Open Thread – Redecorating!

Hello, Mudflatters!

It’s been a while since we decorated around here, and we thought that this seemed to be as good a time as any for a shiny new coat of paint. I’ve been monitoring the redesign, and I think you will love it!

We don’t have an exact day and time yet, but this is your official preliminary heads up that some time soon you’ll log in and get a nice surprise!

Ooh! I am glad I showered and dressed in not dirt and sweat covered clothing before coming here this evening. Lovely new digs, AKM. One thing, I can’t seem to get the iinks people post to work anymore.

Gaaah! The flip throgh thingy and the ticker are too fast for mobile! Slow down I’m dizzy!
Took a minute to figure things out. I do like separating out the open threads.

Hey! Love what you have done with place! A little paint, some new curtains . . . .

I was panicking because my adblocker and script tools had all sorts of stuff blocked when I opened the blog. It all seems OK now only I think you have lost some of your more recent comments.
    Keep up the good work.

I just got my daily dose of cuteness, courtesy of this video of a red panda playing in the snow with a pumpkin:

So, does that mean we’re back to quilt squares?

Just finished having my siding and garage roof redone. The colors of the siding, trim and shutters are the same as they were before, but they look so clean and neat now, without all the big hunks of paint peeling off! Even my neighbor stopped by the other day to tell me how nice it looks.

Now to deal with the sinkhole in my front yard that’s big enough for a coffin. I have it fenced off but I warned the mail carrier to give it a wide berth until I have the time to fill it in with gravel and dirt. Don’t want the mailman to disappear into my lawn! (On second thought, he IS rather cute and it would capture him quite nicely… πŸ™‚ )

I’m redecorating my house too, thanks to two floods in it. The first was courtesy of the 4-year-old granddaughter in the bathroom ($4,000) and the second thanks to a failed water heater that leaked through the wall from the garage. πŸ™

    • Moose Pucky says:

Ooooh. Hope the long-term result makes you happy enough to forget all the problems.

    Love that cartoon.

  11. COalmostNative says:

I can’t use CFLs in most of the house, as I’m one of those who can hear and feel them hum. Good thing we have oodles of natural light.

I operate on the Domino Theory of Decorating: the basement bath was redone, and therefore the rest of the house looked dated and crappy. Finished the powder room and outside landscaping- now it’s time to replace the 23 year old carpet in the basement and paint, then the “girls” upstairs bath, then…

    Drives Mr. CO crazy. πŸ˜‰

  12. A Fan From Chicago says:

Hope you use compact fluorescent light bulbs. It will drive the right wing crazy. Looking forward to the new look.

We are redecorating our yard – at least the part that got whacked by the storm last year. Today, we rototilled a gazillion miles. Or something. I went for another bottle of water, checked the temp, and it was 100*. Told Himself that I was on strike, and he joined me. Crazy weather.

  14. benlomond2 says:

We’ve redone the kitchen twice … the wife can have it purple counters with yellow flowers for all I care, so long as the food still comes out as deliscous as always… Same goes for Mudflats,… it could have green wavy lines on a red background, so long as the informative content and open attitude remains… !

  15. Mel Green says:

What a coincidence! Bent Alaska is remodeling too. Check out our results in progress at bentalaska.com!

  16. Alaska Pi says:

    Oh. major cool beans!
Will the new mud come in blues and greens and yellows and reds too or do we still need to bring our foofy colored avatars to brighten up the joint?

  17. beaglemom says:

I am assuming it won’t be as time consuming or as complicated as our kitchen renovation. All of the work is done now except for the tile backsplash. We’ve been enjoying our new cabinets (much more accessible space now) and our shiny countertop but are beginning to get weary of the bare, splotched walls that are just dying for their sleek new tiles. Hopefully soon to come!

    Redecorating is always fun!

I would love a new kitchen. Instead I will share your joy of all the new. Congratulations, and enjoy.
