“It’s Our Oil” Rally – Saturday 11:00am
Community leaders and volunteers come together to stand up for Alaska

On Saturday, September 22, at 11am., the Alaska Democratic Party will host an “It’s Our Oil” rally to give Alaskans the chance to show their support for Alaska getting its fair return on its oil resource. Senator Bill Wielechowski and community leader David Gottstein will speak to local volunteers and other Alaskans gathered to stand up for Alaska’s fair share.

“As Alaskans, it’s our oil, and our future depends on Alaskans standing up for our fair return on that resource,” said Senator Bill Wielechowski. “We can get more oil in the pipe and get our fair share of the wealth that comes from it. But to get there, we have to take a stand now.”

Alaskans across the state opposed the governor’s proposals to give away as much as $2 billion a year in oil revenue without accountability or guarantees for more production. The governor has shown no credible evidence that giving away billions of dollars will lead to more investment or more oil production in Alaska.

“It is clear that we would be much better off by rewarding new exploration and new production with tax breaks, as offered by the Senate Bi-Partisan Working Group, since that is where our future oil production growth will come from,” added David Gottstein, a local professional in the financial industry. “We should not be giving away billions of dollars in tax breaks for old and largely depleted fields that aren’t capable of expanding oil production in any meaningful way, and will be produced anyway.”

Wielechowski noted that the governor’s giveaways would allow multi-national corporations to take the money from Alaska’s oil out of Alaska and invest it to develop foreign oil in countries like Iraq and Libya.

“Nothing in the governor’s giveaways require one more nickel to be spent in Alaska or one more drop of oil to go through TAPS,” said Wielechowski. “If the goal is to get more investment here, more oil in our pipeline, then we have ways to target incentives to those goals. We can’t simply give away money across the board with no strings attached.”

One would think that after hour after mindless hour spent getting thiiiiiiiss close, the “Mercy Rule” would kick in, and the umpteen-hundredth time one tried, one could easily 3-star that Angry Birds level. But no. beth.

Could it be that they are running scared in Washington?

“In an after-midnight session the U.S. Senate passed a bill Saturday in a 62 to 30 vote to fund the federal government for the next six months, thus putting off any shutdown of the government until early next year. The bill will go to the president for his signature and final passage into law.

In a previous after-midnight vote, the Senate overwhelmingly passed a non-binding resolution stating that the United States will not rely on a containment policy, if Iran develops a nuclear weapon, and urged President Obama to continue economic sanctions and diplomatic pressure to force Iran to stop any such weapons development. ”

Happy Equinox, everyone. All of you know I’m passionate about organic, nutrient-dense, honest food. That does NOT include GMOs, which must be LABELED. Urge everyone you know in the state of California to vote YES on Proposition 37. Monsanto, Dow, Cargill, and their cohort are outspending us HUGELY to fool CA voters into voting no. Once GM food must be labeled in CA, it will follow that the food for the rest of us will be labeled. Virtually every processed food contains GMOs.

Today is the LAST day to see Jeffrey Smith’s film, Genetic Roulette, for free online. Here’s the link:

Thanks for letting people know about this effort. I have seen the commercials on the TV stating these ideas.

NOW is the time this country should be especially thinking about investing in our future in every way we can, from future exploration (OK, so not all are thrilled with us pulling still MORE oil from the ground, but it is always good to know what is out there, even if it is not tapped immediately) education, infastructure, renewable energy, etc.

Hope the rally is a great success.

Also Happy First Day of FALL!!! Hope all those having to deal with flooding waters are safe and able to return to their homes and businesses quickly!!
