Day 19/20 – The Melt

Day 19 and 20 kind of melted together, which is in keeping with the theme outside. It’s melting. Big time. I say this in hushed tones so Old Man Winter doesn’t catch on that I know. Fortunately for all of us, even though the jet stream and the precipitation don’t seem to get it, the sun is actually doing its job. No weather is going to change the axis of the Earth, so our daylight hours continue to grow, and the sun gets warmer by the day.

Most of the snow is gone from the lawn, although mornings are still freezing, and the dripping from the eaves is doing interesting things on the north side of the house.

And then I spotted Brian the moose crossing the road on the way down the hill this morning, with the beautiful blue of Cook Inlet in the background.

And I was treated to this lovely sunset, some time around 11:00pm.

Shhhhh. Don’t say anything, but I think the ‘S’ word is coming! And I don’t mean snow!

Legislators in Texas(rwnj controlled) get a raise in their retirement and force teachers to contribute more to their retirement. Spring hell.Rwnj keep the full heat on educators.

rwnj congressperson Steve Stockman from Texas has printed a bumper sticker that says if babies had guns, there be no abortions. I read a few days ago a 2 year old toddler in North Carolina found a handgun, put it in his mouth and pulled the trigger. Doctors can’t believe the bullet missed all vital organs and arteries, etc. At least one parent was home with the child. Charges I believe are pending. Probably charge the toddler with illegal discharge of a firearm. Can’t wait to hear the NRA’s excuse for this one. It is Memorial weekend, please buy more guns and let more kids have access to them so they can put up more memorials to the monumental stoopidity of rwnj politics.

Nutjob guv Coburn of Oklahoma doesn’t want direct tornado relief aid. He wants rwnj to offset aid with cuts in other budgetary priorities. Is we rwnj playing politics with disaster aid, again? NJ guv Christie refused to play the game and rethugs tried to eat him up.

Colburn the Consistent: pay for federal disaster relief by taking food from the mouths of the poor.

My keyboard is broke. I was sure I typed Senator Coburn and the kb spit out guv. Coburn. My keyboard is an idiot.(That is as close as I will ever come to apologizing to that rwnj)

Whoopee! Snow should be gone from front yard by end of the day. Ground thawing comes next. The long sunny days are envigorating. How come I am not inspired to do housework?

    • Alaska Pi says:

because it is illegal to do the housework when the outdoors has become easily habitable again.
      well.
that’s what my mom always said anyway and she was an attorney.

Brian the Moose looks as if he’s been suffering from the Winter That Would Not Quit, too — rather scruffy and more than a tad down in the mouth from all the shenanigans of the weather, I presume. Glad you spotted him, AKM, I do Love me some ambling Brian! beth.
