Ted __e_ne__ International Airport?
[Oops! This was scheduled to robo-post last weekend and it never did! Better late than never…]
It looks like Massachusetts is already seeking to name public buildings and landmarks after Senator Ted Kennedy. While this is not surprising, I’d like to point out that there are already many “Kennedy” monuments sprinkled all over the East Coast. There is even talk of renaming Boston’s Logan International Airport “Kennedy-Logan International Airport.” I’d like to propose an alternative solution, since there is already an East Coast “Kennedy Airport” in New York City.
You see, we have a very nice airport here in Anchorage, which recently got renamed the “Ted Stevens International Airport.” I’m proposing only a slight modification which would involve a couple hammers and chisels to take out that part that says “Stevens” and replace it with “Kennedy.” Now, hear me out. The “Ted” part could stay. It’s the same number of letters, and we could even recycle both Es and an N. So, we’re talking a K, another N, a D and a Y. This could work, Anchorage….whaddya say?
I’d like to buy another vowel, Pat; i’d like to buy a ‘Y’.
(((( Vanna floats to the board and turns over a Y and i yell “TED KENNEDY!” and i win health care and get to go to the dentist. ))))
OK, I laughed really hard at this post…THANK YOU AKM!! I say get out the hammers an chisels and get to it!
I think it’s a great idea. And hey, for any who say that he wasn’t from this part of the country, there’s always the name of one of our high schools. It was looking for a name shortly after 9/11 and they selected Todd Beamer, even though we are in Washington state, (I don’t think he was ever even here), and he was from the east coast. Nice tribute and reminder of history at the time the high school was opening.
So, yeah, it could work. Why not?
You can put Ted in front and name it: Ted’s HCR International Airport of Anchorage, AK
If Ted Kennedy airport doesn’t fly; which I am for naming it after him. You can name it HCR ( Health Care Reform); but they do not need to know what it stands for!!
Love it, love it, love it!!
where do I sign?
Another idea…….Just call it TED’s airport….painting the letters blue.
@GinnyRED57
Actually there is a Gerald R Ford International Airport. It is Michigan’s 2nd largest airport and is located in Grand Rapids MI, Ford’s hometown.
“I knew Ted Kennedy … and Ted Stevens is no Ted Kennedy” !!!
My proposal, sadly, does not work well for recycling letters.
But it is truly Alaskan: “Corrupt Bastards International Airport.”
I second Ed’s response.
Oh yea!
You’re so bad, you’re good!
Could rename Cape Cod since the cod stocks are nearly gone! Almost as many Kennedies there now as there were cod when the fishing was a viable business.
Keep Logan as Logan especially since Kennedy did much of his flying out of the Barnstable Regional Airport down in Hyannis. Rename that one.
Give me a K…….KKKK!!!
Give me an N……. NNNN!!!
Give me a D……..DDDD!!!
GIve me a Y…….YYYYY
What does it spell ??
KENNEDY!
Splendid idea AKM! Novel, I tell ya…and I love the thought process behind your recommendation ~ and even ‘robos’ require some human intervention.
Have a great weekend!
I’m with ya!! I’ve got a big hammer also too.
Reduce, resuse, recycle. Great plan!
lol akm, it would be a great idea, and hardly any chipping would be needed.
Hee-hee! As I live in MA, I would be happy to relinquish our claim on the name for this purpose!
