Palin is Poetry.

Whoever came up with this needs to retire now, because they will never ever surpass the magnum opus that is William Shatner reading Palin’s crazy quit speech… as poetry.  This is not comedy gold.  This is comedy platinum.

We now know what will assure Palin’s sucess in the future.  It’s not a translator.  It’s not a copy editor.  It’s not even an actual speech writer.  It’s a traveling bass/bongo drum duet.

Enjoy…

    If $P is undergoing a degradation of mental-verbal function, I wonder if it is associated with the toxic air source that has been illegally generated in her neighborhood for a few years?

  2. lissa says:

    SP could very well have a learning disability or processing disorder in addition to the other psychological disorders I believe she has. I am her age, and back in the 60-70-80 when we were in school, subtle learning disoorders were not as readily picked up and addresssed as they are now . The fact that it took her what was it – 6 years and 5 colleges to get an undergrad degree in journalism may be a clue to some disorder. My sister has a reading comprehension problem that 12 years of parochial school dismissed. The poor girl flunked out of college before she got some help.

  3. Quetzalcoatl says:

    Comedy GOLD! Damn you Shatner, you’re making it sound good. I don’t miss the finger pointing, the gnarled knuckle pointing, the screeching shrill one calls a voice though. Was she on acid? Attempting to channel Hunter S. Thompson?

    As Gordon Ramsay would say, ‘F—cking Hell.’ I’d call that speech ‘Breaking Bad’, like the tv series.

    You know, when a political farewell speech is held up for lulz, you’re career has ended. She may rise like a zombie from the dead seeking BRAINS!! next.

    No, I didn’t/don’t think Alzheimer’s. Maybe the deterioration has more to do with the increase in the stress/pressure level over the years. Sarah would, in fact have had more familiarity, ie. actual life experience, with the dog race scenario than with the big leagues upper level politics she was trying to be a part of this past year. The high-level-functioning autistic kids (Asperger’s) I know are very coherent when discussing topics with which they are very familiar – not so coherent when you change the script. They tend to resort to an answer from their repertoire when they are not sure what you are asking. They won’t usually say they don’t understand – they know you are asking a question so they give you AN answer. Sarah seemed to do that a lot. She also got indignant often, blaming the interviewer, justifying her position while saying the same thing over and over without really making sense. I’d bet [ my stuffed cat ;-)] that she’s LD with a language impairment of some sort. Of course, we’ll never find out as those types of identification, to my knowledge, are primarily done in the school system. Oh well, now that she is off the major political stage [I hope for good] I can say with great relief ‘Good luck, Sarah! Thanks for the entertainment’

    By the way AK, thank you for including me in the ‘family’. Though I haven’t said anything before today, I’ve been here for months enjoying your humour AND the tone of your entries, not to mention your version of Alaska. Being a coward at heart, I can’t imagine wanting to live anywhere where I could see a moose or bear in my yard, but I do enjoy your ‘nature’ pictures and stories. You should know that your blog has taught me lots about Alaska – a place I never thought about until the advent of Sarah P on the ‘international’ scene. (I am Canadian.) Thank you also for the many times you shed light on the background Palin story in a factual manner. Love your writing style (envious really – in a nice way), and hope you will continue to keep us updated in your own inimitable way.

    Wow, I played it for my wife and she would not believe it was true until I showed her the SP video. My brain glazes over after a few words of video or text so I did not realize how silly it actually was.

  6. faithfulpup says:

    NooooooooPalin. Whew–I’ve been reading all the threads i can lately and am quite burnt out not to recognize pup sarcasm and humor. new to being other than a lurker is me.
    Agree totally about SPCA rep. instead of PETA. Do they realize how silly the media makes them out to be, all that brouhaha over the Pres and his fly. The swatted fly I mean.
    Lots about Ed Show etc. on new thread –

  7. NoooooooPalin says:

    faithfulpup, that was just speculation…a serious response to vyccan’s serious question. Much as I loathe SP, I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.
    Hope I didn’t miss that interview on Ed Show; had to switch channels cause he had some idiot from PETA on and I refuse to give them air time. What’s with the MSM that they give this fringe group status as a serious animal welfare group? What’s wrong with interviewing someone from ASPCA? Sorry, OT. grrr.

  8. faithfulpup says:

    Sorry prob. OT Ed Show Dem chairwoman–SP team evidently edited and altered e-mails (which e-mails new ones we don”t know about? The ones in the “outside” state case?, they have found out SP was running Ak thru her blackberry, probably trying to avoid scrutiny. Gee who knew!! ;} Also very high costs to state of Ak. due to SP law team trying to stop inquiries, tip of only one iceberg. Dem committee will be staying on top of this and will not stop investigating. sorry if this is messed up -I actually missed part of interview due to doorbell. DRAT

  9. faithfulpup says:

    vyccan and NooooooPalin : Please ,say I am not deriding someone who may be seriously ill. Your posts brought so many things to mind and someone earlier referenced autism–I have 2 g.sons who have autism–there is a similarity. Dementia runs in our family, bi-polar also too. OMG are there similarities. I still despise the woman and what she stood for. That said, I hope she is ok and her aberrations with speech n stuff are symptoms of stress due to the iceberg that is lurking out there– still. I hope it is the iceberg- a whole flotilla of them. If it is something due to ilness I hope it is just drugs or diet pills or something she can fix. (btw we are a large family and we’re not all suffering from mental stuffl-just some of us-I think )
    Ed Show has AK. Dem Chairwoman coming on his show in a few minutes with news on Sarah intrigues. Ed Show is on MSNBC right now. Eastern time-don’t know if there is time lag for shows.

    I couldn’t bring myself to listen to all of the clips on this post. Serious ear bleeding from brain explosion. The author uses clips going back 2 decades to show how $P changed from being able to speak a short but coherent sentence to a “ramble-off” of “dark, vague paranoia”.

    “Twenty years ago she could competently descibe a dog race, three years ago she could articulate a position on the abortion issue, and this weekend she composed a resignation speech by throwing culture war stock phrases into a hat and dumping it upside down on a copy of The Paranoid Style in American Politics”.
    _____________________________

    vyccan, does the above observation of the degradation of SP’s communication skills bring to mind any specific neurological problem to you? Just wondering. Early onset Alzheimers maybe? Had a relative with that problem and the paranoia was definitely there.

  12. vyccan says:

    Doesn’t ANYONE think she may have a neurological problem relating to how she uses/processes language? In such a large community as ours here, there is more than likely to be others who have encountered children with language difficulties of different sorts. Don’t her difficulties remind you of anything – apart from her being a psychopath? I am so NOT a fan of hers, but from time to time over the past year I’ve felt some pity for her utterances because they have been so mouth-droppingly inane, …and embarrassing, AND she has seemed so unaware of this. There just has to be something wrong with her processing skills. I hesitate to believe that she can be as dumb as she has presented herself this past year, without there being some explanation.

  13. faithfulpup says:

    Thanks for providing the links re: poetry reading. Had to try a few before I could hear it.
    There are countless sites that have Palinspeak as Poetry. Just google: palin as poetry and they will come up. The first 3 today are Slate, MUDFLATS,and TrueSlant. Each site has jumps to others. Slate has Rumsfeld (sp?) and also too has Ms. qwittypants. If I read info right someone wrote a Sarah speech as poetry book? If so the great Mr. Shatner’s next career move should be reading these poems so those of us who miss her mellifluous -NOT-voice can carry it with us when we travel. For the laughs doncha know, you betcha!

    AKM, thank you for posting the “comedy platinum” version of Palin’s poetry. Palin’s dramatic poetic opening followed by her equally dramatic victim/victimizing abdication proclamation was startling. Shatner makes it forever, oh, so sweet. I may even be able to finally view Palin objectively rather than react emotionally…something, I believe, AKM, you have been doing from day one.

    While we wait for Palin to be specific with her allegations, I hope you will post an expose of the speech as only you can. You’ve got the full transcript (God bless you) ready and waiting.

    Thanks, also, to the mudpups for your passionate and informative comments. It took me over 2 hours to go through them and worth every minute. I reloaded the page before posting my comment and see the video has been pulled. It takes me a long time to comment, too.

    Yes. He admitted the government can provide better health care than private for profits. And he said that regular American Citizens don’t deserve superior healthcare.

    He tried to justify his remarks by saying that us every day folks can just buy our own healthcare. (Doesn’t he get it? Doesn’t he understand that there are poor people that can’t afford it? Doesn’t he understand that there are sick people that the insurance companies will NOT insure? Doesn’t he understand that there are people who can’t just pay for care out of pocket without insurance? Is he just stupid?)

  64. leenie17 says:

    What Palin and the majority of the Republican party have not quite grasped yet is that this country has a whopping case of fear fatigue. We spent 8 years being told that the terrorists were on our doorsteps, if you’re not in lockstep with us then you’re the enemy, secrecy in all levels of governmet is all-important and the entire world was actually trying to destroy the values of the ‘real America’. Last November, the vast majority of the American public clearly told the politicians that we’re tired of the anger and negativity and we’re ready for some gosh-darn, look-to-the-future HOPE.

    We have an amazing history in this country, and our greatest accomplishments were made when we had unremitting hope for our future and followed dreams that seemed unattainable. I can’t recall any life-changing achievements we’re made (including our fight for independence) that have come because we were afraid or divided. Our best inspiration is our determination, our unity and our audacity (thanks, PO!) to believe we can do the undoable.

    The recent anniversary of the moon landing is a perfect example. There were soooo many reasons we should NOT have been able to do it, but the country set a goal and thousands of people worked their little behinds off TOGETHER to make it happen. I believe it’s no accident that the person who won the 2008 Presidential election ran a campaign who’s motto was “Yes, we can!”

    rebekkah commented about “titles” July 28th, 2009 at 6:46 AM

    Just to go one comment further, I hope I can do my small part in correcting anyone who writes or on-air refers to Palin as “governor” as a honorific from now on. “Ex-governor”, just barely gets a pass. But it’s wrong to call her “governor” when she voluntarily didn’t complete her one and only term, and wasn’t ousted.

    The last public office she held to completion was that of mayor of Wasilla. So, I’m going to suggest to anyone who calls her “governor” that they’re wrong, they should be calling her “mayor” if they aren’t going to preface the title with “ex-“.

    Just finished Joe Biden’s Memoirs. His take on 9/11 was interesting. Basically Bush should have listened to Powell (& Biden) instead of Cheney & Rumsfield. The book made me feel that Biden is a real public servant, and we are fortunate to have him as VP.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    I do agree that the VP is an honorable public servant to the core… but could certainly benefit from message discipline and a cure of verbal diarrhea. His loose lips are oftentimes counterproductive; but then again, I saw an excellent comic strip of both the POTUS and VP “munching on shoe leather”… the proverbial “foot in mouth.”
    So, I wonder if she’s at home working on her book?
    “Soring over Wasilla, in the cold, 150 degrees colder than yesterday (scratch, I meant last winter) and soring through a pile of magazines and newspapers I read every day, for the soldiers, to our soldiers, for our brave men, who support second ammendment rights, also, though, for hunters.”
  87. vyccan says:
    @ 31
    I haven’t yet checked the link you cited, but your reference to the mind and psychology taps into a few questions I’ve been asking myself for months now. What if we discover later that Ms Palin has a neurological problem? Suppose she really isn’t ‘wired’ correctly for language, but this was never discovered in her early studies? Would we feel guilty for making fun of her [yeah, I know it’s hard to resist 🙂 ]?
    Her language structure just seems to me to be so consistently bizarre, that there has to be a rational explanation. Her spelling in not overly awful, but her reception of info (ex. in interview situations) and her content output (when not monitored) is too mechanical for there not to be a problem IMHO. In fact, Sarah reminds me (in part) of my son who has Aspergers Sundrome and is on the autism spectrum. {He would consider this comparison an insult because he doesn’t like her, however ….}
    Although my son could read virtually anything, upside down, sideways, whatever, BEFORE he started kindergarten, – he is/was hyperlexic – he didn’t always understand what he read. He is, and has always been, extremely LITERAL and even had to be taught the meaning of idioms, etc. In fact, he learned to speak responsively by reading from strips of paper. My son is now a teenager and an honour roll student, but nuances of meaning still baffle him and English remains a challenge… yet he loves learning languages. The point I’m trying to make is that there has got to be something wrong with Sarah neurologically for her, despite her ambitions and the many negative media feedback over the last year, to not try to improve her comprehension and delivery. She doesn’t ‘get it’ probably because she can’t. Are there any (language?) psychologist within our audience? Does my rambling make sense? Frankly, I think it would be interesting to see a profile of Sarah’s linguistic profile over the years.
    Just finished Joe Biden’s Memoirs. His take on 9/11 was interesting. Basically Bush should have listened to Powell (& Biden) instead of Cheney & Rumsfield. The book made me feel that Biden is a real public servant, and we are fortunate to have him as VP.
  89. Lainey says:
    I wonder if Palin realizes that when she makes these kinds of statements she’s not just energizing the base – she’s insulting a whole bunch of other people who might not otherwise get involved in opposing her.
    well said! and in a way, this is a good thing…can you imagine if we weren’t paying attention and THAT ONE slipped by us???!!!
  90. Lilybart says:
    Another thought: We should all push this Real American thing when discussing her. That should piss off most people no matter what party they belong to.
    Just disgusting now that I think of it again.
    This kind of divisive talk disqualifies her for National Office.
  91. Lilybart says:
    That Real American thing is what did and will do her in. I am a Real American who loves this country too much to let the GOP ruin us in the eyes of the world. America is still the best hope for people under rotten governments and the fact that Bushco made America into torturers just like in the rotten countries, killed hope for many that there is a good government somewhere to aspire to.
    This is like treason for me, considering only rednecks in small towns holding guns and bibles to be real Americans.
  92. nswfm CA says:
    Saw this last night before bed and thought it was very funny, but she still didn’t make sense. Want to point out that creative people in “Hollywood”, plus technology, is not going to be good for her. For the rest of us, yeah, but not her. Couldn’t happen to a more deserving person. She basically said “Bring it on.”
    Ashley Judd does good works. She is not a skinny starlet. My husband covered a bus tour she did with Bono in the midwest. They went to Christian schools for AIDS awareness with the RED campaign. She is an actual Christian who tries to do good for people. Palin’s Christianity is a mean version I don’t think exists in the Bible.
    She also opposes mountain top mining removal and she grew up in Appalachia where this happens. And who doesn’ oppose shooting wolves from the air??!!
  97. rebekkah says:
    That was very clever, and love William Shatner. Now, if SP wants to become a writer, and is trying to show off her skills, why would she practice on her resignation speech. It was inpromptu to break into poetry at that moment.
    Just like the “title” excuse. I don’t understand how having a title can prevent someone from doing their job. Didn’t she want to become Pageant Queen, sportscaster, Mayor, Governor? In order to achieve change and to be taken seriously, she needed these “titles”.
    What has gone so wrong that SP now think that a title will inhibit her work. A lot of real Americans (and North Americans) work very hard without a fanfare title and get a lot done, but not in the sense that Sarah dreams about.
    The workforce out there is “dog eat dog” and supervisors can wreak havoc on an employee’s self-esteem. But, that person CAN’T quit. They need to keep working to survive.
    She wants her cake and eat it too. Wants a leadership job, great pay, benefits, but can’t handle the criticism. Now, she quits a titled job, and says she can do the same work – complete with grabbing the headlines and getting lots of attention. It doesn’t work that way.
    It would seen that SP wants the spotlight, thousands of dollars pay for the speaking circuit, praise from many, travel, hobnobbing with the rich – without a title. Sounds like an “entitlement” obsession.
  98. Chris says:
    Can’t you just see Zeigler trying to confront Shatner? It would probably only take one sentence from Shatner to have Zeigler backing away slowly…
    ok, I need a life
  101. That was priceless. Now if only Sarah would just keep quiet and stay out of the news I’ll be happy.
  102. booboodog says:
    it was very hard to keep up with them all last night, I missed this watching the Colbert Report. We were laughing so hard we almost missed parts of that! Colbert was so moved by her speech. For his response he decided to try her method of speech writing-he took out an Elmer Fudd hat and pulled out fortune cookie fortunes and just read them one after the other. When he was done, the look of admiration on his face (he is supposed to be a conservative for the show) was mixed with trying not to laugh, and it was very good.
  103. bubbles says:
    akm..this is priceless.
  104. ocliberal says:
    Loved the Shatner poetry reading. Unfortunately it made Palin sound too good.
    I actually thought the best part of the Daily Show was Jon Stewart’s interview with Bill Kristol. He was slammed by Stewart not just for his sophomoric Palin delusions, but Stewart nailed him on health-care. It was hilarious and brilliant!
    Also too…
    Steven Colbert showing how Palin writes speeches was priceless
    How Sarah writes her speeches
    But on a serious note, I too loved OzMuds blog yesterday. OzMudflats She echoed my feelings after yesterday. I had actually posted here early on Sunday that I woke up not hating Palin so much. I was just relieved and grateful she was leaving. However following her angry, judgmental, idiotic speech all the old feelings came back and I realized why I detest this woman so much. I am a ‘child’ of the 60’s – meaning I came of age (was in college) when students protested in the schools and on college campuses against the lies of the government. I had a cousin who went to Kent State and actually witnessed classmates gunned down by the National Guard.
    I grew up detesting deceit and lies from our elected officials. I hated Nixon because of his lies, deceit and his arrogance. I hated Cheney and Bush because they knowingly and repeatably lied and lied about the reasons they got us into an unnecessary war. I actually wasn’t too crazy about Clinton and his lies that caused so much problem for him and allowed the Republicans a foothold to disrupt his presidency.
    I know Barack Obama isn’t perfect. But I don’t think he knowingly lies to us. I think he is a decent, honorable man who really does want to make America a better place – not by lying and creating hatred and paranoia, but by bringing us together, making us face our worst problems and providing solutions – not rhetoric – to try and fix them.
    It angers me that someone like Sarah Palin gets ANY credibility from ANYONE! She has taken the art of deception and lying to a new level. She only spouts rhetoric and hate – never solutions. What is her take on health-care reform? But most of all she lies and lies and lies. I don’t believe a single thing out of her mouth. This woman has taken lies and deceit to a new level and made it an art form and she still awarded credibility. I don’t get it!
    As long as there are idiots who say this woman brings ANYTHING to this country, I will detest her and speak out against her. She gets no pass from me at all.
    That was totally wickedly wonderfully awesomely hilariously outrageously cool! I know the boys haven’t seen it yet because no one has come down stairs to the office to tell me about it between the gaffaws. The twins are both Denny Craine and original Star Trek fans. Can’t wait to show them this clip, they find SweetPea as unintelligible as the rest of the thinking world.
    Thanks AK for posting this one for those of us that don’t catch Conan. I caught both the Daily Show and the Cobert Report. Hilarious. Loved the admission Jon got in the interview portion of his show that “Government Run Health Care” would indeed be the best care in the world! Loved the guest try to back peddle on that one. Eventually he just tried to say it was the best care for the military, but not for regular folks like us. Dork.
    Wish I could remember the dork’s name.
I would do it myself but im lousy in front of a camera. I maintain that if she looked like me, then her words, voice and hand movments would be so frigging funny to everyone, because she just speaks nonsense!
    The Palin speechifying youtube movement could become viral, like Colberts green screens.
    Has $P always talked in such an incoherent word salad? Has she become progressively worse? This past weekend, I had the opportunity to visit with a woman who is a paranoid schizophrenic. The similarities between her speech patterns and Palin’s are so similar….frightening to think this woman has any control over ANYTHING.
I haven’t sorted through all the resignation stuff primarily because I don’t really care and I don’t have alot of free time right now. I do however wish Parnell the best. He has a lot of fires to put out. I hope he is diplomatic and wise. I know he has been hiding or been hid (??) behind the EGO called SARAH for so long. I hope we get to see him as become/ be a good governor.
    Lee323, it’s worth pointing out that when Palin first talked about “real Americans” last year, she was in the home district of Kay Hagan, Democrat and now the junior senator from North Carolina. It was pretty well understood that that county was going to go to Obama even if the rest of the state hadn’t. Real America wasn’t even real America.
    Utterly tone-deaf, which is apparently the new black for Republicans. I wonder if Palin realizes that when she makes these kinds of statements she’s not just energizing the base – she’s insulting a whole bunch of other people who might not otherwise get involved in opposing her.
    When you look at all of these in retrospect, it’s a wonder that they, McCain/Palin, did not lose in a landslide.
    I keep on thinking when I watch all of these, what was McCain thinking, and did he hate the US that much that he put Palin on the ticket.
  135. BuffaloGal says:
    I was only able to do a quick read of yesterday’s comments so may have missed this being posted. Really interesting reading in the comments section over on Palingates. A break down of speech patterns and body movements of people who fall within the category of “psychopath”. ( i’m really not a fan of labels, especially when it comes to the mind and psychology but if we look at this broadly, I think it’s helpful, intriguing and , i’ll admit, a bit validating)
  137. BuffaloGal says:
    I can just imagine that when Sarah heard Shatner read her speech she responded with, “Well that’s exactly what I said ! I posted yesterday that I was quite sure that on that 7 hour roadtrip to Fairbanks, strung out on coffee and whatever , she was scribbling away on a pile of napkins and feeling o so very “kerouac Robert Service meets Willie Nelson” I bet she actually becomes inspired by the Shatner reading and decides to start working on a book of poetry!
    Palin is a koan, if by that you mean a walking contradiction that cannot be answered…
    She feeds, vampire-like, off the media while denouncing it at every turn…
    Palin is a koan that contradicts itself because:
    Her statements raise unanswerable questions (her sanity, what exactly she’s saying) that require contemplation like a koan, but there’s no reward of enlightenment by trying to follow it. But reflection on that knowledge might provide enlightenment. Or give one a headache…
  139. UK Lady says:
    Thanks AKM, that was pricelss.
    I couldn’t bring myself to listen to all of the clips on this post. Serious ear bleeding from brain explosion. The author uses clips going back 2 decades to show how $P changed from being able to speak a short but coherent sentence to a “ramble-off” of “dark, vague paranoia”.
    “Twenty years ago she could competently descibe a dog race, three years ago she could articulate a position on the abortion issue, and this weekend she composed a resignation speech by throwing culture war stock phrases into a hat and dumping it upside down on a copy of The Paranoid Style in American Politics”.
    I think Nora O’Donnell (@ 23) is more right than she knows (or maybe she was just hinting at how bad the situation is). There is something seriously unhinged about $P.
  143. John(Canadian MudPuppy) says:
    ROFLMAO.. Who would of thought a Sarah Palin speech could be translated into something understandable, even if it still makes no sense. Shatner nails this one and Conan should take it up as a weekly skit. Theres enough mumbo jumbo from Palin in the last 8 months to last a lifetime.
  144. lemonfair says:
    Never been a politician I liked less that I was willing to listen to more. I just can’t get over her unique sentence structure – which was just made for twitter. She may not communicate any other way in writing again.
    I posted this on another thread but it speaks to what you say:
    There are 2 beautiful write ups over at ozmud.wordpress.com. Sorry, I still don’t know how to get a link here.
    Just a snippet:
    “Sarah Palin’s nastiness is surpassed only by her overly-elevated sense of importance. I’m happy she’s no longer in office. I hope the good people of Alaska, especially the ones who have suffered hunger, sickness and great personal loss at her neglect in rallying to provide for them during times of crisis can one day forgive her incredibly uncaring decisions to refuse federal aid.
    And most importantly, I hope people all across the country will one day soon figure out that government, in a democracy, is made up of ordinary citizens. It’s made up of ‘us’. Some of us are assholes, sure, but most are not. This constant Republican Party battlecry which infers the federal government is a separate, foreign entity that needs to be stopped in it’s tracks – is worse than ignorance personified. It’s Madison Avenue hype deliberately injected into politics so you’ll buy their brand. It’s just wrong.
    The federal gvernment is not your enemy. If you don’t like the way it’s being run – vote to change who’s running it. But for God’s sake, stop letting people like Sarah Palin point a gun at Washington, screaming shoot!”
  152. Lee323, I have to agree with you. She can’t seem to ever say anything without being negative. And in one of those speeches, didn’t she criticize everyone else for being negative? I just realized when I actually heard some of that longer speech that she doesn’t sound like a politician or a governor, but like someone who is scolding an eight year old.
    I was so afraid that Shatner was going to read that long idiotic speech, and I’m so thankful that he didn’t. This one was great, and I’m not a Shatner fan.
    I watched all the coverage on SP on MSNBC, and I think she’s going to really have to disappear if she wants them to stop talking about her. But you know she won’t do it. She’s like the relatives that are like dead fish – the ones that smell after three days. Someone tell Sarah her three days are up and she needs to leave before she really stinks up the place.
  153. Jen says:
    Sarah Palin really does live in opposite world… the speech makes a lot more sense out of context!
  154. Lee323 says:
    Shatner was funny but..
    Underneath her feeble and fatuous attempts to be inspirational, Palin’s basic goals in her speeches are to identify and excoriate the ENEMY.
    During the campaign, the ENEMIES were, of course, Mr. Obama, Mr. Ayers, those American who weren’t “real Americans,” the Troopergate investigators, the “gotcha media” and anyone else who criticized her.
    After the election, the ENEMIES are “The Feds,” the media, the bloggers, the ethics complaint filers, the legislators, and anyone else who criticizes her.
    Her willingness, and even enthusiasm, for pointing her judgmental finger at the ENEMY in her speeches is what paradoxically endears her to her fans and enrages her critics. It’s the wellspring of her divisiveness and polarization. You can recognize the ugly face of judgmentalism, (especially fueled by religion, racism, free-floating fears), by its condescension, uncompromising self-righteousness, and unwillingness to consider any other alternatives or beliefs.
    Palin is essentially an atavistic, pitch-fork wielding, Bible-thumpin’ witch hunter who would be more at home in Salem, Mass. in 1692 with her religiosity and judgmentalism. Her index finger is pointing at her version of 21st Century witches (or “demons,” in the modern fundamentalist’s nomenclature). There’s nothing poetic about it.
    North is not the future…..if it includes the likes of a throwback such as Palin.
    Its clear now that Sarah was never meant to DO much of anything, but to get us thinking way outside the box. And as we say WTF ! and hit our heads on the desk, just maybe then enlightenment will come in a flash.
    Or not she’s probably a whack job.
    That’s what Palin needed all along – a calm demeanor, deeper voice, & more pauses. It sounded so much better the Shatner way!
    THAT is hilarious. Worth every minute of the 25 minutes it took to download on dial-up. I heart William Shatner and Conan. Someone said somewhere on another blog that she had been “shatnerized”. And so she has.
    I can just see people wearing black berets sitting and snapping their fingers in applause.
    BWahahahahaha.
    Thanks AKM- the perfect remedy for “Post Palin Stress Syndrome”.
    I saw this clip over at Gryphens earlier. My only complaint is that Shatner only read the first paragraph. He was really getting into it.
    I was also checking out the SarahPac website and they had a link to the Sarah Palin Facebook page. The comments on Facebook are just too weird. Even more delusional than that ‘ other site ‘.
    IE :
    1.OMG! She is HOT! Sarah for President!
    ( great qualifications… old white Guy – he had his pic posted)
    2.Sandy
    And she didn’t even need her notes, let alone a tele-prompter!
    ( I guess Sandy never noticed that ‘big thing ‘ to the left of her on the stage )
    Amazing what people THINK they see.. or REFUSE to see.
    Tonight, it was hard to keep up with the Palin comedy. While Shatner’s recitation of Palin’s speech was priceline, I mean priceless, I gotta give it to Jason Jones of the Daily Show and his coverage of the Fairbanks picnic. Not sure which was funnier, the photographer threatening to have him arrested and calling him a pr**k or getting cussed out by th KTUU employee after he threw something at their van and screamed at them to leave Sarah alone.
    Shatner for Governor 2010
    OMG I think this will be a classic, i bet it is all over the MSM tomorrow.
  165. Sean says:
    W. O. W…
    I knew there was a hidden meaning in that speech…
    Denny Crane Speaks…
  166. Far From Fenway Fan says:
    I’m speechless! It sounds almost normal when delivered by Shatner.
    Priceless work froom the Priceline Nogotiator!
