Open Thread – Revolution

This clever little bit of Origami is what I like to believe that George Washington might have said if faced with the corporatism that is taking over his country.

Newsweek Magazine has Michelle bachmann on its cover and wingnuts are going nuts because they say Newsweek used a photo of the batsh*t crazy woman that makes her look…..well….crazy. I guess they never heard of truth in advertising. At least they hid the warts and the crooked fangs.

Rick Perry is planning on announcing throwing his 1/2 gallon hat in the ring on Saturday in South Carolina for President. So that must mean that the Palin clan will be gassing up the RV and hitting the road again?

    Mudpups,

You must see this video of “America thanks the Tea Party”. A true LOL moment.

Crude oil fell below 85 bucks a barrel this morning. Why are gas prices still going up? I will not accept it is time for the Labor Day driving season. Millions of us are out of labor and can’t afford to drive anywhere. As for the crooks in Congress who knowingly employ crooks-L Murkowski comes to mind thanks to Shannyn’s latest posting,I’ve said this before. The politicians are so brazen any more that they don’t bother to hide inethical behavior from their voters at home. They don’t care that you know they are crooks because there is a good chance they will get re-elected anyway. One party is worse than the other,IMO,but the lesser evil is still evil. I want my Mommie.

http://www.religiondispatches.org/archive/politics/4972/rick_perry’s_jesus_imperative%3A_a_report_from_saturday%27s_mega-rally/ to read a firsthand account by Sarah Posner. Who is Sarah Posner?: “Author of God’s Profits: Faith, Fraud, and the Republican Crusade for Values Voters, is RD’s senior editor and covers politics for the site. Her work has appeared in The American Prospect, The Nation, Salon, The Washington Spectator, the religion blogs at the Washington Post and the Guardian, and other publications.” I got the link in an email from God’s Own Party, the dominionist watchdog (Leah Burton et al.).

All of you with 401K Republican “pensions” are going to feel like revolution at the end of this week.

I noticed that guv braindead of iowa cut education spending and then gave rockwell korp. 15 million kickback of taxpayer’s monies. The catch is rockwell doesn’t pay taxes to iowa. korp.are taxed on sales in iowa and rockwell doesn’t sell anything in state. braindeads appt as the new head of education is not a teacher and hasn’t been one. Closing employment offices to save money, braindead says those in need can go to public libraries and access computers. Of course many unemployed no nothing of computers and many need translators which they won’t have. I for one am glad btaindead remembered to reward those that favor him. god surely must be in his heaven and the czar is far away.

Littlebird is flying the coop at lunchtime, and I’m leaving shortly for an all day workshop about the school district’s new teacher evaluation process rolling out this year. (Our Union and the district have been Working Together on the plan for almost 2 years; had to be sure it met Race to the Top requirements AND was as Fair as we could make it. We’ll see. It’s better than the old evaluation…)

Later this week, Happy and I head North for our family reunion. 🙂 Littlebird and Spider-man (her fella; he’s a biology student researching bugs and spiders) will come spend Saturday at the reunion. She wants Spider-man to meet her grandparents. 🙂

    Origami!
double delicious with the message folded in.
I have several origami books in my school library. A collection of critters from students who have folded them for me is on display under glass at the circulation desk. 🙂

    Gotta scoot, comrades.

thatcrowwoman – I can’t help but find it touching when a grownchild asks their love interest to travel great distances with them to meet grandparents and other location-far relatives. It’s adding another layer of sharing to an already-compatable, comfortable, and most confident relationship, me thinks.

When DS1 flew across the continent with his love interest just so she could meet that side of the family and could begin getting [physical] hugs-from-the-heart from them, I was full of pride that he felt his ‘old’ family was important to the ‘new’ one he and his love were contemplating making. I must have instilled that larger sense of family in him when I wasn’t looking…or trying to instill it.

Extended family helps anchor and shape … when grownchild introduces love interest into the larger family circle, the tenderness behind the reason for it just blows me away! I hope y’all have a Wonderful time! beth.

My youngest son folded hundreds of cranes to stuff in a box with his big brother’s Christmas present. The present was a gift card, but he wanted to make his brother “work” for it. 😀 All I can make is a cube.

I’m so glad you got to enjoy your time with littlebird. I’ll be waiting to hear more about.this Spiderman fella. 🙂
