Clueless Racist Casey Reynolds of KFQD Speaks to Environmentalists

There are some times when you tune in to right wing radio in this town, and the jaw-dropping willful ignorance is so overwhelming, so stupefying, so abhorrent, that no commentary is necessary. There are times when all you have to do is print a little bit of transcript, and let them out themselves for who they are. This could be one of those times. I really don’t have to say anything. I could just print a paragraph for you – a few lines spewed forth from the yammering maw of right wing talk show host Casey Reynolds on KFQD 750am and he’d incriminate himself just fine without me. But, where’s the fun in that?

Last week Mr. Reynolds was talking about environmentalists and how unreasonable they are. He mentioned that they were all up in arms about big bad outside corporations coming into Alaska to work on resource extraction projects like the controversial proposed Pebble Mine, and the Chuitna Coal project. But the Pebble Mine people are just from Canada, he reasoned. “They’re Canucks!” What’s the big deal?

Now, don’t get me wrong. I have nothing against our neighbors to the east. There’s is a lot to love about Canada. I’m grateful they haven’t built a double layered electrified barbed wire fence to keep us from sneaking over there for health care. They have a cool non-violent flag, and a rousing national anthem. They gave us Leonard Cohen, and Peter Jennings, and the guy who invented the snowmachine. But I’m pretty sure that some of them, and some corporations that may be based there, are not all made of goodness and light – even with the adorable “Canuck” moniker.

Then he went on to talk about the Chuitna Coal Project, and the giant strip mine they plan to put across Cook Inlet, 45 miles from Anchorage. Here’s why we’re not supposed to be scared witless by the company that plans to dig up 11 miles of salmon stream, drain the surrounding wetlands down to 350 feet, dump 7 million gallons a day of waste into Cook Inlet where resides a commercial fishing industry and endangered beluga whales, and displace communities whose Native and subsistence roots and culture depends on the pristine watershed. Here’s why they’re good guys. Ready?

Casey Reynolds:

“In the Chuitna case it’s Delaware; a Delaware corporation funded by Texas investors. When was the last time someone from Delaware did anything bad? It’s Delaware. It’s the most trankful (sic) place on earth. It’s the whitest most homogenous place on the planet. It it it…Nothing bad happens there. And now we’re terrified of them? Seriously? The two evil Outside forces that we’re worried about in Alaska are Canada and Delaware? OK you-I’m sorry guys, you lost me on that one. En en environmentalists? You lost me when you started going after evil Canadians and evil Delawarians.”

And by “Delawarians and Canadians,” Mr. Reynolds means “homogenous white people who never do bad things.” Only other-colored people do bad things, apparently. Why, Mr. Reynolds asks, would we be scared of white people?

(I give you a moment to sit with that and let it sink in.)

I’m tempted here to start making a list of scary white people that do bad things, but I’m sure that you, gentle reader, can come up with your own exhaustive list. And maybe we should just excuse them all anyway – after all it’s just “white people crime.” How bad could it be?

Even if PacRim Coal shared Mr. Reynolds’ racist views, that’s not really why they decided to incorporate in Delaware. If they simply wanted to support “the whitest, most homogenous place” in the country, they would have chosen to incorporate in Maine, where over 96% of the population is white. And they certainly wouldn’t have gone from Texas, which is 70.4% white, to Delaware that has a paltry 68.9% white population (less than the national average of 72%). Heck, if it has more non-white people than the national average, that may not even be suitable for Mr. Reynolds to take a safe and non-dangerous white vacation!

Getting back to business, Delaware attracts many who are looking for a place to incorporate. Why? Delaware has long tried to attract businesses by being a corporate haven. It has an extremely business-friendly and extensive body of case law. A simple Google search would have revealed to a certain racist blowhard many sites extolling the virtues of Delaware corporate law. The very first reason listed is not the fine upstanding caucasian populace, but rather this:

“Delaware’s large body of business laws helps a company plan carefully to avoid a lawsuit.”

Delaware also does not require director or officer names to be listed in the formation documents providing “anonymity from snoopers.”

That’s right. Delaware is for corporations that don’t want people to be able to sue them, or know who they are, or have to face a jury trial, among other things. Mr. Reynolds will be shocked to learn that it’s not just for Texans looking for an idyllic state full of good, upstanding white people to support with their business. Go figure.

I can accuse PacRim Coal of many insulting things, but being racist is not one of them. Casey Reynolds on the other hand…

If a radio show host is bringing up rape, then what is the intent to do this? To downplay the media to the charges of rape? Is this due to a federal case coming up that implicates the Palins and current administration? The countless cover ups about three child rape victims? Why not open up the case to the public and lets get everyone’s two cents? why not?

  2. David Otness says:

    Delaware, eh?
Nobody from Delaware has ever done us wrong?
    That’s curious.
Sea River Transportation (Exxon’s shipping subsidiary) is chartered from there.
So, beauty remains in the eye of the beholder.

  3. juneaudream says:

Has anyone..ever explained the pattern of ..’going backward in the family tree’ to lil Casey? The few generations it takes..before one has relatives..therefore..’is of ..Color’..however small the percentage? Imagine the fury..then the fear..if he paid for one of the curr. tests of DNA..and discovered..where great, great nanna ..had been..in ..The Early Years? It might only be 3 generations..or five..but he would be..a mongrel-mix..just like 100% of us are. So then..Casey..when ya find out..what the mixtures you have..INSIDEyou..how ya gonna..’extract it’………….;) Further..when this idea does make it to him..he will feel like someone turned loose a Bodyworm..crawling about…..

This guy is on the radio?
    For real?
Someone pays this guy to say this load of…?
    Jeez.

    Demonizing environmentalists
    Lionizing white people
This doof know most organized environmental groups are predominantly white folks?

Time to Occupy the airwaves and drown this drip out.

    • Mo says:

As c’mon, Pi, you’ve never heard of Rush Limbaugh? This creep is a mere penny ante tribute band in comparison.

      • Alaska Pi says:

You know, it’s funny. I wish I could say it’s merely that I have kept the ability to stay surprised at the sick foolishness which gets poured out over the airwaves but really it has more to do with being isolated. No TV and only NPR.The “tubes” get me out and around a lot more than other media does.
I’ve heard of Limbaugh of course but never actually heard him, same with a whole lot of those folks.
No one sends me the awful emails which make the rounds because I lit the “tubes” on fire when some family members did during the 2008 election and my inbox has stayed clean of that crap since then. 🙂
I guess I know it’s common but I don’t hear or see as much of it as many do.
And I’ve never gotten used to clueless racist crap.
        Never.

  6. AKjah says:

That is so sad. Perhaps someone in Anch could put together a list of advertisers on KFQD. So we all could know where not to spend money when in the big city.

  7. tallimat says:

While attending a upper level undergrad education course, the professor reminded the class that “white people arn’t capable of racist behaviors when they are the minority.”

    •sigh•

Thank the aurora for the invasion of snow buntings lately. Such a beautiful thing, these snow buntings, flying about in a world disgusting cretins.

    • I believe that has to do with the more academic definition of racism, which, if I recall correctly can only be practiced by a dominant group. However, there remains: bigotry, prejudice, suspicion, and general hatred, which, sad to say, can be practiced by any group, large or small, against any other group.

    • Kelly says:

So true…the clown that replaced Dan Fagan on KFQD is such a jackass. Makes me miss Fan Dagan. Almost.

    • GoI3ig says:

Isn’t that the truth. Since Dave Stieren took over Fagan’s old slot, he has taken a hard right turn. He used to play sort of a moderate lackey when he called in on the old show. Now he’s guzzled the Koolaid by the gallon, and comes up with one stupid idea after another.

    http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/193739-giffords-was-troubled-by-palin-crosshairs

He writes that Palin, who was contemplating a presidential bid at the time, never called although he was told by Palin adviser John Coale that “Sarah and her husband, Todd, were ‘devastated’ by the tragedy.”

Palin, at the time, posted a note on her Facebook page: “My sincere condolences are offered to the family of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and the other victims of today’s tragic shooting in Arizona. On behalf of Todd and my family, we all pray for the victims and their families, and for peace and justice,” she wrote.

But Kelly writes: “I thought Sarah Palin might call to say she wished Gabby well and that she was praying for her and the other victims. We heard from many Republicans offering heart-felt messages. Given that a lot of the discussion in the wake of the shooting had singled out Palin, I expected she might also want to clear the air.”

He even imagined what he would say to Palin, writing he planned to “graciously accept her words of consolation” and then add his own thoughts: “‘You are not responsible,’ I planned to tell Sarah Palin, ‘But you are irresponsible.’”

But “she never called,” he notes.

Kelly and Giffords’ book was released Tuesday.

    • bubbles says:

the Giffords are truly lovely people. when i get down and depressed by the thought that the hateful and the stupid rule our world i think of people like Kelly and Gabby and the many sweet and dear folks i have met along the way then i am comforted and i realize that i am not alone in this fight and that though we are outgunned and out manned by these humanoids still we will win through in the end.

    • Kelly says:

what does this Palin reference have to do with racist Casey Reynolds? Am I missing something?

I need the smiley that’s smacking its head against the wall…aargh! This lame brain thinks we don’t know that Delaware is the United Sates’ version of offshore accounts in the Bahamas– only incorporation instead.

Besides- he goofed, and mentioned “funded by Texas investors”. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

  14. Kelly says:

Casey Reynolds is the WORST TALK SHOW HOST polluting the airwaves. Almost all of the other right wingers on the radio are complete nut jobs but most are semi-entertaining. Casey is a collision of ignorance, whining, bad English and…big surprise racism. KFQD is a long time Anchorage radio station. KFQD gave us Herb Shaindlin…and now Casey Reynolds. The ONLY reason this clown has a job is because he was the spokesman for the GOP and now Randy Ruedrich has continual access to KFQDs airwaves to push his propaganda.

“When was the last time someone from Delaware did anything bad? It’s Delaware. It’s the most trankful (sic) place on earth. It’s the whitest most homogenous place on the planet. It it it…Nothing bad happens there. And now we’re terrified of them?”

Hey Casey! That’s a helluva a racist thing to say! Way to reveal your true colors…

This is why the fight to make corporations accountable for their CRIMES is being led by (1) NY Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, and (2) Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden. There are several other AGs (notably, Kentucky’s Conway) who are NOT willing to grant the banks and other financial institutions immunity.

    • leenie17 says:
