Open Thread – Dog Days of Summer
Buf the Dog is a fan of many things – salmon skin, Kraft singles, being scratched between the eyes. But she is definitely NOT a fan of having her picture taken. So, when I saw her lazing about in the grass, I knew I had to work quickly, without being seen, and from inside the house. I got many good shots, but this one was my favorite. Golden sun, smelling the air, and generally just being happy to be a dog.
I think that what you’ve captured in that photo is ‘Buf Bliss’!
Then again, if I was sitting in that field surrounded by the fresh breeze and the warm sun, and thinking of a slice of Kraft singles, I might look very much the same!
Oooh, like my new quilt square! Pretty design and looks kinda purple-y…one of my favorite colors! đŸ™‚
Love the picture. This is the first time in my life I haven’t had a dog, but kind people let me pet their dogs as they walk by while I’m working in the yard. Been checking the pound recently looking for a new best friend.
I always love seeing pictures of Buf, and this one is great – the kind of day that every dog loves.
I always had trouble taking photos of our dogs, cat and the bunny. But I did get a few, usually when they were walking towards me – some of those have that scary eye reflecting thing that happens with pets – not red eye, but a kind of glowing.
I watched the Queens Jubilee today. That Kate is a beautiful gal. —-then it was golf this afternoon.
Was so happy to see Tiger win. The shot on 17 was breathtaking. I can’t wait to see what he does in the British Open.
She is SO beautiful. It’s a shame you have to sneak in photos, but the end results are worth it. Health and peace.
She is such a lovely pup.
Aww. Great sneaky photo- Buff is gorgeous, regal even. Miss Mocha and I are headed for a walk, a good thing to do before it heats up.
Such a beautiful snap, reminds me of an irish blessing.
“May the blessing of Light be on you –
light without and light within,
May the blessed sunlight shine on you
and warm your heart till it glows like
a great peat fire, so that the stranger
may come and warm himself at it, and
also a friend.
And may the light shine out of the two
eyes of you, like a candle set in two
windows of a house, bidding the wanderer
to come in out of the storm.”
Slainte’ and peace to all
My dogs won’t sit still for a good picture either. Bay, my German Shepherd, will sit in the snow and sun himself. He’s a long hair and prefers cooler temps. I have to go get the pooches a new pool this year. The bottom of the old one is completely cracked. I’m thinking I might repurpose the old pool into a raised bed.
Planning on visiting the arts festival we have going on downtown today. Give Buff a scritch behind the ears for me.
Beautiful photo! Our beagles are also very fond of Kraft singles and of any other kind of cheese. And neither of them will stay still enough for a good photo. But we love them nonetheless. We had a scare last night, though, because when I sent them outside for the last time, I could distinctly smell skunk. Thank God we all got back in the house with no encounters.
We spent an hour this morning just revelling in the sunshine, my 2 guys and I. It’s rare that their fur is warm with the sun.
