist beliefs, they seem to be rather proud of themselves for it. They also practice medicine without a license. They pretty much just suck in general.

  7. fromthediagonal says:

AKM… I think the “Sexism Is A Social Disease” says it most succinctly.

“Look your Mother in the eye, and tell HER she’s not worth as much as a man”

    • Alaska Pi says:

      Good one!!
Changing mother for daughter, sister, wife, partner, grandmother, niece, auntie works too 🙂

I’d love for some of these wanna-go-back types to try to convince grown-up Pi son that his daughter doesn’t deserve all the protections, rights, and privileges they want to reserve for his son.
      …and watch the resultant fireworks

Just wanted to wish you well, and thank you and everyone involved for, well, caring enough to be involved.
