Open Thread – Baby Anteater
Happy Cinco de Mayo! Here’s something completely un-Mexican, but it will start your day with a smile. It’s way better than the creepy-toed American Coot from last night. (Thanks to AKaurora and all who identified it!) Check out the painfully adorable baby anteater in this video. Dare you not to smile!
On a lighter note, we’re supposed to learn something new every day. Today I learned that the Zyxomma (a genus of dragonfly) belongs to a tribe called — wait for it — Zyxommatini. I do believe that calls for the invention of an eponymous beverage.
damned shame.

When I saw this — yesterday, I think — I felt sick. That “teacher” should never be allowed near another child. And he’s probably got friends in church taking his side.
Awwww……. I want one…well, maybe not. But so cute. How is it almost all babies are so adorable, even to other species? – to us anyway!
darling little critters.
I keep clicking to watch the next one! So many cute critter babies. Our kits and their mama have gone back to the woods in the bottoms. Hope they stay on this side of the levee, or come back here. The Mississippi is being a large scale pain these days.
I smiled.
Speaking of sunshine…. We actually have some today.
We did too! At least I THINK that’s what that yellow thing was up in the sky!
I’ve always like anteaters and this one is so sweet I almost have contact diabetes!
Thanks for posting the link. What a lovely start to the day.
Good morning, Sunshine!
Too cute!!! What a lovely way to start the day – thanks for adding a bright spot to all the bad news floating out there this morning.
That is almost as cute as the polar bear cub up at the Alaska Zoo.
