Voices from the Flats – Sarah Palin Slams Michelle Obama

Sarah Palin Slams Michelle Obama in Racially Charged Passage from New Book

by Geoffrey Dunn

In passages leaked from her forthcoming book America by Heart, Sarah Palin — the erstwhile quitter governor of Alaska, who now, by all indications, fancies herself as President of the United States — has taken another cheap shot at First Lady Michelle Obama.

In a passage on perceptions of racial inequality in the United States, Palin slams President Barack Obama, who, she asserts, “seems to believe” that “America — at least America as it currently exists — is a fundamentally unjust and unequal country.”

2010-11-19-americabyheart392x600.jpg
And then she goes after Michelle Obama:

Certainly his wife expressed this view when she said during the 2008 campaign that she had never felt proud of her country until her husband started winning elections. In retrospect, I guess this shouldn’t surprise us, since both of them spent almost two decades in the pews of the Reverend Jeremiah Wright’s church listening to his rants against America and white people.

The passage — coming on page 26 in a chapter entitled “We, the People” — echoes remarks made by Palin on the eve of the midterm elections, at a rally in San Jose, California, at which point she mocked remarks made by Michelle Obama during the 2008 campaign: “You know, when I hear people say, or had said during the campaign that they’ve never been proud of America,” Palin spat out. “Haven’t they met anybody in uniform yet? I get tears in my eyes when I see that young man, that young woman, walking through the airport in uniform…you too… so proud to be American.”

In fact, Michelle Obama’s remarks were made (in Madison, Wisconsin, during the 2008 campaign) in a context of Americans being “unified around some basic common issues”:

What we have learned over this year is that hope is making a comeback. It is making a comeback. And let me tell you something–for the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country. And not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change. And I have been desperate to see our country moving in that direction, and just not feeling so alone in my frustration and disappointment. I’ve seen people who are hungry to be unified around some basic common issues, and it’s made me proud.

Afterwards, the First Lady further clarified her remarks by noting that she was referencing the “record number” of young voters participating in the political process in the 2008 campaign:

For the first time in my lifetime, I am seeing people rolling up their sleeves in way that I haven’t seen and really trying to figure this out, and that’s the source of pride I was talking about.

The passages from Palin’s latest book first appeared at Palingates, where several other pages from American by Heart have also been posted. Palin followed up her comments about Michelle Obama by throwing an elbow at U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, also focusing on racial overtones:

It also makes sense, then, that the man President Obama made his attorney general, Eric Holder, would call us a “nation of cowards” for failing to come to grips with what he described as the persistence of racism.

Award-winning writer and filmmaker Geoffrey Dunn’s book The Lies of Sarah Palin: The Untold Story Behind Her Relentless Quest for Power will be published by St. Martin’s Press in April of 2011.

THAT WEARS SILK PINK UNDERWEAR!? THE ARMAGEDDON army are following sarah’ grand-parents..to wasilla land! the end will =the hate..that palin peepers have. oh, i’d love to be a sarah palin peeper..o-o-o-h i love to eat it every day!..if you ask me why, here’s what i’ll say..SARAH/BRISTOL, ARE-truly-FULL OF b-o-l-o-g-n-n-a!

    SP is not good enough to lick Michelle Obama’s shoes clean IMHO.

  4. karen marie says:

    Sarah Palin couldn’t possibly believe in a god, and especially not the Christian god she claims. If she did, she would be afraid to be such a judgmental bitch.

  5. Sarafina says:

    Is $arah also suing Palingates for jumping the gun? I saw where she’s suing Gawker.

  6. labman57 says:

    Once again, Palin has shown herself to be shallow, ignorant, irrational, delusional, petty, and vindictive — in short, everything that the tea party seeks in a political candidate.

  7. Jean says:

    Just to stay consistent with SP’s wisdom and dignity……What a nitwit and goofball. Perhaps the books should be used to wrap fish guts. It doesn’t sound like the common sensy thingy is working out too well. Perhaps she’ll shake things up in a big way and bring lots of cookies to private school students to illustrate how lucky they are while she’s mouthing off that such things (cookie eating) should be up to parents. If things get to be too much for her, Willow and Bristol can go all “mean girl” on facebook and declare critics are just jealous of their family because they are soooo succesful and declare others will go “nowhere in their lives”. They can throw in some curse words and homophobic slurs just to show their skill in dealing with conflict with dignity. The adult daughter who has developed her sense of dignity, apparently from her mom, can rail how she’s “worked her butt off” for two year because she’s a single mom as a not ready for prime time dancer. Do they notice she is similar to the American Idol contestants sited in this book whose talent is questionable but feels entitled? She said she’d rather be in the wild then in a stuffy office. I hope she means it. She said she’d run for president if its a “good thing”. It’s not!!!!!!!!!! Nitwits and goofballs!!!!!!!!!

  8. susanthe says:

    First Lady, Michelle Obama is a woman of beauty and class.

    Sarah Palin is white trailer trash. Uneducated and stupid!

    This book so far sounds as inspiring and tasteful as a kid wiping his snot on your new dry clean jacket.

  12. Progressive in VA says:

    From the little I’ve heard about Mrs. Palin’s book, sounds like she should have looked just a little more into the “vastitudity” of inspiratonal material available on the google machine and called this new tome “The Sour Grapes of Wrath.”

    Fed Up! Bernanke (Gently) Takes On Critics
    by Frank James 11:20 am — November 19, 2010

    Federal Reserve Board Chairman Bernanke explained why he’s right and his critics wrong in speeches (this speech is the more important one, this one less so) he delivered Friday defending the U.S. central bank’s controversial efforts to further jolt the sluggish U.S. economy.

    Responding to criticism both domestic (congressional Republicans, Sarah Palin etc) and foreign (China, Germany), Bernanke explained that the Fed acted to further stimulate the economy by purchasing $600 billion in Treasury bills because it beat the alternative.

    As Bernanke and other Fed officials see it, that alternative would likely condemn millions of added Americans to seemingly endless unemployment and underemployment and the U.S. economy to the doldrums far into the future. ==emphasis added. b.== [/snip]

    (full article, here: http://www.npr.org/blogs/itsallpolitics/2010/11/19/131441539/fed-up-bernanke-gently-takes-on-critics )
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Seriously: WTHolyF? $arah’s ‘criticism’/’opinion’ of this administration’s policies and actions is now considered as valid, as important, as informed as that of the [combined] congressional GOPers? Of China? Of Germany? Does *no one* understand $Ps [mainly ghostwritten] FB pages and tweets are as far as she goes? That she has NOTHING *beyond* what *others* collectively present for her? That *she* is ALL show and NO substance?
    There will always be Palin adorers, wanna-bes, and bots, the curiosity-motivated, the AKM-types taking one for the team [bless you, dear heart, for that!], and gag-getters who’ll purchase *any* book she ‘writes’, and I’m fine with that. . .
    But what the hell is it going to take to get *media* and otherwise sane, rational people to shake the Palin-Pixie-Dust from their eyes, ears, and brains so that can see, hear, and comprehend that $arah Palin is nothing but smoke and mirrors? She is photogenic (well, her face is, at any rate –if you don’t look too closely), she is ‘everywhere’ (nauseatingly, so), she is talking-point and meme-full, and she has an opinion on *everything*! under the sun, but she is nothing more, and nothing less, than a F…R…A…U…D. And that is ALL she is. When will the media and citizens wake up to that FACT? beth.
  15. Baker's Dozen says:
    Now, looks aren’t everything, but in Sarah’s case, they’re the only thing. (Sorry Mr. Lombardi)
    People should not be judged by their looks, but they are, and Sarah has made a career of it. So, if the cover AKM posted is a faithful rendition of the rill book cover, I have to ask:
    1. DOES SHE EVER WASH HER HAIR AND WHY DIDN’T HER PUBLISHER MAKE HER WASH IT!!!
    2. Why are her cheeks so pink that she looks like she belongs in a gutter singing “Sweet Adeline” with some other local colorful people?
    3. Why didn’t they air brush out the wrinkles. I’ll say it again. I’m ten years older, but I look younger than she does.
    4. If family, faith, and flag are so important, and, one assumes, in that order, then why is she only sharing the cover with the flag? Where are faith and family? And is she so insecure about the flag that she has to push that flag bracelet into my face?
    I just renewed my driver’s license. I’m betting my new license picture will look better than what they chose for the book cover. Looks like she’s getting punked–intentionally or not.
    But seriously, folks, this is the woman that spoke personally to that Sarcastic guy–you know, the prime rib of France. Or is it El Presidente? Can’t never remember those Italian titles. They all sound kind of Asian to me . . .
  16. overthemoon says:
    Surely someone has noticed this and posted it already, but Sullivan’s bit is too rich to miss:
    http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/2010/11/ygle-2.html
    “After the 2008 campaign revealed her weaknesses on substance, Palin was advised by those who admire her natural gifts to bone up on policy and devote herself to governing Alaska successfully. Instead, she quit her job as governor after two and a half years, published a book (another is due next week), and seemed to chase money and empty celebrity. Now, rather than being able to highlight the accomplishments of Sarah Palin’s Alaska, we get “Sarah Palin’s Alaska,” another cheesy entrant in the reality show genre. She’d so much rather be out dog sledding than in some “dull political office,” she tells the audience. File that… She compares herself to Reagan. But Reagan didn’t mud wrestle with the press. Palin seems consumed and obsessed by it, as her rapid Twitter finger attests, and thus encourages the sniping. She should be presiding over meetings on oil and gas leases in the North Slope, or devising alternatives to Obamacare. Every public spat with Dave Letterman or Politico, or the “lamestream media,” or God help us, Levi Johnston, diminishes her,” – Mona Charen, Townhall.
    I love the second comment:
    Sarah Palin is the only one who can bring our country back to a constitutional conservative republic. She is not part of the one world government camp and that is why the media have tried to paint her as un-electable. You have been brainwashed by the liberal media and are joining them. I will stop reading Townhall. Good bye.
    • overthemoon says:
      “She’d so much rather be out dog sledding than in some “dull political office,” she tells the audience. File that… ” bears repeating!!!!!
    • Boohbah says:
      With Palin’s dislike of the main stream media [ tv / press ], filtering and screening everything questions-appearances, fear of the general public and view points,……you know……rephrase this……actually her overall dislike and fear of the bulk USA population. If she did run for prez are we going to be restricted to Fox New/News Corp reports and access only ? and When, Where, Who Interviews and debate her will be decided by her-team at a time a place to be decided by them though subject to change based on her twitter/facebook feed and any criticisms circulation she does not agree with but knows to be true. ???
      I’m puzzled as to how this will work and how would the main stream media handle her ? To be honest I feel they would still be objective, though I would not blame them one bit if they give her a taste of real in-depth up close and personal investigative journalism. I hear there are some interesting stories to be told, whether they are true or not doesn’t matter…I’ll decide after they air.
  17. Marnie says:
    This stink bomb was billed as being Sarah’s book to show her gravitas.
    Maybe the title should be Gravitas Lite.
    Presumably it was to stand in favorable contrast to the serious political position books written by previous Presidential candidates. It doesn’t seem to have met that standard.
    That Sarah is in denial that there is racism in this country only enhances the perception that Sarah is highly disconnected from reality.
    She need look no further than her “use” of a push up bra to “get my way”, and to constantly appear in unfashionably short skirts (she just can’t keep her hands off her own bare legs can she? It must be code for something. I can’t imagine what.) and hooker boots to realize that she know there is sexism.
    If there is sexism there just might be some vestigial racism in this country.
    She has turned her tome to her gravitas into another snark mobile. To again quote the late and much missed Molly Ivins, when speaking of GHW Bush. “Deep down inside he is really shallow.”
    • overthemoon says:
      “gravitas” translates as ‘gravity’….which is just more bad science theory. God sticks us here and keeps us from falling off, don’tch know?
      • leenie17 says:
        It’s that Holy God Glue that keeps us from flyin’ off into heaven with the angels and the lil’ baby Jeebus!
      • Progressive in VA says:
        maybe she thinks “gravitas” is about “gravy,” which she has plenty of for her mashed potatoes
  18. sam hall says:
    Palin..she keeps getting farther and farther our..if that is actuality possible concerning Palin..there is definitely
    something very wrong with her…she incites hate..incities violence..definitely she is unbelievebly narcessistic.
    Someone commented on tv..that never before has a first lady of the country..been critized like that by another
    political person. Of xourse Mrs.Obama was very proud being a person of color..that a person of color could
    win the Presidency of the USA..which all Americans citizens should be..it is what this country stands for..
    seems Palin like with everything doesn t get it. Palin is so much only about herself..same with Joe
    Miller that are complete idiots…even Peggy Noonan a conservative that writes for Wall St.Journal called her
    a nincompoop… see that the Palin..Miller never hold any official office…and know that Fox news/ is not
    news at all..but only a complete proganda machine ..for Murdock who pays very little income tax on his
    media empire..so he is of course against big time…Obama and Democrats.
Her type does not represent America as a whole, people like this have only monetary and/or revenge motives, only account for a small demographic of this great nation. However, I have said this before, her people are directing her toward the path where they will make money, they understand fully that she has no political future..this is the only cash cow available..but, don’t hate her for this…who wouldn’t take multi-millions over actual moral driven, hardworking responsibility.”
    From a post over on HP:
    In order for a person to be diagnosed with narcissistic personality
    disorder (NPD) they must meet five or more of the following symptoms:
    1) Has a grandiose sense of self-importance (e.g., exaggerates
    achievements and talents, expects to be recognized as superior without
    commensurate achievements)
    2) Is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power,
    brilliance, beauty, or ideal love
    3) Believes that he or she is “special” and unique and can only be
    understood by, or should associate with, other special or high-status
    people (or institutions)
    4) Requires excessive admiration
    5) Has a very strong sense of entitlement, e.g., unreasonable
    expectations of especially favorable treatment or automatic compliance
    with his or her expectations
    6) Is exploitative of others, e.g., takes advantage of others to
    achieve his or her own ends
    7) Lacks empathy, e.g., is unwilling to recognize or identify with the
    feelings and needs of others
    8) Is often envious of others or believes that others are envious of him or her
    9) Regularly shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes
  21. leenie17 says:
    I thought that this book was supposed to be an inspirational collection of quotes and stories about people whom Palin admires (or whom she could conveniently look up on Google!). Didn’t she trash enough people in her first piece of fiction? She had to come back to slander some more…seriously?
    Actually, I think the title is an accurate one. Her heart has become a tiny, shrunken, dessicated, black, moldy piece of toxic waste, so whatever venom she spews in this book no doubt comes directly from that source. I don’t think even Cindy Lou Who could salvage that bit of refuse!
  22. n djinn says:
    I had a well read and cleaver friend ask me if I thought it was possible that the US could fall under a Fascist regiem starting with a patriotic all for martial law. Here is the hypothesis: The Teaparty gets built up and up, more and more angry and more violent. Then the call for martial law comes from the POTUS and a Fascist regiem is born. Please don’t get me confused for a Troll, I am in no way saying the current admin would pull this. But look at this election cycle, consider the upcoming bids in 2 years. We are at a point where nothing makes sense and people who lie cheat and steal get re-elected, crazy people win (in some places). The political board is in c(C)haos, nothing makes sense and however unlikely, even a mean girl with a reality TV show may really have a shot. EVERY ONE knows something is wrong and NO ONE knows what (you know what I mean)
    • bubbles says:
      yes i do know what you mean and i concur. i hope the president doesn’t have to go there. that’s why i really don’t want to see him run again. it is exactly why corporate news is doing what it is re: the Limbaughs, Palins etc.
      can’t you imagine if Pres. Obama were to have to take this country into martial law? the sight of our military under arm against or own citizens? this, i believe, is what the christian right allied with it’s corporate entities has as one of it’s goals.
      that is why i believe the president’s voice is muted. the very people who elected him have, except for a very few, abandoned him.
      very sad and very hurtful.
  24. flying pig ranch says:
    A little more has leaked about the new literary work. Commenting on the films American Beauty and Juno. So Sarah respects Simon Cowell’s criticism. I wonder what Simon would say about Sarah?
  25. ChicagoMom says:
    From what I’ve read of the pages of this book put up at Gawker, this new book is nothing but Going Rogue rewritten with a few quotes from other people thrown in! Unbelievable. It seems the only story she ever tells, the only one she is ever interested in, is the story of Sarah. I thought her first book was a waste of paper, but this one is like recycled used toilet paper! The Trig story – AGAIN. The Bristol story – AGAIN. Over and over again, the same crap.
  26. beth says:
    Three things come to mind:
    1) Haven’t we learned by now: The truth and facts are NOT necessary for $arah Palin. Ever. Truthiness is much more her ‘style.’
    Once something gets into her brain, it is there forever…in the *exact* form it entered…never alterable, never changeable, never deleted. She can be proven time and time again to be wrong, and she’ll just keep on repeating what has penetrated her brain. Sad, that.
    It’s *seriously* time for the media –ALL of it– to call her out on the chit she spews. Consistently. It’s time for the rest of us, us ordinary, sane folks, to –consistently– do the same with anyone we come in contact who [for who knows what reason!] still thinks $P is *not* a clear and present danger to our nation and its citizens.
    Sure, she’ll play the ‘victim’ card, again, (she always does, when she’s confronted with truth and facts), but it’s high time to put an end to her divisiveness, inanity, and ugly. Our nation does NOT need her — not for one damned thing. She adds nothing to the dialogue; all she does is suck hope, light, and progress out of everything.
    2) Jealousy is not an attractive trait; blinding jealousy is even less so.
    It, rightfully so, makes one look quite unbalanced and quite unstable; unable to control their thoughts and emotions.
    Mayhap that’s a lesson $arah would do well to learn.
    and,
    3) The end product [this book] seems to have radically changed from its original premise. If I remember correctly, the original premise of this book was: A collection of uplifiting stories from/about inspirational people $arah met/meets in her travels across the nation…(a ‘companion’, if you will, to the tv series she was [going to be] doing.) From what I remember of the hype when the book ‘dill’ was made, it was going to be a: “Rah-rah! Rill Amurica” — as seen through the eyes of $P.
    Apparently, though, Missy Quitty-Pants couldn’t break out of her true persona long enough to make such a book come about. She just couldn’t help it — or herself; items 1 and 2, above, just had to be overwhelmingly front and center. Because *that* is who and what she is.
    When, oh when!, will MY America wake up to the complete fraud that is $arah Palin? beth.
    • Dagian says:
      “If I remember correctly, the original premise of this book was: A collection of uplifiting stories from/about inspirational people $arah met/meets in her travels across the nation…”
      I bet she figured out early on that they’re stories and struggles were far more compelling than her own (or herself). Can’t have that, now can we? Share the limelight? Permit anyone else to be held up for admiration or emulation? Perish the thought!
      Points 1 & 2 really point me to suggesting that people could do worse than reading up on BPD (not bipolar disorder).
    The Gettysburg Address — by George W. Bush, Barack Obama and Sarah Palin
    By Alexandra Petri
    In honor of today’s date, the anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address, here are the ways some topical modern figures might render the classic speech:
    George W. Bush
    A while ago, these father guys got together and, in the America, they built a country, our country, sort of based on this premise of general free-ishness and equaltude. We are now committed to this War on Terror against the bad guys, who are trying to test our resolve. But this is America! We have the greatest army in the world, and those brave men and women are now out there checking to see if these Enemies are with us or against us, and if they’re against us, well, they’ll be hearing from us.
    Barack Obama
    Four score and seven years ago, I had a revolutionary idea. This was back when the many rich threads that weave together in the fabric of our nation still bled from the scourge of oppression in an era where dreams were a commodity to be discarded, but it was a creed that I believed, and that I still believe in, that in a generous and free America, all people are created equal and can dream dreams from their fathers or legal guardians. Now we are examining the range of possibility in these economic times for that dream I had, which is similar to the dreams of Americans from the Rust Belt, where I hear from Joan, a single mother of four, who is worried that she won’t be able to put food on the table, and from Jeff, a single mother of six, who is worried that he won’t be able to afford a table. I think, candidly, that there has been a failure of message here that has resulted in a lot of Americans becoming upset and even, in some cases, making the extreme choice to secede, but I am confident that we can resolve this, and we’ve accomplished a lot already.
    Sarah Palin
    Hello America! Hello Tea Party! More than four years ago, before the Obama administration, the original Tea Party got this great country of ours off to a real good start. They believed in liberty! And freedom! And equality! For you! And me! And all those other hard-working people who are in this country legally! Now, we’re in this for the long haul, and we aren’t retreating, we’re reloading, in order to refudiate this notion that the Lamestream Media has been generatin’ that this isn’t how you run a government.
    The inspiration for this post comes from the original Gettysburg Address and the Oliver Jensen classic, “The Gettsyburg Address in Eisenhowerese,” which can be found here.
  28. Jen says:
    OOPS! when is went. I also just checked on Michelle’s college experience. She went to Princeton as an undergraduate and then Harvard Law. Incredible resume!
  29. Jen says:
    Also, Palin must notice the Obamas are raising fantastically articulate and accomplished children despite the harsh glare of the media. And if you notice Michelle Obama went to several colleges because she graduated from each and when on to the next to acquire graduate degrees. This is how it is done.
    • Dagian says:
      It must make the Palin family’s collective heads spin off when they look and see that Chelsea Clinton earned great grades in high school in a very academically rigourous program, did the same as an undergraduate, then went to graduate school and a job.
  30. Jen says:
    I think the issue that bothers Sarah most of all regarding her public persona is how we notice her obvious poor parenting skills and lack of compassion for her children. Most mothers would not wish a pregnant teen-age daughter to be exposed to public scrutiny and judgment — no matter the spin. Sarah Palin simply could not check her ego and admit she wasn’t vice presidential material — she callously marched forward. I am not making any value judgment about Bristol’s pregnancy, I am simply saying SP’s lack of empathy was so sad to witness. I think that is why she tries to make it up to Bristol by promoting her as he does — Candies and DWTS. Unfortunately, it is such a poor substitute for an education that might have honed Bristol’s innate talents. Sarah repeatedly has talked up Bristol’s great grades, so why didn’t she get a good nanny and help Bristol apply and get into the college of Bristol’s choice? There is no lack of money but a lack of values in the family regarding secondary education. Also, there is no getting around the obvious neglect of Trig during Sarah’s labor. No way a loving and protective mother would have taken such a chance as Sarah did flying from Texas to Alaska leaking amniotic fluid. Sarah’s excuses are entirely without merit. Overriding self interest is Sarah Palin’s fatal flaw.
  31. Zyxomma says:
    I thought I wouldn’t comment about $P for a while, because I don’t want to give her energy (see Christopher Walken as Wesley in Homeboy if you don’t know what I’m talking about).
    However, having visited Palingates, thus having seen the “leaked” clips, I must say something. Harper Collins should hire a new ghostwriter or editor. There’s no way this twit, who revels in her own ignorance, was familiar with the word “brio.” That it was used correctly shows me someone else wrote it (referencing John Kennedy, for those who aren’t reading the clips). I wonder whether this was done purposely, to prove to the world that she’s smart.
    If $arah Payme ever heard the word brio, she would assume it was some kind of French cheese doodle.
  32. Davester says:
    Sarah Palin is nothing more than a female Rush Limbaugh.
    • Hope says:
      Davester,
      As wild as Rush is, when you hear him he is consistent and to some degree a professional. If Rush turned on her it would be interesting. She is tossing stuff out wildly to see what sticks.
      She did not get the Republican memo to (Cease and Desist). She may have forgotten the part that the Republicans won the recent elections and it is time for them to put up or shut up. The political rhetoric can stop now please. She has been in campaign mode for the last 2 years like a bitter loser. If she would have stood up to the ethic complaints and actually finished her job in Alaska, maybe her rants would have more merit. She is an attractive walking billboard for the Republican mantra but where is beef (so to speak)????? If she was fat or ugly there would not a Sarah to brand. And that is not being sexist.
      • Hope says:
        I see Rush as a performer. A performance that I don’t like but never the less…
        • bubbles says:
          Rush Limbaugh is not a performer. he means every mean ,disgusting thing he says. he and the people who listen to him and who make allowances for him need to get gone from our national discourse.
          Limbaugh, Beck, O’Reilly, Murdoch, Palin, Malkin, Manning; and every last one of their ilk and liking are traitors to everything for which this nation should stand.
          we don’t have to stand tall but we do have to UP…. and no never the less…
      • Millie says:
        Rush Limbaugh is the most sickening thing on the airwaves today. I don’t know how he lives within his body and soul with the constant daily ranting and raving about President Obama! He’s been doing it every day for the past three years. And, now his racial commentary should absolutely be stopped. Putting President Obama on Mt. Rushmore as graffiti was the worst I could have imagined he’d do and I truly wish he was pulled from the air. Yes, I know – ‘freedom of speech’ – but, what about treason, inciting, etc.?
        The sickest thing is that he has a huge following and people believe what he says. He’s not too big to fail!
        • LibertyLover says:
          Why do you think he became addicted to oxycontin? he has to numb the pain of what he is putting out there somehow. He may not admit it, even to himself.
          • Hope says:
            Okay. I stand corrected. I am not condoning his behavior. Just figured he was a do anything for money kind of guy.
        • Hope says:
          Millie,
          I think selling out for money and saying anything to make a buck is being pretty well being gone. There isn’t much left but a beating heart and a wacky performance.
  33. ChicagoMom says:
    It’s bad enough the way she talks about the President and First Lady in this book, but her bringing up Malia is outrageous and hypocritical, given the way she goes after anyone who mentions anything about her kids. But none of that is surprising. What is surprising is that she’s making herself look so bad just when she’s weighing a presidential run and is in the middle of a big media make-over. See NYT Sunday mag cover story for an example of the journalistic garbage we’re in for.
  34. Wallflower says:
    Michelle Obama is too strong, too comfortable in her own skin, too smart, too confident and too gracious to be dinged by the yapping of some demi-celebrity with an unscripted TV show and a book of quotes that can be found via Google.
  35. Terry in Maryland says:
    Sarah, hon, a couple of points.
    – Michelle went to multiple colleges, like you did, but she graduated from each. She didn’t jump around from place to place until she could find one that would let her get a degree.
    – Michelle’s an accomplished woman, with a solid career before she put that aside temporarily to be First Lady. She didn’t quit two jobs early (Governorship, oil board) or leave a town government a shambles.
    – Michelle’s kids are sweet kids that she shields from the spot light. Not poorly mannered devils, posting garbage on facebook, getting knocked up by local half-wits, not being shilled by their mother in front of the camera for the mother’s profit and convenience.
    So, Sarah, go ahead and pick at her. You’re showing your classlessness and insecurity, which in this case is very well founded. You can’t hold a candle to Michelle and you never will.
  36. Hope says:
    “There is no greater fear than the one we harness as our own.”
    Unknown who said that????
    • teutonic13 says:
      FDR ?
    • Dagian says:
      FDR said, “There is no greater fear, than fear itself.”
      I can’t find the one you wrote–but it’s definitely a keeper. Even Barlett’s let me down.
      But I like these:
      Author: Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
      Alike were they free from
      Fear that reigns with the tyrant, and envy the vice of republics.
      . . . . . . .
      They are slaves who dare not be
      Stanzas on Freedom.
      Author: Diogenes Laërtius
      Asked what he gained from philosophy, he answered, “To do without being commanded what others do from fear of the laws.”
      Aristotle. xi.
      Author: Diogenes Laërtius
      One ought to seek out virtue for its own sake, without being influenced by fear or hope, or by any external influence. Moreover, that in that does happiness consist.
      Zeno. liii.
  37. Just Me says:
    Vindictive, hate filled, jealous, controlling, narcissistic, liar: Welcome to Sarah’s World. How do I find the exit to a place where I NEVER hear her name again?
  38. Progressive in VA says:
    Sarah Palin Is …
    In an alternate reality, Sarah Palin is a holographic art piece titled Souvenir: Pandora’s Rogue Box, an ironic gift to the United States from France “in recognition of the exceptionally destructive nature of America’s brand of unbridled capitalism and the exceptionally nihilistic fusion of American imperial power and apocalyptic christianism.”
    In a review of the work for ArtofPolitics/PoliticsasWar.com, Margaret Nooner states: “The scathing, new-media hologram titled Souvenir: Pandora’s Rogue Box, rendered in neo-absurdist style by the hipster art collective camuz complaint, features an angry-visaged woman holding, in one hand, a compad twiting: Give me ur aggrvtd, ur zlus, ur armd. Th rtchd rfudiatd of ur elite horde. Snd thz, th cluls, adl-brnd 2 me, I plow my way thru anothr door! and in the other hand (written-upon and ever-defiantly thrusting overhead) a continuously-morphing array of props: M4 assault rifle, plate of cookies, tube of lipstick, copy of the political manifesto Tools as Radicals, dead fish, large order of freedom fries, one of her brood, wolf’s foreleg, pair of knitting needles, Bible, pair of Haughty Chunky wedge sandals, document alleged to be the U.S. Constitution, hockey stick, and an amorphous blob labeled “political dinosaur’s last shred of honor torn and tattered.” She stands atop a mound of broken and bloody bodies (political enemies, statues of Veritas and Libertas, various species rendered extinct by rapacious environmental policies, trophy and bounty-hunted animals) and at her feet is anchored an armada — each ship is flying the Jolly Roger and all are filled with cash and booty.
    Souvenir resembles the “help me Obi-Wan Kenobi” communiqué of Star Wars film heroine Princess Leia in both its production values and in its limited, frantic, cryptic, and looped verbal message: “so help me, Obama is Kenyan.” In contrast, the voice is shrill and grating, the projection’s hue is red instead of blue, and the femme fatale’s hooded cape is not made of flowing white cloth but of a grizzly hide still in possession of the unfortunate ursa’s head. Additionally, there is no mention of hope…
    Ultimately, I am left to wonder: what is the point?”
    Ouch. Even in alternate realities, critics are harsh.
  39. teutonic13 says:
    Sara sounds like she is trying to start a Race war. Black people are to her, what the Jews were to Hitler.
    Her book should be renamed- “Mein Kampf”.
  40. Rick says:
    Jealousy, it’s all just pure jealousy. The Obamas have what Sarah considers to be hers. She can’t control her envy and rejection.
  41. Winski says:
    WHEN is someone that makes living at being part of the alleged media anywhere around the globe going to call Palin out for being a bigot, a homophobe, a pure racist and a liar?? Haven’t we the people had enough of her family’s antics??
    She gets the opportunity to make this kind of rabid fantasy talk up about people that Ailes and beck and hannratty tell her is ok, then NO ONE SEEMS TO CARE!! NO REBUTTAL IS OFFERED. IF SOMEONE SPEAKS OUT, THEY SEEM TO COWER AT THE FEET OF THIS STUPIDITY MACHINE…. Is EVERYONE WHO HAS A MEDIA VOICE AS SPINELESS AS IT APPEARS???
    STOP! This woman is dangerous…
  42. scout says:
    The antacid:
    “President Obama released a book this week: “Of Thee I Sing: A Letter to My Daughters” is a picture book for kids about the lives of 13 great Americans. In it, the president asks questions of his girls while offering something of a history lesson about figures like George Washington and baseball great Jackie Robinson. The book opens with, “Have I told you lately how wonderful you are?”
    The president will donate any author proceeds to a scholarship fund for the children of fallen and disabled soldiers serving our nation.”
    Just bought my book. Thinking about buying several more for gifts. Has anyone read the President’s book????? http://www.amazon.com/Thee-Sing-Letter-My-Daughters/dp/037583527X
    He is donating his portion to a good cause. Check it out. I am so proud to have a President that would write a book and give it to a great cause. He wrote this book prior to becoming President.
    Another cause. Thinking of my family of soldiers. I love our soldiers!!!
    “She is sooooo jealous of Michelle Obama!”
    ******************************************************************************************************************
    yep! and so am i. i am jealous of Michelle’s arms. so i been toning them by cleaning the mirrors in my house….and dancing to firm up my tush ’cause i am also jealous of Michelle’s tush also. too.
    i am jealous of Michelle’s jewelry but my sisters bought me some. you bought me a bracelet and a necklace and Mel bought me earrings last week so am not jealous of her bling. i got bling too.also.
    i am jealous of Michelle’s long legs but my Boo says i got babydoll legs and he likes them just as they are. besides i am short and if i had Michelle’s long legs i wouldn’t have no tush or nothin’ cause them long legs would go up to my neck so that would be problematic. lessee what else?
    i am jealous ’cause Michelle is smart but Merry sent me a book yesterday for my birfday . the book is about the twentieth century by Ken Follett. i will read it and get smart.
    if i keep trying, one day i won’t be so jealous of Michelle Obama. if i keep myself moving and learning and doing my very best, one day, Michelle Obama will be proud of the likes of me just as i am so proud of her….jealousy be damned.
  46. Lacy Lady says:
    I am sure that the witch can’t stand it , that Obama isn’t taking the “bait”. So now she is attacking Michelle.
    Funny how she attacks the Chicago church that Obama attended ——What about that Witch Doctor who prayed over her at the Wasilla church.
  47. TrueBlueGirl says:
    OK, I posted above with my thoughts. Now let’s have a little fun and get petty: THOSE BARE ARMS -what an epic fail in the competition with Michelle Obama! So pathetic, her need to compete, combined with her inability to understand how others actually see her. Would be an otherwise enjoyable karmic show except that she’s so dangerous.
    • Irishgirl says:
      I’ll bite. There was some fat jiggling away when she moved those arms. 🙂
      She is sooooo jealous of Michelle Obama!
      • TrueBlueGirl says:
        She’s also got the push-up bra going on, with the low cut neckline, in one of her Fox segments Shheesh! And I STILL cannot quite get over her wearing the black bra under the thin white t-shirt at the Kentucky Derby, of all places and events… trash acts trashy, I suppose. And it seems she’s becoming more manic and out-of-control, day by day. Would be sad if she wasn’t such a nasty piece of work.
    • slipstream says:
      Maybe she misunderstood about “the right to bear arms” ??
  48. Mattie says:
    Yah, that Kelly clarkston and Carrie underwood are so lazy and talentless.this woman is crazy. She thinks idol is drivel but dwts for Bristol (talentless) is fun and good and spiritual and god like. Also too, on wapo she wrote about killing a caribou. Malia pitman pretty much proved she did not have a license. Why has she not been investigated?
  49. frsbdg says:
    Wow. She’s not “low class,” she’s “no class.” And she continues to embarrass each and every one of us Alaskans on a daily basis.
  50. tigerwine says:
    Thanks, Mudpups, for all the above. Saved me from having to rant!
  51. Southernmuse says:
    As far as Mrs. Palin is concerned, all publicity is good publicity. Look at what constitutes her faithful following. They eat this stuff up. It’s their gospel. And that is why the rest of us have to stay on our toes.
  52. Xenon says:
    “We, the People?!” More like, “I, the Jury.”
  53. g says:
    Another class-less moment by Sarah Palin was when she distorted then-candidate Obama’s plea to the media to lay off her family, and accused him of asking the media to lay off his family, with the unspoken implication that he was fine with the media going after her family. This alone telegraphed to me her lack of civility.
    I believe she said this on the campaign trail and then also wrote it in Going Rogue.
    • Bretta says:
      Agreed
    • Irishgirl says:
      And she has the nerve to mention Malia in her book. If I were the Obamas, I would really be upset to have my daughter’s name mentioned in that excuse for a book.
      • Dagian says:
        I think they’re going to let it roll off of their backs. Let’s be honest here, a side-by-side comparison of their children and their behaviour and accomplishments would only make her family look pretty lackluster.
        It’s like comparing and contrasting any one of her kids at 18+ to Chelsea Clinton.
        Plus Chelsea kept herself out of trouble even when she was a minor.
    • Dagian says:
      Better still, it’s documented that he said to lay off of her daughter.
      http://www.npr.org/blogs/politics/2008/09/obama_leave_bristol_alone.html
      Let us hope that not only do the literary critics pick up on that outrageous lie, so does everyone else.
  54. Ali girl says:
    SP cannot handle anyone that is admired more than she. She is so obsessed with the vision she has of herself, she has become paranoid. Her girls are following in her footsteps. No one is allowed to comment about her. TRUTH really hurts her.
  55. flying pig ranch says:
    I have always agreed with Michelle Obama about being proud of my country that appeared to be coming together and accepting each other without the hate and prejudice on our own soil and with other nations on this planet. I came of age during the Viet Nam, Watergate, the civil rights movement, and several major assassinations time frame. I had the audacity to hope that Obama would encourage unity and a new beginning. The “Yes We Can!” rapidly turned into no you won’t.
    I am beginning to think that the only way anyone will be able to stop Sarah will be with a massive Botox injection. The lame stream media has given Sarah Palin a daily free forum to promote herself. By putting her in the news everyday, she is a cash cow to their ratings.
    I would love to see Roseanne Barr do a show about the Palin’s. If you recall, perhaps she already has…..and it’s in reruns.
    • lilybart says:
      Part of why the last election was so emotional for me was that we actually elected a Black person as president. HUGE breakthrough. I was SO proud of us! The world was shocked we did it.
      Then it made all the racists crawl out from under their rocks, but at least we see them now.
      • LoveMyDogs says:
        The earth actually shook for me on that night (as the tears streamed down my cheeks). Something deep and profound occurred in the cosmos and there is NOTHING that all of the hate-filled pundits and politicians and their followers on earth can do about that. They can whine and shout and yell their “He*& Nos” but what happened that night cannot ever be changed. I truely believe this and it is where my deep abiding “Hope” lives deep in my soul.
        It is akin to the sound barrier being broken. Once it happens, there is no going back.
        I will work with every fiber of my being (for the rest of my life) to be sure that this remains to be true.
        • Irishgirl says:
          I cried too LMDs. I remember that night so vividly. I was so happy Obama was elected and so relieved that Palin was nowhere near the WH. I woke my husband at some ungodly hour of the morning…and he was great, he got up and we watched the acceptance speech together.
          That was a truly amazing night. I remember only getting two hours sleep and as luck would have it….my bathroom was being renovated the following morning. A man arrived and proceeded to smash the old bathtub. The noise was defeaning and there was no way on earth I could grab a few minutes of sleep. However, I was exhausted, but happy.
          Go President Obama.
        • Gimme-a-break, Sarah says:
          I had the exact same reaction. My whole family was gathered around the television, watching. We were all very emotional and knew we were witnessing the kind of history that you tell your great-grandkids about years later.
          We all had such a strong sense of witnessing something very profound and earth shaking. As I looked at those beautiful black faces, I was so full of joy that I could not stop crying. Then I remembered that Barack’s mother was white, and that gave the moment even more significance for me. It felt like a very significant and deep “coming together” in the soul/psyche of our country; the beginnings of a healing of sorts.
          Your sound barrier analogy is perfect.
  56. Diane says:
    All her remarks about people are jealousy and hate pure and simple. If she wasn’t sarah palin then she would be that women(or man) that we all know, that nasty person that nobody wants to be seen with, that tears everybody apart and does not have one good thing to say about anybody. The kind you hide from so you don’t have talk to.
    She never write anything nice, unless it is about herself, family or friends. If she doesn’t like somebody, they have to be destroyed. Everybody has some good in them somewhere. Christians look for that goodness. Palin looks for the weakness and exploits them for her own gain.
    She is not a nice person. Her behavior and her charm are used for whats she wants. People like palin are manipulative and vindictive. She should never be anywhere where a cool head and diplomacy need to prevail.
    I feel so very sorry for her children. How sad to be brought up thinking people are to be used and everybody is out to get you.
    • bubbles says:
      Diane you are absolutely correct when you say: All her remarks about people are jealousy and hate pure and simple.
      *******************************************************************************************************************
      Sarah Palin is a psychopath. i am amazed that people keep pretending that this woman is human in any way. it is a very hard concept for most of us to understand. we all want to treat people as human beings worthy of our respect and we feel that these beings can be made whole. they can’t be made whole. not now. not ever. it is a terrible thing to accept but we must if we are to deal with her presence among us. we can’t respond to her words whether spoken or written as communication from another human.
      understand this: Sarah Palin does not love.she doe not love herself because she has no self. there is no conscience. there is no feeling of shame.there is only nothingness. her husband and children are her supply. the people who love her and give her what she wants are simply more supply. even the the people who understand fully what she is and hate and despise her supply her with attention and give her a sense of being fully human when she is anything but. here is just a small excerpt from Dr. Robert Hare. Dr. Hare is an eminent psychiatrist who is also a scientist:
      http://grrow.posterous.com/psychopaths-among-us-3-full-documentarys
      By Robert Hertcz…… “Psychopath! psychopath!”….. … I’m alone in my living room and I’m yelling at my TV. “Forget rehabilitation — that guy is a psychopath.” Ever since I visited Dr. Robert Hare in Vancouver, I can see them, the psychopaths. It’s pretty easy, once you know how to look. I’m watching a documentary about an American prison trying to rehabilitate teen murderers. They’re using an emotionally intense kind of group therapy, and I can see, as plain as day, that one of the inmates is a psychopath. He tries, but he can’t muster a convincing breakdown, can’t fake any feeling for his dead victims. He’s learned the words, as Bob Hare would put it, but not the music.
      1. Glibness/superficial charm
      there we have it. i urge all Mudpups to acquaint to yourselves with Dr Hare and the work he does.
  57. LibertyLover says:
    Here are my thoughts for what they are worth…
    First of all: Michelle Obama will have enough class to ignore this attack on her person. Unlike Mrs. Palin.
    Second: Why does Mrs. Palin feel the need to attack a 19 year old young man named Levi?
    Third: Mrs. Palin appears to have been born with an enormous chip on her shoulder.
    Forth and finally: whatever lesson Mrs. Palin was put on this earth to learn, I wish she would go ahead and learn it and leave the rest of us out of it.
    • OMG says:
      Well said.
    • Irishgirl says:
      She continues to attack Levi in order to discredit him. She is very afraid of him and what he might tell the world.
      • bubbles says:
        if she continues to pay him off she won’t have to worry. at least until his mother is released from her jail sentence which she serves at home. Sarah has Levi by the short hairs so long as his mother is in jeopardy. we all know that she and her thugs still have Wasilla and it’s people pretty much silenced.
        • who me? says:
          Do you know how much longer the jail sentence is?
      • prisonernumbersix says:
        These relentless vicious attacks on Levi by Sarah Palin since he lived with her and her family in the Palin home have confounded me every time a new attack surfaces. The only rational scenario I can envision is too despicable to put into words.
        • bubbles says:
          me too Prisoner6. i think i know what you are thinking and i wouldn’t be surprised at all. it would fit right in her pathology. i have seen this kind of thing before. she wouldn’t be able not to do it.
          • prisonernumbersix says:
            Bubbles, you are a Gentlelady and a scholar! We both know that the potential truth is beneath the the decorum of Mudflats, but reality may someday prevail!
        • Boohbah says:
          What Levi is the Father of Sarah’s last child not the Todd ?
    • mag the mick says:
      But look at the majority of middle-aged or older, white, middle class people in this country. You know, the group that votes Republican. They have had a lifetime of the best of everything, yet they seem to have an immense collective chip on thier shoulders. They are angry and aggrieved, probably because American society has changed so much, without their permission, and they are the demographic who are coming out in droves in support of Palin. People who are angry and frightened are probably the easiest to manipulate, and the right-wing Republican party knows this.
      People, especially the main-stream media, have to recognize this. I was dismayed watching Barbara Walters host Palin. When Palin said she could beat Obama, Ms. Walters didn’t question or challenge her. She looked on disapprovingly but said nothing. That’s all it takes.
      • Hope says:
        There are a lot of women in this range that can’t stand her actions. They are educated/ some not with all do respect and do not think like this. They are faithful to the Republican party and not to Palin. I don’t classify them in any way. Palin is a bipartisan insult to several women.
        A bulldog can produce an awful bite but a bad mouth cuts beyond the skin. I respect a lot of Republican women who think differently than I do. What I do not respect is mega public voices that insult half the world that do not think like them. There is nothing exceptional about that.
      • I See Villages from my House says:
        Barbara is a puff piece pro. LSM if you will.
        If Babs were a real journalist, she’d have asked why Sarah felt there Isreal was going experience this mass infusion of immigrants that were going to need housing on the Gaza strip.
        it’d be nice to hear the basis of Sarah’s Isreali Intelligence.
        That should be jaw dropping for mainstream Christians and the inexplicable support she gets from any in the Jewish community.
        • Progressive in VA says:
          Exactly! I would love to hear Mrs. Palin’s explanation for this new exodus. The interview with Baba Wawa wasn’t the first time Palin has talked about the reverse diaspora, but people just keep letting it pass by without any follow up. Cry me a river, how long do we have to wait for some accountability?
        • dowl says:
          We may be appalled at the number of Evangelical Christians who may buy into this ‘alliance’ with Israel. The Armageddon Now crowd wants to be ‘raptured’ up to heaven and this appears (somewhat shady theology) to not happen until after Zion/Israel rebuilds the temple (center of the world, ready for the return of Jesus the Christ).
          What the Christians do not necessarily reveal is that if Jews do not convert to Christianity, they are doomed to hell, also too (shhh…they don’t want Israel to know that’s the plan). Rev. John Hagee knows the truth and has it all figured out–remember him? John McCain had to kick the Reverend to the curb after actively seeking his endorsement in the run-up to the 2008 presidential campain.
        Interesting thing about that…
        There is a thing called body language and sometimes it betrays what you really think. Sarah is not very good at hiding her “tells” so to speak. Take a look at that clip. Sarah takes a very long, and I mean a very long blink as she answered that she thought that she could beat Obama. I don’t believe that SHE believes she can. Sometimes when people blink like that, that means they are trying not to allow the lie to come out. Excessive eye blinking doesn’t by itself prove she is lying (to herself or others) but I do think that it is interesting to note that it is different than her normal blink pattern.
    • Terpsichore says:
      Agree with first through third, respectfully disagree with you about ‘fourth’.
      First off, I am now pretty sure Sarah Plain will never learn. She has had what I think are enough opportunities. If she were going to have done it, she would have started heading down that road way before now. It totally fits in with her personality. To even suggest there is anything she needs to learn is perceived as an attack – crazy, I know, because nobody is perfect, but there it is.
      Second, I think she was put on this earth for US to learn something, something having to do with how we deal with celebrity and politics in the TV and Internet Age in which every aspect of our lives devolves (if we let it) into the arena of entertainment.
      I may have mentioned it before, but please please please, read Dr. Neil Postman’s book “Amusing Ourselves to Death”. Even though an older book (pre-internet) nearly everything in it relates to exactly what we are seeing happening today.
      The very few criticisms of the book I have read generally have to do with the fact that he does slam TV rather hard as being an ineffective messenger of complex facts and arguments because it is (as I also believe) a “box of entertainment”. His argument is that all TV shows, like news and religious programs, are therefore ‘dumbed down’ and/or ‘sensationalized’ to help make them entertaining to the masses.
      However, that does not take into account that one person’s boredom is another person’s entertainment. Some people think crossword puzzles are tedious, while others get hours of entertainment out of them. Likewise, some people are really entertained by intelligent people discussing dry facts (like some show on PBS for example) whereas others dismiss them as ‘boring’.
      Anyway, I think I said this earlier. Kennedy was our first TV presidential candidate. We had to deal with the reality of what the new medium of TV was going to have on our politics and our voting.
      Likewise now. Sarah Palin may be our first Reality-Show TV presidential candidate, and we will have to deal with the reality of what that means to our politic discourse and voting.
      • Hope says:
        Good insight. Our high paid celebrities are reality stars. We have switched from having our celebrities displaying true talent to allowing them to just be attractive, rude, sexual, etc. We award people for telling lies and being extreme. Go figure. We are desenitized. Empathy is a hidden art. Very sad.
      • LibertyLover says:
        I’m not sure that appearing on a reality show (while at the same time trashing the reality show format in her book) gives her the where with all to be President. I don’t see how that shows that you are a leader in any way. A media star maybe, but not a President.
        Palin has shown that she isn’t interested in Governing. She may be a candidate, but my guess is that she won’t get past the primaries.
  58. I See Villages From My House says:
    So Sarah’s pulling a conservative LSM tactic of Sherrod’ing Michelle Obama. We heard her complaints about the Obama’s since her VP Intro speech (which everyone still marvels she delivered flawlessly despite her use of a teleprompter, also too) and none of what AKM highlights is of any surprise – but for her to still harp on it, insisting that their past words and record is still suspect and subject to national debate – only makes Sarah’s record so vulnerable to further, harsher vetting.
    Sarah keeps forgetting that the attacks can go both ways, and though that AP article the other day says that Palin used her Facebook to continually dig at Murkowski, she never responded (until her Couric interview.) So, in a nation of adult leaders, this is how we conduct ourselves and we ask that of their families too.
    Interesting observations from the New York Times article, in the face of the reality that Sarah’s limited hobby as a half-term Governor, is that she’s now eclipsed her ‘years’ of experience as a State’s Chief Executive being a private citizen.
    “I know that a hurdle I would have to cross, that some other potential candidates wouldn’t have to cross right out of the chute, is proving my record. That’s the most frustrating thing for me — the warped and perverted description of my record and what I’ve accomplished over the last two decades. It’s been much more perplexing to me than where the lamestream media has wanted to go about my personal life. And other candidates haven’t faced these criticisms the way I have.”
    I’ll agree with what she said, her governing record is perverted. We no longer have to look at it with rose colored glasses. I look forward to taking on her record on the City Council, Mayoral, Oil & Gas Commission and Gubernatorial dalliances.
    Palin was referring to “getting in there and cleaning up corruption, taking on the oil companies and the good old boys in the party, things like the natural-gas pipeline” and “getting things out of the government’s hands, like the state-owned dairy creamery in Alaska.” – Oh my my my, yes, let’s talk about your phantom natural-gas pipeline Sarah, and your infamous Dairy Creamery!
    What’s most important to me, is that she keeps talking, keep’s having her name appear on ‘authored’ books, that she keeps “writing,” “tweeting,” and whatnot so that we can use it against her. We can’t twist her own words the way she twists the intent of the President or the First Lady.
    It’s unfortunate that she still makes LSM news cycles with her unconfirmed Facebook and Tweeting posts without the benefit of vetting her knowledge, expertise and grasp of what she purports to know anything about. But we relish the day we get access to her outside her comfort zone, and I’m not talking about being in Hollywood audience.
    Sarah remains a walking wedge issue, and that she still smarts from those that quit enabling her bipartisan image is pretty hilarious. That she thinks she can morph her perverse celebrity into mainstream, electorate appeal no matter the economic climate is what is the most audacious, not that a half-black son of a single mother with International and national carpetbag lifestyle can become the leader of the free world – and that his very smart, black wife can be the First Lady. . .it isn’t that Sarah is a woman that we have issues. It isn’t that her daughters are ill-mannered, overweight or possibly pregnant. It isn’t that she supposedly chose life for a down syndrome diagnosed fetus. It isn’t even that she has conservative values, it is all about the fact that she is not fit to lead. Especially in a developed country.
    Go sell your “books” Sarah. Sell your ‘modestly’ spun folksy Frontier Superwoman narrative with the most stunning prop around, our Alaska. Keep raking in your dough and fandom. It won’t translate into leadership qualities, it won’t sell your mental and intellectual fitness. Just because you put yourselves out there doesn’t mean you are a hard worker and have a servants heart. You are a fraud and a sham and a shame. They got VERY quiet when “those” people became part of their family in the form of great-grandchildren.
      Now, their thinking may not have changed much–but they got VERY quiet.
      I think there is a proverb, somewhere that goes like this:
      “We don’t kill our enemies. We marry them.”
      Yeah. Even the staunchest Republican Catholic Polish-Americans can find themselves on the inside, looking out, when suddenly it’s about THEIR family.
      • Hope says:
        Growing up conservative this was the norm, at least in what I saw. Certain things were pointed out quickly as being against this “type of person,” or “that type of behavior.” There was this sad fear of different. There was a strong literal interpretation of the bible. Hell was where a person was headed if they crossed well known lines. Thank heavens for my family who changed through their experiences and also believed in a deeper respect for diversity, acceptance and belief in rights of all. They encouraged me to get out of my little town and be open to a big world full of incredible people who think differently. Ignorance did not have to be my reality. I had never seen a person of color or had met a person who was out. That changed and so did my learned fear.
        Some of my conservative beliefs have remained as they relate to my religion. However, I do not believe in the literal meaning of the bible and many people do not. I respect other religions and have no fear. I believe that our soilders have a right to be who they are (gay or straight). I also believe that women need to hold onto their rights and be strong voices to see more of their rights come to fruition. I was taught to walk a mile in another mans shoes. And remember that poverty is real and giving may be jgiving a hand up instead of a narrow belief that it is always a hand-out. While I respect others who think differently, I pray for a more united country from the real dangers we face. SP is example of fear and there is nothing there to truly fear.
        When I tap into why she bothers me it is simple. She is anti-hope and anti-change to all women. I may not always jump on the bandwagon of total disdain or controversies for this woman. I think too much energy is given away to her and makes her only more popular. There are a lot of men that are pulling the strings of our political wallets who would probably put her to shame if they were brought out in public eye. I am glad that she is in the light of day to remind me that on this planet, her voice is not the dominant voice of all Americans. She would never have my vote because hyperbolic political rhetoric is just that. There are no solutions, substance or compromise in ignorant extremes.
      I wonder how she treats the members of her extended family who have more Native blood than her husband or children. Then again, we saw how she treated the rural villages when they were starving a couple of years ago. That pretty much said it all.
  62. TrueBlueGirl says:
    Let’s remember that Sarah Palin began her political career by transforming – for no reason other than it served her ends – what had always been a collegial and friendly mayoral race in Wasilla into a nasty (and completely fictitious) smear campaign, in which she began alleging that her opponent was not a Christian and was not even actually married to his wife! And as I recall, it was the first time she tapped her posse at that pentecostal church to help her achieve her goals. What a happy discovery it must have been for Sarah, to learn how much EASIER it is to throw out lies and deceptions, and what a BLESSING she had in using the secular power of faith-based followers. Last, she is the one who plainly stated her moral code: I can do anything I want until I’m stopped. I have come to believe that Sarah Palin is a test for us, our democracy, and our very souls. I do not say this lightly or rhetorically: she is a certain kind of evil, incarnate, walking among us.
    • ks sunflower says:
      Wow – I did not know that she had spread that kind of rumor – and just for the sake of winning the piddly post of Mayor of a small town. Gosh, that is blind ambition!
      I, too, think Palin represents more than just a aging woman desperate for attention who gets off by generating division. She does indeed give us a choice. By how we chose sides for 2012 we will know ourselves and our neighbors. We will know how much we each really believe in the America we were raised to love, the ideals of our faith and community. I can only hope people chose carefully and stand against what she represents.
        Here’s the relevant passage from page 5:
        “Within a few months, Palin was officially challenging Stein and exploiting the cultural shift masterfully. She welcomed a national anti-abortion group in to carpet bomb Wasilla with pink postcards affirming her pro-life bona fides. She orchestrated an NRA endorsement and a mailing from the group falsely proclaiming Stein, a lifelong hunter, “anti-gun.” (Stein complained to the local newspaper that Palin was telling voters he wanted to “melt down” all the firearms in the state.) And, in a move practically out of Karl Rove’s playbook, she dwelled on how Stein’s wife used her maiden name, going so far as to demand a marriage certificate as proof of their nuptials. Palin’s campaign literature proclaimed her “deeply devoted to conservative family values”–all in the context of an ostensibly nonpartisan election. (Stein himself was a moderate Republican.)”
People thought that she would have to play by the political rules to survive.
      Instead, she has gone on to be the front runner for the GOP nomination. Instead, the media hangs on every word and treats her with a respect that she has not earned.
      I suggest that we not underestimate her or the power of an electorate to cast their votes for someone unqualified to serve in the highest office in the country.
I don’t underestimate her celebrity but she is obviously appealing to her base.
          I have faith that the Republicans realize that they have a rogue one in the mist. If saying “no” to the President was an art form. Buckle up and watch the fire works, we are about to see a Republican positioning tour. As a moderate Dem almost Indep, she is a major turnoff. She has become known for her over the top rhetoric.           the essay goes on to say:
          n the 1920’s and 1930’s, rising anti-Semitism was propelled, in part, by conspiracy theories alleging that Jewish bankers such as the Rothschild banking family controlled both the German and world economies through the manipulation of global money markets. Leaders in Sarah Palin’s religious tendency have for years been promoting extremely similar conspiracy theories. Some of these allege that the Rothschild banking family heads an international conspiracy that dominates much of the world economy and controls the U.S.economy through the Federal Reserve. In the 1980’s and 1990’s that conspiracy theory was folded into a apocalyptic meta-conspiracy narrative claiming that Jews and “Illuminati” controlled, or were close to controlling, the US government and were plotting to implement a “New World Order.” The narrative went on to claim that the Jewish/Illuminati conspiracy was imminently ready to call up hundreds of thousands of foreign troops hidden on US army bases and in National Parks, who would round up patriotic Christians and pack them into trains which would bring them to internment camps where, in some versions of the narratives, those Christians would be slaughtered via machine guns, guillotines, ovens, or poison gas.
          Sarah Palin and her thugs are set to make things very difficult for Jews in the United States. how else will they get Jews to “flock” to Israel” to leave successful lives made here in order to place themselves in the direct path of the war between ‘Gog and Magog.’
          the War of Armageddon cannot happen unless the Jews are made to leave. Palin’s god tells her this.
            I have been thinking that we do not deserve him for a long time now. The wonderous thing about our present POTUS is that the things that he has, and is, achieving will come to full fruition long after he is no longer our president. The man towers above most of us in his intellectual capacity to think into the future. Just think of what happened with GM yesterday. Who could have foreseen that this turnaround would come so soon when everyone was screaming about bailouts of the automotive industry? How many jobs did that save? Michigan??? crickets….It blows me away everytime news is released and I see that he really is a marvelous chess player.
            And it saddens me to see how tired he looks. How difficult it must be to try to actually govern and try to get things done (that so desperately need getting done) while having to just let slide all of the horrible and hurtful rhetoric from both sides. $P would quit after a week because all of her hair would be falling out.
            My response to this line? “seems to believe” that “America — at least America as it currently exists — is a fundamentally unjust and unequal country.”
            It isn’t????
            That’s news to me.
            WAKE UP Sister Sarah!!! We are fundamentally unjust and unequal in, oh, so many ways. But, of course, she wouldn’t know that because she comes from a lily white community where there are so few people who aren’t “just like” her that she wouldn’t know injustice or inequality if it slapped her in the face. She obviously misses the truth of our society. Injustice comes in many forms. It comes in racial, sexual and socioeconomic forms to start with. Of course, that is hard to see when you exist in a white, middle America bubble that simply mirrors your own image back to you.
      Now, I don’t wanna go all edumacated on y’all, but Western Civilization is founded on texts that honor deception, and, as far as I know, these texts are widely taught in institutions of higher learning throughout the world. Miz Palin, having attended five or so of these institutions, might have encountered these texts; as a churchgoer, she would pretty much definitely have encountered one of them.
      Odysseus loves him some deception, as does Jacob. Loki likes to mix things up, as well, and for the non-Westerners, there’s the Monkey God. Point is, lying for the right reason has historical precedence. Strictures against lying and interrogations re: whether the reasons are right or not complicate the issue, but lying is not ipso facto wrong.
    How very sad. You people in AK have a woman who can’t deal with reality. She is so unbalanced and now I fear her special kind of hate will spread to other unbalanced people and may hurt people. Never before has a jealous woman shown so much hate for a president and his family. Especially the wife and children. I don’t think Obama has ever said an ill thing about the Palin family in any way. I’m sure Palin reads these comments. I want her to know she needs to get help she really is a very sick person who should never see the light of day in the white house. Sick puppy or in her case evil puppy.
    • ks sunflower says:
      You are right. What has mystified me is how she keeps insisting she and Todd have such a loving family. Well, people who love you should watch over you and protect you, even from yourself. Perhaps they are just too battered emotionally to recognize her illness, or even care. She brings home the bacon, so why risk it, right?
      I really wish she felt loved and those closest to her loved her enough to get her the help she needs. Mean girls are usually angry because of low self-esteem for which they overcompensate. Because they hate themselves, they hate everyone else.
      Maybe Sarah knows how vile she really is, and how truly unloved she is. Maybe that’s why she’s so fueled by hate and intent upon spreading it around.
      • Dagian says:
        “Mean girls are usually angry because of low self-esteem for which they overcompensate.”
        Actually–that’s not often the case. Mean girls usually have a very inflated sense of self-worth and entitlement. The problem is that they are not reined in IMMEDIATELY because most of them are also cute or pretty enough that people automatically give them the benefit of the doubt AND they curry favour with adults in the vicinity.
        “Oh, not her! She’s such a sweet girl! She would NEVER instigate a smear campaign on anybody. You just have it wrong. Your daughter is simply jealous that she’s not as popular. Maybe she should take socialization classes…”
        Thus, the victim is further victimized by adults who should INVESTIGATE what’s been happening and protect her, in addition to punishing the aggressors.
        It IS aggression. Often it’s dressed up with “relational aggression”, but the key word is “aggression”.
        • overthemoon says:
          fueled by narcissism.
          • Dagian says:
            You can’t diagnose someone as being narcissistic, or bipolar, or having borderline personality disorder, or any number of other things until they are 18+.
            Now, Sarah is definitely old enough to merit investigation. I will grant you that she is narcisstIC, but to merit the diagnosis would require an M.D. and/or Ph.D. and her participation. So…I won’t do that. Ethically, it would be wrong of me to do so.
            But I will suggest that looking into Axis II disorders wouldn’t be a bad thing to do. She certainly seems to exhibit a LOT of characteristics from a couple of coloumns, doesn’t she? (I lean towards BPD as being in that mix.)
            Basically–everytime someone questions her, she conflates her emotional response with an actual attack upon her ______________ (fill in blank). So the BEST thing that any reporter or journalist or citizen can do is ask direct questions and ask them repeatedly until she answers, falls apart or flys off into a rage. Being a professional victim of circumstances, or “mean people”, that smells like BPD to me.
            I desperately want to believe she’s unelectable. But I see a nation of too many frightened people who want EASY ANSWERS. They don’t want to think about what is behind those little slogans. Or what work needs to be put in to getting a result they want.
            Hence the dichotomy between “evil big government spending” and “don’t you DARE means-test or cut MY social security”! (Personally, I don’t see why the cap for OASDI withholdings can’t be raised on those who earn up to $500,000/yr. I don’t even have a problem with their being no cap.)
            Okay–I think I’m done blathering at the fingers for now.
      • Gimme-a-break, Sarah says:
        About 10 years ago I had to deal with someone very much like Palin as I helped an author friend deal with a major case of plagiarism. The other author had plagiarized at least a hundred books, including 3 or 4 of my friend’s, to write her own books. She was clearly a legend in her own mind and acted as if she were queen. She was very attractive and could be quite sweet and charming, and because of that got away with a lot. But upon closer inspection it became clear that if her mouth was open, a lie was coming out of it. If anyone challenged her, her writing, or her credentials she asserted that they were either 1) jealous of her fame/beauty/knowledge/etc, or 2) just plain mean.
        She had a very high opinion of herself, which masked, I think, a very low opinion of herself. In some ways she acted like a “split personality.” She also was the eternal victim, and exhibited symptoms of narcissistic personality disorder—no matter what happened or who did what, it was ultimately about her personally. According to her there were soooo many mean people who were just out to get her, out of sheer nastiness. When challenged publically, she had an amazing talent for grabbing hold of the conversation and redirecting it so that her challenger was put on the defensive. In private she would attack people behind their backs, spreading lies about them within the community, and gloating when they suffered misfortune.
        One of the main things I learned from that episode in my life was that there’s a certain brand of dishonesty wherein you can figure out what the dishonest person is doing (or thinking to do) by listening to what they are accusing others of doing. Learning this has served me well over the years.
      We should all be grateful we don’t have to be around that voice and those ideas 24/7 – not yet anyway.
      Vice President Biden said last night that (paraphrased) we should not take her threat for granted. Stranger things have happened than Palin being a major contender and becoming President. I think he was right to shake complacent Democrats and Independents and even moderate Republicans (are there any left?). I find it inconceivable on one level that she could have come so far so fast and almost horrific that she might get closer still.
      I deeply wish she would simply go away. Vocal cords, do your job please – shut that woman up.
        The man started his career with a rich wife who could bankroll his campaign, got caught with some folks whose actions disrupted the economy and cried mea culpa. He spent awhile ostensibly as a reformed character, but every time getting or staying elected meant tossing any prior convictions under any passing bus, run over were those convictions. Easier to say sorry than to ask permission? Seems pretty much the McCain way, though saying sorry is not so much evident lately (though he seemed to relish his moments of culpability for awhile before he became the Rethug nominee).
      Good questions. Many of us are tempted to wonder if she can and does read, if she can understand what she does. My personal snarky opinion is that she may read – if it fits onto the screen of her Blackberry.       I remember Candidate Obama being chided for his use of a Blackberry that he carried in a little belt pouch.       I suspect the money people will be the last to be thrown over, but with her warped ego, I don’t think she can help herself if they get in her way. The GOP is going to be in for a surprise just as the Tea Party if either think they can make her bow to their wishes. I certainly hope that over-sized ego will finally smother her career. Being stubborn or headstrong can be an asset, but more often than not, it simply a person’s undoing.
      • Cammie says:
        Her political career is over. However, her reality TV career is just beginning. And it’s just this kind of meanspirited, feuding ugliness that rakes in the money for reality TV stars. Get used to it; Sarah Palin will only become a bigger star in that arena. But better that than politics.
      • Dorian M says:
        There is a difference between being stubborn and being determined: determined people persist knowing that they are doing the right thing, while stubborn people persist despite the knowledge that they are in the wrong.
        As an example: the Allied forces invading Normandy during WW 2 were determined to push back the German forces who stubbornly resisted.
      • rvdee says:
        Harper-Collins is owned by Newscorp, thus she has already thrown Murdoch under the bus, although in the Tweet highlighted by Frum she says “the publishing world” is oppressing her by leaking her book. That’s like having a family meeting from which something gets reported and then claiming “People of earth are leaking info.” It’s your own people that are leaking it.
        And if they’re leaking pages, how is it out of context? How much “context” do you need?
        And if there is some contextual way to make what is reported mean something else, by all means, enlighten us. Contextualize it, madam, or just shut up and let your words mean what they mean. That’s, umm, common sense, right?
        Having never been published (or bothered to have someone write a book for me to publish) my take on this may be wrong. But wouldn’t it be more accurate to say that advance copies of the book were released for review/commentary by the publisher? They don’t release pages, they release advance copies. What Palinbots and Gawker, et al have done is review the book and posted the bits that are relevant to their reviews.
        Or maybe I’m wrong?
        • Bretta says:
          Normally advanced copies are available for just those reasons.
          Just like when scientists have articles published in journals, advanced copies are released to the peer review persons.
          It is standard practice.
        • Gimme-a-break, Sarah says:
          Yes, that’s right, and their use of the Palin book quotes in what was essentially a book review is covered by something called “Fair Use,” although Palingates may have used a teensy bit more material than what Fair use allows.
    • Dagian says:
      That is pretty freakin’ standard for book publishers to do in order to get people excited enough to PURCHASE the book. Preferably the hardcovers. It’s done to PROMOTE the book–you lack-wit ($arah).
      They are NOT going to recover all the money they put into it (especially the subeditors whose job is to transform her word salad into grammatically correct English AND preserve her “tone”) selling it to libraries.
      *snark follows*
      Don’t you need to possess a heart to advertise it?
    • I love it that David Frum is speaking out against her. He’s no fan of liberals, and the only way to get the point across to some of the conservatives is for other conservatives to tell them what the rest of us already know about Sarah and her ilk.
    • pacos_gal says:
      She is quite ignorant of the way the publishing industry works for someone who likes to claim to be an author. They always send out advance copies. Not only to reviewers but to sell it to bookstores too. She should attend a book expo sometimes and many authors do so, handing out copies of their books and signing them for/to industry insiders. It is how publishing works. What a silly wanker she is.
      We care about this stuff America, coz if Palin gets in she will likely initiate an action against Iran. The ANZUS treaty puts us (and the rest of the world) in extremely hot water.
      If America goes into a double dip recession (or maybe even a depression with how the new GOP House will handle legislation by CUTTING SPENDING in the middle of a RECESSION!!!) then the world goes too.
      America’s economy is extremely important to smaller export dependent countries like Australia. Along with our Asian partners of China and Japan America is of upmost importance to our economy. Tiny countries like Australia and New Zealand are vulnerable. Hell, even European countries are extremely vulnerable.
      But hey, this is me being rather optimistic here. If Palin gets into the White House we’d be damn lucky to make it to 2016 alive. I see the worlds survivors existing in a post nuclear-winter wasteland in the bush, hijacking petrol tankers for our new currency; oil!
      I beg my sane Americans to do all they can to think of their responsibility to the world when it comes to voting day. Please for the love of god VOTE and vote SANE. And remember how very lucky you are to have a say in the direction the world goes because the vast majority of us don’t have a say; we vote in our little silly elections between leaders that are powerless against warmongering Presidents of the worlds most powerful country.
      • leenie17 says:
        Most of the intelligent, open-minded and educated people in this country realize that there is no such thing as isolation in today’s world. Every country’s economy and policies have worldwide implications, and the well-being of the rest of the world must be taken into account when making important decisions.
        Our President seems to understand this and also understands that diplomacy and negotiation are the most critical tools in our national security ‘arsenal’. The previous administration and most of the people in the current Republican and Tea Parties are too focused on the U.S. and unwilling or unable to take a wider view. They are quick to condemn and to retaliate, and perceive discussion and compromise as signs of weakness. I, too, fear what could happen if any of these knee-jerk reactionaries end up in the White House. When humanity has the ability to destroy itself several times over, it needs to learn to take a step back, breathe and think before pushing any buttons.
      Thank you. It is what I was thinking but hadn’t yet said. Alaska is a very multiracial State. Almost everyone is from somewhere else. Let’s face it, the USA is very multiracial. Our President is black and so are his wife and children. I became very proud of America on that day.
      So I agree with Michelle. Anyone who would buy that book of SP’s is a fool.
      • CO almost native says:
        Hmm… buy it and use it to start a fire in your fireplace, or shred it for garden mulch, or maybe a door stop, or– I’m sure mudpups can figure out some handy uses for this pile of sh*t.
        But wait until it goes on sale at Costco for $5.99.
        • tinydancer says:
          I’m sorry, but as much as this woman makes my skin crawl, I could never deface a book. It is better that I just ignore it. You see, books are precious to me and I simply could not do it.
          • I couldn’t do it either. I’ve only once in my life thrown away a book. It was written by some woman who seemed to want women to go back to the 19th century of letting men do everything and always bending to the will of their husbands. Disgusting.
            I won’t buy the book – I don’t want to read it, and most of all, I don’t want it to look like she has more followers. The ones she has are bad enough.
        • mag the mick says:
          Why would anyone buy it and put money into her fist? Spend your cash instead on people who deserve it.
    • WakeUpAmerica says:
      “…petty, nasty little person…” Well said. Perfect.
    • Cammie says:
      And the irony is, she mistakes her unpleasant rhetoric for “strength.” I honestly think it cost McCain the election. To be honest, I had some real concerns about Obama; I didn’t think he was all that progressive. I was seriously considering voting third party. That is, until Palin made her disdainful cracks about “community organizers” at the RNC convention. I realized she was just another class-warfaring GOP jerk and she only got worse as the campaign went on. No way I was going to cast a vote that would put such a divisive person a heartbeat away from the Presidency.
    • Dorian M says:
      @twain12,
      re: “…Michelle Obama has more class in her little finger than Sarah has in her whole being.”, I’d add: more than the entire Palin clan put together.
  75. Samantha says:
    In SP’s world, racism, homophobia and class inequality does not exist. Therefore, she gets offended at anyone who suggests otherwise. She’s basically Rush Limbaugh in drag. But it’s no surprise, because in her cloistered, frozen world of Wasilla, she could easily ignore these issues, and since she is a millionaire many times over, and her kids spoiled as well, she doesn’t have to worry about inequality in this country.
  76. CityKid says:
    Sarah Pallin’s comments are really not worth much consideration, beyond a reality check of how partison and “stupid” Palin really is.
    What we have learned over this year is that hope is making a comeback. It is making a comeback. And let me tell you something–for the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country. And not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change. And I have been desperate to see our country moving in that direction, and just not feeling so alone in my frustration and disappointment. I’ve seen people who are hungry to be unified around some basic common issues, and it’s made me proud.
    What’s troubling is that we Barack Obama has turned out to be a fake. Michelle Obama may have said that Barack will feed the people who are hungry for a change. Of course that WAS true. But Barack dropped the ball in his first hundred days and has embraced the ideals of his predecessors to the point where a good friend wrote me to say that he thought Obama was a Republican “stealth” candidate. Pick your issue, “Net Neutrality,” Guantanamo, Iraq, Afghanistan, military spending, the rule of law (with regard to war criminals), tax reform, financial reform – Obama has not put the words he mouthed as a candidate into action.
    I don’t think Palin has a shot, but that’s not because of Obama.
    • Writing from Alaska says:
      I don’t think he is a fake – I think that those who elected him just about expected him to walk on water. We are the ones who got him in office, we are the ones who have to make the change happen. No individual, in any elected office, has enough power to do any number of the things we have hoped would happen. Anyone who was paying attention would not be surprised by many of his decisions. We have to provide the impetus for the changes we want to see, and cannot let up for any reason. We have no one else to blame in the end, if we don’t see things take shape as we had hoped. And frankly, we all spend way too much time fussing over Sarah Palin. The focus on her has taken the wind out of many positive efforts that could have been underway. We have to resist the emotional payoff of having someone to cast as the village idiot and get down to business.
  77. Samantha says:
    Can we talk about what “pews” Sarah Palin was sitting in? Can Barack Obama or Michelle Obama write a desperate book trashing Palin by pointing out the radical, violent, un-american christian church she belonged to and play that video with the african preacher? No, because the Obamas have more class than that. So it’s not as if SP doesn’t live in a glass house, she does, except that rarely does anyone try to throw a truth brick through it in the MSM.
  78. Paula says:
    Hurry up already & get the book out!
  79. fishingmamma says:
    I had a conversation with my dear Grandfather, over 20 years ago now, that had to do with people who had way too much money. He died many years ago, but I would love to hear what he has to say about the Palin clan. I can guess. He was so full of Grace and class. His comment has stayed with me for all this time, and seems relevant. He said,
    “just goes to show …money does not buy manners.”
    • Joad says:
      Your grand-father would have fit right in with mine. The Palin clan is disgraceful. This is fine for entertainers but not acceptable in a would be world leader…
      • Desa Jacobsson says:
        Joad, google Jezebel. Look at the parallel between McQuittyPants and her. Even their children are similiar.
        The Presidential election for 2010 will be like Jezebel running against …….Obama.
    • thatcrowwoman says:
      daddy says lots of folks have more money than sense (cents)
  80. Irishgirl says:
    She also tweeted “waterboard” to the owner of Gawker and then deleted it.
    http://yoono.com/TQVRMUSI
    So she is promoting racism and torture. The woman needs to be locked up.
    • twain12 says:
      Nice Lady …very Presidential
    • Irishgirl says:
      I need to add now that there is some doubt that she tweeted that. It needs to be verified. Sorry about that.
      • justafarmer says:
        that tweet at Gawker was a spoof, if you click on it to enlarge it, it becomes obvious (and kinda funny at who “retweeted” it.)
      • ibwilliamsi says:
        If so, she should keep a better hold on her twitter account. If the woman can’t protect the security of her twitter account, how can she protect the security of the USA?
  81. Irishgirl says:
    Just when you think Palin can’t get any worse, she goes and writes something like that. I hope those comments will ruin her. Her racism is on full display. What an evil woman she is. I can’t bear her.
    • Dagian says:
      You know…most of her fan base are just as bigoted (if not outright racist) as she.
      • Bev says:
        The sad thing is, that those who should buy her book and read the crap she spews…won’t.
        It will just be her fan base and not those who have the sense to see she is bad for the country and has no business running anything.
        When you can not even control your children how can you expect to control an entire country?
        She has poor judgement and spends most of her time belittling others to build herself up and make her feel better.
        She is a party of one!!
      • sam hall says:
        You are right..why are the majority of southern political people so against Obama and the
        people of color? look at Rand Paul who was saying a business owner has a right for no
        other reason ..but a person of color only to refuse service to them. Are these people
        who talk about freedom actually still fighting the civil war and want to go back and win it?
    • kate says:
      This is what’s behind the American Idol competition criticism as well — all those people without talent? (Jennifer Hudson?) whose self-esteem is boosted artificially? Just read between the lines — she doesn’t want people of color to have self-esteem. That’s why she doesn’t see the irony of what she says while Bristol is in the same situation… in her mind, Bristol isn’t black so the criticism doesn’t apply.
    • David Andrews says:
      “she goes and writes…”
      uh, she didn’t write that, you can be sure…someone wrote it for her, no doubt “channeling” the real Sarah Palin…don’t give here credit for actually having an original thought…
    • I See Villages from my House says:
      Irishgirl, this is why I’ve maintained that Sarah is an Ugly Alaskan as much as an Ugly American, she loathes to d’il with Todd’s people and other Alaska Natives. She will ignore them when no one is looking, but when someone who counts with her is, she does. To prove how cool and down with going Native she is. You know, since her husband and children are native and they live with descrimination EVERY day.
      Has Sarah worked on that little problem by the way?
      Progressing the quality of life for Natives with cookies and Jesus?
      Oh, and if she keeps on this new campaign to credit Alaska’s pioneers for everything, she slights the First Peoples everytime.
    • PC says:
      Yes, Mrs. Palin is catastrophically stupid. I’m sorry, but that’s the truth. To not think that maybe walking in the shoes of a black/African American woman in this country would be a different experience than hers. That maybe that perspective would be a tad different than hers. Yikes, SP is scarey people.
    • Desa Jacobsson says:
      Irishgirl, what do you expect? Palin is a member of Ku Klux Klan. It’s called the Tea Party of some other goofy name, but it’s still the Klan.
      On a positive note, please remember that McQuittyPants and her ilk can’t/won’t/haven’t/aren’t/ read….. they can’t add either. Look at the 2008 voter breakdown on the borders. It’s all brown skinned people. Can you imagine that idiot campaigning in Harlem? Or Emmonak?
      She is not running for president because she loves this country. She’s only doing it for the applause and photo ops.
      Alaskans know the difference between Lisa Murkowski and McQuittyPants. One has class. The other is crass.
      McQuittyPants has no moral authority. Look at her children. Look what they learned from her and Todd. One is over weight with NO talent whatsoever. The other is just as smart as her mother. Now look at Michelle Obama’s children. Look at Michelle’s parenting. I rest my case.
      • Thank you…an excellent and honest comment…Michelle lifts up…and the other, insults and demeans–god, Sasha and Malia are lovely and lucky young ladies..We are fortunate and blessed that we get to watch them grow up…
    • Arlis Nessman says:
      Mrs. Palin………..you continue to mention Ronald Reagan over and over and over and over and over again.
      I knew Ronald Reagan, and Mrs. Palin YOU ARE NO RONALD REAGAN.
      You’ll first need to finish learning where you are, then you’ll be qualified to comment on other worldly issues. Unfortunately, you don’t qualify to attend the NATO Meetings or G20’s.
      Have you not noticed Mr. Obama won the Presidency by MILLIONS of votes?
      Do you not know why?
      Maybe you should bone up on your life skills, and learn racism is abhorred in America.
      Remember……YOU ARE NO RONALD REAGAN.
