Open Thread – Pooped Pup.

After the Assembly meeting tonight, I went over to the KOAN studios for Thursdays in the Mud. I got there early, and Shannyn and I talked about the meeting. Linda called in too. Basically, it was 2 hours and ten minutes of venting.

During the breaks, we found ourselves looking at pictures of adorable puppies to keep from throwing things, or strangling ourselves with the microphone cord. Here’s one of my favorites.

Even Chris-in-the-Box, who said he’s normally not that into puppies (WHAT?) saw one that made him go, “Awwwwwww.” You can see that one by liking The Mudflats Facebook page over there on the sidebar —–>

(See how sneakily I did that?)

Now, I’m going to make like that puppy and go pass out.

Have you seen the Obama campaign’s ad to counter the lies of the Kochs?

He looks like a puppy doll, a pampered puppy doll.

I just looked at the pooped puppy again and realized that he looks like the floppy Snoopy toy that our previous dog had. She tucked him into her Orvis dog nest every night – underneath her pink blanket.

Good and bad news: During Obama’s time in office, job recovery in the private sector has been successful, the bad news is that job losses in the public sector are still far behind. Hmmmm, do you think that the GOP’s drive to cut gov. jobs has anything to do with this?

My favorite part of that cuter-than-cute puppy photo is the teeny tiny pink tongue just poking out of his mouth. Flat out adorableness! 🙂

I love that puppy photo! Our two beagles cuddle up to one another in the evening on the family room cushion that they share except at bedtime when one of them shifts to her multi-blanketed part of the family room sofa. They have found the perfect way to share with one another. Very impressive.

Well I have squeezed in just about everything I possibly can into the veggie garden. I’m trying the pack it in with companion plants method. It’s supposed to keep the weeds down. So far, it worked pretty well with the early lettuce and spinach, enough to get me to try it with the rest of the veggies and herbs.

I received a voucher from cat welfare for the feral spay/neuter program and need to see about picking up the cat traps. I had to have a conversation with my next door neighbor about it and now we are best buds. 🙂

It’s going to rain this afternoon so all those new plants in the garden will get a good soaking. The flower beds are full of Irises in bloom. Soon to come will be the roses and the peonies. The first poppy bloomed today and smells like melon. Me? I just plain stink! Maybe I should go get my shower.

Between the craziness of testing at school and the men tramping all over my property as they put up my new siding and garage roof, I haven’t done much at all in my garden so far. It also figures that we finally get a weekend with nice weather and I have a rehearsal tomorrow and a concert on Sunday afternoon. My back spasms if I do too much gardening and then stand on the risers holding my music folder, so the bulk of the weeding, ammending, tilling and planting will have to wait a little longer.

And, since we had the coldest April on record after one of the warmest Marches, I’m not quite sure WHEN I should be planting anything anyway! I did weed the lettuce and spinach sections of the veggie bed last week and added a big pile of leaf compost so I hope to get those seeds in this weekend at least.

So much planting, so little time!

I’m not pleased to post this, but do so as a public service to mudpuppies worldwide. The information from Fukushima Daichi is dire. Here’s a link:

    http://blog.alexanderhiggins.com/2012/05/02/ambassador-exaggeration-fate-world-depends-fukushima-reactor-4-128701/

Mitsuhei Murata, former Japanese ambassador to Switzerland, wrote an eloquent and compelling letter to the UN (available at the blog to which I linked, asking for assistance, because the situation at Reactor #4 and the spent fuel pools are beyond TEPCO’s financial and technological abilities, and if not dealt with, could be the worst nuclear disaster in the history of the planet. In the worst case scenario, it would make Chernobyl look like a walk in the park on a sunny spring day. As the posters in the windows of Japanese-owned businesses in my neighborhood say,

    LOVE
    SAVE
    JAPAN

Loving our companion animals..makes us all..much more honest, thoughtful and wise. We study them..to learn about the trails..we ourselves..have traveled..over time. That is a pooped puppy..full of milk I’d say..and resting. Each of us..together..and individually..sustains our energy..by..coming together here on the flats..and then we Zipout..into the wolrd..where ever we are..and bend to the tasks at hand/paw/talon or fin. A mental zipline..if you will. A sons birthday..was honored recently, by a cousin from Juneau who carved a most stunning killer whale mask..with the family historys and a true happening. 5 whales coming to he and Arnie..from the huge total gathering that could have..swept them into the inlet..and off to become snacks. They understood..the intent..of my male relatives..and 3..swam straight/deep..until the small boat..in a line, and 2 then….bellied up on both sides of that boat. What some call/understand as religion, others see as our spirits..in conversation with, With..each other. Our menfolk..stood in awe..and humbleness..at being spared. Locals..they know..bonedeep..the ways of those water ways. The whales went further up the inlet..and the news later that day..showed they all chased and feasted instead..upon a large contingent of seals..on a ..further beach. Yes mudpups..we gather..and we..refresh..and out we go..the battles are never done..but we all gather..expertise..and strength..from swimming..with each other..Here.

Ooopsie..it was meant to be..’under the small boat’ yeah..sorry. 🙂

Juneaudream, your inimitable way with words is an inspiration. Thanks. And AKM, that puppy gives meaning to the time-honored phrase, “dog tired.”

Soooooo cute. It can’t be real. There is nothing like a puppy to make you feel all snuggly inside. I want to see ALL of them.
