Bird of the Week – Horned Puffin
Alaska’s other puffin, the Horned Puffin, is nearly as elegant as its Tufted Puffin cousin.
This is another photo from the Seabird Aviary at the Alaska Sealife Center in Seward, Alaska. WC is advised the bill pointing is a dominance display.
Technical stuff: aperture f6.3, shutter speed 1/640, ISO 1600.
I love puffins!!!! There is some kind of artistic style ( which I can’t remember the name of ) which surely takes it’s bold lines and dramatic use of back and white and splash of color from puffinry. 🙂
I got to know why when rethugs scream for smaller gubmint and less spying on citizens, why does there have to be a kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus and species listed for these birds. Even I can tell by looking at it,that this critter is a rill bird and not a dog or cat. Interesting looking bird, too,I should add.
Thank you, WC. Thank you, horned puffin.
Beautiful images, beautiful birds, thank you!
