I think the Repubs are making a huge mistake. They are going to embrace the tea party. But what are they going to do when they (go rogue?) I don’t believe this is a shoe in for the Dems. We are going to have to work for it. If this does not get you going, I don’t know what will.

What is the thinking here for the Repubs? We have a government that doesn’t want to work together will moderates in the mass. Can you imagine what it is going to be like if the far rights of the queen of the Tundra get in? Massive mistake. They may be happy about the prospects of Republicans in “the house.” However, they will be crying when the Queen comes to sit at her throne. They should take this as, “holy cow” you betcha she is getting ready to run. And then, how are they going to feel when the tea party rolls her on in????

Dems need to get the vote out now. I am getting involved. The choice is clear… Palin and her reckless lack of research may back fire. However, it may work to her advantage. Time to remember what mom use to say about the annoying kid in school. Ignore them…
That is a diet that I am happy to try. We need to focus on those candidates that will get the job done. Come on Mudflatters, let’s get fired up!!! Forwarding your site for motivation…

Seems the former half gov. has painted a target on her own back. A post on the DU states the GOP is lining up to take MsQuitter down – possibly before the Nov. elections. Of course, this IS reported by someone with an anon. friend in the GOP (so take it with a grain of salt)

snip] So I just got this text from a guy I know who is part of the RNC and attends “bat-cave” meetings to strategize political moves and he (and the RNC) are pissed about Steele being a classic FAIL and Sarah Palin being a “careless, classless turncoat” (his words) who needs to finally be stomped on before she can do any more damage to their fall election hopes. [end snip

Hope they are right–the GOP has turned into the party of Limbaugh, Beck and Palin. Take her out of the picture–enough already.

  7. Irishgirl says:

    Palin’s last tweet…

Independents/GOP: focus. The weakened Leftist party is the pt; it allows unified effort 2 reign in Fed govt’s overreach&protect Constitution

It never rains but it pours!

  8. LoveMydogs says:

And my favorite comment from Crooks and Liars today:

“This ain’t democracy, it’s mental illness. It’s a circus, just as the MSM likes it. It’s Modern American marketing 101 — keep people ignorant and you can sell them anything.”

  9. Irishgirl says:

Palin weighs in on Karl Rove’s remarks about O’Donnell being an unsuitable candidate.

  10. LoveMydogs says:

From Crooks and Liars about the “Young Guns” that I asked about on a previous thread.

Watch out, the Republicans are going to try to use Bush to their advantage:

Americans Untited for Change has just produced a new ad that’s very good.

Eric Cantor, Paul Ryan and Kevin McCarthy are gunning for Social Security and Medicare. Middle aged men with ideas that were young…when they were young.

Another typical right wing con job.

It sure is funny how none of these visionaries managed to utter a peep about Bush’s “betrayal” when he was, you know, in office and running the country into the ground, isn’t it?

  11. LoveMydogs says:

Margaret and Helen are at it again:

“Margaret, that Sarah Palin sure seems to be enjoying her moment in the spotlight. And it appears she got another one of her Tea Party candidates one step closer to November 2nd. Now, I for one don’t begrudge her all this newly found fame and fortune. I still think she is an idiot, but I don’t begrudge her all this success. I just wish she came by it in a way that didn’t involve the fate of our nation…. like maybe being on The Real Housewives of Wasilla.

I hear she is about to have her own television show on the Learning Channel. Do you think she will learn anything? And when exactly did the Learning Channel become the Learning Deficiency Channel?”

  12. OMG says:

While I really didn’t like this Newsweek article, Fineman does make some good points. The WH needs to continue to blast with both barrels against the party of fear and no, and dems and independents need to get out and vote and not take anything for granted. We must not be confident in the poll numbers (like in Delaware) or we will be looking at a Senator O’Donnell and eventually a President Palin.

  18. LibertyLover says:

I used to live in Washington state many years ago and there was a candidate that won the Republican party nomination who was very, very conservative… much like the tea partiers of today. But she was trounced in the general election by her Democratic counterpart. I mean it was a rout. People made it a point to vote against such a inflexible candidate.

Delaware is pretty liberal leaning. I see the same scenario happening in Delaware as WA state many years ago. If this doesn’t motivate people to get to the polls, then nothing will.

    • LibertyLover says:

I remember her name now: Ellen Craswell. She ran against Gary Locke for for Governor. She was a religious right winger.

  19. OMG says:

The O’Donnell win is frightening for many reasons. Sure, the pundits are now saying that the dem is a shoe in–just like they said that Murkowski would win the primary by a wide margin. But, as this column points out, the danger is in the strength of the tea party and what it has done to intimidate moderates:

    • TX SMR says:

I like to think the worm has turned. The GOP unleashed the hounds of hell thinking they could control them, only to find out too late that they can’t.

I was pondering this issue this morning — wondering if sane Republicans (honestly, there are a few of them out there) would band together to do something to fight this. I heard that FreedomWorks (the horror) will not endorse O’Donnell. So, what’s the party to do now? They know that their cushy back-door deals won’t happen with tea-partiers in seats. Will they start turning their backs on fox until the network walks back a lot of its talk? Will fox start reining in the rhetoric from rush & glenn? Are they counting on the tea-party to implode the party so that it can be re-built?

We can all do all that we can to encourage people to vote. Door to door is where it’s at. Sending money is good, volunteering is as good or better — votes, everyone, we need more voters at the polls!

    Anti-Masturbation Candidate Is ‘Truly Strange’
Christine O’Donnell has issues with money, truth … and shrubbery

    http://www.newser.com/story/100321/anti-masturbation-candidate-is-truly-strange.html

  21. TanteF says:

Mike Castle, who she defeated, did not go the negative route until the very last. Chris Coons, her Democratic opponant already has a heap of negative information about the anti masturbation candidate and will not hesitate to use it…I hope! Christine has more skeletons than Sarah has bent canned goods.

    • benlomond2 says:

…The negatives won’t change any minds….the Faithful will vote for her ANYWAY- because SHE’S JUST LIKE THEM !!! It plays right in to their persecution complex; they get to be like the Christians of old..thrown to the lions inthe arena.. The ONLY way to defeat people like this, is to get the normal people OUT TO VOTE !!

  22. TanteF says:

As the only mudpup that I am aware of from Delaware I just want to say I’m sorry. Oh, and AAAGGGAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH

    • twain12 says:

i’m wondering is anybody going to check into her campaign financing ?
somebody over IM posted this last night:
      http://bearingdrift.com/2010/09/13/nominating-christine-o%E2%80%99donnell-de-could-destroy-the-tea-party

if this is even half true i’m dumbfounded how anybody could vote for her ?

    • OMG says:

I hope that voters see the danger in having this loon represent them and get out to vote in the general. My fear is that so much is being made of the dem being a shoe-in that people may get complacent. Never has it been so important to vote against the crazies.

    • Alaska Pi says:

      Lighten up on yourself!!!!!
The internal battles of the GOP with the Tea Party folks hasn’t spread to the general populace yet there!
get your Dem base out and mobilized!

from a commenter I follow on another blog who watches very races very carefully:

” …there wasn’t a big Democratic race in Delaware this time around. There were some state reps and state senators.
Those races were ‘t near as sexy as the republican senate race. There was a real donnybrook going on in the GOP.
Also remember with all the hype on O’Donnell that you are going to hear today, she only managed to garner 30,000 votes. In a state where the democrat have 290,000 vs 190,000 Gop voters we have a VERY good chance come November. The real question is will the established repubs come out and support O’Donnell? “

      • OMG says:

I hope that the dems have a huge get-out-the-vote campaign. Just assuming that their candidate will win may just cost them the election.

      • A Fan in CA says:

I looked it up and 39% of R’s voted while only 12% of D’s came out. Sure hope folks get out for the General.

      • Laurainnocal says:

Hello …………….. this is Biden country! Barack and Joe took this state with 62%. Sit the F down, O’Donnell.

  23. twain12 says:

    thanks

  24. GoI3ig says:

It’s been an entertaining week for sure. Now with a few more tea baggers winning primaries, the wing nuts will be energized. What next?

    • LibertyLover says:

Part of me thinks that O’Donnell is Karmic payback for Alvin Greene in South Carolina.

    • nswfm says:

      http://williambanzai7.blogspot.com/2010/09/its-september-15-2010-do-you-know-where.html

“The Tea Party is more than the Fox News Freak Show that it is. It is a macabre display of public disaffection and anger. It includes extremist elements, but it also incorporates a commonality that runs across party lines: the sense that power has been abused, that the tide of corruption is overwhelming the Republic and that those now in charge are beholden to the few. It is fruitless to try to predict the precise outcome. But it will be change that neither Mr Obama, the feckless Democrats nor the Republican hypocristablishment will be calling. And like the next financial disaster, the question is not when, but actually how soon?

      5. Finally, might I point out that after two whole years, the only evil one in jail is Bernie Madoff. Here’s a prediction. Insofar as the Great Subprime Disaster, absolutely no one will wind up in jail. But the game is the same: Subprime P.O.N.Z.I., the game for the whole family brought to you by Lehman Brothers.

I could go on, but I won’t. Let me close with this:

“All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent.”

      Thomas Jefferson “

      • Madeline says:

The only problem here is the REAL TeaParty is the money behind it, they are just using the wingnuts as a shield for a power grab. The Koch brothers and Rupert Murdoch set this up for their own purposes.

      • Moose Pucky says:

Yeah, and they support such charming values. Locally, they stuck a sign in a six-year old’s hand that said, “Don’t like the way things are? There’s a solution.” Accompanied by a drawing of a NOOSE!

This isn’t disaffection with the problems of government with alternative high-minded solutions being offered. It’s fear, hate, and bigotry–plain and simple.
