Wendy Davis Officially Running for Governor

The only bad news in this story is that she’s not running for Governor of Alaska.

State Senator Wendy Davis of filibuster fame has officially announced that she’s running for Governor of the second largest state in America. At her announcement she defined what her campaign would be all about from CBS News:

“We’re here because we want to fight for Texas jobs and help Texas companies grow,” Sen. Davis added. “We’re here because we want every child, no matter where they start in Texas, to receive a world-class education to take them anywhere they want to go, so that success and opportunity is within reach of every single Texan, and no one in this great state is ever forced to dream smaller instead of bigger.”

Watch this video to learn more about the woman will hopefully be the next Governor of Texas.

Many wonderful people, not all of them women, are working very hard to turn TX blue. Let’s all do what we can to help Wendy become Governor of Texas.

Not wishing to appear negative but she has a snowballs chance in h…. of winning.

Bonnie, I have no clue where YOU reside, but I’m a Texan. And your wish not to appear negative is lost on me. It’s 13 months to the election. Wendy only announced, officially, YESTERDAY.

I actually live in Texas, and she’s the best thing that’s happened to the Democratic Party since the twin Castro brothers became 1) the mayor of San Antonio and 2) a U.S. representative for the state. She will get national support in this race, besides what is coming from all of us Texas Democrats, uncommitted voters, and disgusted, formerly moderate, Republicans here who are anxious for change from the teabaggers. So please don’t count Wendy out just yet.

Of course, you might be right that she’s not going to pull off this race. Her road ahead is particularly tough and burdensome, considering what she’s up against. However, I recommend that we all just wait and see where she takes us.

And, just a reminder of a little something to keep in mind:

“The gap (between blue and red voting majorities) is so stark that some of America’s bluest cities are located in its reddest states. Every one of Texas’ major cities — Austin, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio — voted Democratic in 2012, the second consecutive presidential election in which they’ve done so…Because winning a state’s electoral votes requires only a simple majority, a single city can change the entire game.”

Win or lose the Governor’s race, Ms Davis has won .

    You go, Wendy!

  4. Ice Gal says:

Well I wish her luck. But I think she has aboot as much of a chance of winning as we here in Alaska have of electing a sane person to our governors office.
