Sarah Palin Out of Touch and Out of Town.
Alaskans are picking themselves up and dusting themselves off today after dodging the bullet that was the appointment of Wayne Anthony Ross for Alaska’s Attorney General. Relief is the word of the day.
There were many factors leading to the demise of this nomination; the fact that he called gays “degenerates” in the Bar Newsletter, the condemnation by every major Native organization, the report of comments that can only be described as sexist and misogynistic at meetings and panel discussions, but the final nail in the coffin for several of those “nay” votes may have been the most awesome “gotcha” moment ever, by Sean Cockerham of the Anchorage Daily News. He reported that Ross had said, “it seems to me the most important thing that can be done by the Senate is not argue with legal or illegal but to appoint somebody to represent Juneau.”
After the appropriate reaction of disbelief and horror that pulsated through the halls of the capitol building like a shock wave, Mr. Ross did what we might expect. He made stuff up.
He circulated a letterto lawmakers in Juneau which said that this “rumor” was “totally false.” I would imagine that a journalist might be a bit irritated when someone accuses them of spreading a false rumor. And I also imagine Sean Cockerham doing a double take that gave him whiplash. And he did what you’d expect any good journalist to do. He told the truth. The whole thing reminded me of a good Columbo episode. Like when he says, “Oh….just one more thing.” and then he lays the murder weapon on the table. In this case the murder weapon was a tape recording of Wayne Anthony Ross saying exactly what he said he never said. Dang that new-fangled technology! I guess that’s how “rumors” get started.
And the governor’s absence throughout these proceedings has been a bit of a head scratcher. Not that Wayne Anthony Ross needs hand holding, but one would think that if the governor was doing her level best to promote and support her candidate, that she would have elected to be present. It’s hard to work on swaying votes, or explaining your position from Indiana. Just sayin’.
2010 gubernatorial candidate Bob Poe who will be seeking the Democratic nomination, had the same thought. In a press release issued yesterday evening, he said:
It is puzzling Governor Palin has chosen this time, when so much is at stake in the final days of the Legislative session, to be out of state attending an anti abortion fundraiser in Indiana. The Attorney General is critical to the effective functioning of State government. By her absence, the Governor is demonstrating she is “out of touch and out of town” when it comes to effectively governing Alaska ,” said Poe.
While Alaska is fortunate they will not be subjected to a divisive Attorney General as Mr. Ross, this also demonstrates something even more concerning. Governor Palin is simply disengaged with the day-to-day functioning of Alaska state government. This lack of engagement puts at risk so many critical initiatives to Alaska ’s future. If she is so unwilling to put her waning political capital behind her own appointment for Attorney General, what kind of effort is she devoting to building a gas pipeline, a bullet line, or even aligning Railbelt Utilities?”
Poe added, “Alaska is fortunate the Alaska Legislature is on the job though and that they did not let this appointment pass. Legislators are too often criticized, they have a tough job to do with little time to do it. This time they really did the right thing.”
There are many who had a hand in facilitating the crash and burn of Wayne Anthony Ross, whether by making difficult public testimony, sifting through records, calling and emailing legislators, or simply standing up and speaking the truth. But those who are primarily responsible for this ignominious defeat are Wayne Anthony Ross himself, and the woman who thought it was a really good idea to nominate him.
lynnrockets: I’ve asked the moderator to put us in touch. A few clicks of the mouse reveals that J. Geils will be in DETROIT THIS WEEKEND!
OMG OMG OMG!
Many thanks to you for prompting me to research this! I can find tix, but want to know more about your experience. Was it all old stuff or was there alot of PW’s new solo effort?
Please contact me!
Samper
Dear Moderator:
OMG OMG OMG!!!!!
lynnrockets posted about seeing a band that we LOVE here in Detroit… she got me to researching their goings on these days. They haven’t been around in ages.
Turns out her beloved band (mine as well) has scheduled dates in Detroit for THIS WEEKEND!!!! I had no idea and the last time I saw them was in 1979.
Can you please give her my email address and ask her to contact me? I want to ask her some questions about the show (that would put me back $150 if I go). Basically, I want to know that it’s all the “old stuff” and not a “new dvd” promo thing.
MANY thanks!!!!
XOXO,
Samper

I just watched all the Indiana speech videos. And I have to admit that, as much as it pains me to, I was surprised that she actually made that speech all about HER. Many of us probably assumed that would be the case, I was just blown away at the degree to which that is true.
I kept thinking that at some point SP would actually act like a grown up instead of a self centered child, act like a “politician” at least, but she just KEPT ON focusing on herself and her family, talking about ME ME ME and MINE. She barely addressed the focus of that poor misguided audience and the organization that invited her there.
I am embarassed to say I am surprised, because most of would have assumed she is just that self centered, I guess I just couldn’t imagine that she would be so self absorbed about it, and that she was SO blinded by the spotlight opportunity that she couldn’t see that her purpose there was NOT about HER entirely. A “politician” would have made it about the audience and the organization, ummm at least eventually.
My dismay & dislike for this woman has now reached a new low, a level I never thought possible. I couldn’t imagine I could like her less than I did before that speech. Wonders never cease. All I can do is hope that she continues along these lines, and that the media keeps hounding her for interviews. Eventually even the dimmest of brains will have to summarily dismiss her. And then peraps, eventually we won’t have to think about her anymore.
All I can say is Sarah, open mouth, insert shovel. PLEASE keep it up. Keep digging your own grave.
I’m sorry folks! My earlier post was completely off topic. But when I read about lynnrockets seeing the band, I couldn’t resist the stroll down memory lane. Please cut me some slack. I live in the Detroit area and things here are REALLY bad. Thinking about good times just got the best of me.
As for Sarah…
It’s truly unbelievable a movement hasn’t started to oust her. She is a divisive, manipulative, lying and grossly uneducated farce for the Republican party.
Not a day goes by that she isn’t embroiled in some sort of controversy, whether in appointing an AG or a Senator or explaining the birth of her so-called “son”, Twig. (BTW: What’s up with all the goofy names up there?)
While she supposedly “canceled” a mid-summer appearance for the RNC, due to “pressing State business”, it’s unfathomable that she would go to IN for completely NON-State business during the last week of Legislature with so much still not resolved (ie; stimulus funds, AG, Senator, etc.).
As for WAR, he was quoted somewhere in ADN about how he wonders if he’ll be placed with other AG’s in State archives since, after all, he was AG for 2.5 weeks. Ummm… can he really claim the title without having been confirmed?
And what AG is going to say “don’t worry about legal vs. illegal”? Isn’t that his whole JOB? To make sure things are done LEGALLY?
I shudder to think of how close Palin was to the White House. Even as close as she was to the Naval Observatory is enough to make one cringe.
I have a feeling even McCain shudders when he considers the consequences of such a thing.
She’d be “in charge of” the Senate!
lynnrockets: I’m in Detroit and we LOVE LOVE LOVE J. Geils here!! In fact, the outdoor summer concert was one of my very first dates with my very first “real” boyfriend, if you get what I mean. That was 1979! (We dated a good long time before becoming “real”, though!) 😉
Forget “Centerfold” and “Freeze Frame”! That stuff is crap in comparison… I like the good OLD stuff… the stuff that “Wooba Gooba with the Green Teeth” was famous for. We, like Boston, are “hard drivin'” rock and rollers.
Am I understanding you correctly? They are back together and performing around Boston? Any chance of a summer tour? Detroit would LOVE to host them again!! It’s just what we need here… a bunch of unemployed 40-somethings reliving the careless days of our youth. Take the stress away for just a few hours and we have a whole new lease on life.
We’re also trying to get Bob Seger to come out and play with us this summer. We have a fantastic outdoor theatre that is like 10 minutes from his house, so it’s not like a huge stretch for him to do a few nights. Like J. Geils, Rockin’ Robert Seger has an unbelievably loyal audience here. He could sell out 20 nights in a row, as could J. Geils. And there would STILL be those disappointed that it wasn’t “enough”.
It’s kind of too bad the rest of the country didn’t pick up on either band as phenomenally as Detroit did. They missed alot of great music and good times during the summer tours… Outside, under the stars on warm summer nights, plenty of libations… Ahhhh… the good ol’ days!
Thanks for conjuring up some phenomenal memories!!
As a citizen of Indiana. I have to say: Please, Please, I beg of you, take Sarah back, and encourage her not to visit our state again.
I thank you. Other Hoosiers thank you. Our children and our grandchildren will thank you.
For me, Sarah Palin epitomizes how low the GOP has fallen into sheer, blind, raving insanity and nut-wingery disconnection from reality. Selfish, self-centered, self-serving, and incapable of knowing she is contradicting herself from one moment to the next, or just plain lying through her teeth. The idea that she and McCain actually got over 45% of the vote in the last election makes me want to heave. And fear for America.

Hello, it is good to see a friendly poster. Obviously, I’ve been out tonight, but you would think that I could somehow figure out how to post a link to another site. Obviously I’m inept and frustrated to boot. i just wanted to share this terrific clip, but alas, no luck.
Damn, I wish I was smart enough to post a link. I assure you folks that this is worth it if you give it a try. Go to Youtube, then search for” J geils band house of blues JosephLank give it to Me” Please try it tit’s great.
I promise I’ll get back on topic if just one person says they saw this video.
It appears to me now that i have no idea how to paste a youtube link onto this site. Please just find a way to make that previous link work by typing it in on your own or something. I assure you that it is worth it.
@ Hey , Martha, here’s a little taste of the real J. Geils Band at the House of Blues in Boston recently. This is the first time they’ve played together in many years. When I was growing up, they were always the band that played on New Year’s Eve at he Boston Garden before Aerosmith got the honors.
Now, I have no idea where you’re from or where you grew up, but to understand this clip, you must understand that Boston is an old East Coast urban city that loves dirty old rock and roll. The population is for the most part, a bunch of 1st or 2nd generation Irish Catholic urban hard-drinking thugs or very well educated Ivy league Intellectuals. The combination makes for a great music scene. This clip was recorded on somebody’s cell phone or something.
The J. Geils Band was very much a product of the late 60’s and 70’s. they only managed any nationwide popularity, however in the early 80’s with the terrible sell-out pop hits, “Centerfold”, “Freeze Frame” etc. This selling out caused a rift in the band that caused them to break up.
They’ve just reunited for 1 or 2 concerts and have vowed to play only their earlier good stuff. The lead singer is Peter Wolf, watch him he’s cool. The harmonica guy is Magic Dick and I’m not sure if anyone is better. Seth Justman is the keyboardist and is damn good.
This song was recorded at the House of Blues in Boston. Please watch it all before passing judgment. Just click the youtube link. Watch how the audience knows the words and adores the band.
We can then get back to some fun Anti-Palin songs. Sorry about this diversion, but I just love the Boston nightclub music scene, not to mention our sports. As Sarah would say, “Let’s have a shout out to the 2009 NCAA Hockey Champion Boston University Terriers”
Just watched the speech- my god did she bash her “adversaries” up here! She took every shot she could get at those who don’t support her.
I agree with KTUU- it seems more a campaign speech than one about abortion.
You had me at “Imagine there’s no Sarah.”
Lynnerockets, I loved the J. Geils Band! And my sister did, also, too! The made it all the way to CA, at least to LA and SF areas that I can attest to.
Lynnerockets, I’ve asked one of the moderators if he can put us in touch with each other over on the forum. These songs of yours are great!
That was a TERRIFIC rendition of Imagine! I especially liked
“Imagine all Alaskans Living life in peace…”
Pinch me? Is she gone yet?
I remember Freeze Frame! Hubby remembers Love Stinks.
http://www.jgeils.com/jgeilshistory.html
@ Martha
That youtube version was terrific. Much better than mine.
This song is slower and somewhat lame but what can you expect of drunk Irish-person on a Friday night in Boston?
By the way if I can possibly figure out how to post a link to the J. Geils Band, I assure you that it’s well worth watching. They are a seventies Boston band that wasn’t famous anywhere else other than Detroit, but I assure you that they are terrific and are making a comeback. The frontman/lead singer is Peter Wolf. Watch them and see how a real rock and roll band plays.
IMAGINE
(Sung to the John Lennon song “Imagine”)
Imagine there’s no Sarah
She’s in a doublewide
No more winks and blinks
No Bristol the child bride
Imagine all Alaskans
Living life in peace…
(Aye-hi-hi-i-i-i…)
Imagine “thanks but no thanks”
Was never said at all
There was no “Joe the Plumber”
She stayed at City Hall
Imagine Americans
Spared from Sarah P….
(You-hoo-oo-oo-oo)
You may say that we’re dreamers
But we’re having tons of fun
The First Dude claims she’s a screamer
And she’s certainly no nun
Imagine a “pig with lipstick”
I’m certain that you can
Remember Katie Couric
And Gibson, he’s “the Man”
Imagine all the people
Tina Fey also…
(You-hoo-oo-oo-oo)
You may say that we’re dreamers
But we’re not the only ones
Levi Johnston’s right with us
And he’s got all Sarah’s guns

Hello, hello, hello. Is there anybody out there?
Sorry about that double post. When you’re drinking, your fingers seem to have a life of their own on the keyboard.
No takers? OK, here’s one anyway.
HEY SARAH, SARAH
(sung to the Doris Day song “Que Sera Sera”)
When she was just a little girl
She asked Ted Stevens, “What will I be?”
“Will I be Guv’nor?” “Will I be Prez?”
Here’s what he said to she.
Hey, Sarah, Sarah
Don’t be so silly, silly
Stop annoying me, dear me
Hey Sarah, Sarah
What will be, will be
When she was Gov she met McCain
She asked the Maverick, what lies ahead?
“How is your cancer?” “How old are you?”
I’ll be Prez when you’re dead.
Hey, Sarah, Sarah
Let’s not jump the gun, the gun
You know that we’ve not yet won
Hey, Sarah, Sarah
You’re no fun, no fun
Her campaign went down to defeat
Now she’s the G.O.P.’s biggest doormat
Well behind Romney, behind Gingrich
She shills for “Arctic Cat”
Hey, Sarah , Sarah
You’re so damned creepy, creepy
Your career’s finished, you see
Hey, Sarah, Sarah
It’s your destiny
No takers? OK, here’s one anyway.

Hi, folks. Anybody still out here on a Friday night? It’s really late here on the east coast and it has been a really long night watching a great band. Has anybody west of the rocky mountains ever heard of the J. Geils Band? If not, please youtube them and have some fun. I’m sure by now that it is pretty evident that I’ve been out and I’ve had a few, but hey, that’s life in the big city, right?
Anybody up for some funny Palin songs?
You’re kidding, right? That WAR was listed on the official state web site as the Attorney General? Just curious: Who would have had the authority to do that, or approve it being done, before his nomination was approved? Is that supreme confidence by someone, or what? Thought it odd that he apparently used AG stationary for at least one letter …
And yes, Palin did say on at least one occasion last year that she never considered aborting her baby … Guess she suspected that changing it would create an emotional tie to her audience in Indiana. But then, it seems to be her style to say one thing and later say the opposite.
@katiebegood
The fact that she would consider having an abortion without even telling her husband speaks volumes about what kind of a person she is.
——————–
well said…and the fact that she kept her pregnancy a secret (if indeed it was HER pregnancy) from the rest of her immediate family. what a gal …what a real family values type! hidden pregnancies, marital affairs, neglected children, education-deprived…first dud really got himself a catch!
yep, I cannot believe her followers still don’t see her for what she really is.
Thanks for the explanation. I wouldn’t have known what RINO was either.
@DeeAA
It’s a play on the conservative Republicans’ reference to moderates as “RINO” – Republican in name only. GINO is Governor in name only.

Could someone please tell me what GINO means. People keep referring to Palin ( I assume) as GINO.

Governor In Name Only
As put off as I was by Palin the unprincipled and under-informed vp candidate, I am even further put off by Palin the political victim. Her protests are as hollow as “Obama pals around w/ terrorists.”
In her phone interview w/ ADN, Palin said, “the [legislators’] ‘hypocrisy’ is that the state House last year unanimously passed a citation praising Ross as a distinguished Alaskan [yadayadayada].”
That statement is stunning. Did she just intentionally convey to the world that she believes the standards for receiving the Distinguished Alaskan award are sufficiently rigorous that, by deeming a candidate worthy of that honor, the legislators have also certified that they consider that individual qualified to be the State Attorney General?? Or, on the other hand, does she not realize that she just conveyed that to the world?? Either way, it makes my head spin.
Could someone please tell me what GINO means. People keep referring to Palin ( I assume) as GINO.
AKM….”After the appropriate reaction of disbelief and horror that pulsated through the halls of the capitol building like a shock wave, Mr. Ross did what we might expect. He made stuff up.”
Lied.
Just like GINO.
High-five for Sean Cockerham! He may have singlehandedly set ADN reporters back on a trajectory to a modicum of respect. If the traditional “reporters” for traditional media don’t get back to smart analysis and criticism, the traditional media will continue to slide into oblivion….
I’ll never forget what an abysmal wishy-washy mess that CNN made of the ’08 election. Instead of challenging all the lies that came out of Palin’s mouth….they abdicated that tremendous newsworthy opportunity to the blogosphere. CNN’s idea of “balanced” news coverage was to have opposing “talking heads” spouting off their own campaign’s talking points. Utterly worthless.
Yes that is the link thanks
One of two things normally happen now: 1) nervous breakdown 2) totally over-the-top behavior.
Tee hee. Twofer.
WAR is history and Poe has a chance to get in a dig at Palin being out of the state and not doing her job. Not like people want her there to ensure WAR is confirmed. But she’s struck out three times attempting to appoint a senator. And she is also out of touch on exactly how the stimulus works.
I would so want you guys to be saying Governor Poe in 2010.
InJuneau Says:

txindygirl–no, no, the point is that a SOCCER mom believes in those things (equality, balance, higher education, and ethical fair play), but that GINO isn’t a soccer mom (nor does she play one on TV), she’s a hockey mom. And who the heck knows what they believe in…
Well said InJuneau……… I would expect that most hockey moms have a higher IQ than GINO, and have a deeper less superficial philosophy.
Regarding the picture in the ADN after the legislature had rejected WAR, the woman in the back row looks like she’s saying “Thank you God” and the woman to his left looks like she’s getting ready to bolt any minute when WAR erupts.
I did not have the stomach for her speech…hearing it at least…did she REALLY say Todd would never know or “Todd would never have to know.”? I agree with you WOW !! But then agian he wasn’t privy to the rher first VP decision.
And what would the difference be between those two statements. They both mean the same thing to me. The fact that she would consider having an abortion without even telling her husband speaks volumes about what kind of a person she is.
Ross has such a disregard for the truth that he can say that “it was only a rumor.” He also buys into the Repub belief that reporters are worthless, therefore he can say he didn’t say what he did and he will be believed over the nasty “media.” Too bad recorders are now being used. Good for the reporter!! Looks like this is the way to deal with Repub bashing.
If Todd Palin was a responsible father and husband,
he would have his wife committed.
TWWEEEEEAAAAATTTT – That’s the sound of the Palin Clarification Team gettin’ into place for their next marching orders from the MEship Palin. The conflicting messages continue pouring like sewer into the Gastineau Channel.
I was watching a jet land in Juneau and I swear I saw a pit bull with lipstick looking down at me on the airport wetlands. Scared the hell outta me.
“Sarah Palin Out of Touch and Out of Town.” “Out of her mind”, I might add, also too.
I believe all those pesty pajama-clad bloggers are part of what she runs from. Does she know there is no place safe for her shrinking bubble?
Way to go Alaska, you probably have an idea on how the lower 48 are counting on you guys to get the state on track. And for the ADN reporter, way to go man and GOOOOD job.
Bob Poe, we are counting on you for 2010 – keep up the good job and stay on track.
Congratulations Alaska for getting out of WAR.
Ross’ letter is the letter of a job candidate that knows they blew the interview.
@InJuneau and @Team Alaska
ding, ding ! hockey, yes, NOT soccer.
sorry, i have soccer on the brain. i’ve been watching the weather all day wondering if my kid’s soccer practice and game will be cancelled. my oops.
Oh that drivel?
She must have been fun as a child.
This one? http://www.adn.com/front/story/762037.html
Palin suggested lawmakers who voted no were turning their backs on voters. They rejected an attorney general, she said, who strongly supports the issues important to Alaskans — gun rights, constitutional rights and developing resources to the maximum benefit of residents.
“I think there was a lot of politics of personal destruction involved in this and that’s a shame. … I am surprised that, for some of what I believe are personal petty political reasons, some lawmakers chose not to support a candidate who fit that bill,” Palin said in a telephone interview.
Palin said the “hypocrisy” is that the state House last year unanimously passed a citation praising Ross as a distinguished Alaskan and a vocal proponent of free speech whose career has been dedicated to defending individual rights.
“The hypocrisy there is quite glaring. I believe they need to be called out on that,” Palin said. The legislature passed the citation to honor Ross’ 65 birthday.
Palin said there were lies spread about Ross. One highly publicized accusation against him was a letter written to legislators by Leah Burton, a Palin critic who used to lobby in Alaska on family issues, saying she heard Ross make offensive comments about women at a meeting in 1991. It was a claim that Ross angrily denied during his confirmation hearings.
Lisbeth: What is it called please?
SP has a big problem – her mouth. It is apparent from comments her father has made, that this is a genetic trait. She also appears to be a pathological liar or a serial liar if you want. She lies even when she doesn’t need to lie. She may very well be borderline personality disorder (my daughter is an RN and HATES these when they hit the ED – they are impossible to deal with)!!
She has a martyr complex, a narcissistic personality disorder, she has no conscience (sociopath). Alaska is all about her and only her.
What scares me is that I also believe she is dangerous. This is a person who has up to now had everything go 100% her way. She uses sex like a drug. She thinks she’s cute and that makes her get whatever she wants.
When you cross people like this, they lash out in unexpected and frequently violent ways.
Be careful up there – there is an ill wind blowing!
Sorry I don’t have the link as I am on my iPod but there is an article at ADN that speaks to a conversation with Palin (and ADN) about the ROSS confirmation. This is not the statement she put out, it’s an actual conversation. It is simply unbelievable what she says in it. Poor poor Sarah, everyone is treating her badly and it’s only because of politics she says. This is one thing I HATE about Palin! She is a martyr and has zero peronal insight. She blames everyone else and is never wrong. Sorry to say but this is a disturbed personality -someone who should not have any power because if how manipulative they are
Maybe someone could post the link or conversation? I can’t – no cut and paste on my iPod touch!
She probably did have an amnio at 16 weeks…and she would have known then that TWIG/TWERP/TWITTER had Down’s Syndrome.
The problem with SP is that she forgets what she has said. She has way too much word salad going on in that really small brain.
Someone on another post mentioned the “if you say it, it will be on You Tube” syndrome lacking in W.A.R. – it also pertains to everyone including SP.
SP is SO over her head – if she had declined the VP nomination by the McCain camp who obviously didn’t vet her (this would have included approval by Mrs. McMealticket who would have had cardiac arrest), she could have hidden all her nasty little moves from Alaskans for a longer period of time.
Like most vampires, SP can’t stand up to full exposure to sun for more than 1 minute before they die. Exposing her for who and what she is, is a death knell to her “career”. She simply cannot stand up to scrutiny.
aha–yeah, apparently when Willow first saw Trig, she said something along the lines of he looks like he has DS. Why didn’t you tell us?
And so, if a 13/14 year old knows what a DS baby looks like at first sight, how is it that GINO claims she didn’t know what he would look like when she found out he had DS? Astonishing!
Oh, and WHO was that women pictured seated to W.A.R’s right in the photo on ADN? It couldn’t be his wife, could it? That shot was priceless! I LOL when I saw it.
txindygirl–no, no, the point is that a SOCCER mom believes in those things (equality, balance, higher education, and ethical fair play), but that GINO isn’t a soccer mom (nor does she play one on TV), she’s a hockey mom. And who the heck knows what they believe in…
Yesterday our story left off with Poor Sarah falling off her Naughty Monkey high heels and onto her butt when her pick for AG was soundly rejected.
Last night she got a hand off the floor and her sore behind rubbed by a bunch of Stepford Wives and sycophants over in Indiana.
Today our scene unfolds with Sarah tap – tapping her way purposefully down the hallway. People are calling her name, paper’s are being waved, but she’s too busy winking and waving Bye to her national donors and scanning her Blackberry to see what’s coming.
“Watch out for the sliding glass door!” WHAP! Too late Sarah runs smack dab into the sliding door of Federal decision making and her dream of rampent offshore drilling has closed. THUD! Sarah’s head smacks the floor of the Legislature were they threw her 9 million dollar request for an unexplained gas pipeline project.
Damn girl, keep this up and your health insurance premiums will rise!
I submit this as further evidence that teabaggers have become a common joke:
I got an email advertisement today from BookingBuddy.com, a bargain travel website. The subject line is “No Taxation Without Vacation! Super-Low Prices!”
my bad with words today, I should prof read.
Take care of the planet ourselves, waiting for GOD to take care of the planet do it is a irresponsible behavior.
Didn’t Palin say Piper or Willow discovered Trig had DS when they saw him in the hospital?
I’m confused did she tell a fat ass lie in her speech with that amnio ds discovery tale?
Clue me in, please.
Another great post. You always keep me peeking in, bit it at lunch on the sly, or guilt free at home. Thanks for the blogging!
Gino will come back with a more moderate campaign. Sure, she got recharge with her Pro-Life supporters in Indiana , but the fact of the matter is she is on a sinking ship with her political career in Alaska. Especial with her drill baby drill mantra.
Renewable energy is going to be the catalyst for jobs, education, vocational training, and economic growth for the planet.
The sooner we develop off shore/on shore wind power, solar, hydro, and GEO thermal power the better. The quicker we work with our local electrical power co-ops developing net metering, and grid/renewable energy systems, the faster we will recover from this coming global depression.
With affordable renewable energy options globally available, we will be able to make fresh water and build back are locally produced food resources, in controlled environments.
Plants are like people, take away there environmental stress, feed them when they are hungry, hydrate them when they are thirsty, and they will bloom and produce beautiful fruit.
Its all pretty easy science, common logic, and ethical. We have to take care of the plant and all its people. The days of population explosion will only be solved with better education, with better education comes common logic.
When abortions were illegal…they still happened.
And for that ‘choice’ to have crossed her mind, even for a fleeting second…she’s a hypocritical Christian..who shouldn’t profess ANYTHING to ANYBODY.

I sent a ‘Thank You’ e-mail to ALL rep’s and Senators for the rejection of Ross nomination. I’m not sure about the other 22, but one response I received from a representative said,
“The vote was difficult, in the end; I based my vote on personal experiences. I did speak with Mr. Ross on the phone challenging him on the testimony and comments we were receiving from the public. (I served briefly on the Alaska Veterans Museum with Mr. Ross.) My district may have supported Mr. Ross’s confirmation more than others; we have many veterans in our community who know Mr. Ross.”
That was the reason for that representative voting in favor of Mr. Ross.
I wanted to ask her about the pesky issue of ‘legal vs. illegal’ and lying about statements but I chose to write back thanking the representative for taking the time in responding and I wished her a lovely day.
Interesting and very sad arguement on reason for voting in favor.

i agree. and i deeply empathize with her on this. like i said. i was in the same boat.
i don’t fault her for her struggle over this. i fault her for her being a phony. she’s had a platform of NO CHOICE since the mayoral races. now we find out she considered abortion while at the same time campaigning far and wide on the virtues of ONLY ONE CHOICE. she was dishonest because it was politically expedient. ironically, she may have won over many more women had she started out being truthful and sincere. that would have made us want to hug her instead of throwing tomatoes at her.
It’s amusing, for lack of a better word, that all of WAR’s name-calling like “degenerates”, supremacist attitudes, and rape talk wouldn’t be the deciding factor in their vote against him…it was the legal vs illegal comment…but, hey, whatever works! Thank God it was on tape, since it seems WAR is an accomplished liar!

That must have been in December, when Alaska days are very short.
Nice to know that among his other disqualifications for the AG job, he’s a liar.
Speaking of which, Rebekkah, don’t make too much out of SP saying she didn’t tell Todd that Trig had DS. Anything she says with respect to her supposed pregnancy with Trig is fictional, crafted for maximum dramatic impact. So our heroine is all alone (as if she had no husband) and faced with an agonizing “choice” (as if one who believes abortion is murder can have a choice). She is buying love with checks written on a bogus account, and the bank of reality is starting to bounce them.

The problem, she was allowed and gave thought to the ‘choice’, yet now takes the position that no one else should be allowed the same ‘choice’. I see it equivalent to a dictatorship.
@honestyinGov – small correction: Les Gara voted NAY, Jay Ramras voted for W.A.R.
Does this mean that we won’t get “The Hummer” designated as Alaska’s State Vehicle?
Dang!
My beef with Palin is not that she thought about abortion. It’s the fact that she and Bristol both chose to have their babies. They go out of the way to emphasize this. Good for them. It’s what they decided was best for themselves. Palin (Sarah) doesn’t want other women to have that same choice. You know, when you only have one option, it’s not a choice at all.
To #65 – “honestyinGov” — I agree, it’s about GINO’s credibility in picking WAR. Just as the 2008 election was about McCain’s credibility in picking GINO.
let it run – I would need to listen again but I distinctly remember her saying that at some point “only her doctor knew”. Even before that, she said that she found out about the pregnancy while she was out of town and “no one knew then”. She did say that Todd would not know at some point…it is all just running together in my mind.
Curiously, that particular segment of her talk wasn’t on YouTube when I looked. Does anyone know where to find that?
As big as this WAR appointment was for the AG is is also about the GINO’s credibility in picking him. It is even MORE about her. Last night, since I had already gotten caught up with all the other blogs I went over to the C4Pee website to see what was the hot topic.
I had a hard time finding a thread about it…. since this was really the biggest story of the day. (it reflects on GINO)
Hardly a thing was written and there were a total of ‘ 6 comments ‘… whaaaa?
Not much to talk about Huh. They even bashed Les Gara a lot on another story about how he was was going after GINO and it was all unfair. They said ” We need to go after Him ” In the end though, Gara even voted ‘FOR’ WAR.
( I wonder if they are STILL going to go after him…. now..?)
They even had the Nelson Letter (as another story) where he was removing his name for the Juneau seat in that letter to Palin. When I saw it posted on ADN, it was a verrrry long letter and about 4-5 paragraph’s long. They showed the top two paragraphs… but the bottom of the letter was missing… Hmmm. If the letter is relevant why not post it… in it’s entirety….. so all the ‘ facts ‘ are reported. Did the other 2 paragraphs not fit the story they were trying to ‘spin’..?
The famous line from “The X-Files ” was.. “the truth is out there” .
I guess C4P were NOT fans…. or they can’t handle the truth.

So, what happens now? Can she appoint an AG when the legislature is out of session? Or does the assistant AG become acting AG? Just curious.
I think AK should start the ball rolling on electing their AGs. This way the AG is accountable to the citizens and not the governor.
Just a few thoughts on her Indiana speech:
– is there anybody she missed bashing
– patronizing, “you know seals in the ocean, well we have ’em in lakes” Don’t know why she felt the need to explain about seals.
– first 10-15 minutes a travelogue for the state of AK, felt like an infomerical for AK
– lied about oil and natural gas resources, again
– listed gifts received from IN…chocolates, doughnuts, hockey stick…shoulda held out for cash
– what is Alaskana goodwill…is that a real term?
– lied about strings on stim money, again
– doesn’t the US government fund and maintain military/missile defense sites, not individual states?
– hand gestures very distracting and her tonal inflections are just weird
– she needs to learn to use a teleprompter to prevent all that looking down she does
– needs a hairstylist
– when did IN become the crossroads of America?
I see that we need to write a PSA for all the poor politicians who don’t know about the invention of a little thing called the tape recorder. Or who don’t know about the bunch of tubes called the interwebs.

“At one point, someone complimented her hand-painted clogs. “Cute shoes,” the person said. Ms. Palin responded, …“I may not be able to tell you who paints them or I may be charged with an ethics violation or something.”

How cute! The Governor gave a little shout-out to Romney. (Dansko Romney, not politician Romney.) Nice. Romney doesn’t mind at all. She’s had Palin on her website for a looong time. And she likes a bit of attention and drama. [Now there’s an interview…] http://www.romneydesigns.com/
No, Governor, not an ethics issue…unless you had some kind of contractual obligation with Romney for advertising.
Her statement to the NY Times is a turning point/milestone for me. While I’ve tracked the Governor’s actions, it’s always been from judicious evaluative position, with an eye to fairness. I don’t mind a “spunky” “breath of fresh air” approach. I certainly don’t mind a politician stepping out of the box and doing it differently. All along, I’ve been careful to avoid making assumptions, considering the source of the info, and fact-checking before I made up my mind; always wondering if there might be more to the story. I don’t mind someone less sophisticated; there’s some real power in genuine honesty without trappings. I thought that if she’s the ‘real thing’ she would have the capacity to grow into the job and fulfil potential.
I’ve never had a preconceived critical perception, or looked for ‘dirt’ on Sarah Palin, wife, mother, Chuck and Sally’s daughter, from Wasilla. It’s not personal. My scrutiny has been of the Alaska political scene and the action of the Governor of the State of Alaska. Nothing different than any other administration, any other time.
Here’s the thing – Sarah, the person, had a broad base of supporters across Alaska, crossing all party lines, socioeconomics, ethnicities, industries, etc. Alaska has a long history of voting the individual rather than party, and less partisanship to its politics than most places. People were excited and eager for her success.
In the role of a Vice-Presidential nominee, and then Governor, she’s been losing that support. Borrowing rhetoric from outstates politics, the Governor delivered lessons on partisan politics and blows to her supporters. In action, the Governor has hopelessly squandered the approval of Alaska’s citizens. From all parties. And she can’t get it back.
A few genuine ‘ooops’ moments along the way are no big deal. But the statement to the New York Times illustrates her mindset and intentions. Probably nothing more than a snotty smart-ass comment made off the cuff, she doesn’t realize the far-reaching impact of such a statement. Or more likely – she really doesn’t care.
It reveals calculated disingenuous responses and behavior. Mrs. Palin knows perfectly well what sponsorships and endorsements are; she didn’t need any explanations on how that might not be appropriate, she knows. And she always has.
The same thing with the campaign clothing issue. I looked for excuses to give her a pass, but there aren’t any. I thought that she possibly wasn’t educated about campaign finance rules and she could be forgiven for that. Any thinking person would have some ’spidey-sense’ and wonder if if it was all okay and appropriate. If you genuinely didn’t know, you’d ask. But as an “experienced” politician, she had to have known. She not only ran for office, but she was the whistle-blower for someone else’s ethics.
She didn’t care. She thought she’d get away with it.
She’s not going to own it-she’s going to keep on being mean about it. To us, her constituents. She’s got no sympathy for the rules that the rest of us MUST live by, whether we like them or not, or we’ll lose jobs.
Mrs. Palin, you’ve betrayed the confidence and loyalty of so many Alaskans. People who supported you on a personal level and because of old-fashioned Alaska connections and relationships that YOU used to your advantage while campaigning – the Palin family, Todd’s grandmother, the connection to Dillingham and Homer, commerical fishing, the church and the Native card. We really trusted you, Sarah. In a personal way. You’ve done nothing to return that honor, and worse, you’ve done harm.
I think that you forget that you wouldn’t have been elected Governor without us.
No, it saddens me that you’re just one more politician with the same old attitude. You are a card-carrying member and continuing the tradition of the “Corrupt Bastards Club”.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/04/17/steve-schmidt-mccain-camp_n_188354.html
Speaking publicly for one of the first times since the end of the presidential campaign, John McCain’s campaign manager Steve Schmidt painted a dire portrait of the state of the Republican Party, arguing that the GOP has largely been co-opted by its religious elements.
“If you put public policy issues to a religious test, you risk becoming a religious party,” Schmidt declared. “And in a free country, a political party cannot be viable in the long term if it is seen as a sectarian party.”
The remarks came in a passionate, roughly 20-minute speech before the Log Cabin Republican’s national convention, in which Schmidt laid out the case for a far more open party — one which did not consider gay marriage to be a “litmus test” issue. And while he made it a purpose not to offend social conservatives — they “remain an indispensable part of the Republican coalition,” he said — Schmidt did not hide his concerns that religion had become the predominant thread of the GOP

And, I was really shocked by SP’s Indiana for Life speech, where she shared about Trig’s arrival……words like sanctity of life, her prayers and her heart (paraphrasing here) overflowed with joy….felt a love she never felt before…..a compassion she didn’t know was there. —-All I could think of was how her other children, Piper, Willow, Track, Bristol would feel if they heard that, hurt I imagine. Let’s say a democratic governor had nominated an AG candidate who had a record of making public anti-gun remarks. If said candidate during confirmation hearings said, “No problem. My personal beliefs will not interfere with my duties as AG,” what would the conservative right say and, more importantly, how would they VOTE on the confirmation?
Personally I think people are more important than guns.
@ Rob in Ca
“She’s gonna make it as difficult as she can for the poor Juneau residents to get a representative they want and deserve.”
She detests Juneau and always has! What she didn’t count on is that many Juneauites are extremely moderately blue, and at one time she actually had quite a bit of support here. She’s blown that – so I guess she’s not interested in running for gov in 2010. I’ve been chatting to some of these very moderate progressives and Republican voters, and the consensus so far is that she’s a big baby and is quickly losing support where she had it. She’s so transparently not interested in Alaska outside of her Valley Bubble.
Another Alaskan here stated in an earlier post that the more people they talked to, the more the poster found that previous supporters were “waking up”. I think this is true. I don’t think a recall will happen, though (since everyone keeps asking). Partly because our state is kind of shell shocked from all this attention and controversy and a lot of us just want to go back to the way we were – invisible mostly to everyone else, and loved by visitors. We are good hosts, but we aren’t very used to all of this hoopla. Therefore, a recall would just tear things up here more than they are already. That’s my take on it.
Alaskans are getting ready for spring, and this is like a state wide party except that everyone is really spread out. Alaskans right now want to be OUTDOORS – even when it’s still darn cold in many regions. There is a lot to DO! Cruise ships will be in Juneau very soon now, and the town shifts into a different gear after the Legislature adjourns. In the fall, if things get weird, then maybe the idea will be revisited.
Oh this is funny! Until this morning, Texas was listed on the State Dept. website as one of the foreign countries Hillary had visited, right between Turkey and Switzerland.

Lori in Los Angeles:
Great catch on Sarah lying about considering abortion!!
I personally don’t think it is a problem to consider that – morals are about the decisions we make not the things we consider doing. I don’t think that is inconsistent with her anti-choice stance (and I take it the audience didn’t hold it against her, either).
But I sure DO have a problem with her changing the story. She either lied last night, or she lied in August.
It’s kinda like WAR. It was one thing to be just WRONG in his ‘legal’ opinion on the nomination process. But it was a whole other, bigger thing to LIE about what he had said, and I think if there is one single thing that doomed his nomination, that was it.
This is what bugs me:
She claims the absolutist pro-life position that there is NO CHOICE. It’s been part of her political platform since her mayoral race, at least.
Yet, she allowed herself the luxury of making that choice…. while denying that choice to others. Talk about zero compassion for others.
I have to wonder if the criteria for her choice included political considerations.
Bad news everywhere for the Repubs.

If Palin had stayed at work during the last week of the legislative session, Ross likely wouldve been confirmed. If Palin had appointed Egan to the state senate, an appointment hailed by both democratic and republican legislators, Ross likely wouldve been confirmed. Instead, she repeatedly sent up appointments of individuals who had just changed their voter registration to democratic in obvious ploys to get the job. She flew off and left Ross dangling. Palin has no interest in governing, which calls for negotiation, guidance, maturity and compromise. Her only interest is to stir up enough right wing controversy to keep herself the darling of the wingnut right – keep that base happy. Palin tossed Alaska aside months ago. Get over it.
3.2 mag 37 miles from Cantwell – GINO back in the state?
@Lori. I think point 2 is very telling because she was clearly thinking rationally about the possibility of abortion. Now whether you agree with thoughts she had about what she would do or not, I find it very telling that someone so opposed would have thought even that far ahead into the process.
It’s like the whole deal with Bristol. Whatever her views are about anything, none of it applies to her. We shouldn’t even consider abortions, but it’s OK for her to do so.
According to news outlets, she said (in Indiana) that she considered abortion when she found out she was pregnant with son, Trig. However, according to the Boston Globe (August 28, 2008) Governor Palin said she “never considered ending the pregnancy”.
Palin will be flying back to Alaska rabid as a pitbull with lipstick can be, so expect lots of foam to come pouring out of her mouth.
I’m looking forward to Alaska telling her to just go away and leave them alone.
Good riddance to another blatant liar. Sean Cockerham – thank you! Since he lied so quickly and so unashamedly in this instance, I can’t trust any of the other rebuttals he made there, too also, up here in Alaska! Sorry – Sarah Salad Speak is just a little fun sometimes because it’s like those awful songs that you can’t get out of your head so you just have to spit it out!
I know! We can start a game of “Sarah Says” – no wait, no, that would be too painful.
Yup, she’s all fired up and ready to go, I bet. She’ll be feeling all full of herself after all the warm fuzzy adulation from her most loyal one-issue supporters. And she is going to arrive back in Alaska ready to play mama grizzly and defend her Juneau cubs from those mean-spirited Democrats who keep wanting to play by the rules that every previous Governor abided by.
She’s gonna make it as difficult as she can for the poor Juneau residents to get a representative they want and deserve.
So while Alaska has state needs that must be addressed not only by the legs but by the Gov. herself, she finds it preferable to be clinging to a tattered national profile. It’s obvious that governing is way beyond her ability. It’s also obvious that the state and it’s people suffer because of her ineffectiveness. She fails to understand that for the good of Alaska’s future many things need to be addressed, started, discussed and worked on now. Otherwise in the years after Palin’s gone Alaska will find itself behind the eight ball.
It just floors me that she can’t comprehend that governing involves working with everyone in the legislature for the good of all Alaskans. Governing is not some pet project one does when one has nothing better to do. It’s not for self aggrandizement. It’s supposed to be the job of a public servant elected to serve all that reside in Alaska. Instead she serves some ethereal Palin version of Alaska, not the reality of where Alaska is today and where Alaska needs to go in the future.
Oh, I have no doubt Palin’s name will go down in Alaska history. It’s just won’t be for anything positive that actually put Alaska and Alaska’s future first. I feel for all Alaskans that have to deal with this inept politician.
Two telling things to me in last night’s word saldad, er speech:
1. Sarah admits to briefly thinking about abortion (fine, she is human) – but couldn’t she have said that to her pastor or her girlfriend? I cannot imagine how Trig will feel if he ever sees that tape – this is not something to say on a world stage – ugh.
2. She said if she DID abort, “Todd would never know.” I find that VERY telling – keeping such a secret from your spouse? Not discussing such a thing with the father of the baby? Lying by omission to your spouse? wow.
She DOESN’T blink when accepting a nomination WAY above her pay grade….Even though thoughtful consideration would have been a sign of good judgment.
She DOES blink when she finds out she’s got a not-so-perfect, tiny, defenseless life in her womb.
She’s lied so much to craft her Christian soccer mom persona, it’s no surprise things aren’t beginning to compute. It’s only because she’s been so holier-than-everybody that I even fault her. Otherwise, my heart goes out to anyone in such a position. I had my surprise baby at 40 years old, so I’ve been through the fears.
Some have said she turned on the waterworks at will during her performance last night. I see poor little Trig is still a campaign prop. I fault her for that too.
Palin hoped she was showing liedership* when she made claims about Ross’s excellent qualifications. Ross exhibited liedership* when he claimed never having made certain statements. Both were certainly very disappointed when media called them on their lies. Here’s to the real leaders, the politicians who called Palin’s and Ross’s bluffs, and to the people behind the scenes who made sure the truth got out!
* from urban dictionary: ” What a leader shows when knowingly expressing a falsehood that’s then disseminated by the mainstream media and the leaders underlings.”
Thanks for the new thread. Ann says hello. sarah is quickly becoming irrelevant on the national level except to the few blind followers. Glad to see the Leg. stand up to her lame B.S.

Question: Who, after WAR, is the next-worst bigot, homophobe, woman hater and gun nut who is unfortunately licensed to practice law in AK?
Answer: Palin’s next AK attorney general appointee!
Alaska has turned the corner and is headed towards the Progressive light at the end of the tunnel. Conservatives, Moderates, and Liberals all came together on this decision, and Palin’s selection of WAR, her demmented attempts to force Juneau to accept Faux Dem representation in the Senate, and her complete break from reality have driven an informal yet galvanized opposition to her Sairytale politics.
There will still be challenges and compromises to come. But the fact is, this one action is proof that Alaska has awakened from the nightmare of Palinism. Welcome to a new Progressive morning of rational behavior.
I’d change the title to “Sarah Palin – from outter space.”
Has the bint left Indiana yet? I want to know if it is safe to leave the farm for groceries.
I hear a chihuahua yipping in the distance. Sarah, Dear? Is that you?
You know, pit bulls snarling and slobbering and barking are not really all that attractive. I think people will start to realize that ‘pit-bull’ behavior is not really very effective when it comes to actually governing.
Another perfect post, dear AKM. And Poe is so right.
I think were going to see a pitbull with lipstick get off that afternoon flight. Get ready, for it’s gonna come at you hot and heavy.
palin and ross can’t handle the truth
Oh wow, pretty new thread!
