Track Palin to Divorce

Huh. That was quick.

And apparently it is news. So sayeth the Washington Post.

After 23-year old Track Palin and his wife Britta, 22, watched a 48-minute movie on the impact of divorce on children, …they filed jointly for divorce. This means they’ve agreed to a settlement, including property, finances, and child support.

The couple, who had been dating since high school, married in April of last year. The wedding of the jean-clad couple, at Hatcher Pass, Alaska, was reported after the fact in a gushy People Magazine articleΒ by Lorenzo Benet. Benet authored the equally gushy Sarah Palin biography Trailblazer, which I am unfortunate enough to have read in its entirety. That which does not kill us, makes us stronger.

A joint statement by the Hansen and Palin families stated: “We’re tickled that after two decades of friendship we proudly witnessed their marriage, knowing their new life together will be blessed.”

After a year and a half of blessing, the fairy tale sadly ends.

The couple has one daughter Kyla, who is 16 months old.

  1. Sometimes love isn’t meant to be!

  2. Susan says:

Thanks, Jeanne, for not repeating the phrase I’ve seen on every other version of this story, that the”events of 9/11 compelled Track to join the military.” Yeah, right, is all we Alaskans have to say about that one. πŸ™‚

    • The Lawman says:

I heard he got caught with METH so instead of going to jail they rigged it to Track going in the military…

  3. skmind says:

Good ole fashioned family values, there.

I guess he can join Bristol, and they can both preach abstinence. Or how gays ruin marriage.

But Alaska Palin should now be associated with another personification: http://www.themindisaterriblething.com/2012/12/marco-rubio-lied-like-sack-of-palin.html

  4. The Kid says:

Pink – Let’s Get the Party Started…lol…they have a few more surprises coming…glad she got smart fast…smile!

Un patriotic,anti-‘merican rwnj have divorced their brains from cognitive reality by forcing Susan Rice to withdraw her name from consideration for Secretary of State. Apparently using sleight of hand, rethugs completely ignored any remembrances from Condi Rice’s disseminating false information in the run up to dumbass dubya’s war of choice against Iraq. Then,Rice was deeply involved in faulty intel about WMDs and yet Dems allowed dubya to have her as Sec of State. Nutters should never be considered fair arbiters of a persons worth to serve at the request of a Dem Potus. Double standards abound and it is past time these tools were made to pay for it. I hope Obama uses his power of recess appointment to stick it to these traitorious bastards.

    • The Lawman says:

They crucify those they cannot forget…

    • slipstream says:

Not only was Condoleeza Rice involved in the lies about weapons of mass destruction leading up to the US invasion of Iraq, she also helped to lead the US into torturing prisoners.

      Why isn’t she on trial?

  6. TSM says:

Britta’s comments indicate she’s glad to be out of the marriage.

I’m betting Granny Grifter had a lot to do with it.

  7. puffin shrapnel palin says:

    But, wait! There’s more!
Bristol Palin’s Failed Reality Show Received $354,348 In Taxpayer Dollars From Alaska

    • John says:

The state has legitimate reasons to use tax credits to encourage film production here. Unfortunately, once you create a program like that, the state can’t discriminate between quality programs and trash, and what sells on tv these days is trash.

      • TSM says:

SP signed the law and then lo and behold, they’re getting grants from the state.

        Corruption at its finest.

  8. ugavic says:

I have to say I am sorry to see any marriage end in divorce but if it was not ‘healthy’ then it is for the better.

Let’s hope that their daughter has access to both parents and knows she is loved and cared for versus being a pawn for publicity.

‘Am also thrilled to see that the comments are on the low end and the entire SP fascination seems to continue to wane.

  9. Blooper says:

I’m definitely not surprised. Having said that, I think the bigger story this week is that BP’s reality show received $354,000 in kickbacks from the state film program. Water is wet, fire is hot and it’s still good to be a Palin, apparently.

Hope to see Jeannie tackle this one. πŸ™‚

    • Blooper says:

Whoops, sorry for the spell fail on your name, Jeanne. I’ll get it right one of these days!

  10. wallflower says:

This will probably read as more critical than I mean for it to. The Palin clan is always entertaining in an “Oh, you’re kidding me,” kind of way, but The Mudflats has evolved so far beyond this kind of post that I’m a little surprised to see it here (instead of on, say, Facebook.) I mean, look at the story you and Shannyn just broke about the Pennsylvania judge. On the other hand, I do understand the concept of a slow news day, and this story is sad but not surprising.

    • Jeanne Devon says:

I captioned this on Facebook as “non-news.” If it had taken more than the 7 minutes it did, I would have passed. Doing a serious story takes a lot more time, and so sometimes it’s just a question of “content vs. no content.” πŸ™‚

  11. Zyxomma says:

The parents of the groom? The mother of the groom, certainly, but I seem to recall that Toad isn’t Track’s dad. I guess People magazine doesn’t care about a little thing like that.

    • Forty Watt says:

I can’t see where it says “parents of the groom” but maybe my blindness is willful. πŸ™‚

In Scots Law, which is modeled after Roman Civil law, there is a legal presumption – Pater is est quem nuptiae demonstrant: the father is he whom the marriage points out.

      Smart fellows these Romans. πŸ˜‰

  12. mike from iowa says:

There, but for the grace of misplaced vowels, the world would have lost a satarist instead of a sitarist. The lamestream media gave Snowdrift Snookie’s son the privacy they asked for, which will now be used as the reason the marriage failed. Hard to bask in non-existent(by choice) limelight.

  13. tigerwine says:

This saddens me. I had thought that perhaps at least one of SP’s kids had some sense and not fallen into the land of the grifters and publicity seekers, and was leading a normal, stable life They did manage to keep a very low profile, and did not haul out their little girl for photo ops at every oportunity. I wish them all well

By the way, anyone heard from Piper? She seems to have disappeared off the map.

    • Kate says:

I’m sorry it didn’t work out, if anyone had a chance in that family, I thought it was Track. But when you grow up in such a dysfunctional family with Sarah for a mother, seeing a poor excuse for a marriage from all I’ve read and heard, your chances of having a good marriage of your own start off at a severe disadvantage. It’s probably why Britta is willing to end things so easily and quickly. She wants out. She probably saw even more than she did prior to getting married when it comes to the craziness of the Palins’. They revealed just how nutty they truly are and it scared the hell out of her. I also find it strange that Sarah never spoke about her granddaughter but if she can’t find a way to make it all about herself, she’s probably not going to say anything. Sarah’s never been known for being generous.

  14. J.A.C. says:

    Mother-in-law problems, perhaps? πŸ˜‰
