Revolution 2.0 – Where to Get the News from Egypt
The US networks are doing (in my opinion) a terrible job covering the ouster of Morsi in Egypt. From spelling Morsi’s name wrong, to interviewing those who previously supported the dictator Mubarak.
This is why I turned off my TV, and tuned in to aljazeera.com. For those that don’t know, there’s an excellent 24-hour live stream on Al Jazeera’s website. I’m sure people have their problems on both the left and the right with me promoting AJ, but compared to the US coverage right now, it’s the gold standard. If you have better or just different news sources, please post them in the comments. I will add them to the post when time allows. Buzzfeed has a simple but pretty conclusive post on what has happened over the last 24 hours – click here for the story.
Unfortunately, they don’t allow embedding of the video so please click through to watch their coverage.
For those of use on the twitters, you can follow them @AJELive.

I’m keeping up with some of the news here: http://www.foreignpolicy.com/
What are the chances that Egypt’s new Prez is a distant relative of one Rebecah(sic) Mansour of Snowdrift Snookie’s regime?
I think all the media needs time to see whats what. It really is happening quickly and speculating cancome back and bite you. Keep an eye on Aljazeera, but i bet Democracy now will be on it soon.

Democracy Now has some twitter feeds to Egypt(mostly a cat fight between some woman and apparently Jeremy Scahill, although he isn’t tweeting,as near as I could tell). There is a 22 minute speech from Morsi that has been deleted most places. Hope this link works for you.
In fairness to the US networks, the Egypt situation is incredibly messy and difficult to explain. Even apparently simple details such as the spelling of an Arabic name are in dispute.
