    AKM?,

Pretty sure I’ve said it incorrectly several times.

I went down to the mudflats today. I was/am curious if upper Cook Inlet had impact from the Tsunamai. It is probable that there was an unusually high water thru out Cook Inlet in the wee hours of our Friday morning. Also, related to your open thread the other day, is lots of big ice out of the upper inlet. March 11. Pretty early for breakup, but look at the forecast.

Seven more days of this kind of weather, No Problem. nem

It appears that folks on the left are FINALLY learning how to play with the big boys and hit them where it hurts. Not only are the recall efforts in Wisconsin gearing up to warp speed, but there is a new campaign that smacks Scott Walker right in the wallet.

“Workers have begun organizing a “Move Your Money Campaign” against M&I Bank, whose employees are among his chief financial backers”

Two members of the firefighters union withdrew a total of $192,000 dollars out of the bank as an example of just how serious the protesters are about fighting Walker.

“A senior union researcher estimates that unions have at least $1 billion invested in M&I Bank, mostly through pension funds. Discussions are going on at the highest levels of the labor movement about how exactly to leverage this financial clout in the political debate in Wisconsin. ”

That would be good, because the only way we can attempt to touch the “400” is thru the pocketbook. This will be a drop in the bucket.

    • Pinwheel says:

I suspect that to really get to the “Government” one must broaden the withdrawal/boycot.

When one is asleep at the wheel one must pay the consequences. Now that is my own belief. Close your eyes, take deeep breaths, more breaths, go shopping, let your government act for you.

I shopped for better scotch whisky, more Havana Club rum, fair winds, ghangha. Why not. Shrub had it all in control and everyone was giving him everything he asked for. McCain-Feingold has become an embarassement for both guys. No empowerment, nobody really cares.

I had my own moment of Zen Wednesday, while walking to a business meeting. In the garden across the street from me, some of the yellow crocuses had bloomed (the purple ones are slower this year, apparently), and along Houston Street (the major east-west traffic artery in my neighborhood, pronounced How-stun — it’s Dutch, not named for that Sam fellow in Texas), there was another burst of gorgeous yellow on a forsythia that gets loads of sun.

We’re drying out after a major rainstorm (lots of flooding along rivers in NJ), but no major damage I’m aware of in NYC (I’m about to watch the news, so I’ll know more later). Love, health, and peace to all.

The only bright yellow we see on the streets here is a snowplow.

      • Zyxomma says:

Well, slipstream, at least you’ve got that bright yellow jacket. (I know, I’ve seen it on TV.) Here’s a little yellow to brighten your day. 😉 😉 😉 😉 😉

Maybe if we do a better job not raising bullies, we’ll have fewer people trying to cut people’s wages.

Boy, do we have one hard frost this morning! It is beautiful. Everything is covered, the sun is up, and there are diamonds everywhere. The frost will be gone in less than an hour, because we are rising towards 60* today.

School Board elections are soon here. Lots of talk around town about a couple of candidates who are closeted tea-baggers. No real desire to help our community, our children, or anything other than one thing. Getting God back into our schools. Getting Government out. Eyerolls are rampant.

  7. I’ve gotta question. Yesterday as I was making my way towards the ‘flats, the page for said ‘flats had a minor change at the top. Instead of the usual Tiptoeing through etc, was a Happyplace http://www.mudflats.net. I clicked on it by mistake and as soon as I saw it wasn’t your usual site,I cancelled. It isn’t there anymore. Are we in mortal danger from a lurker?
