Open Thread – Don’t Judge
Anyone who thinks that animals don’t have personalities needs to rethink that assumption. This is Buf the Dog, with our houseguest Ladybug in the background.

Putting the goober in gubernatorial -Friday, January 28, 2022
Need some expert help on language. In writing comments to the Sioux City Journal editorial page, one comment was not accepted because I used profanity. Like Snowdrift Snookie I was innocent. In fact the comment was about her and how her minions rewrote the midnight ride of Paul Revere to fit her gobbledygook revisionist history. I did say she could gut a moose and the truth with equal aplomb. So I removed aplomb. Nope that wasn’t it. I removed gut, thinking maybe it offended someone’s sensibilities. Nope again. So I removed gobbledygook and replaced it with gibberish and that sailed through the censors. Earlier I had to replace hell with heck to get through. Is there a slang meaning for goobledygook that is offensive or profane? Not according to my dictionary, but I;m not sure I could use DICtionary and get past these guys. It is really hot and I’m really bored.
Not a shred of profanity about the word “gobbledygook, at least not in my dictionary.
Our local paper thanked her but refused a letter from our beagle. It was when Uno the beagle won the Westminster Dog Show and the paper had shown his photo as winner of best in group, which he was but he was also best in show. A first for beagles. The editorial person did say that our beagle wrote better than some people. She is quite literate, although last evening she made it clear to us that she found the movie “Alphaville” to be too bizarre to her tastes. She didn’t even bother with the subtitles.
Mike, the objection may be to “gook” — a perjorative term used by US soldiers in the Viet Nam war to refer to the locals.
Not that slipstream hisownself was there, but he knows plenty of people who were.
Buf and Ladybug remind me of why I love dogs. What caninality! They’re enjoying the summer as if they know it won’t last.
Frontline on PBS is doing a story next week, July 24, on the Pebble Mine/ Bristol Bay issue.

Set your DVR.
Check out the story I just posted. This show will air one day AFTER the deadline for us to comment on the EPA’s watershed assessment.
PLEASE PLEASE comment using the link in the article right here titled “The Time to Toss Pebble is Now.”
This is our best chance to stop this.
Dang it, Lady — you need to get your Wellies icon back! I nearly missed this important comment from you because it didn’t ‘stand out’. Trust me – you really do need to get your bright yellow boots back for postings. Seriously. beth.
OK – I am still having difficulty accessing Mudflats on Firefox. However, I can access it on Safari. What gives?
I prefer Firefox. Anybody have any suggestions? Many thank yous.
Cussing like a sailor works. I run Chrome on my MacBook. Couldn’t get here for several days.
http://www.pbs.org/newshour/updates/climate-change/july-dec12/swinomish_07-18.html I’m guessing you good people of Alaska and the Pacific Northwest are well aware of this already.
Tonight the weatherman on ? said that so far in July (in Seattle) we have had 3 days with 80′ or over – 12 minutes, 8 minutes and 24 minutes! Not even an hour of over 80 this month! Good thing there is no climate change!
yay! i got on Mudflats today.
hello all. hope everyone is doing well.
it has been very hot and humid in New York so i have been hanging out out in the AC.
we just had a much needed thunder storm and a nice bit of rain to cool us off for a while. the air is fresh and smells wonderful….. i will be so glad when all the problems are are finally fixed with this new server and stuff. i have a feeling i am not the only one is having trouble negotiating the new system and going back and forth between threads and checking into the forum.
as the presidential race begins to heat up i hope to be able to come have fun on Mudflats’ open thread and to check out the forum. i hope Mudpups are keeping in touch with old friends from years past and having meet-ups when you can.
i have made a few life-long friends here on the blog and i hope you have too.
if you don’t see me commenting it is not because i don’t want to it is because i can’t get on.
many hugs and kisses to you all….love Bubbles
Hi bubbles!
You are not alone!

take best of care , miss you!
Hiya, Bubbles. I got caught in that beautiful thunderstorm. My silk leggings are still drying. I think the shoes may dry by tomorrow. I have a new air conditioner in the bedroom, and it’s working like a charm. Miss you!
zyx — tell us more about the silk leggings, draped across the shower rod, slowly drying . .
Black silk?
Not this time. A pale fleshy beige, low waisted, with no ankle band (just a plain hem).
By the way, have you seen the one about Sherrod Brown’s wife?

Some conservative Blogger thought he had a story.
Oh that was a HOOT! Recommended read to everyone. She really handled it gracefully.
Ladybug reminds me of my Brie. Belly up on a beautiful day. Love this picture!
Awwww I miss hanging with your dog Jeanne… I still laugh when I think of the time that we were driving along and a black bear was running along the side of the car (keeping up pace, scarily) and I look back and the pup just had this look of desperate concern on his face mirroring mine.
I guess it was one of those you had to be there moments… But it was such an essential Alaskan moment… we drove from Shannyn’s to your place and on the way saw a moose, the bear and a lynx along the way.
