Intense dislike of the media? Check.
Included in the deck of Alaskan Outlaws playing cards? Check.
Legal defense fund? Check.
Book deal? Looks like another check.
“Curmudgeonly ex-senator Ted Stevens is back on the Washington party circuit – vindicated, shrimp cocktail style. The famed former senator from Alaska, who narrowly lost re-election in November after he was convicted on corruption charges, showed up at a fancy book party Thursday night for Philadelphia radio talk show host Michael Smerconish. Stevens, 85, hinted to us that he’s beginning work on his memoirs. … “It’s a hell of task,” the famously gruff Alaskan groused. [snip]
In a classic Washington moment, also mingling at the party last night, grazing off the same buffet table as Stevens, was hotshot defense attorney Bill Taylor, a partner with Zuckerman Spaeder, who is defending the head of the Justice Department’s Public Integrity section against potential criminal wrongdoing in the Stevens case.
We don’t believe Stevens and Taylor had a chance to chat.
Sounds to us like Stevens may be looking for a ghostwriter to write his story. He told the Sleuth, “Well, I don’t know that I’m writing it,” suggesting that maybe he’ll get a collaborator.
Ghost writer? Check.
Perhaps the book of Ted will be the second in a series. You Can’t Make This Stuff Up – Volume II.

I just watched Gov. Perry on Keith Olbermann. OMG…..I always thought Texans were all just regular folks. Guess I have been in a bubble of naivety most of my life. Glad to see Texans on the Mudflats!

when that long shot won at the Derby, DH asked me was it a muddy track (had been flooding rains here at the eastern end of the state that day).
I just gave him “the look”.
Only time longshots win the Derby is when it’s a sloppy track and the long shot is a mudder.

How funny. I had a vague memory of this movie maybe from when my kids were younger and just kept thinking of it for Ted and Sarah. Thanks for the link… after seeing the quotes, I could have fun with a Ted and Sarah conversational story.

Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure somehow keeps coming to mind. Maybe a collaborative effort entitled “Ted and Sarah’s Excellent Misadventures” is in order.

Yeah, I bet Sarah doesn’t much appreciate Uncle Ted coming out w/ a book deal right now and upstaging her. But then, maybe she can commission that guy who wrote “Million Little Pieces” to do hers. No doubt her “story” will need more than a little bit of embellishment!

#8 John – I agree. At least I wouldn’t be embarrassed to be seen reading his book. Before Stevens got himself into trouble he actually accomplished quite a bit that was good for Alaska. He was an adult here during the building, boom, bust, and beyond years of the state and I’m sure he has many great stories to tell.
For that matter, Bill Allen came a long way from the welder he started out as and likewise would have quite a few good stories to tell.
As for GINO, I can’t think of a single accomplishment that would be worth reading about.

Guess all these Alaskan politicians/citizens publishing books want to make sure that you other Alaskans have sufficient reading materials when you are snowed in next winter!!

Ted Stevens: Gone but innocence ill gotten.
At least Ted Stevens has a great story to tell. He has been involved in a lot of important issues. He hasn’t always only been about pork and getting contributors to do favors for him. Unlike GINO’s book, I wouldn’t be ashamed to be seen reading Uncle Ted’s book.

At least Steven’s book will have accomplishments worth writing about. His experience will put Palin’s in his pocket. What in the world could she say that has not already been said? Maybe she will have the witch doctor from Africa write a paragraph or two.
I don’t know about Todd but I fully expect Bristol to come out with a book about how she was treated by bloggers and the press..I still think Levi and family should beat them all to the punch.Wouldn’t that be great if not funny
