Osama Bin Laden knew exactly what action to take to destabilize the USA. Most of what we are going through right now in America is due to Bush’s fearful and ill-considered actions after 9-11. Ultimately Bid Laden destabilized the European and North American economies and political systems by counting on predictable reactions from the United States. Like poking a chained dog with a stick, Bin Laden played American conservative politicians and Christian fanatics. We were lucky to have had good leadership during World War II. Now we see the cost of unreasonable fear and ignorant leadership all around us. It is hard to stay informed these days, as so much of the crap spewing from the Republicans is hyperpartisanship. Obama could declare that the perimeter of a square is four times the length of one side, and the Republican wackos would declare it to be an elitist socialist plot. It is not sane out there. It is a challenge for Amercian families to remain steady-on.

Michelle Obama was a guest on the Dave Letterman show tonight. She was a great guest.
I am sure the Reps were hoping she would say something that they could knock her on. Guess they will have to make up something.

There’s some sanity in Brazil. Chevron and Transocean (yes, them) executives have been forced to surrender their passports until investigators decide whether or not their spill was criminal:

    http://www.nytimes.com/2012/03/19/business/energy-environment/brazil-bars-17-at-chevron-and-transocean-from-leaving-after-spill.html?src=recg

“Such comments did not seem to sit well in Brazil. Authorities accused Chevron of lying about the scope of the November spill. And the news media criticized George Buck, the head of Chevron’s Brazil operations, after he and Mr. Moshiri were summoned to Brazil’s Congress to discuss the spill, questioning why Mr. Buck relied on a translator instead of speaking Portuguese.

Now Mr. Buck, an American, is barred from leaving Brazil, and a lengthy legal battle awaits him and other employees at Chevron and Transocean.”

Somewhere in the world there has to be heads that are not always turned by a $ or two!! I find it odd that it seems to be happening in Brazil, given the past history of politics, but am for it no matter what!!

The BP spill in the gulf is interesting to watch as the settlements work themselves out. I will withhold judgement as it was not my life threatened but the whole thing still saddens me.

Thanks for bringing to our attention!

I just read Bristol P. wants President Obama to call and apologize to her, since he called the college student who testified about birth control and told her he supports her and said he knows her parents are proud of her–no apology involved. Any idea what Bristol wants the apology to be about?

Thanks! The cartoon expresses the delicate balance perfectly.

I’m working on a rental computer while mine’s in the shop. Fortunately, it has everything I need on it, but it’s an odd sensation.

The comic is funny and true.
