Putting the goober in gubernatorial -Friday, January 28, 2022
Hats off to Alaska Airlines President and CEO Bradley Tilden who sent this letter today to Arizona Governor Jan Brewer. It speaks for itself.
I wish I could give credit to this wonderful quote, but someone said “When it comes to dollars or Jesus, dollars win.”
VETOED!! Guaranteed that this veto was done for all the wrong reasons. Not out of compassion for fellow humans or wanting equality across the board. Simply that the economic threat, loss of revenues from Super Bowl and tourism, etc trumps ideological gamesmanship.
yup
Reporting from Ground Zero: I don’t care what the motivation or reasons were. Governor Brewer vetoed the bill, and that is all that matters. If the way to change a politician’s mind is through threatening economic damage, then so be it.
I’m really heartened by the fact that so many Arizonians were against this.
Things are changing. Even Jan Brewer admitted that. As Van the Man said: “You can’t stop us as we’re on the road to freedom”.
My desert Skookumchuck-let us try to dissect Ms Brewer’s mind change. One(me) tends to wonder if there aren’t more motivational factors at work that supercede a wingnut’s religious beliefs. I can hope beyond hope that maternal instincts to nurture all humans would play an important role in this veto. Treat others as yourself as the bible says could sway her. Love thy neighbor? Nah,what really appears to be the crux is Platte River religion- a mile wide and an inch deep beliefs.Financial destruction of Arizona’s economy,as swift and as sure as any biblical apocalypse and more likely to occur, saved the day in Arizona. When push came to shove,Brewer chose the almighty greenback over the almighty. I say well done,Madame. I still don’t trust her as far as I can toss a bobcat.
More improtantly,to mikey’s way of thinking,is whether you have bears in the desert. How cool would that be-you live in a desert with bears and Alaska Pi living in a forest with bears? Then there is mikey, living next to a cornfield with nobears or un-bears. I’d guess spirits have a strange sense of humor,if I only could know which spirits I might be insulting.
We do have little Black bears living in the higher altitudes all over the state, and in the mountains near here.
One thing we need a lot more of is Snark. Enough to inspire more of us into a state-wide snarky attitude. Next time my state rep (Republican) comes around, I intend to welcome her with a little snark.
🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 4 out of a possible 4 smileys for you. And one more just because. 🙂
Makes me proud , gay and alaska air the FIRST airline i choose
I went on line and sent them a thank you through their feedback section. I think it has more impact than saying it a facebook page. especially since you can include your frequent flyer number so they know you are a customer. It is imporant to thank businesses who go out of their way to support human rights. (I know, they all should, but since they don’t, we need to encourage the good ones)
Great letter. I’ve enjoyed numerous visits to Arizona. I stayed at Tree of Life Center in Patagonia, hiked in the Grand Canyon, ate nopal, drove around Phoenix and Tucson (as a passenger, I don’t drive), and truly love the Sonora Desert Museum, Saguaro National Park, the petroglyphs, etc. Until AZ stops electing RWNJs, I’ll stay away, and keep my memories.
Zyx, we need more inspiring people like you to come visit, not less. We’re changing. We need solidarity. Come back and let me drive you around!
Apple,Marriott and the NFL took stand against this bill.57% of Arizona wingnuts, including both US sinators want bill vetoed
