Open Thread – Love is in the Air…

Well, it seems that moose are not the only ones feeling a little amorous lately…  I ran into Mudflatter BlueinAK at the Occupy Anchorage rally the other day.  We both happen to have the same awesome camera (Canon 1ds) and we often just check in with each other to confirm that we are both ridiculously in love with it.

This time we also noticed that not only were we working with the same camera body, but we also happened to have the very same 24-70mm lens!  It must have been the rarity of this encounter, but I do believe that our cameras experienced that certain special chemistry when a critter meets one of its own out there in the wide world.  I’m not sure whether this was a whisper or a smooch, but my camera was definitely smitten. It couldn’t even keep its ISO setting straight!

Fortunately, I was able to capture the sweet little moment on my Blackberry, since my camera was a little… (ahem)… busy.

My condolences to you and yours. Sorry doesn’t do the moment justice. Keep the flame alive in your heart and blessed memories.

    Rest in Peace, Brother Forrest.

You never did meet a pepper you didn’t like, the hotter the better, and you swore they kept you alive all these years. All kinds of peppers. That and the love of one good woman, and they don’t come any “gooder” than the big-sister-of-my-heart. The doctors told sis you wouldn’t see 46 with Fabry disease, but like your old Timex, you kept on ticking… and saw 60-some! How lucky am I to have known you, my brother?! So many memories, so many lessons, so many blessings you leave in our lives.

I picture you now, healthy and whole and pain-free, fishing with J.
And also, too, bustling about in heaven’s kitchen, cooking for the whole heavenly host: catch of the day, 3 vegs, biscuits, pie, all from scratch. 🙂

    Brother Forrest.
    Shine on.

    L’Shalom,

My condolences also for the loss of Forrest. They go, we love them. That’s good you have fond memories of him. Peace to your family.

Indeed, shine on, Brother Forrest. As your sis does for all of us here at the ‘flats.

    • the problem child says:

The most up-beat obituary I have ever seen. Still, you must be hurting, and we share your pain. Shalom.

i think i took a marvelous picture of the floor. that camera has a ‘pretty’ function that makes everybody look good. thank goodness.

Do you think their F Stops will get to know each other?

  6. Canon DSLR cameras will do this kind of stuff all the time if their owners don’t watch them carefully. Where did you think Canon point and shoot cameras came from?

  7. blue_in_AK says:

Judging from the splotches which have appeared on my sensor, I would say that Jeanne’s camera is the male. Just sayin’.

  8. mike from iowa says:

Okay,so now you spilled the beans about amorous cameras and stuff, what’s the gestation period for camera embryos and are wedding bells on the horizon? Are us “Pups gonna be aunts and uncles? BTW which camera is the male and which is the opposite sex? Is there a legal age of majority for cameras in Alaska? What does SS have to wax obnoxiously about this? Can they use DNA to match photoes to cameras? What if their offspring is a special needs camera? Is this really a good idea? Help!!

  9. Firecracker says:

Oh, a little camera envy in the morning. I just stepped up to a 7d and love it and am working toward a 5d mark II later this year or next year. Nice lens as well. Of course, I always have some new piece of camera equipment that I am after which drives the hubby up the wall.

This link will take you to a short (10 minutes or so) film about the residents of an Arkansas town who live (and are dying) downstream (and downwind) from a Georgia Pacific (i.e. Koch) plant. Their stories are heartbreaking. On the same page as the film, you can write a personal message to the Koch Bros. and tell them what you think.

    Health and peace.

like i said loving on my Marines.

this is terrible. be ready to be upset. Boston police arrest 100 people among them veterans. they knocked them down and trampled the American flag on the ground. for that alone they should be fired! Bubbles is starting to get angry. i am getting over a sore throat and fever and stuff but soon as i can i am going to go protest and start a bubble brawl. that will show those miserable beings.

Great find Bubble! I, too, love the Marines and all folks in uniform who serve our country. And I particularly love Marines who tell Hannitty to “feck” off.

  12. jimzmum says:

Just got back from a morning of closing Mother’s home. Probably two more days, and that will be it. I will be glad to turn it over to the cleaners!

  13. OMG says:

I posted this on the last open thread but since we’ve moved over to this new one….

That’s right folks…Sarah Palin doesn’t need a title to create problems as she just did in South Korea:

“Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin said she “looks forward to regime change” in North Korea while calling on South Korea to help the North when its regime is finally ousted.”

“Regarding Palin’s remark, the Seoul government showed a cautious response.

“Jo Byoung-jae, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, said flatly “regime change is not a policy goal or the objective of this government.”

“He said he is not criticizing Palin or her statement, but just stating as clearly as possible what the North Korea policy of Seoul is, adding, “I think it is safe to say that it is also not the policy goal of the U.S. government either.”

“Palin’s statement drew attention as it came at a particularly precarious time for South and North Korean relations amid lingering tension on the Korean Peninsula.”

Now maybe the State Department will put her on a no-fly list.

    • beaglemom says:

Why, oh why, did they ever invite her??? Especially to something with the word “knowledge” in it! I agree, Sarah Palin needs to be on a talking to by someone in the State Department and then maybe she should have her passport revoked.

      • London Bridges says:

Put her on the no fly list! If Ted Kennedy was on there, Sarah Who? should be on there!

      • jimzmum says:

She was invited because she is a joke. Somebody needs to stop this stuff.

    • bubbles says:

this woman is not going to go away. she is a clear and present danger to America. Sarah Palin is too stupid to be allowed to go anywhere at anytime to say anything to anybody.
what an complete and absolute fool.

    • leenie17 says:

Can someone PLEASE muzzle her before she starts another war??? Didn’t they learn from the embarrassment she caused in Israel?

It’s just too bad that she finally remembered which Korea is our ally and went to the south instead of the north.

  14. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

    Awww…

And it is a good photo! I might have to look into a blackberry after all … (post lottery win, of course – ha)

  15. Ron Devon says:

Wow! Whatever camera you used to take that picture is fantastic!!
