We have it on good authority from Brian…
…that AKM may be on her way home to us as we speak!
Here’s your opportunity to welcome her back so she has a thread full of messages from well-wishers as soon as she looks at the blog! I know I can speak for Shannyn when I say both of us missed her terribly!
WELCOME HOME, JEANNE!
Welcome home, AKM! And thanks to Linda, Shannyn and all those who kept the site going in your absence!
Welcome home, AKM.
Welcome home Jeannie. Do take as much time as you need to rest. We’ll wait.
AKM welcome home, want you to know that your lovely tribute to your mom was so moving that it literally moved me so much that I could hardly stand it! (in a good way) May you continue to feel love, peace and beautiful memories.
Thanks Shannyn and Linda- for keeping the light on!!
Welcome back! While the bench did magnificent while you were out, we’re ready for you to get back in the game. [End cheesy sports here.]
Welcome Home
We left the lights on for you.
Welcome home.
Welcome home, AKM. This has been a difficult week, not to mention the challenges of travel in the weather we’ve had.
And thanks to Linda and Shannyn for their excellent posts this week as well.

Welcome Home AKM —
“Everything you live through helps to make you the person you are now.”
Ditto. What they said. Take care of yourself.
I am very sorry for your loss, and wish you comfort as you return from your journey. Not being gifted with words for such a time, I offer this photo instead.

That must be a summer photo of Brian. He’s looking might handsome.
Welcome home, AKM- the sun is returning.
Welcome back. Saying goodby to your Mom is not easy–at any age. You had many thoughts and prayers coming your way–god bless
Sending heart hugs your way AKM . . .
Be encouraged to continue ~ forever carrying Mom in your heart.
Warmest regards.
AKM, have been thinking of you and your family this past week as you say farewell to your dear Mom. She was so beautiful in so many ways. Glad you’re back and I hope that the knowledge we all missed your terribly and welcome you back with open { } gives you a tiny bit of comfort. We’re getting ready for the boys and girls to come to town and start playing again! Let’s keep them on our radar screens!
I’m so sorry for your loss. May your lovely mother come visit you in your dreams — mine does, and I love waking up feeling like we’ve had a visit together.
A big group hug for AKM – welcome home.
(((((AKM and family plus animals)))))
Finally. I was going to suggest watching out for this, but even without using my real name, it hurts my feelings to be called nuts. Go figure. Both AKM and Oz Mud have been in my thoughts. Welcome back.
Welcome home, AKM. The tribute to your mother was lovely. She was a beautiful woman and she raised a gem of a daughter! I hope you have many happy memories.
Sincerest condolences on the loss of your mother. There isn’t much that is more difficult than losing a parent especially your mother. Welcome home! We’re glad you’re coming back. Your helpers did a fine job while you’re gone. Alaska progressive bloggers are awesome.
Welcome back, AKM.
You have been in my thoughts as you mourn the death of your mother, and celebrate her life and her love.
Soon Spring will be here, and the ants will follow, and many of us will remember your beautiful memorial to her, and think about her and the ants.
Not much to add to all of the above sentiments, except to second each and every one of them. I hope your trip back is easy and your home is warm and welcoming.
Wherever you are — wishing you peace, love & healing.
I’m really sorry for your loss. I’ve lost both of my parents and while I don’t know how you feel I have an idea. I have missed your take on the ‘events of the day’ and want to say WELCOME HOME. We missed you!
A hundred thousand welcomes AKM.
Many thanks Linda and Shannyn.
You are all awesome and much loved.
Welcome home AKM!! As others have so eloquently said before me, you have been sorely missed. And yet, take all the time you need to heal. We promise we will be good little Pups, as we have had wonderful and efficient Pup sitters who have entertained us and kept us in line!! Thanks Linda and Shannyn!!
Welcome back AKM !! Take your time and ease on back into your normal life… it will take while, don’t rush it… But I can’t promise to be a good little pup, Slip and I like the room with the shag carpet and lava lamps ! 🙂
Linda and Shannyn did a great job while you were away, so take it easy, play with Buff and celebrate your memories … ben
A big thumbs up to Celtic Diva and Shannyn for filling the breach and keeping everyone informed while AKM was away after the loss of her mother. A big welcome back and my condolences for your loss and hope that you and your loved ones find solace in the world around you.
welcome back, home. My condolences to you and your loved ones for the loss of your mother. They go, we keep loving them. Keep warm, it’s -40 here in the interior.
Welcome home AKM!!!
1st time it when into moderation??? Wierd!
Hello Ann!
I miss your writing, and wonder how you and your beautiful children are doing.
As AKM has done, so did you – I am still filled with heartfelt wonder upon reading your memorials to your lost loved ones. You are both incredible women.
Miss Demeanor;
Awww thanks! We are doing well. Still doing some writing but mainly poetry over on the forum. I just opened an online store to sell my bead work and other handmade items.
The girls are doing well. Big girl is sick this evening and put herself to bed at 5 p.m. and now they are both down for the night.
Quyana Cakneq for your words!
You have been in my thoughts as have your girls especially when another Blog friend from Alaska had a husband this past year the died suddenly also I think she said of a heart attack.Reminded me of what you went thru to get your husband home. She had some of the same problems.
Welcome home AKM!!
Welcome back AKM! We Mudpups & Brian & ESPECIALLY Buf have missed you. But I agree with many of the others that you should take all the time YOU need to recuperate and rejuvenate before you jump back into blogging. We will all understand.
Thanks to Linda and Shannyn and Snoskred for a great job of holding down the fort! AKM left us in very capable hands and we appreciate all your work.
There are no words that will convey sufficient condolences.
Take time, and grieve in peace.
I come to the mudflats as if it were the coffee shop on the corner, in a city spanning several continents, where conversations go on constantly, neither whispered nor shouted. There is always a daily special. Or was, it has been absent for a time, and may be still for more time.
” A Drinking Song” – Yeats
Wine comes in at the mouth
And love comes in at the eye;
That’s all we shall know for truth
Before we grow old and die.
I lift the glass to my mouth,
I look at you, and sigh.
Beautiful! That brought a tear.
Stunningly beautiful! AKM will likely be cutting and pasting that directly into her soul.
KN, beautifully put–always love to hear what you have to say. (Also, love coffee which may actually run in my DNA….)
What a week it has been……..welcome back, you have been missed.
And thanks to the Dynamic Duo for holding down the fort.
You left your blog in capable, talented hands, and we have appreciated every post Linda and Shannyn has made. They handled a difficult news cycle with a deft touch and insightful commentary. We thank them, and we thank you for seeking their assistance in covering your absence.
That said, you have been well and truly missed. We hope this blog will serve as an anchor and a blessing for you as you begin the long journey of healing from your loss. You know that you have our respect, our affection and support. You’ve created a virtual community that is so special that people from diverse backgrounds and locations around the globe come to it knowing they will be welcomed and excited because they know they will learn from one another. There is energy here. There is a sense of family here. There is a sense of safety to explore new ideas and sample divergent opinions in a civil context.
You are our virtual teacher, friend, sister, daughter, neighbor, cousin or aunt. You are someone we all admire and respect. How good is that? How much better can it get? You are someone we have missed. Welcome back.
Get some rest because it sounds as if it is going to be a wild ride with the GOP next week – voting to repeal the health care bill, the State of the Union address, and their candidates raring to go for 2012. If you want distraction, you will surely get it.
Take care, AKM. May you and your family continue to heal. If you need to step back for a while from time to time, don’t hesitate to do so for we understand. Many of us have been there ourselves. We can wait for as long as you need. You have so many good friends who will help. You have a loyal and compassionate following who do what we can to make you proud.
Wow, ks sunflower, you really said it all. I was thinking these things but could not figure out hoe to say them. You did it beautifully.
AKM, welcome back. I know how hard it is to lose a parent. No matter their age.
Welcome home AKM, rest up.
Thanks ks sunflower, beautiful.
Tears… What ks sunflower said…
Welcome home.
Also, great job to Linda and Shannyn for keeping the blog “breathing”. 🙂
Right you are I keep forgetting to thank the two girls for keeping things going while AKM was gone
Missed you here! Wishing you a happy homecoming. I bet “Buf” will be so happy to see you. My thoughts were with you this past week. Peace.
I am sure many people have said this, but there is no place like home! I have held you close, along with your family.
Thanks to Linda and Shannyn!
Welcome home, AKM! Our little world-wide family is complete again.
Welcome home. The Mudflats just aren’t the same without you. Linda takes beautiful pictures like you do,and both she and Shannyn are great writers, but this is your place and we all missed you. I liked what you wrote on Facebook about the recording of your mother playing the piano. What a gift!
Welcome home!
I know you’ll be glad to be back with your immediate family (and extended Alaskan family) — and that you are still in the thoughts of your Back-East family and your Internet family.
Many thanks to Linda and Shannyn for holding down the fort. Come back soon and often.
Welcome back to Alaska AKM.
Welcome back AKM!
Welcome back, AKM.
Linda and Shannyn, thanks for the awesome job you did keeping the site going.
Once again I stand (well, sit, actually) in awe of the three of you.
WELCOME HOME, AKM!
You have been missed. May you rest well and continue to be gentle with yourself. Ours thoughts have been with you.
Thanks for being excellent subs, Linda and Shannon!
Welcome home, dear AKM. Peaceful slumber for you and yours tonight. Hugs.
Hugs also to Linda and Shannyn, they’re the best, AKM.
Welcome home AKM!
Welcome back, AKM.
Welcome home! Peace to you and yours!
AKM – I hope you will take your time to chill out and ease back into your life in AK and here on the blog. My Mom died eight years ago and I have a giant family and most of the family live within 30 minutes of the events. And everyone was physically and mentally exhausted for a while.
You missed a really ugly chapter in our country’s history this past week and, sad as I’m sure it was, you must have participated in a great celebration of life where you were. That had to be a comfort. Dad died a few years before Mom and almost every day I wish I could talk to him, get his take on things, his wisdom and guidance (my parents were active, open minded progressives before it was fashionable (!)) but there’s nothing like the relationship between daughter and Mother. I was named after my Mom even though I was the third daughter. Long story. And honestly, there are still days when I catch myself after thinking about calling her up for advice, a hug or just to laugh together.
The blog has been in good hands in your absence. And, in the spirit invoked by our wonderful President on Wednesday, we remain respectful of our differences. Take your time, but come back when you’re ready. I think the Good Ship Palin is listing in a serious way and you need to be here to document it.
Peace and sleep well.
Welcome back, AKM…your mudpuppies missed you! Shannyn and Linda did a super job of puppysitting while you were away, but we’re all so VERY glad you’re back.
Lots of hugs are being sent your way to help you heal, and Brian has a big moosie kiss for you too!

Welcome home.
for you, and for this wonderful community you’ve brought together, now more than ever.

AKM, the tribute to your Mom was so so exceptional. I went back and read it again, many times and shared it with people who are in no way interested in politics or the internet beyond facebook. You really paid a great tribute.
For a funny, I loved Wonkette’s headline today:
Remembering Our Fallen Week: The Tragedy In Wasilla
(just to lighten it all up)

You have been constantly in our thoughts, AKM, and it is good to have you back safely with us. Nevertheless, as Barbara said, ‘Take all the time you need.’
AKM, i hope you had a healing time with your family. though i do miss you, please take all the time you need before taking up the blog again. it will be a welcome day when you do!

Hugs and safe return home to you as well, BearWoman!
Welcome home, AKM. Know that many hearts traveled with you on this sad trip and we were hopeful that the love of family, the wealth of good memories and the peace of passage traveled with you.
AKM, welcome back to the mudflats. Linda and Shannyn have done a stellar job in your absence (see Linda’s gorgeous photo on “Frozen Beauty”), but we’re all glad to have you back. I hope all the travel wasn’t too hard on you.

Welcome back AKM.
Welcome home AKM. The week that almost was, has been quite a week.
We have all had a lot on our minds.

Welcome home AKM. You have been in our thoughts this week.
Welcome back, AKM. As good as Celtic Diva and Shannyn have been, you have been missed. And, again, my sympathies to you and your family on your mother. You wrote a briliant memorial for woman who led a remarkable life.
