Mudflix – Conservative David Frum Annihilates Fox “News”
Conservative commentator David Frum (former speechwriter for George W. Bush) says that Fox and conservative talk radio have built “a whole alternative knowledge system with its own facts, its own history, its own economics…”
This is a fascinating interview and well worth the 8:18. In fact, I wish it had gone longer.
Would that the title were true.
Weird interview. Frum never got a chance to elaborate on his comments on Fox News. The interviewer kept asking him to explain, but then interrupted him before he could do so.
I loved his mother, Barbara, on CBC |As it happens” years ago. Definitely not Fox.
CNN = lost journalism. They tried to stay out of the partisan fray – they didn’t make enough waves or money – they caved to drama and half truths. I’m done with them.
He’s been sounding sane ever since he saw through the Empress’ new clothes. He’s what they call a real Republican – the dying breed being trampled by the co-opting, opportunist nut jobs. I may not agree with most of their politics, but I can have a conversation with them and agree to disagree.
He is kind of an Eeyore – but so are most of the Rs I know when it comes to politics. I’m more of a Roo, but we can share the same story from different perspectives.
LOL – I’ve never been a republican or a conservative. But Eeyore is my camp name from my long years at day camp. Eeyore makes me giggle with his gloominess and reminds me NOT to be. But the thing I like most about Eeyore is that he wants to help, likes everyone, wouldn’t do anything to hurt anyone. (In fact, every place but here, I use Eeyore as my screen name – no matter that Eeyore is a he and I’m a she. It’s the spirit of the character rather than the gender that matters.)
Eeyore being gloomy might describe Frum, but not many other republicans, especially the current crop out there. They’re more like the Grinch, with all his worst attributes.
I tend to disagree with Frum’s point of view, but I have a lot of respect for him. Even more since he has been calling out that crazies who are currently in control of the republican party.
CNN used to seem fairly reliable, but I’ve heard a very Fox-like slant on some of their stories so I’ve quit turning them on.
Interesting interview by Frum – would have been better had the interviewer not tried to follow his own prejudices. At least, it seemed that was what he was doing.
Howard Kurtz is part of the problem. This is a man who gets paid 6 figure or more salary to feign ignorance of the FOX or Rush hold on the GOP. Stunning to watch a right winger school the “liberal media” on the nature of media. Kurtz is a tool.
That was excellent! Just wish that interviewer had let Frum finish his thoughts. From everything I’ve read, CNN has become ‘Faux-lite’ so I don’t bother to watch them except when someone posts a link and says this is something you want to see.
Even though he’s a Republican, I have found that Frum generally shoots straight w/o twisting facts. So I enjoy watching him on the liberal outlets.
Faux Noise is a joke.
And outlawed in Canada.
Who the heck was the interviewer? I usually disagree with everything that Frum says, and did with a few of the things he said, but the interviewer? He didn’t let Frum finish a thought. Has that guy ever even watched FOX? I have not watched CNN for almost 5 years, got very tired of them, have they gone the way of FOX? Are they now FOX lite?
Yes, they are Fox Lite, although not as fact-free. There are exceptions, like Fareed Zakaria GPS, which is why I happened to see this interview this afternoon (I was busy, so I left the TV on). I don’t get cable at home, just here at the boyfriend’s.
i agree that the interviewer, howard “dufus” is really pathetic in his role as a “journalist”….but frum is another story….by the end of shrub’s term, frum had had it with all the right wing ideology….i don’t think he sees it as republi-CON (my “misspelling”, intentional, of course)….his sense of right and wrong and rationale was offended for being a country governed for the totality of WE, THE PEOPLE, rather than a few (which he is a part of)……..since then he has been a voice of reason in the forest of fools…..he is a moderate republi-CON or a conservative democrat….whichever, i enjoy his views and rational thinking……well spoken and thought out and fairly centrist…certainly not a drinker of the kool-aid…at least not anymore,,,,thankfully…..
