Open Thread – Patience

As many of you have noticed, we’ve been experiencing some … how shall I put this… unforeseen opportunities to practice patience and tolerance here at Mudflats Central. Most people refer to that as “having technical difficulties.”

Although the bad news has been problems accessing the forums, outages on the blog, long loading times, broken RSS feeds, missing images, and link challenges, the good news is that we have a shiny new server now, and that most of the big stuff is behind us! (insert loud and sustained cheering noises here) All that is left now is some minor tweaking, which should be resolved in the next day or so.

Thanks for your understanding through our transition. There is light at the end of the tunnel, and hopefully it’s not a train.

    Hi AKM, web team, All.

Best of luck working everything out. The randomness of things working, or not, is interesting. Keeps us on our toes.

Dad used to quote Otto Von Bismark about learning from others’ mistakes, but late in life he was fond of saying, “May all your problems be medium-sized, so you can see them.”

  2. Sister A says:

Oh I miss my mudflats! it’s like your favorite bar or coffeeshop or park bench is under renovation – you know everything will be back to normal – hell, BETTER than normal – but in the meantime, your heart has a little dose of the sadz. *sigh*
Sending you a virtual Get Well bouquet, dear Mudflats.
Probably should send AKM a box of chocolate covered espresso beans and some aspirin….

  3. Zyxomma says:

Ahhh. That was a sigh of relief.

  4. LA Brian says:

I saw the picture and started humming an Andrew Lloyd Weber song. I hope all is resolved to your satisfaction soon, AKM,

    Hmm..well er ..I think I will check up on, then checkout..’tweaking’..as I have heard a LOT about it..over the years. I have no proper dealieos..and only dried oregano..but hey…with no warning..what else..was I to do? πŸ˜‰

The forum is still experiencing many problems… Links are not working, after clicking on a link, replace .org with .net, and you will arrive… Unfortunately posting isn’t working either right now….

  7. tallimat says:

    No problem AKM.
    Thanks for the explanation.

Last year I lost my phone picking blueberries.
So this year, I went on a blueberry recon trip (to see if there are any and if they are ripe) and found it!
Battery was dead so I plugged it in and yeah, it worked.

Life would be better if there were more blueberries…

For New Yawker’s,the light at the end of their tunnel is New Joisey. Just saying. Got about two tenths of an inch of wet stuff last night. First measurable precip in almost two months. Not enough, but it all evens out someday. Keep right on smiling,I will.

Hey Mikey…did you send one of them twirly tornaydah things here to NY the other day???

It did a whole bunch of damage to Elmira, which is sooo not used to twisters. I know you like to share, but STOP IT!!!

  9. BeeJay says:

Gotta love technical difficulties: usually things are way better afterwards.

One thing: Brian has disappeared! In Firefox, there is usually a little mini-icon that personalizes each bookmark. Brian has trotted off to the mountains, and what I have show up now is a very nice green tree leaf. It looks like an alder leaf too, so that’s very appropriate all in all.

    But what spooked Brian? πŸ™

    • mike from iowa says:

This is easy to figure out. With all the rain on the Alaska plain,Brian is inundated with fresh munchies and is busy adding a layer of fat before rethuglicans find out about it and take his tallow for the 1%.

  10. thatcrowwoman says:

May the gremlins plaguing the ‘flats make like $arah and QUIT on us.
    Happy Quitter’s Day, all!

I’m going to celebrate by quitting my chores for the morning and heading to the pool with a book.

From one who is- to put it kindly- technologically challenged, good luck and I hope the little gremlins that live in the tubes stay away from your site πŸ˜‰

  12. Alaska Pi says:

Nah- It’s Pi and the ‘flats gang at the end of the tunnel, hanging out , waiting for the soiree to start πŸ™‚
Best wishes for getting all the dealies behind the technical curtain sorted out.
We’re terribly spoiled with this nice place to hang out . We’ll be here.

    • leenie17 says:

      Ohhh, I see.

Those are just the strings of sparkly party lights hanging from the porch, waiting for the guests to arrive! I’ve got a bottle of wine, all chilled and everything. Be there as soon as I can… πŸ™‚
