Ordinance 64 – Live Blogging, Round V

Yes, boys and girls… it’s time for Red Shirt Theatre, Act V. The Non-Discrimination Ordinance public testimony continues. The link for live streaming the Anchorage Assembly Meeting is HERE.

Use this thread to live blog the meeting if you feel so inclined. Public testimony will be given regarding Ordinance 64, which extends Anchorage’s non-discrimination policy to include the words “sexual orientation.” The red shirt brigade are an organized crowd from several local area evangelical churches.

This will be the second round of public testimony in front of new Mayor Dan Sullivan.

Recent polling suggests that the ordinance has very good public support, although you’d never know it from watching these meetings.

The meeting runs until 11pm Alaska time (midnight Pacific, 3am Eastern) and I am unsure when public testimony on this topic will begin. Stay tuned…

UPDATE:
That’s it, folks. The public testimony is closed. The Assembly voted to extend the meeting 20 minutes to make it to the end of the list. Ossiander hit the gavel at 11:20pm. Now they actually get to discuss it next time.

Laurie not mean at all. I have been following these meetings also and those red shirts do not seem christian to me,they just spill out the hate and I heard no one mention the new testament and thew love Jesus said we should show each other or the compassion. It is hard to believe my family had lived among those types of bigots

  2. Laurie says:

As all muddies have…I have been following these hearings. I usually live stream, but last night I was so tired I fell asleep with my computer on.

I have read through all your posts, and is sounds like there were some fairly effective blue shirts there with thoughtful and profound things to say.

I still am stunned by all this, because I am Canadian, and this is just so foreign to me. To think that my sister could possiblly have lived in a community with people like those red shirts makes me feel ill. Yes…in her early years, (early 70’s) she had to be discreet. Those days are long gone. She can be openly who is she….be anywhere with her spouse…and they had one of the most beautifu and touching weddings I have ever attended. This wedding was performed by an ordained Presbyterian minister, who unfortunately, had to be discreet about it. He too, is a gay man. So..we still have some issues, but nothing like what Anchorage is experiencing currently.

What really gives me hope from your postings, are the young people. My goodness…the courage it took to say the positive things they did. I was embarrassed by what I read about the bible spewing red shirts. I don’t know why they only read and interpret only certain parts of the bible, and really…..to be this politically involved, do they really deserve exemption from taxation? Perhaps this needs to be looked at carefully.

This is mean, but I hope that Prevo has lost his bid for this abomination, and that he gets a huge come uppance.

  3. Ennealogic says:

At first I viewed these hearings with horror and despair. As weeks passed and the red shirt parade kept reading from their holy book, denouncing their neighbors and railing against the assembly for even daring to think about passing this ordinance, my perceptions of the hearings changed.

This night, largely thanks to the intelligent and entertaining people with whom I’ve been sharing the experience of listening to the testimony, I was able to see the red shirts as downright comical in all their rigid, self-righteous seriousness; they are but a small slice of the American pie. Their obsession with assimilating anyone not like them will fail because nature adores multiplicity. Mono-cropping spells disaster.

Gah, those are some strange analogies, but I’m sleep deprived! Thanks to AKM for the forum and to all mudpups who shared their thoughts and observations.

  4. Bent Alaska says:

Back home now – Thanks to AKM and everyone here for the snark and reality checks, and for leaving an interesting record of the hearings. You rock!

Public speaking makes me nervous. My heart was pounding.

Ya did fine Chirs, glad to have met ya too.

  6. Super Bee says:

    827 GreatGrey

    Surely he didn’t?

    LOL.

  7. bucfan says:

Wolfpack, and he traveled around with twelve other single guys and hung out with lepers and prostitutes. I wonder if the lepers wore gloves.

  8. bucfan says:

Greatgrey, many blessings from whatever entity you believe in for sitting through that for all of us and keeping us informed.

  9. GreatGrey says:

Home. Last thing I heard was Prevo talking to Mr Necrophilia, asking if his wife could have been more graphic.

  10. Wolf Pack says:

The most important person, in the history of mankind is Jesus. Who wasn’t married and didn’t have children. Guess he had more important things to do than marry and raise children.

  11. lovemydogs says:

AKM-check out the Alaska Fund Bust thread-much to be seen there.

  12. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

Dunno. and did someone say he left? Maybe those old “Where’s Sarah” buttons can be overwritten with “Dan” instead

  13. strangelet says:

So, what happens now? The Assembly passes the Ordinance and New Mayor Dan vetoes it? Is there enough support to override?

  14. bucfan says:

Now the fun starts with the actual vote and if it passes what will old Danny boy do about it? And I just think it was funny that the guy kept talking about the family unit when we have had so many good examples of how good Christian republicans feel about the family unit. Mark Sanford and John Ensign anyone?

  15. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

It was a wild ride, for sure. thanks for giving us this space to see it and talk about it etc.

mudpup hugs to whoever wants one,
    Nan

  16. akmuckraker says:

Thanks all. This would have been unbearable without Mudflatters. You kept me sane!

  17. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

yeah, someone moved to adjourn, didn’t even get the words out of his mouth when it was seconded (I think) and the words “adjourned!” rang out lol

fastest adjournment I’ve ever seen lol

  18. Super Bee says:

Thanks AKM, Mudpups; you guys are great!

  19. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

I’m so so SO glad we had – not just blue shirts – but articulate, reasonable, logical blue shirts!

    wow.

  20. Village Reader says:

Thank You to everyone for the constant updates.

  21. Fern says:

    What, already?

    😉

  22. Chris Kunzler says:

Public speaking makes me nervous. My heart was pounding.

  23. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

just a bit, Wolf Pack. to the max, actually

  24. califpat says:

    That’s it!!

  25. strangelet says:

She smote them with the gavel.

  26. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

    the list is DONE! (finally)

  27. akmuckraker says:

Public hearing is closed. Wow. It’s been a ride.
    Meeting adjourned.

  28. bucfan says:

Is that Coffey who is yelling like an ass?

  29. strangelet says:

    Yay Gavel

  30. Wolf Pack says:

Did he say something about family and norms?

  31. califpat says:

Dysfubctional families comes in all sectors.

  32. lexky says:

    and thats all folks
    everybody have a wonderful night

  33. Super Bee says:

    zzzzzzzz

  34. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

There is no “societal normal family” – he’s living in a dream world, along with Wally and Beaver and the rest

  35. Canadian Neighbour says:

Well according to him I’m totally messed up. Have no siblings and have no husband!! Therefore I am not a family ‘Unit’. Listening to him, I’m quite thankful I don’t fall under that label

  36. strangelet says:

    Nuke the families.

  37. bucfan says:

My son had a gay teacher down in Washington State who has been together with his partner for almost thirty years. He was the best teacher he has ever had

  38. AKaurora says:

Oh, God save the UNIT (man & wife/family)! Don’t let the family unit be replaced by the single unit. Don’t weaken societal norm, strong healthy community.

    THE END!!!!!

  39. akmuckraker says:

It’s all about the family. Each of us came from a mother and a father, not “out of thin air.” The family is not a collection of individuals, they are related to each other created from a husband and wife.

What about adoption? So same sex couples can’t have a family? Ugh…

Ordinance confuses the family norm. Does he know this is not about same sex marriage?

  40. strangelet says:

Well, quite a few of us have no siblings.

There are even a lot of heterosexual families wit zero children.

    Your argument sucks.

  41. Wolf Pack says:

    Save the nuclear families. Next!

  42. bucfan says:

Hmmm. you mean like the family of the two ladies who have been together for thirty two years with kids? Probably better adjusted than a lot of those kids wearing red the past few weeks.

  43. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

it was as if he wanted to “clear his name” more than speak to the ordinance itself –

uh oh – this one is even more “unique”

  44. GreatGrey says:

Earth to Root Unit, come in Root Unit..

  45. califpat says:

Uh Oh! Here we go again.

  46. WakeUpAmerica says:

I feel kind of bad for that guy, but you can’t judge all people by the behavior of one.

  47. Super Bee says:

Eww Boy Scouts, creepy dude yeah Nan I’m with ya.

  48. strangelet says:

I am a USAF vet. So what?

  49. califpat says:

    You want a medal??

  50. strangelet says:

This guy sounds like the night of the living dead.

  51. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

more than creepy… not sure I want to know the “real story” on this one.

  52. strangelet says:

Oh. jeez. Let’s determine our vote on the ordinance based on one person (alleged).

  53. Super Bee says:

    Creepy dude…

  54. califpat says:

You did just fine young lady!! Thanks!!

  55. WakeUpAmerica says:

    yes, good on her!!

  56. akmuckraker says:

Another laptop. Started gay-straight alliance in H.S. Today is a special day for equal rights. Matthew Shepherd Act passed congress today. In the spirit of that I ask you pass this ordinance.

  57. AKaurora says:

Matthew Shepard Act passed Congress today.

  58. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

this gal is really putting it out there – suggesting “projection” – mentioning that the hate speech is a smokescreen for them committing what they’re preaching against

she needs someone to walk her to the car, too

  59. akmuckraker says:

Good evening brothers and sisters. She’s a Christian.

Upset by all the hate speech.

Talking about the murder of SF mayor & Milk.

Catholic archdiosis atrocities. They’ve had to pay. The people who speak the hate are the one doing the atrocities. Equating pedophilia with sexual orientation needs to stop.

  60. strangelet says:

Okay, let up on the pedophilia, it makes you sound nuts.

  61. AKaurora says:

Former Anch GBLT, now from San Fran, referenced Milk and mayor murders. Hate speech must stop.

  62. califpat says:

    Yea!!

  63. WakeUpAmerica says:

I think the council is pissed off about all the red preaching. Blah, blah, blah. Same hateful stuff over and over in the name of Jesus. Sanctimonious pricks.

  64. califpat says:

There are consequences when anyone takes anothers rights away lady. Remember, shut up and sit down. You should be ashamed of yourself!!

  65. zrgmom says:

Gay community in Oakland has really increased our vibrancy and financial strength through a greater diversity of visitors and businesses.

  66. akmuckraker says:

    Choices. Consequences. Against the ordinance.

She married someone “not in her race”. (That used to be illegal, you know)

Doesn’t want to “catch up” to the Lower 48 because they have billboards and we don’t.

Hasty decision…bla bla. “Acting mayor” meme. Let the people vote.

  67. strangelet says:

It has made them better places, you moron.

  68. GreatGrey says:

Lexky, thx. Prevo looks perturbed wonder if he will pose for a pic?

  69. WakeUpAmerica says:

uh stranglet, I suspect our problems in California aren’t that simple. Definitely the housing crash put us in the toilet. Property tax props up this state.

  70. strangelet says:

    Choices return.

  71. califpat says:

    Please take her away.

  72. strangelet says:

Hey, lady, the financial problems in Cali are due to Prop 13, not to equal rights for everyone.

  73. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

oh gawd, re california “If bankruptcy isn’t a smite, I don’t know what is”

    geez

  74. akmuckraker says:

She met Jesus in 1985. At stake is the financial situation of the community. Cost to businesses. Ugh.

If bankruptcy isn’t “a smite” she doesn’t know what is. (talking about California)

Divisiveness in the community “hasn’t been an issue.” Groan.

  75. WakeUpAmerica says:

Oh crap! I’m smited. Who knew?

  76. califpat says:

Another elderly gentleman, who wants the discrimination to stop. He says vote yes on the Ordinance. Yea!!

  77. AKaurora says:

Opponents’ arguments same as in the past with race, women, ethnic groups, etc. This ordinance is needed now, just as then.

  78. lexky says:

    greatgrey
    you are amazing
i dont know how you have been able to sit through most of this (atleast there were some great blues tonight) but i give you a salute.

  79. califpat says:

    Hugs to Brittany Mudflatter.Yea!!

  80. bucfan says:

You go old man, you go

  81. strangelet says:

Notice how all the supporters say “I am a resident of Anchorage”?

  82. akmuckraker says:

Birch and Starr vote not to extend. Others vote to continue to finish the list. Wow. We’re seeing the end of this.

  83. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

    good point bucfan

  84. califpat says:

Finally, some voices of reasons. You go girl!! The hatred is alive and well!! She is awesome!! Vote Yes! Yea!!

  85. strangelet says:

    Super

  86. AKaurora says:

Another great young lady! Good summary of many nights of testimony.

  87. bucfan says:

Someone needs to walk this young lady to her car.

  88. strangelet says:

And even Wasilla and Palmer. /sarcasm

  89. lexky says:

    go mudflatters

  90. strangelet says:

    Kill.

  91. akmuckraker says:

    Brittany! Mudflatter!

  92. GreatGrey says:

Squirming in the prevo corner when she mentioned religious leaders exercising political power.

  93. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

bless her heart – she terrified but going through with what she has to say. time for assembly to take a stand and protect ALL the citizens

her voice shaking badly. what a honey.

  94. akmuckraker says:

She sounds scared, but she’s doing great. Listened to all the testimony before she signed up. Time to take a stand and protect all the people of the city. Rights are not tokens. We depend on elected officials. We depend on you to do what is just.

  95. bucfan says:

My faith in our younger generation is being strengthened by the young lady who just testifed and some of those before her.

  96. califpat says:

Another young girl with an open mind, compassion and tolerance. You go young lady!! You seem more informed than some of your elders. Never change!!

  97. AKaurora says:

Young lady compelled to speak for those who have been intimidated. She’s prepared, nervous but pushing to passage.

  98. lexky says:

    she is awesome

  99. strangelet says:

To listen to these “hours of crap”. O, he didn’t.

  100. califpat says:

You are right that discrimination has been proven, right in that room tonight. Take it to them!! Same old dead arguments again that has no relevancy.

  101. AKaurora says:

Christianity survived interracial marriage, it will survive gay rights too.

  102. strangelet says:

    This guy is goooood.

  103. ds55 says:

LOL! “California has not been smited.”

  104. strangelet says:

A “red halibut”. I’ll drink to that (not surprisingly).

  105. akmuckraker says:

Socialworker, heterosexual in support of most expansive version possible. Sounds like he’s seen it all.

  106. ds55 says:

    Social workers rock!

  107. strangelet says:

BTW, while I am not religious, UU are as good as religion gets.

  108. GreatGrey says:

    Did Prevo ever testify?

  109. califpat says:

    Chris was absolutely wonderful.

  110. strangelet says:

Are they actually going to FINISH?

  111. AKaurora says:

One page to go, request 15 min extension to finish.

  112. akmuckraker says:

Great Grey – He did great. I loved his point about not banning Christianity because of priests who do bad.

  113. strangelet says:

Lady, you’re a good person, but you wasted your 3 minutes.

  114. califpat says:

Good point. Deviants come in all forms.

  115. ds55 says:

    Go, Cassandra! You tell ’em!

  116. GreatGrey says:

Mudflats, I just showed ur post to c
Chris. He’s so nervous, I told him he did fine.

  117. strangelet says:

    Get on with it.

  118. califpat says:

Waving frantically at Chris. You go Chris!

  119. strangelet says:

“Mr Smith” is a pup? Yay.

  120. califpat says:

Another Blue? The mike is blah!!

  121. strangelet says:

This guy is “Mr Smith” goes to the Assembly. Yay

  122. AKaurora says:

White male hasn’t personally experienced discrimination, but wants children to grow up in a community that protects all people’s rights.

  123. akmuckraker says:

He’s a Mudflatter! (waves to Chris)

  124. califpat says:

Supports equal rights for all and wants a “Yes” vote. Good for you!!!

  125. ds55 says:

    Christopher needs to focus.

  126. akmuckraker says:

Reading the mission statement of the local UU church. Good for her. Applauds assembly for introducing this ordinance.

  127. ds55 says:

U.U. a church with ethics. Hear that, Palin?

  128. GreatGrey says:

AUUF drewca murmur from the reddies.

  129. akmuckraker says:

Married 56 years. She and her husband are for equal rights.

Kalen Saxton! Yay! She’ll be good.

  130. strangelet says:

Love your opinion, but stop swallowing the mike.

  131. AKaurora says:

Carolyn (my neighborhood) very heartfelt, fought for women’s equal rights, supports gay rights too.

  132. Canadian Neighbour says:

Did Prevo not have money to pay their gas bills for the buses tonight??

  133. califpat says:

Straight and to the point but well said. There seem to be more blue shirts tonight. Yea!!

  134. akmuckraker says:

I refuse to lie about who I am. I am not sick, depraved or shameful. I am moral and hardworking and deserves to be treated with respect. Could be fired by being gay.

He’s got his speech on his phone. The highest tech yet!

  135. strangelet says:

Well, I like this guy, but “the highest drowning rate in the country”? Not a terrific point.

  136. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

did anyone get her name? She was tremendous, awesome and just all round wonderful

  137. califpat says:

That was absolutely lucid, articulate and well said!! Yea!!

  138. Wolf Pack says:

Lady claims wild sex going on at the morgue.

  139. strangelet says:

@justafarmer : didn’t you realize that the ordinance will require sex with corpses?

  140. GreatGrey says:

Effing A, it’s nice to hear some rational people.

  141. akmuckraker says:

Yay! This lady is great. Actually mentioned there are jews and muslims in Anchorage. Thank you! Heterosexual, apologizing to LBGT community for all they’ve had to endure.

Discrimination should not be acceptable. Applause!

  142. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

does NOT want to live in a theocracy! (pretty vehement, too)

says judge ’em on actions at work. apologizing to gays for what they ‘ve had to sit thru

differs as to the judgement everyone will recieve eventually

  143. bentalaska says:

“I do not want to live in a theocrary”- right on!

  144. AKaurora says:

Go Susan Windrow from ASD! Speaks to hate in schools, stereotypes. Does not want to live in a theocracy. Judge a person on actions at work. We will all be judged on how we love, not who we love.

  145. strangelet says:

Jeez. What a logical position. She’ll be ignored.

  146. califpat says:

Ilike this sensitive lady. She does not want to live in a theocracy!! You go girl! Tell them like it is!!

  147. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

Well, here’s a teacher who may be looking for a job, too. I’d LOVE to have had this one teach my kids

  148. justafarmer says:

    sex with a corpse???????????
    eeeeeewww
sorry, I’m supposed to be shutting the computer down…
    pay no attention…

  149. strangelet says:

    Nite, justa

  150. akmuckraker says:

False sense of security about deviant practices. Compares “this issue” to food safety?

Will make incest and bestiality, oxygen deprivation, strangulation, sexual arousal from feces, having sex with a corpse.

Thank God they cut her off!

    O.M.G.

  151. zrgmom says:

Yay legalize necrophilia? What YEAR psychiatric association? 1913?

  152. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

what the heck psychiatric society is she referring to? Sex with a WHAT?

These people have their minds in the gutter – on a good day

  153. califpat says:

Bestiality? WTF? She needs a psychiatrist. Yea! Cut the mike on this crazy!!

  154. strangelet says:

“These people”. Hmm, that pretty well characterizes you.

Oh, this lady is lying through her teeth.

I don’t think the APA actually says these things.

    STFU.

  155. justafarmer says:

ok, i mean it now! I am off to sleep!
feel free to poop while I’m gone.
But watch out for those public bathrooms.

  156. bucfan says:

Nan, If I had a business I would hire her.

  157. ds55 says:

What is this list she’s reading from?

  158. akgrrl says:

    “Having sex with a corpse”

  159. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

oh ewwww. This woman is NUTS

  160. GreatGrey says:

    Necrophilia?

  161. pearl89 says:

Make the floor open up and swallow this lady.

  162. justafarmer says:

    ok, I found GreatGrey’s poop….

  163. Fern says:

The only conclusion I can come to after this display is that participative democracy may be over-rated.

You lot have strong stomachs – don’t think I could have sat and listened.

  164. califpat says:

That was a brave young girl who risked her job by speaking up for the Ordinance. I applaud you young lady for your brevity.

  165. ds55 says:

She is suggesting gays carry germs? “These people”? She needs to stfu.

  166. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

the young lady is “at risk of losing her job because of testifying here tonight”

dang. Anybody need a new employee?

  167. strangelet says:

    @justafarmer: skunk? Owww.

  168. strangelet says:

Darn, her heart is in the right place, but I wish she was a little more concise.

  169. justafarmer says:

I missed GreatGrey saying poop? I’m REALLY bummed now…

  170. califpat says:

GreatGrey:As bucfan says, you are definitely in trouble/ OOOO

  171. Wolf Pack says:

What happened to sepration of church and state? Why is Biblical scripture being read into the record?

  172. justafarmer says:

send positive thoughts to me as I try to go to sleep with skunk smell in the house …. eeeeeewwwww……

  173. akgrrl says:

Califpat, not all m2f crossdressers, transgenders and transsexuals are interested in men. Some are lesbians as well.

  174. califpat says:

    You go, young lady!!

  175. bucfan says:

Greatgrey, and you said poop too. You are really in trouble now

  176. strangelet says:

    Go get em

  177. ds55 says:

Good point, religion is a choice and is protected.

  178. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

gawd, was afk – glad I missed the bathrooms…
gal in blue shirt, dunno if for or against.

ROFL – mentions the men who have had advances made, compares ’em to the THOUSANDS of women who have rec’d unwanted advances (or worse)

  179. pearl89 says:

Is it a big problem in AK with men walking into women’s bathrooms? Should we conduct a fundraiser to buy locks?

Since I’ve spent a lot of time in my youth in bars, I have no problem with men going to a women’s restroom…when you gotta go, you gotta go.

  180. AKaurora says:

Lovely lady that totally trusts her lesbian friends and would trust her kids with them (if she and her husband had any). They plan to remain childless, so they’re already upsetting the procreation plan. heh, heh

  181. califpat says:

If the man is gay, and in a women’s bathroom, dressed in women clothing, then why are the women afraid? He’s gay remember and does not want a female. They are so contradictary.

  182. GreatGrey says:

    Oh poop, I laughed

  183. strangelet says:

Happily, I have Jim Beam, so I can salute the bathroom reference.

  184. Wolf Pack says:

Save the children, protect them and the bathrooms.

  185. lexky says:

    yesssssssssss
    bathrooms

  186. AKaurora says:

Red has trouble w/public speaking. Darn, was going to mention the frogs too. Take the restrooms into consideration.

  187. ds55 says:

His mind is wandering…. long pauses. Bathrooms again! WTH?

  188. akgrrl says:

The sex change process takes a year, not a week …

  189. bucfan says:

Is this guy on Valium? YAY Bathrooms.

  190. califpat says:

Why does he look so familiar?

  191. GreatGrey says:

Kevin, I know where he works, I’m gonna shop elsewhere, take that xtian.

  192. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

if this is the Christian brand the school espouses, nobody I know, strangelet – gay or straight

  193. bucfan says:

Have you noticed the supporters are keeping it short after Ossiander asked, while the reds are blathering on as usual

  194. califpat says:

justafarmer: I dont understand the over the top fear and hatred either concerning LGTB’s. It’s just so insane. And we all have one nut in the family. LOL!!

  195. justafarmer says:

    gonna drench him in vinegar.

  196. Wolf Pack says:

Lady afraid teachers will get sex changes and it will confuse the children and then they will not know what life choices to make.

  197. ds55 says:

    30 minutes left?

  198. justafarmer says:

crap…dog just came in and apparently had an encounter with a skunk.
    See everyone tomorrow!

  199. strangelet says:

    Oh, “choices”.

    Yes you do hate gays.

Homosexuality is wrong in the eyes of God.

What homosexual would want a job at a Christian school?

  200. akmuckraker says:

    Life is all about choices.

Drugs are a choice. Tattoos are a choice. Gay is a choice.

She was discriminated against because of her tattoo. It was her choice.

Will insurance go up because people want to have sex change operations?

  201. bentalaska says:

califpat – there have been African Americans testifying on both sides, and Tiffany testified earlier tonight in favor.

  202. ds55 says:

Traumatized by the loss of her child, ‘special rights’ based on individual choices, born-again believer… Next!

  203. califpat says:

Another Red who thinks homosexuality is a choice and says it with conviction

  204. AKaurora says:

Life is all about choices, says young woman. Had to keep tattoo covered at work, so…..?

  205. justafarmer says:

    @califpat..I don’t get it either.
My family is blended in multiple ways. Lots of steps, but white, black, native, hispanic. Most Christian (Catholic and Lutheran) and a few Wiccan. We NEVER had this about LGTB (one of my uncles was in that category).
I just don’t get it (the over the top fear and hate).

  206. pearl89 says:

    Homosexuality is not a choice.

  207. ds55 says:

Hey kid, tell your Dad sometimes ppl don’t get hired because they’re a-holes, not because they’re not female or a minority.

  208. strangelet says:

Look, you little shit, I am a white American male and I’ve been out of regular work for nine years. Because I’m old.

  209. GreatGrey says:

Califlpat, bigot in the making, but he had a cute butt.

  210. akmuckraker says:

Preschool teacher told this kid he could marry a boy. His parents took him out of the school.

Wonder if anyone followed him in to the bathroom too…

  211. bucfan says:

I think this kid is a self denier

  212. lexky says:

    wait
    that could be my nieghbor

  213. ds55 says:

Oh, this kid’s Dad is one of those ‘angry white men’. Too bad.

  214. califpat says:

Oh! A bigot in the making!

  215. lexky says:

he gets the prize for best redneck wardrobe

  216. strangelet says:

    That was quick.

  217. AKaurora says:

Eric to the point: community youth support gay rights. Pass it now.

  218. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

    who laughed?!

  219. akmuckraker says:

18 year old. She’s great. Brought up tax-exempt status of ABT. You go girl.

Basic human rights. Not special rights.

  220. GreatGrey says:

Can’t laugh, no smiling on ur drivers license either.

  221. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

mentions the “special rights” of the various religions that have twistd this debate! (quotes 1st amendment)

  222. strangelet says:

Wow. This is an 18-year old? Kill.

  223. califpat says:

Justafarmer: I have seen a few Blacks and they all have been against the Ordinance. I have no idea how they can be intolerant when our people have been through similar situations and they should be more tolerant and understanding. I dont know what philosophy of life they have been taught but where I come from, we are seriously tolerant and understand prejudices and bigotry is wrong to any segment of society.

  224. AKaurora says:

Young lady supports ordinance, just graduated, well spoken. Going for the tax status of churches. Go girl!

  225. strangelet says:

    Yay, Kelli.

  226. lexky says:

    akm
    yes on those frog legs
    good eatin

  227. akmuckraker says:

“Whoever’s cookin the frog, I want the legs.”

Sneaky lt. blue shirt is against the ordinance because “he’s against it.” He just is. He doesn’t know why. At least he was brief.

  228. justafarmer says:

thanks AKM, my ears were just stopping bleeding…sounds like the flow would start again

  229. strangelet says:

    Sisyphus?

  230. zrgmom says:

Tonight I went to a City Council meeting in Oakland CA, and I have one recommendation from our infamous city in our hapless state. At our sometimes wild, sometimes confusing, and frequently dull meetings, they limit the speakers to one minute or sometimes 90 seconds. Often we rabble-rousers feel oppressed by this. But I think it would be a fine idea for the Anchorage Assembly to whack the time allotment. You’d be done by now!

By the way, proud to say our most recent city council member is the honorable Rebecca Kaplan, out and proud about it. Elected citywide for the at-large seat.

  231. AKaurora says:

Sidney, “Whoever’s cooking those frogs, I want the legs!” Against.

  232. GreatGrey says:

Just showed everyones 32nd anniversarry congrats to the two ladies, they got a good giggle, and they pass back their thanks.

  233. lexky says:

i still dont know if anchorage is as bad as the small town i come from in ky.
the african americans live on one side of the town and the whites on the other.

  234. Wolf Pack says:

Red Shirter doesn’t believe in freedom of Religion. He wants everyone to follow his only and absolute God.

  235. justafarmer says:

@bucfan…Sanford is comparing himself to King David or somebody in the OT. He has his ass covered with scripture

  236. strangelet says:

Do you suppose this guy realizes that there are people who do not believe in his scripture?

  237. akmuckraker says:

justafarmer – you’re not missing anything. Bible quotes. More Bible quotes. More Bible quotes.

  238. AKaurora says:

Wish these reds would just highlight all their Bible verses in one book, and pass it on to the assembly.

  239. bentalaska says:

I see “dark clouds on the horizon” – wait, wasn’t that from the hilarious No on 8 video?

  240. bucfan says:

Is this Sarah Palins dad with her book of quotes?

  241. justafarmer says:

maybe God is telling to plow through the bedroom door and go to bed….almost 2:15 am here. Probably a good idea

  242. califpat says:

This one is quoting scriptures! Where is the connection, Sir??!

  243. bucfan says:

Hey, I already went to church this week.

  244. lexky says:

i so enjoy are time together on the mudflats

  245. ds55 says:

Nooo! Stop reading Bible passages! Grrr!

  246. bucfan says:

Justafarmer, hey, adultry is still against the law in South Carolina. Why isn’t Mark Sanford in cuffs?

  247. strangelet says:

    Sodom and Gommorah strike again.

  248. justafarmer says:

    lost my audio completely

  249. Wolf Pack says:

Guy wants ordinance to be tabled so they can work on more important issues, like how he can made more money.

  250. justafarmer says:

califpat, there have been a lot of redshirt black Prevo people testifying against this ordinance and it just stunned me (and continues to stun)

  251. califpat says:

    The mike really sucks!

  252. GreatGrey says:

Bucfan, I’m right in front of the two, 4 of their kids with em.

  253. AKaurora says:

Floyd, I remember him from UAF. Business talk, vote no or table.

  254. akmuckraker says:

This guy is totally off point. Talking about other city matters. Using his 3 minutes in front of the Assembly for his own agenda. Give him the hook!

  255. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

did they show his wife? (in 1973, I knew someone who got out of an “inconvenient” marriage thru the race laws – south carolina)

price of a barrel of oil:? dunno what that has to do with anything..

  256. ds55 says:

Uh-oh, a businessman. Gays will interfere with business opportunities??

  257. strangelet says:

Is this guy saying that an equal-rights ordinance will deteriorate business in Anchorage? Or is he simply incoherent?

  258. justafarmer says:

“I urge to not vote no on this”?

  259. pearl89 says:

All the red shirts could have written out a statement and signed it and spared the board and the rest of us from their endless preaching.

I had a friend who became a born again fundamentalist christian. The way he explained some of the mean and hateful things that he would do was that he was saved. He could do anything he wanted but as long as he confessed and he was saved he was automatically forgiven. But that I, as a nonchristian no matter how good a life I led was going to go to Hades.

  260. califpat says:

Justafarmer: Not all blacks are against this ordinance. I’m not!

  261. justafarmer says:

oh, he’s married to a beautiful women…within my lifetime it was against the law for a black and white to marry in Kentucky

  262. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

strangelet – Because they’re not going by the new testament (the one with Jesus in it) but the old testament, where they’re still waiting for jesus)

  263. akmuckraker says:

And here’s her husband. Disrupts God’s plan for procreation.

Yeah…because what the world needs is MORE people!

More Bible reading. From NJ. An alcoholic, drug abusing womanizer. He was “messed up” but his wife saved him. Deacon of his church.

God was the only thing that worked for him. Turn away from sin and the enemy will flee.

  264. califpat says:

New Jersey was messed up. He is good man because, Why??

  265. justafarmer says:

It’s just nonsensical to me for black people to be against this
    It’s just nuts

  266. AKaurora says:

Red shirt, on no, will mess up procreation. As if we need to speed up the world’s population more!

  267. bucfan says:

Greatgrey, sitting next to the two gay ladies? I am wondering as people speak and the redshirters realize who is gay or backing the ordinance, do they move away from them?

  268. Wolf Pack says:

Families will be confused. Lady is on a mission to prevent all sins as spelled out in her Bible (except hatred).

  269. lexky says:

it always bothers me to see african americans against gay people.

  270. strangelet says:

Ah, Leviticus again. How can these people not remember the part where Jesus says “Love one another”?

  271. GreatGrey says:

I cannot fathom a black person against this ordinance.

  272. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

    (((( bucfan )))) you rock!

we got the unbelievers … soemthing..

fruitful and multiply, replenish the earth (it’s replenished already). If we don’t tell ’em they’re sinning, their blood is on our hands (????)

  273. justafarmer says:

wow, more redsirts who got their human rights through a Constitutional amendment but don’t want to share them with anyone else after them

  274. akmuckraker says:

Her job to reach the souls of the lost world. Hates the sin. God created male and female to be fruitful and multiply. Abomination. Put to death. Blood upon them. If we don’t tell gays they are sinning, their blood will be on our hands before God. Lifestyle choice. Ordinance will cause confusion.

    CUT THE MIC!

  275. califpat says:

Not everybody believe what you believe in lady!! And God created homosexuals and heterosexuals, thank you very much!!

  276. justafarmer says:

    woohoo! congrats on their anniversary!

  277. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

32nd anniversary! (the last lady that spoke)

  278. bucfan says:

Thirty two years together? Another one of those short lived gay relationships

  279. GreatGrey says:

Sitting by those last two gay ladies, I chose a good spot

  280. strangelet says:

Damn. This woman is entirely too sensible.

  281. justafarmer says:

I see that Wolf Pack…looks like some creepy reflection in the glass door/window

  282. califpat says:

I like that! Your hetero is showing! I like this intelligent tolerant woman. Thanks for the vote of Yes. Yea!!

  283. justafarmer says:

ooh…patting themselves on the back for being nice to a gay person…

  284. Wolf Pack says:

Abominable gay snowman spotted in back, slightly to the right of speaker’s head.

  285. justafarmer says:

AKaurora, most of us here are listening via livestreaming in the intertubes

  286. akmuckraker says:

Cruel and unusual punishment to have to listen to the red shirts. You said it sister.

  287. lexky says:

    shes good

  288. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

this gal “has been verbally assaulted” for the last few weeks, sitting and listening to the red shirts…

    separation of church and state

  289. califpat says:

    Huh!!

  290. AKaurora says:

I’m watching on TV Ch 10, and mike is OK for me.

  291. seattlefan says:

I have to jump in here…from what you all are saying this woman sounds crazy! Can someone tell me how much longer this “testimony” will be allowed and when the actual vote will take place? All of this seems so useless and a waste of time for the Assembly. Is anyone complaining about all the wasted time and dollars listening to these people?

Also, were the “red shirts” bussed in tonight?

I can’t wait to hear the details and hopefully some answers.

  292. justafarmer says:

now this woman is good…if I spent my life celibate I’d still be a lesbian

  293. lexky says:

im an elitist and a socialist

  294. Wolf Pack says:

Hey is that Casper the ghost in the back, slightly right of the exit sign?

  295. califpat says:

They really ned to do somethng about that mike. God must talking to her about what He/She condones. She cannot condone the homosexual lifestyle.

  296. justafarmer says:

    lol GreatGrey!

  297. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

    lol justafarmer

  298. bucfan says:

Yes, the majority of people have been against the ordinance because you are not people, but Sheeple, BAAAAAAAAAA!

  299. justafarmer says:

well, this woman got her rights through a special constitutional amendment. screw everyone else

  300. GreatGrey says:

Justafarmer, he not elitist, he’s a socialist. 🙂

  301. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

refusing to discriminate against someone does nothing to anyone’s practice of their respective religion!

  302. bucfan says:

Ludicrous? My son loves his music

  303. strangelet says:

I may have to try to get the live feed. It sounds like the red-shirt brigade have gone into hyperspace.

  304. justafarmer says:

    ding ding ding!
    bathrooms!
    every take a drink…

  305. lexky says:

    justafarmer
    we are all elitist apparently

  306. bucfan says:

Way to go red headed kid. I didn’t catch your name.

  307. jojobo1 says:

She did it for Alaska is a bunch of moose pucky and you would think people would not be that gullible.AKauora thanks for the link to that Kennedy speech I wasn’t quite 18 when he was shot but I remember the hate speeches because he was catholic. and could not understand what his religion had to do with anything. My mom was catholic and my Dad lutheran,That speech said it all and IMO turned the tide in his favor.
I will never understand how the red shirts can claim to be christians yet spew such hate for their fellow men and women.Any news article you read people claim they are born again christians or some such and yet have adulterous affairs and will not hold a helping hand to anyone else

  308. califpat says:

Hope those Reds can hear what this intelligent young man is saying. Another Yes!

  309. justafarmer says:

my post at 517 was just a snark at the righties

  310. lexky says:

    yes bathrooms………

  311. akmuckraker says:

Spraypainted hair guy. Gay community will have equality eventually.

Suicide of gay boy because parents called him sick.

Another suicide. Hanging after school bullying.

    Bullying at school.

Predators come from all groups. Not just gay.

  312. justafarmer says:

elitist…he has a laptop instead of papers!

  313. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

Yes, woman – it IS craziness! What is WRONG with these folks?!

Each person is a citizen – entitled to “inalienable rights” – all of ’em. geez.

  314. justafarmer says:

and she said she was smarter or better educated than most people. YOW!

  315. califpat says:

She actually thinks that everyone has a Bible in their home. That’s how small minded she is, as if there are no other religions. Homosexuality is a Federal crime. Wow!!

  316. ALCAN says:

They seemd to repeatedly forget…. GOD created homosexuals. They weren’t born in test tubes!! Crazy woman! Oh, another Prevo fan. What is he so afaid of? Might he lose control of his flock should homosexuals have equal rights?

  317. WakeUpAmerica says:

Quite a few well-educated ignorance abounding here.

  318. bucfan says:

The Assembly are Rulers? This woman went to law school? Sodomy is against the law? Well hey lady, in South Carolina, adultry is against the law, but noone has arrested the governor.

  319. lexky says:

lay off the blonde hair color, its effecting your brain

  320. akmuckraker says:

    A Christian in yellow?

We’re all going to die. Holding a Bible. She’s one of the most educated women she knows.

This is a BIBLE and it has much to say to you. Speaks to degradation of this country. You can all find one. We don’t accept pedophilia, but we do accept homosexuality and according to the Bible that’s as low as you get. God chose time and place for you rulers to decide this case.

When she was young sodomy was a crime. It’s crazy to tell Prevo’s church they are suddenly wrong.

Do these people realize that this actually isn’t a theocracy?

  321. Wolf Pack says:

Red shirter. We’re all going to die. She claims to be most educated, a lawyer. But says the Bible is the absolute authority. The bottom of the barrael is homosexuality. According to Bible (she says), homos are the lowest of the low.

  322. justafarmer says:

hey lady, I ain’t guilty of NOTHING!!!!

  323. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

no false modesty for this one, eh?

    she violated what code?

sez “this is a bible” sigh. Speaks to rulers, and the degradation of country… bottom of the barrel – really is homosexuality (if she’s all that well educated, she shoulda been better prepared)

  324. lexky says:

    bottom of the barrell
it looks like she might know something about that.

  325. justafarmer says:

this women is completely nuts. And she’s a lawyer???

  326. strangelet says:

This should be unnecessary, but is there a way in which the proposed ordinance could be submitted as a proposition? At least, such an approach would negate the killas from Wasilla.

  327. GreatGrey says:

Lady dropped her little bible pen, apocolysp in 3..2..1

  328. ALCAN says:

Oh, please……. “most educated woman she knows”…… another red.

  329. AKaurora says:

Marie, christian community, 53, law degree, assembly is responsible to Bible!

  330. justafarmer says:

did this last guy say catamount three or more times? My audoi is not real great tonight

  331. bucfan says:

Did she just threaten the assembly?

  332. califpat says:

This one is definitely lying. What has passing a law to give gays the same rights have to do with increasing child abuse? This man is insane! Not for everyone Mr. Intolerance!

  333. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

ennealogic – I’m blaming the first bathroom story on your saying “yay for none showing up”

  334. Wolf Pack says:

Vet thinks ordinance will lead to more chid and wife abuse. Like a duck to water. God is our parent….. Next!

  335. GreatGrey says:

Who the heck is recruiting, the gays or Prevo?

  336. justafarmer says:

perversionist? is that a real word?

  337. akmuckraker says:

    bucfan – ROFL!

  338. lexky says:

this ordinance will make spouse and child abuse get worse!!!!!!!!!!
    what the???

  339. bucfan says:

This guy is a fellow veteran? Oh, please shut up.l

  340. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

medivac pilot in nam and desert storm.

interviewed 5 cops – 100% do not let sexual orientation words be entered into your community (huh?)

arrests went up, convictions went down. (again, huh?) Oh, will increase child and woman abuse (his words)

  341. justafarmer says:

    ah a red vet

  342. GreatGrey says:

A kid coming up, hair is sprayed red, he’s with the law prof. Should be good if he’s not too nervous. Wearing one of the “I think” shirts.

  343. Ennealogic says:

We’ve been lucky so far tonight, no bathroom stories!

I love how the red shirts say, “How dare you…blah blah” when talking to the Assembly.

I bet the Assembly just love that too.

Anyway, counting myself lucky for missing horrid stories of young girls bumping into men in dresses in the ladies room, and not wishing to press said luck, goodnight. Thanks for watching and writing, I’ll look forward to reading the rest tomorrow.

  344. justafarmer says:

bucfan, I’m not adverse to a toga party. I might just do that for the Screendoor party this weekend!

  345. strangelet says:

@475 Nan — Mmm. Thanks. Didn’t know that.

  346. lexky says:

    ohhhh props

  347. califpat says:

This red says the Ordinance has a covert agenda. What might that be lady? She is rushing and out of breath like Buttercup was at resignation.

  348. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

28 yr army vet – been discrim against – she had to put up with it… (why) sigh.

  349. justafarmer says:

    this woman is insane

  350. bucfan says:

Justafarmer, well, she did bring up Rome. So what the hey. Although the redshirters might accuse me of wearing a dress.

  351. lexky says:

gays are trying to destroy our sacred marriages

  352. justafarmer says:

Marilyn has just a teeny litle bit of red showing in her buosum area.

  353. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

oh geez – now the “lower 48” are the lost… soup kitchens – huh?

  354. akmuckraker says:

Nothing to do with civil rights. All to do with sexual behavior. Talking too fast. Can’t understand her, and that’s OK with me.

  355. Wolf Pack says:

I came, I saw, I conquered has a while new meaning. And perhaps we should reverse that phrase.

  356. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

strangelet – also tanning of hides with mercury (wine casks out of leather)

  357. bucfan says:

Okay, I have held out long enough. It’s Jack Daniels time. The bourbon that is. Otherwise that might sound gay. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Unless you are wearing a red shirt

  358. GreatGrey says:

Covert agenda, good thing them boiling frogs are croaking to warn us.

  359. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

omgawd – I heard the uh squeak!

  360. AKaurora says:

Covert agenda, oh, the frog in hot water again!

  361. justafarmer says:

bucfan, do we have to have a toga party now?

  362. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

547 diff kinds of deviancy? Who is counting?! geez

  363. strangelet says:

Fall of Rome occurred (maybe) because of all the lead they used in their water supply system. Cognitive deterioration.

  364. califpat says:

Another red philosopher. And a history lesson on violence and morals. Is she saying that the Roman Empire failes because of gays? I dont get the connection. Oh, she is saying that deviant acts fell it. Sheesh! Cut the mike!

  365. akmuckraker says:

Incest, necrophelia, pedophilia, zoophilia… Is THIS where you want to take us??

Ossiander called “Chief Chasing Horse”. That ought to be interesting.

  366. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

rome – decline of morals – pedophelia (from homo coming from the aristocrats)

now CDC… 13-24 yr old males greatest increase in aids

  367. bucfan says:

TOGA! TOGA! TOGA! Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life.

  368. Wolf Pack says:

Rome fell because of gays. Nero was fiddling with little boys.

  369. lexky says:

    ohh the gays destroyed rome.
    now i get it

  370. justafarmer says:

    Roman lesson plans…

  371. strangelet says:

@justafarmer — Yup. I’m possibly over-tolerant of almost anything, but you’re not allowed to expose random co-workers to your personal excesses.

  372. akmuckraker says:

Oooo. Ancient Rome as a cautionary tale. Homosexual rape of young male Roman citizens. Researched the “Roman lifestyle.” Fall of Rome was decline of morals and values. Violent society. Pedophilia had progressed from homosexuality.

The gays caused the fall of Rome!

    More wine!

  373. lexky says:

    we are not in rome

  374. ds55 says:

The Roman lifestyle has what to do with the ordinance??

  375. bucfan says:

    Roman Law? WTF?

  376. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

I KNEW she was going to bring in Caligula!

  377. justafarmer says:

    she’s talking palinese

  378. GreatGrey says:

    Ancient Rome? Beware the barbarians!

  379. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

He’s a *brother* – in the genes to pick on a sister, fer pete’s sake. A stinker for putting sis where she said she doesn’t wanna be, but he isn’t representative of anyone

  380. akmuckraker says:

What is this lady talking about? I’m totally confused. These people will shove and push and push. Didn’t want to go to a gay bar but someone made her. Dust flying when trucks go by. Can the assembly look in to that? WHA…?

  381. strangelet says:

@437 AKM — That is a great, great testimony.

  382. califpat says:

Yikes!! This one has nothing red in her closet. Just red irrational thoughts. I hate that mike.

  383. ds55 says:

Oh please, lady.. make your point and sit down. Babble, babble, babble…

  384. bucfan says:

I am having a real problem with the people speaking in support of the ordinance. Muddling it all up with facts and well thought out testimony. I want more Three’s Company

  385. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

It’s not the country I grew up in anymore (no kidding, toots!)

  386. justafarmer says:

    natural law…hmmmm

  387. AKaurora says:

Oh dear, she doesn’t have any red to wear! Whata ditz! Brother was gay and selfish. RUn on……….

  388. justafarmer says:

    lol, lexky!

  389. GreatGrey says:

Wiggles her butt while saying she doesn’t have a red shirt, oh my.

  390. justafarmer says:

strangelet, objectification in the workplace is exactly my feeling as well.

  391. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

I like this guy’s sis in law! “It has to do with fundamental decency. If you don’t even have that for a fellow human being..” (soemthing like that)

  392. lexky says:

    go big blue
    from me and justafarmer

  393. bucfan says:

    Way to go Tim.

  394. akmuckraker says:

He’s gay and won’t apologize. Nothing is wrong with it. Research is clear. Neither an illness or a moral depravity. Discussed with relatives in deep south. They said this is about fundamental decency to one another.

  395. califpat says:

    @justafarmer: Ditto!!!

  396. strangelet says:

I’ve been off the computer, so I have to just catch up from here.

Personal opinion: I kinda like the Snap-On Tools calendars. (Hey, I’m an OWG). I also think that they represent objectification and don’t belong in the workplace. If you don’t like inconsistency, sue me.

  397. califpat says:

    I just love blue.

  398. justafarmer says:

let me take this moment to say how much I Iove all my fellow mudpuppies!
I can’t think of this sort of thing ever happening before

  399. Ennealogic says:

    err mic*

  400. califpat says:

    Applause to you Don!

  401. GreatGrey says:

    Jim!!!

  402. Ennealogic says:

They can’t kiss the mike… they need to keep about 6-8 inches away.

  403. califpat says:

or maybe if’s just my computer.

  404. justafarmer says:

yes califpat, the audio is bad sometimes

  405. bucfan says:

Two in a row. Wow. GO guys go.

  406. justafarmer says:

    go Don!!!!! He is great!

  407. califpat says:

    The mike sucks!

  408. lexky says:

the blues are good and prepared

  409. akmuckraker says:

Another blue. Could have used a couple of these last time! He’s good too.

  410. AKaurora says:

Don, sm-bus owner, blue shirt, wants to minimize intolerance. Won’t change peoples’ thoughts, but can prevent their actions.

  411. justafarmer says:

    ((((((((APPLAUSE))))

  412. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

bless her. I wish there were some of the redshirts hearing this. She was kicka$$

  413. GreatGrey says:

Notice how the blues have timed their remarks in advance? I love smart prepared people.

  414. califpat says:

Thank you for the yes. You Rock!!!

  415. justafarmer says:

wow!!! showing pictures of kids killed

  416. akmuckraker says:

Heterosexual in support! Simply the right thing to do. Yay!

“The only agenda that’s been pushed is not a gay one.”

Picture of 8th grader murdered for being gay. Mathhew Shepherd pic. Wow.

Your vote could save the lives of children in our community. Future generations look back and be ashamed of how the gay community were treated, just like the civil rights movement. She will tell her kids she fought on the side of equality.

    Wow. She’s great.

  417. bucfan says:

I can’t comment. This lady is great

  418. ds55 says:

    LOL @ akgrrl

  419. AKaurora says:

Chrissy Bell, hetero in support from Anch, well-spoken. Showing pics of teens murdered for being gay, 42% higher rate.

  420. califpat says:

    I like her.

  421. akgrrl says:

I don’t think any of the lesbians in shop class would object to a sports illustrated swimsuit calendar on the walls …

  422. justafarmer says:

    you go girl!!!

  423. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

oh thank goodness. is heterosexual, and for the ordinance.

the only agenda being pushed is not a gay one.

equality – something every member of our society has a right to

  424. lexky says:

    alright a blue

  425. ALCAN says:

Why is religion so afraid of homosexuality? The two have nothing to do with each other. My son is homosexual, he was created by God and is perfect. He is the way GOD created him.

  426. justafarmer says:

god given rights that the government takes away.
    Someone please take him away

  427. GreatGrey says:

    More like this coming up.

  428. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

social studies teacher – good grief, this guy is having trouble going from point A to point B.

not wearing a red shirt so he can check up on folks on their property – but on his own property times up (thank goodness)

  429. califpat says:

This teacher’s has a closet full of pinups.God given rights that government protects.

  430. akmuckraker says:

Another public school teacher in a red shirt. This makes me crazy.

Student wrote a paper on traditional marriage. Some teacher was “in some ways punitive to the student.”

Snap-On tool pinups in shops is sexual harrassment. How will these things come into play? Huh?

    He is totally scattered.

    He’s a social studies teacher.

Main purpose of gov’t is protection of life, liberty and protection of property. Locke, Jefferson… Time’s up, thank goodness.

  431. GreatGrey says:

I just laugh like crazy when xtians and birfers quote the Dec of Ind.

  432. justafarmer says:

well, snapon tools gay pinups are right up there with the Candies ads far as I’m concerned
    He teaches social studies??? argggg

  433. bucfan says:

Is he a public school teacher?

  434. ds55 says:

Troy is getting louder and more confused.

  435. lexky says:

    another teacher thats scary

  436. justafarmer says:

    give me a break

  437. AKaurora says:

Troy Karluk, teacher in Anch, concerned that gay pinups might be allowed in shop class?

  438. bucfan says:

Snap on Tools? There is a dirty joke just waiting to happen but I am not touching it.

  439. justafarmer says:

Troy a teacher in Anchorage and a red shirt

  440. bucfan says:

Okay, what school did this happen? Just the facts sir.

  441. lexky says:

no thats wrong, all my children

  442. ds55 says:

I think if you’re not there when they call your number, you should just lose your turn.

  443. justafarmer says:

    poking hornets nest now…jeez.

  444. lexky says:

erica kane is on one life to live

  445. justafarmer says:

what????? put his butt in a pot?

  446. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

bucfan – I see now why he made you nervous!

  447. akmuckraker says:

Baseball hat. He’s seen a few thangs. Queers and lesbunz started their movement in the sixties. You caint turn the TV on without seeing sexual activities shown outright, or there’s no doubt about what’s supposed to be goin on. Internet is the worst thing you can have in your house.

Depends how you use it my friend.

Watched “Ma and Pa Kettle go to the County Fair.” Nobody got killed. No cuss words. No sex. It was good for the soul.

Ah, the boiling frog analogy again.

And the stick hitting the hornets nest analogy.

    “And I am a Christian.”

  448. califpat says:

Red hat is against all things that are about change. Metaphors about cooking frogs and what the media and the internet has done to our country. Wow!!

  449. lexky says:

boiling frogs is that equal to dead fish

  450. bucfan says:

Someone should hit him with a stick

  451. ds55 says:

Billy went to the SP school of public speaking.

  452. justafarmer says:

@ds55, the drinks and germs was an ordinance earlier in the meeting

  453. AKaurora says:

Billy suggests watching Ma & Pa Kettle!

  454. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

omy. mentions Three’s Company show – thinks jack was (actually) “gay”

oh geez – that dang internet is dangerous – guns ain’t half as dangerous as the dang computers

ma and pa kettle – good for the soul

    (bless his heart)

  455. lexky says:

its tv and the internets fault

  456. bucfan says:

Computers are more dangerous than guns? When is the last time somebody did a car jacking with a Dell?

  457. Super Bee says:

    Hahaha fear the PC!

  458. justafarmer says:

    crap he just said queers

  459. GreatGrey says:

This guy thinks Three’s Company destroyed morals? How about the whole Skipper and Gilligan deal?

  460. justafarmer says:

talking about AIDS and comparing it to drinks and germs

  461. ds55 says:

Billy Latta talking about AIDS… and mixing drinks… which have nothing to do with the ordinance. And I’m guessing that’s not an Alaska accent.

  462. justafarmer says:

    Billy Lada from Anchorage

  463. bucfan says:

Because everyone knows only gay people get AIDs.

  464. bucfan says:

He didn’t let me down, bring up AIDs.

  465. justafarmer says:

this woman needs to get to the point

  466. GreatGrey says:

Still no sign of Eddie, probably dealing with his bff Sarah’s problems.

  467. bucfan says:

The guy in the red hat in line is making me nervous

  468. justafarmer says:

    oh my…suicide story…

  469. justafarmer says:

NKY is ok … waiting on the storms coming

  470. justafarmer says:

now THAT was funny! Don’t feel you have to come forward when your name is called.

  471. Ennealogic says:

@nan – thanks, just noticed, bookmarking it.

Ok back in session, Madame Chair told people they could e-mail it in!

  472. lexky says:

    hey justafarmer
    hows north ky doing?

  473. bucfan says:

    justafarmer, lol

  474. justafarmer says:

lol, GreatGrey, I hear Ossiander now!

  475. bucfan says:

She just wants the red shirters to shut the heck up.

  476. justafarmer says:

bucfan, there was a guy in a white shirt who bent over double and it was ALMOST a moonshot

  477. GreatGrey says:

Can’t mosey right now, Ossiander wouldnt like it

  478. bucfan says:

All the people in red should leave because how many times can you say that gay people are evil.

  479. lexky says:

i knew they would be getting sick of all of this

  480. Super Bee says:

    Yes, emails! I vote emails!

  481. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

    lol lexky

ennealogic – did you see the link to what looks like a brand new blog on that dailykos link you gave? Wow.

  482. bucfan says:

    WE”RE BAAAACCCKKK

  483. justafarmer says:

GreatGrey, if you could just nonchalantly mosey over to the area of the podium…

  484. bucfan says:

Justafarmer, well, they have to discretely wave. It’s not like they can moon the camera. Although that would be the highlight of this meeting

  485. lexky says:

    nan
    342
i agree but i love these polls, it really messes with the trolls.
    hey im rhyming tonight

  486. justafarmer says:

    lol, GreatGrey.
    Now THAT’S funny!

  487. bucfan says:

GREATGREY, find out where they got those made. I am still trying to find the ABT shirts from a couple of weeks ago. “Anything But Tolerant”

  488. justafarmer says:

crap…too many people doing discrete waves…

  489. bucfan says:

But Rob, for me it’s hard to tell who it was more of an insult at, Meg being compared to the teacher or the teacher being compared to Meg

  490. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

lexky – look at the available options – none that are against! (mine would be – yes my opinion has changed – I think even less of her)

Has your opinion of Sarah Palin changed since she announced she would resign as Governor of Alaska?

    Yes, I can’t abide a quitter.

No, I still think she’s a good politician.

She did it for Alaska, I like her even more now!

    Read more: http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/2009/07/21/2009-07-21_palin_may_have_violated_ethics_laws.html#ixzz0LxhNqkQb

  491. GreatGrey says:

Tshirts tonight, in red and blue, “I think, therefore I am not a fan of Jerry Prevo”

  492. Ennealogic says:

O/T, DailyKOS has article called ‘Greta Van Susteren’ Hubby Hurts Palin’ @
    http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2009/7/22/756203/-Greta-Van-Susterens-Hubby-Hurts-Palin

  493. bucfan says:

Rob, that teacher made the nun’s who taught me back in the 60’s look tolerant.

  494. bucfan says:

Ginny, I see them too. Doesn’t surprise me. I’m sure it was planned to try and intimidate supporters of the ordinance.

  495. justafarmer says:

GG get into the middle of the aisle and wave to the back of the room!

  496. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

    bucfan – no kidding
And I admit, IF I had had any doubt about Obama, when I saw Colin Powell endorse him, that would have convinced me. As it was, it only made my decision feel even more right.

  497. Rob in Ca says:

Bucfan, I agree, and was just joking about AKM being tough on the teacher. Being compared to Meg is rather severe, after all.
I don’t want my kids anywhere near that kind of close-minded hateful spewing. They wouldn’t tolerate it, anyway!

  498. AKaurora says:

JFK’s snippet on church and state (1:23 min):

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LAvHHTt2czU

  499. justafarmer says:

BTW, SP has been twittting again.
Sign about 2 hours ago from TwitterBerry
I’ll sign SB125 Aerospace Corp bill tonight; encourages developmnt of the industry in AK as we capitalize on our strategic location on globe about 2 hours ago from TwitterBerry
Also sign SB177Sport Fish Guide Lic/Kenai Rvr Mgmnt Area bill;xtends sunset for sport fish guide program & addresses harvest data collection about 2 hours ago from TwitterBerry

  500. Physicsmom says:

I’ll probably check out now. Having stress test tomorrow and don’t want to raise my blood pressure any more tonight. Also can’t drink anything, so no solace of any kind available. Sigh. ‘Night Mudpups. I’ll check your live blog tomorrow. Thanks to all for hanging in there.

  501. bucfan says:

Boy, this sure feels a heck of a lot better than the last meeting when it was a constant march thru of mouth breathers

  502. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

Thank goodness for the blue shirts. If it had been another like last time, I’d never have lasted.

  503. justafarmer says:

    @Ginny…
They do that at every meeting

  504. bucfan says:

Back in 1948, the powers that were said that Harry Truman was destroying the military when he integrated it. Hmmm. Colin Powell anyone?

  505. AKaurora says:

While you’re waiting, here’s a speech given by JFK which is still relevant today regarding separation of church and state. Hits directly at Prevo and Sarah. This one is almost 11 minutes, but well worth it. I’ll post a key snippet of it in next post.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBNlS8Zg1WA

  506. justafarmer says:

    intermission again

  507. Ennealogic says:

    Tiffany was very good.

3-4 min break, someone in assembly needs to go to the bathroom maybe.

  508. justafarmer says:

lol! “Look around white people are still here) 🙂

  509. Physicsmom says:

Another blue shirt – yea! And an AA. So far, my observation has been that the few AAs who spoke were against the ord. for religious reasons. Religion is no excuse for discrimination in the public sphere. Even compares issue to discrimination against AAs (which many before have claimed was not the same). Very good testimony.

  510. Super Bee says:

    She’s one smart cookie!

This testimony sure sharply contrasts how insane the red shirts appear.

  511. GreatGrey says:

    Smoke time

  512. justafarmer says:

    yay Tiffany!!!

  513. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

    Tiffany is awesome!

    (ty Bee! et al)

  514. justafarmer says:

thx GG, I’m just seeing the other side of the room/aisle so far

  515. ds55 says:

Yes! Brown v. Bd. of Education…. ppl used their religious beliefs to oppose school integration, too.

  516. justafarmer says:

    Tiffany from Anchorage now

  517. bucfan says:

AKM, Pansexual? Either they have a thing for people who play the flute or cooking ware

  518. Fern says:

    Pansexual? sounds like fun.

  519. akmuckraker says:

Tiffany McLean! She is great. ACLU lawyer.

  520. Ennealogic says:

Blue shirt fellow, short brown beard, asks for passage of ordinance for all sexual orientation, so that LGBT persons can be themselves in ordinary life situations.

  521. Super Bee says:

    @Nan
What is the eternal damnation serving on the assembly or being removed from it?

  522. justafarmer says:

    he’s a law student & a sexual minority.
    He is also very well-spoken

  523. bucfan says:

Rob, I have three kids in the Anchorage public schools. I would not someone so openly bigoted teaching any of them.

  524. GreatGrey says:

Left side, row 6 center aisle

  525. justafarmer says:

Matthew from Anchorage speaking now, supporting the ordinance

  526. akmuckraker says:

    Pansexual?

  527. justafarmer says:

    this woman is great!

  528. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

what was the joke? I missed it completely

  529. Physicsmom says:

Request that hearings be stopped. Heard it all already in face of accusations of corruption, etc. Legally sanctioned gay-bashing going on in testimony. Can’t collect data b/c they are not protected. Dangerous for GBLT to come and give evidence or voice support. Need equivalent rights for all people. Great speech, well-prepared.

  530. bucfan says:

    LOL Patrick Flynn

  531. akmuckraker says:

Wow. This woman is great! So happy to have many blues tonight!

  532. Rob in Ca says:

AKM, you are being pretty tough on that teacher…..Stapleton is her replacement? Ouch!

  533. bucfan says:

Has anyone ever checked with the EO office in Anchorage about how many complaints have been filed in the last year regarding religious discrimination.

  534. justafarmer says:

GG, which side of the room are you sitting?

  535. GreatGrey says:

    Suluvan is gone, again.

  536. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

“copious examples of unique logic” – mentions the threats to their assembly seat(s) – complimenting the assembly apparently.

enough already (true). move to end hearing. gee, there’s prejudice – leads to acts of discrim – 1st nite had instances of discrim

  537. ds55 says:

I like this lady, she has a sense of humor, still makes her point.

  538. justafarmer says:

    lol GreyGrey! Stay strong!

  539. Ennealogic says:

Next up. Stop these hearings (gives all the right reasons, imo). Thanks assembly, asks them to think of how awful it has been for the homosexual community.

  540. bucfan says:

    GO BABY GO!

  541. GreatGrey says:

Oh heck, reddies just sat next to me, think they own the edging row.

  542. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

“Jesus love me” was FOR it? Geez, I’d tuned her out!

This one is a freakin’ lecturer. with delusions of religion.

  543. Super Bee says:

I’m sorry I missed Blondies testimony reading Mudpup commentary. I think you guys have her beat in the funny department so it’s all good.

  544. bucfan says:

And she said she was a public school teacher.

  545. Wolf Pack says:

Now lady saying this is a grand conspiracy to undermine families and moral decency. No one expects the Grand Inquisitor.

  546. justafarmer says:

wow, she’s using lots of big words

  547. akmuckraker says:

Public school teacher. Habit of the homosexual movement to cry discrimination. Well-crafted political propoganda. Attempt to stop the majority from the free exercise of speech. Tenacious and aggressive – a movement to redefine marriage, family, constitutional rights and protections. A movement entrenched in education, law and government.

I can’t believe this woman is a public school teacher.

Behaviors are a direct insult and affront to “the creator”.

This woman is self-righteous, and bitter. If Meg Stapleton gets fired, she’s the replacement.

  548. Ennealogic says:

This short light blond woman says ordinance is attempt to stop the majority from their rights to freedom of speech. (how?) Ordinance would make community acknowlege gay movement which is an abomination.

  549. justafarmer says:

    this will impair free speech?

  550. ds55 says:

Said her name was Lynn something.

  551. bucfan says:

How does she deal with gay parents? Flunk their kids?

  552. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

omg. educating us about what the homosexual agenda really is (apparently). And this is a schoolteacher.

  553. ds55 says:

    Blondie is a red-shirt. Ack.

  554. lexky says:

    political propoganda

  555. bucfan says:

    What is this women’s name? I want to make sure my kids don’t have her.;

  556. justafarmer says:

    my bad! sorry!

  557. Physicsmom says:

Woman sang “yes Jesus loves me” and then announced support of ordinance. WTF?

  558. Ennealogic says:

Oh my. Lady singing “Jesus loves me this I know,” a capella of course. She’s for the ordinance.

AKM, you really have quite a variety of characters in Anchorage!

  559. justafarmer says:

    cut her mic!!!!!!!!

  560. lexky says:

    oh my

  561. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

Oh, noooo she din’t! oh no no no noooooo

  562. akmuckraker says:

Singing “Jesus Loves Me” in a blue shirt. Does this make the third musical? I’ve lost count.

  563. ds55 says:

Noooo! She’s singing “Yes, Jesus loves me”.

My son-in law is a manager for place that people eat at in his company and he had to go for classes to make sure he knew about how long to cook things ect,how long he could leave salads out.Since he has been a cook for quite a few years he passed with flying colors and yes he wears gloves when handling food sometimes even here at home.Very thin see thru gloves. When he grills and makes patties he uses them,There is a reason for that cross contamination

  565. justafarmer says:

apparently he has Constitution for Dummies on notecards. Mixed them up and he was lost

  566. GreatGrey says:

    America haz talent

  567. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

WHAT is he talking about “send us down to” … whatever it is. (not all of MO is like that, honest! some, yes, not all)

  568. Wolf Pack says:

Squirrel guy claims Alaska has no laws.

  569. Ennealogic says:

    This guy is from Missouri?

Brought up BIG stack of papers and a bottle of water. Talking about a squirrel who got into his attic. Wonders where his seat is? Is chastising assembly for troubles he has had with taxes for the 50-60 houses he owns?

Just wow. He is acting sorta drunk, methinks. Wearing a sandy gray suit, white shirt and brown patterned tie. He’s still chastising assembly for some other grievances. He needs a hug but he’s too creepy for me.

  570. Physicsmom says:

I have no idea what the last guy was talking about? Anyone?

  571. Super Bee says:

Look at the people behind him looking around asking what the hell? Times up thank God!

  572. akgrrl says:

    Alaska pride shirt!

  573. akmuckraker says:

This guy is a whack job. Didn’t come here to pray to you. Why didn’t you prepare a seat for me. Squirrels gnawing into his attic? What the…

Property taxes. Asking people if they have a lawnmower…not interested in sexual behavior. Can any of you deny that Anchorage is a municipal corporation? Citing the charter. Protection of common law. Constitutions are a limitation by nature? What did you enforce to protect sixth amendment?

    Is he on drugs?

  574. justafarmer says:

    he mixed up his notecards

  575. bucfan says:

Think about this folks. If the red shirters had their way, the lady in the blue scrubs wouldn’t be allowed to have custody of her fifteen year old son.

  576. ds55 says:

    (He’s off his meds.)

  577. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

… looking for closet to hide in…

Either he’s scared spitless, or he’s blitzed. not sure which.

  578. GreatGrey says:

Missouri dude has a stack of paper & legal pads, yet totally unprepared.

  579. justafarmer says:

    a rental guy

  580. bentalaska says:

this man has squirrels in more than just his attic!

  581. justafarmer says:

now we have squirrels in the attic…sigh

  582. Wolf Pack says:

Ordinance is like a squirrel trying to get in the guy’s attic. Next!

  583. ds55 says:

Okay… squirrel guy is a looney tune.. I’m just sayin’…

  584. justafarmer says:

ooh, previous red guy printed his court citations off the intertubes…they’re going to check on it

  585. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

    omg… cringing in MO here

  586. GreatGrey says:

Great fun sitting behind reddies and clapping after a blue speaker.

  587. ds55 says:

This guy from Missouri looks like he woke up with a hangover. Squirrel story?

  588. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

    I *liked* her!

  589. Super Bee says:

She’s awesome! So was the gal before her.

  590. Physicsmom says:

Person speaking says Titles VII and IX do NOT cover discrimination for sexual orientation. Very important point; obviously explains why this ordinance is needed. Court case cited earlier doesn’t apply to case law in AK. Special rights imply there is a zero sum game going on, that giving one segment rights will take rights away from someone else. Not true. She is excellent!

  591. Ennealogic says:

Lawyer woman, now teaches law. Says discrimination is not prevented by current law, absent state action. Existing law does not protect. She’s good. Rights given to one group already would not be diminished by giving same rights also to another group.

Very nice. She’s being questioned by assembly members.

  592. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

she’s rebutting a previous red-shirt (she’s apparently blue – very blue) – asking for the 2nd point (over time)

re special rights “zero sum game fallacy” – limited number of rights (we’re not gonna use up the rights?)

  593. ds55 says:

I like this lawyer lady a lot. *hugs* to her.

  594. justafarmer says:

    she’s good

  595. ds55 says:

GinnyRED57: Dog-earing dollars you give to taxes, marking the dollars to make sure you know exactly where they end up, tracking gov’t spending.

  596. justafarmer says:

    she’s not reading, she’s speaking

  597. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

non-practicing lawyer, teaches undergrad about law…

equal protect clause do not protect discrimination – or equal protection under law at state level. Private transactions are not covered

someone spoke of gender orient, ident, etc stated that Title 7 of equal protect – does not protect in this case.

  598. ds55 says:

    Explaining the legalities. Good job!

  599. justafarmer says:

    lady lawyer now

  600. justafarmer says:

I liked her mentioning that her gay dollars are the same

  601. akmuckraker says:

Wow. She was awesome. It’s my city too. Is my family less than yours? Less worthy of protection?

    I clapped at home.

  602. justafarmer says:

    “This is MY town too”

  603. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

bless her heart. Fearful of retaliation. asks for voting wisely

  604. justafarmer says:

“I’m tired of pretending to be something I’m not”

  605. Ennealogic says:

Blue shirt woman, talking about family, speaks to her son about honoring diversity. She’s always guarded … her partner and her are in fear of giving themselves away.

    Moving testimony.

  606. GreatGrey says:

    I love this woman.

  607. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

compelled to speak after hearing the 1st days testimony

is afraid for her job, fam, home. 15 yr old son, she and her partner complain about taxes, they have an epileptic dog… (regular folks). But her family is “not worth protection?”

honest, stand up for what y”believe in… is guarded in her own daily life

  608. justafarmer says:

    this is kinda sad testimony
Is my family less important than your family…

  609. WakeUpAmerica says:

I liked the apart about there being one religion. Period. Says it all.

  610. bucfan says:

This woman is going to make me cry. Hooray for her

  611. Wolf Pack says:

Why do people who have such faith in God, are so freakin fearful. Dum Dums!

  612. GreatGrey says:

Blue lady, that makes 3 tonight.

  613. akgrrl says:

My beliefs are the one and only path, and you must believe what I believe or my beliefs are not valid! So there! (* stomp *)

  614. justafarmer says:

oh she has homosexual friends, so it’s ok to be hateful

  615. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

if for the ordinance, then against god…

does not agree with the few gay friends lifestyle

  616. bucfan says:

OMG. I have some gay friends? Oldie but goodie

  617. Ennealogic says:

Oh dear. Black/white large diamond shaped pattern on shirt. Quoting Matthew (bible). She says God doesn’t agree with the lifestyle that ordinance is about. Her beliefs aren’t really her beliefs, they’re true. There’s only one belief, if you don’t believe, there’s not another path to follow. Homos are abomination. More bible quoting.

Well, I guess we know which column she’s in.

  618. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

oboy… only one belief and that’s jesus christ and if you don’t believe, there’s -well there’s only one belief

    quoting specific scripture. sigh.

  619. Physicsmom says:

Red shirt girl: Keep your hearts open to my Bible verses. Sheesh. Pastors are misinterpreting the Bible ( I know better!) People don’t understand what this ord. will do – you need to do more work. Only one belief. I haven’t heard anyone so self-righteous, over-confident and presumptious. Gack!

  620. justafarmer says:

can these people come of with anything other than “my Christian values”

  621. ds55 says:

Grr! Follow Jesus because there is no other path to follow???

  622. GreatGrey says:

“Its not my belief, but it’s true” WTF?

  623. Super Bee says:

    Wow, she’s embarrassing.

  624. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

a warning from God (that this (?) was gonna happen)… now gonna “explain” what the ord is gonna do… oboy (bathrooms maybe?)

  625. bentalaska says:

Homophobe gets up and cries to the assembly that her children were sexually approached by gay adults at one of the hearings – BS! If that were true, she would have gone to the police or security guards immediately, not come whining to the assembly a month later. What an horrible mother!

  626. akmuckraker says:

Pastors who are for the ordinance are “false prophets”.

  627. justafarmer says:

    uhoh, she’s doing calisthenics

  628. WakeUpAmerica says:

Must have been a church requirement to come “testify.”

  629. GreatGrey says:

Speaking of bathrooms, I got here late, has anyone used that tonight?

  630. lexky says:

    librarys to

  631. justafarmer says:

ooooh, it happened in a LIBRARY!

  632. ds55 says:

I call bullsh*t on that lady, somehow I find it hard to believe that happened to her son and she didn’t report it to authorities.

  633. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

yes! was told to go to cops re kid

  634. justafarmer says:

people attempted to block her entry into the Assembly meeting? giveme a break

  635. Ennealogic says:

If this ordinance passes how will this red shirt, dark jacketed lady protect her child!? Already many avenues to file a complaint. She’s been called a gay basher and hateful. How will this affect her child in private school five, ten years from now?

  636. WakeUpAmerica says:

Do these people listen to each other? Why do they have to repeat, repeat, repeat!?

  637. justafarmer says:

she going to cry because her son was approached….at least she didn’t mention bathrooms

  638. WakeUpAmerica says:

    Oh please make it stop!!!

  639. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

her son was approached by 2 men, “does he have this to look forward to with this ord?” (already happening, hon – turn the jerks in, silly)

  640. akgrrl says:

All homosexuals are pedophiles … Yawn, there’s a broken record in this room.

  641. ds55 says:

Argghh! I hate when they try to equate gays with pedophiles.

  642. justafarmer says:

    oh here we go…

  643. lexky says:

    she is full of sh*t

  644. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

wish this gal was a little better organized in her speech… she’s got some good thoughts (if you can winnow them out of the verbiage).

  645. justafarmer says:

wow! she was accused of being a lesbian because she didn’t have a boyfriend serving in Iraq

  646. Ennealogic says:

Wasilla resident, student in Anchorage. Interesting. Says only group out of the six that were persecuted in Germany under Hitler is not now protected in Anchorage. Is for ordinance.

  647. GreatGrey says:

Is this the fedex fast talking guy?0

  648. justafarmer says:

she’s complaining about the fact she is trianed to deal with this and she has learned this ordinance is needed

  649. akgrrl says:

Someone from Wasilla who is for the ordinance? Wow, nice 🙂

  650. lexky says:

a blue from wasilla, is that possible

  651. justafarmer says:

    yay for her!

  652. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

where is this going???? SHe’s *for* it??? complaining about dealing with student issues as a – what, a housemom?

  653. akmuckraker says:

BLUE! Advisor at UAA. Alaska has a lot of work to do on discrimination.

  654. justafarmer says:

    Wasilla person

  655. justafarmer says:

she should be listening to what she is saying

  656. akmuckraker says:

Wasn’t raise with “prejudist”. State employee. Never witnessed discrimination. Loves all people of all races. Christians love one another and don’t judge. God is the judge.

After a long long rambling meditation about how you can’t know another’s situation unless you are like them….she says vote no.

    Ack

  657. Wolf Pack says:

If everyone in Alaska and born again preacher? Jesus!

  658. Ennealogic says:

In defense of freedom this blonde woman with red shirt, scarf and yellow jacket (bad colors for a blond) speaks against ordinance. She’s a state employee. Hasn’t witnessed any discrimination, loves all. She doesn’t judge. Reading aphorisms from native traditions. Where is she going with this?

  659. justafarmer says:

    she is quoting an elder???

  660. Lori in Los Angeles says:

fern – yep, it is like the movie “Groundhog Day.” Anyone know how many more people are signed up to testify?

  661. bucfan says:

I just want someone to stand up and say “Ok, lets do what the red shirters want and vote down 64, because no one should have special rights simply because of a choice they made. And while we are at it, let’s remove those groups that also fall under the choice category, like say religion” And when they scream First Amendment, you just simply say that taking away their special rights in no way prevents them from practicing their religion.

  662. lexky says:

if she starts talking about dead fish…………..

  663. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

lived in country in ’55 – not raised in prejudice,

raised to be contributing member of society. (here comes de lawd now)… works for AK for 15 yrs, over 100 diff staff members without discrim.

  664. Rob in Ca says:

Thanks for being there and doing the right thing!

Our side will win, in time.

  665. lexky says:

she speaks better than buttercup. i can understand her

  666. justafarmer says:

she is wearing one of SP’s scarves!!!

  667. justafarmer says:

hahahaaa! founding fathers’ moral…guess she hasn’t heard about Ben Franklin!

  668. Wolf Pack says:

Sarah’s twin is taking now. Nice hair… lol

  669. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

    GinnyRED – perish the thought!

  670. lexky says:

    sarah wannabe

  671. akmuckraker says:

I think we have a Palin impersonator!

  672. justafarmer says:

and she has SP’s hairstyle without the bumpits

  673. akgrrl says:

    It’s a Sarah clone! Eeeewwwwww

  674. akmuckraker says:

Trying to change the moral course of our nation and we shouldn’t do that. “What is right and what is wrong does not change.”

What about slavery? Inter-racial marriage? Child labor? Stoning adulterers?

Breakdown of our society. The founding fathers built the country on an anti-homosexual agenda, apparently.

    Go home!

  675. lexky says:

we are in a battle people

  676. justafarmer says:

look at the women next in line to speak fanning herself desperately.
Hey lady! take the jacket off that is disguising your red shirt!

  677. bucfan says:

What is driving me crazy are these people over the past weeks who say that their interpretation of the Bible is the correct one. Absopositively. Somewhere I hear this voice saying something about beware of false prophets. As AKM said earlier, there is a lot in the Bible, some in the same books that they are quoting, that they obviously aren’t complying with.

  678. Super Bee says:

Even though I have a profound appreciation for Jesus, it is because of people like this that I don’t go to a house of worship.

  679. ds55 says:

The lady in white pants waiting to speak has a Sarah-esque look about her.

  680. Ennealogic says:

I guess these folks who are so wrapped up in their cross can no longer recognize the value in anyone else’s beliefs (or absence of specific beliefs).

How small their world must be. It’s all within their own head, their own sphere.

  681. justafarmer says:

    Christians have instructions manuals???

  682. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

Why do people think it’s cool to chew gum in public? Makes ’em look downright bovine.

get a job – and for the lord… huh? apply for job, 90 day probabtion, here are the rules… if you fulfill the rules then you’re full time position. Same w/christian realm – oh my. Bible is the rule book, but our “probation” is 70 yrs (the 3-score & ten). Then, at end of probation etc, you’re “hired” or out the door.

And what that has to do with the ordinance is beyond me.

  683. GreatGrey says:

That was close, iPhone opened up on a pr0n site, I never would have gotten it back from Eddie Burke.

  684. mmboucher Florida says:

Is adultry is that book of rules? I think there would be a lot of “christians” left out of heaven!!!!

  685. justafarmer says:

what on earth is is talking about??? It’s Palinese

  686. seattlefan says:

Lol! The gum. Thanks for letting those of us who can’t see what is going on.

  687. Fern says:

You know, these hearings or forums or whatever are starting to feel like those awful nightmares when you wake up (or think you have woken up) and then doze off just to find yourself still in the same damn nightmare.

  688. lexky says:

    probation?

  689. lexky says:

    not prepared

  690. ds55 says:

I thought I saw SP sitting on an aisle seat. *blink*

  691. justafarmer says:

Tim chewing away on something in his mouth. Way to make a grownup impression, Tim!

  692. ds55 says:

Is he chawing tobacco or chewing a wad of gum? Eww.

  693. mhrt says:

Reading from oregon. Thank you all.

  694. lexky says:

    spit the gum out

  695. akmuckraker says:

Red shirt. Can’t we at least lose the gum, buddy?

  696. justafarmer says:

“I’m sorry won’t work either” on Judgment Day. She might want to think about that

  697. Physicsmom says:

“They will have a rude awakening on Judgment Day.” More Bible-speak. Don’t interfere with other people’s relationship with God or Goddess or Buddha or FSM. Don’t they get that? If God will have the last word, then let Her and you guys mind your own business.

  698. akmuckraker says:

Lies, perversion, shameful behavior. God made it clear in Leviticus… The abomination quote. Shellfish and mixed fabric is also an abomination on the same page of the Bible. Hmm…what fabric is your jacket made of lady?

Judgement day…bla bla bla. God is the judge. Won’t accept excuses. I’m sorry won’t work on that day. It will be too late. You have a choice.

God said I will send my anger upon you. He is watching and listening.

Oy. She was a scary one.

  699. justafarmer says:

Loretta red shirt…one side (hers) in for truth….
cripes…SHAME on these pastors who don’t know their Bible! She’s a real piece of work

  700. lexky says:

    awwwwwwwww judgement day

  701. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

super bee – he didn’t beat us over the head with it though. Wasn’t bad.

new gal – one side for truth, morals t’other is icky etc.

list of bible verses – ‘A shame I don’t have time to read them all to you ” (thank you!)

  702. lexky says:

im not saying anything about her height……….

  703. GreatGrey says:

    Judgement day, run for cover!!!!

  704. akgrrl says:

“One side is for morals” … And the other side wears red shirts.

  705. Super Bee says:

    H8R

  706. justafarmer says:

AKM, re yor very recent head bang…you have GOT to see Jon Stewart’s head bang into a cream pie on tonight’s show

  707. Physicsmom says:

This guy objects to ordinance because title VII already covers it with regard to sexual harassment. That doesn’t cover housing discrimination however. School districts already prohibit sexual discrimination under Title IX. Generally more reasoned than a lot of the vitriol spewed here (but still not right, because the existing laws aren’t enforced).

  708. akmuckraker says:

We’re not called to condemn the sinners… So there shouldn’t be a law to support non-discrimination. huh?

    Ah! Armpit shot!

  709. Super Bee says:

At least this guy isn’t preaching the Bible to us, oops spoke too soon.

  710. ds55 says:

“Christians are compelled to oppose the ordinance, not because we hate…” Oh nooo, redshirts don’t hate.

  711. justafarmer says:

this man is the perfect example of why this ordinance is needed! He’s in charge of settling these things?

  712. ds55 says:

Sexual harassment in the workplace because of sexual orientation is already addressed in the law, he says. I give him points for taking a novel approach to opposing the ordinance.

  713. John says:

Students are allowed to pray in schools. They do it all the time. There are even bible clubs.

  714. justafarmer says:

    I need more Scotch…

  715. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

justafarmer – huh? (did I word something weird?)

  716. Ennealogic says:

Ordinance will push gay agenda in front of her precious children.. how to explain two lesbians kissing… if assembly puts ordinance in, they will force schools to allow bibles again…

  717. GreatGrey says:

Treasury dept, is he gonna say gays don’t pay taxes?

  718. justafarmer says:

put the Bible back in the schools if you enact this ordinance!

  719. John says:

OMG. I have had people try to recruit me to their religious views. I have never had a gay person try to recruit me to their sexual orientation, and I have had many gay friends including a college roommate.

  720. akmuckraker says:

We’re not allowed to pray in school. It’s not fair that children can see two women kissing in school. Need 10 commandments in school so kids have “a choice.”

    Wine!

  721. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

    “We’re not allowed to pray”

if this passes they want ordinance to put bible back in schools.

    sigh.

  722. ds55 says:

    Blondie red-shirt is an airhead.

  723. Physicsmom says:

Wasn’t there a gay pride parade in Anchorage last month?

Yes. Yes there was…. (head bang) AKM

  724. lexky says:

    bad for schools???????????????

  725. GreatGrey says:

Left side, row 6 next to aisle. Where were the outside kiddie protesters?

  726. Ennealogic says:

heh.. this red shirt lady says gays can’t procreate therefore they must recruit… look out! they be comin’ for you next!

  727. justafarmer says:

Nan, that sounds a bit, hmmm…

  728. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

“with young boys” is also orientation (according to her – wrong!) She knows a lesbian who has *never* been discriminated against… applauds the honesty there.
    humpf

  729. akmuckraker says:

Pedophiles. Recruiting. Advertising. Influencing young boys. Anchorage is not ready for a San Francisco style parade.

  730. justafarmer says:

oh, she knows people like that.
Oh my!!!! “They want to lower the age of consent to 12 so they can have relations with young children”
    OMG!

  731. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

Can’t understand this one. sounds like she swallowed the mike (might be a good thing)

  732. justafarmer says:

sigh…”I will give my life for Jesus..”

  733. Super Bee says:

The thought of any of those geeks in red shirts coupling makes my stomach turn but I’m not standing in front of Anchorage whining about it.

  734. Physicsmom says:

This woman suggests that homosexuals are trying to convert people to their lifestyle? Another person quoting the Bible as authority. I’m SOOOOO sick of the attempt to intermingling church and state. I don’t give a F$$$ what their Bible says!

  735. Ennealogic says:

Red shirt lady against. Country founded on Judeo-christian ethics. Bible says Jesus can work a miracle in anyone’s life (meaning gays can be cured).

  736. ds55 says:

The law is not meant to duplicate “God’s word”… what is wrong with these people?

  737. justafarmer says:

    AKM @73
    Native peoples, also?

  738. justafarmer says:

red shirts lining up to speak now. This woman says this violates her religious freedoms

  739. akmuckraker says:

“Unlike others, Christians don’t force people to convert…” Crusades anyone?

  740. ds55 says:

No one is infringing on your religious freedom, lady… gimme a break.

  741. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

I’d like to see a *Red Shirt* reading it! (ha, will never happen)

  742. Ennealogic says:

Next guy up talking about God, God’s will, God’s design, God’s intentions for the use of our bodies … *sigh* … can’t condone sexual intercourse outside of God’s design therefore he’s against 64 in any fashion.

  743. justafarmer says:

    God’s will….sighhhhhhh

  744. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

Looks like Uriah Heep – is opposed. “Praise God” (huh?)

wants evidence examined thoroughly, honestly and objectively. Gawd, now an anatomy lesson..

  745. justafarmer says:

David from Anchorage now. opposed in any form

  746. akmuckraker says:

There is a God. God designed the human body. A red shirt in yellow clothing. Designed human male person for “coupling” with human female. Ack…

  747. ds55 says:

I think a blue shirt should read aloud at the podium “A Retired Pastor’s Thoughts on Red Shirts and Blue Shirts”.

  748. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

foster dad, award winning school psychologist (?), has a partner (?) of 10 yrs. “Not a choice.” Is for.

    Very well spoken, calm

  749. Ennealogic says:

First up is well-spoken, gay himself, says fear and seeking power at root of objections to ordinance.

  750. justafarmer says:

first speaker in favor, audio is breaking up

  751. akmuckraker says:

What a way to start! 🙂

  752. bentalaska says:

Testimony on the equal rights ordinance is starting, #505-512 on the sign up sheet. NOTE: this is the 6th public hearing on the ordinance, not round 5.

  753. justafarmer says:

I suggest that if the speakers can’t print their names clearly enough to be read out loud, they can’t speak.
well, that’s what I would do if I was in charge.

  754. justafarmer says:

sounds like they did but here we go!

  755. Ennealogic says:

    Finally. 13D up now.

  756. akgrrl says:

    It’s party time!

  757. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

sorry – hit “go” too soon.

Did they just move the discussion on 64 to the end?

  758. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

    arggghhhh!

  759. justafarmer says:

oooh, the dreaded “point of order”

  760. justafarmer says:

cripes, when I was a bartender, my hands were in the hot washwater cleaning glasses ALL the time. My hands haven’t been near as clean since then.

  761. ds55 says:

How do they think anything gets cooked without touching it? Come on ppl!

  762. justafarmer says:

use a tissue when garnishing a drink??? blechhh

  763. Ennealogic says:

It’s a plot, I tell ya. They want to stretch out the boring business until I get so tired I can’t stay up and watch and report!

  764. justafarmer says:

@Ripley, the rate they’re going I thin the vote will be in the 22nd Century.

  765. Nan (aka roswellborn) says:

haven’t they had regs for wearing gloves already?? geez!

  766. Lori in Los Angeles says:

Any bathroom incidents reported yet? WHO IS GUARDING THE BATHROOMS?

  767. InJuneau says:

anadventurer–yes, yes they were! The Spouse always points that out for me…

  768. Ripley says:

Gee, it’s too bad it’s getting late here on the east coast… I’d sure love to stick around and see how many other people can spew hate and discontent over my “choice” of lifestyle. *hork*

You all have fun. I’ll check in tomorrow to see what happened. When will they vote finally? I hope the people of Anchorage are outraged that their ass-embly meeting was hijacked and do the right thing.

  769. justafarmer says:

and when they bump the mic it sounds like a fart

  770. Time to go below – into the pit of dispair and disorganized rhetoric. 😉

  771. Ennealogic says:

Somebody should tell the people who testify to step.back.from.the.microphone. When they kiss the thing their voices are all funny because they’re too loud.

  772. justafarmer says:

I have to go through all that regulatory stuff as a farmer who does value-added food products

  773. Ennealogic says:

Hand washing, cross-contamination and proper preparation also too oh my!

  774. anadventurer says:

Weren’t the red shirts the first to die in Star Trek®

  775. akmuckraker says:

Parasites and microbes and food poisoning, oh my!

  776. justafarmer says:

    I’m ready!

  777. sauerkraut says:

Maybe they are delaying until fat eddie comes waddling in. …

  778. akgrrl says:

Still going over some other old items

  779. akgrrl says:

    Intermission over

  780. Ennealogic says:

Looks like assembly members are wandering back in. I wasn’t listening when they said how long the intermission would be.

  781. WakeUpAmerica says:

Are they starting with the comments for and against 64 right after the intermission? And how long is the intermission?

  782. “Do they have a popcorn stand somewhere? ”
    ******************************************
    Coffee shop, second floor.

  783. lexky says:

i wonder if we will be graced with eddie b. tonight, or he might be in mourning over his queens dethroning.

  784. Ennealogic says:

Assembly is still in intermission. Do they have a popcorn stand somewhere? And giant paper cups of icy soda? Good n Plenty boxes?

  785. oops sorry I was interrupted – I meant to say there was a woman waiting to sign up to speak in favor – I already spoke – sorry.

  786. When I was downstairs hoping to sign up to speak in favor. I have lost track of the sign up process at this point. There were only two people outside with signs when I drove in and they were wearing blue I think. Definitely not red.

  787. sauerkraut says:

    Thank you berry much, Lori.

Just spit my ice cube somewhere. …

  788. Seagull Junker Palin says:

Thanks in advance live bloggers – I’m reading!

  790. WakeUpAmerica says:

Guess I’ll run out and feed the herd of desert moose before the fun starts here. I sure am glad that you posted that article by the anonymoose pastor. That was so excellent. It should be posted in the ADN and Frontiersman.

  791. Cassie Jeep Pike Palin says:

    Good one, Lori!

  792. PS watching comments to see when the fireworks start….

  793. WakeUpAmerica says:

Plus, “brigade” is a collective noun, so “…brigade [is]…” Sorry, getting ready for our 2009-2010 school year. I have to keep on my toes. I agree with the unnecessary “r” in the third word.

  794. zyggy says:

I thought I heard them say the bill would be brought up Aug 22nd at the last meeting.

  795. Lori in Los Angeles says:

“The red shirt brigade are an organized crowd from several local area evangelical churches”.
OOPS AKM, you put an “r” in the third word by mistake.

  796. Hello – I am upstairs in the library working on a class assignment, but will be down to watch the excitement later. Brians are napping in the car with the dog, they may sit this one out. See you all on the telly – 😉 .

  797. WakeUpAmerica says:

are you actually there this time, AKM?

  798. Canadian Neighbour says:

  800. akmuckraker says:

I’m glad they honored Allan Tesche. I wish I had seen it. He will be missed so much… an amazing man.

Testimony is 13D on the Agenda. We’re on 11F right now. It’ll be a little while yet.

  801. Canadian Neighbour says:

    I posted on previous thread:

Anchorage Assembly honoured The Late Mr. Allen Tesche for his service. Mary Tesche, his daughter was there to accept a certificate or something that was handed to her.

  802. lexky says:

if there are no red shirts then there wont be any bathroom talk.. 🙁
