Woo hoo! My Senate district special election made it onto Last Word tonight!

My (unfortunately) very red district is polling with a slight lead for the Democrat candidate! We’re having a special election to replace Chris ‘Nekkid Posing in the Mirror’ Lee who resigned before the revelation about his connections with transvestite hookers hit the media. The Republicans seemed to be assuming that their candidate would just sail on into the Senate with no muss or fuss. However, her big mistake has been in defending the Ryan budget plan when even other members of the Republican party are abandoning that particular sinking ship.

There’s also a Tea Party candidate (and former Dem…go figure that one out!) who is likely taking a nice chunk of the right’s support away from her.

Ohhhhh, would I LOOOOVE to see my district go blue!!!

Bubbles–Did you see Jon Stewart last night talking about Common. It was really good–pointed out how the lines about cop killing etc. were taken out of context–a typical Repub tactic. We have a segment of our society that is just plain rotten. Working on my letter about Palin–thanks to those who gave me an idea. Has Palin said anything today about the oil CEOs’ in DC getting grilled?

I’ve been reading Dunn’s book about SP, and I have a question that close observers in Alaska might be able to answer. I’m hoping Sarah explained somewhere at some time why she carries two Blackberries.

I’ve often noted she carries around at least one, and sometimes two devices. I just didn’t know both where Blackberries. Surely someone asked her why because it isn’t as if it is common for sane people to do this.

Just wondering why on earth would anyone need to carry two Blackberries and use both???

I also wonder if she charged the cost and monthly fees of at least one to the state. Just asking.

      • Irishgirl says:

I finished the book this morning. Stayed up til 3am and had to get up at 7.30 to read the last chapter. I thought it started slowly but then it built up. Palin knew for a long time that she was in the running for the VP slot!!

I loved the chapters about the vetting and the actual campaign. Dunn also addresses how she introduced racialism into the campaign and how she really did go rogue. The chapter on her reaction to Emmonak was heartbreaking.

There was one common thread running through all of it – it was all about Sarah. And she is a bald faced liar. Dunn did an excellent job of taking the facts that most of us know, providing some more information and telling a helluva story.

        • leenie17 says:

The term ‘narcissistic’ doesn’t even come close to describing Palin. I always thought her comment to Katie Couric about not being the center of the universe was a reflection of her own perceptions about herself. Most people wouldn’t even think to say something like that but I suspect it was actually about Palin feeling as if HER position as center of the universe was being threatened.

After all, SHE deserves to be the Empress of All That Exists and NO ONE is going to steal that crown away from her this time!!!!

    • Forty Watt says:

“Just wondering why on earth would anyone need to carry two Blackberries and use both???”

I asked Mr. Forty Watt the same question. His answer– Ego thing. If she thinks she looks important with one, think how much more important she must be with two.

Me, I think it’s like a friend of mine who buys stuff as symbols so she doesn’t haven’t to do the work. For example, she owns 100 cookie cutters but has never made cookies. A mom making cookies is a symbol of a “good” mom: ergo a mom with 100 cookie cutters must be a really good mom.

If one blackberry makes you like your always busy working; two makes you look really, really busy. All the while, you’re doing feck all.

But shit like this is what prevents me from even getting to the point where I’d give their policies a fair hearing. “On Wednesday night, a diverse crowd of more than 500 New Yorkers gathered at Martin Luther King High School behind Lincoln Center in preparation for a “Guerrilla Drive-In,” a satirical urban take on the drive-in movie. The rowdy event was designed to shine a spotlight on the now infamous Koch Brothers and their efforts to cover up their far right wing, anti-environment, anti-union agenda by donating large sums of money to New York City cultural institutions.
The audience witnessed the world premiere of Brave New Foundation’s short film, and the event culminated in adding a sign reading “I am the Tea Party’s wallet” to the name plate of the Lincoln Center’s David H. Koch Theater.”……………

Need a little favor here. I’m trying to write a fact filled letter to my local paper responding to a letter from some guy who was talking about what a good Christian women quitty pants is–and how the nasty libs don’t like her because she promotes family values etc. I want to mention how she pushed the idea of “Obama death panels” as a reason for not liking her. How she lied about why she quit as governor and told the citizens of Alaska how she would work harder for “them” out of office but has done nothing for the people or the state (except make lots of money for herself in her reality TV series).

Her constant violation of the commandment: “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor” where she has thrown innocent people under the (now very crowded) bus. How she suggested that Joe McGinniss was a pedophile by watching Piper’s bedroom, lied about Obama “palling around with terrorists”, played into Trump’s birtherism, claimed Obama was hell bent on destroying” the country, from the Democratic Underground:

Sarah Palin says President Obama’s push to raise the nation’s debt ceiling demonstrates that he is “hell-bent on weakening America.”

“Palin, interviewed Friday by radio talk show host Laura Ingraham, said the president of the United States was “purposefully weakening America.” During the exchange, the conservative Ingraham, apparently wishing to make sure she had heard correctly what Palin was saying, asked, “So his (Obama’s) goal is to weaken America?” “On this issue, it has to be,” Palin said. “Otherwise, what did he mean back in March of ’06 when he said he understood that raising the debt weakens America.”
      …..

How about the fact that when the Branchflower report came out about the Troopergate affair, it concluded she had clearly abused her power as governor, and yet her public statement was that she had been vindicated, with no finding of wrongdoing? That was one of her more egregious, black-is-white lies.

    • fishingmamma says:

Did the guy mean the kind of family values that covered up the criminal behavior of two of her children and glorified the pregnancy of her unmarried, uneducated daughter? The family value that has not encouraged any of her children to go to college? She uses her family as a stage prop. She trotted out a distant cousin with down’s syndrome on her reality show, and it was a ten-year-old boy that she had never met before.

How about the State of Alaska Death Panels when she was Govenor ? To the point the Feds had to step in and straighten out the program under HER watch ? If I remember correctly, about 200+ people died due to lack of medical care they were entitled to, but denied by the State of Alaska… very similar to what Brewer did to people who needed transplants in AZ.

    • Laurie says:

What could be more important to families than a living wage, access to health care/insurance with protections from the abuse of the insurance companies, expanding health care access to provide coverage for children with special needs so more parents have the sense of security that the Palin’s have that their child can get the care they need, protecting Social Security and Medicare for our senior citizens, civil and personal rights, family leave, labor unions and the right to collectively bargain, safe workplaces, etc.

When they say family values they don’t mean any government policies that are supportive of American families. They mean their own Christian religious beliefs and those who share their own beliefs. I would be tempted to challenge the guy to state what exactly Palin has done (paid speeches don’t count) to promote family values.

I also want to add how foolish Sarah’s “input” was about the poetry reading at the White House. She really has nothing worth hearing or reading to say but persists in putting her vacuous self out there nonetheless. Pathetic that she feels the need to put her two cents worth (actually less value than that) in on non-issues just to get her name in the news cycle.
