The NRA Board – It’s WAR!
Wayne LaPierre, the Executive Vice President and CEO of the National Rifle Association has been front and center in the public discussion about gun rights, and gun control. His extremist rhetoric has drawn criticism, and he’s become an iconic symbol of what progressives believe to be a tone-deaf and radical agenda in which “the only thing that can stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.” LaPierre may be the one most often in front of the cameras, but the board of the National Rifle Association actually has 76 directors who call the shots,…
Prevo divorce documents raise questions about Anchorage Baptist Temple house
by Mel Green Court documents in the divorce of Allen Prevo, son of Anchorage Baptist Temple pastor Jerry Prevo, and Holly Jo Prevo raise questions about ABT religious exemption housing. Or, in the judge’s words, “if there was a tax appraiser or a reporter from the Anchorage Daily News, things would not look good… it’s pretty loosey-goosey to me.” Citing Alaska Statute § 25.20.120, which provides the option of sealing court records in proceedings involving child custody, attorney Wayne Anthony Ross on August 3 filed a motion to seal the records in the case of Allen Prevo v. Holly…
WAR and Eddie Burke in the Same Room. (Updated with Notes)
None other than Alaska’s ex-almost-Attorney General Wayne Anthony Ross will be the special guest on KBYR with Eddie “you’re all a bunch of socialist baby-killing maggots” Burke today. If you’re into some crazy dark energy, tune in! He’s scheduled to be on at 4:00pm Alaska time. (5pm Pacific, 8pm Eastern) You can Listen Live HERE. Annnnd, if you’re feeling brave, you can call in! 907-274-5297 for locals, and toll free 866-610-5297. ************************************************************** Here’s my paraphrasing from notes I took while listening in the car. You’ll get the idea. Burke welcomed Ross and then a “Breaking News” flash. The ethics complaint…
Palin Explains Ross’ Defeat – It’s the Bloggers, Stupid.
We all know that Governor Palin was quite taken with the idea of having Wayne Anthony Ross as her new Attorney General. He apparently had all the things Alaskans look for in a candidate for the head of the Department of Law. “I believed I knew what Alaskans wanted when I selected an individual who is a strong backer of 2nd Amendment rights, a staunch supporter of the state Constitution and a defender of life,” Governor Palin said. “Wayne Anthony Ross supports responsible, ethical development of Alaska’s rich resources. And we all know that for the first time ever, a…
Sarah Palin Out of Touch and Out of Town.
Alaskans are picking themselves up and dusting themselves off today after dodging the bullet that was the appointment of Wayne Anthony Ross for Alaska’s Attorney General. Relief is the word of the day. There were many factors leading to the demise of this nomination; the fact that he called gays “degenerates” in the Bar Newsletter, the condemnation by every major Native organization, the report of comments that can only be described as sexist and misogynistic at meetings and panel discussions, but the final nail in the coffin for several of those “nay” votes may have been the most awesome “gotcha” moment…
Les Gara on Wayne Anthony Ross.
As you might guess, I will vote against Mr. Ross today, and the vote will be close, if it happens. There is a chance, if he doesn’t have the votes, that the Legislature will not vote on him at all and just call for a new nominee. I’ve worked at the AG’s office, under Republican AGs whose politics I’ve disagreed with. A good AG, like those I worked for, puts their politics to the side, and stands up for every Alaskan. Wayne Anthony Ross is probably good man, on a personal level. I don’t know him. But he has expressed…
What Wayne Anthony Ross Thinks About Gay Alaskans.
Here’s a quick reprint from Bent Alaska. The vote on Ross’ confirmation is scheduled to take place today. [Sarah Palin’s Attorney General Nominee Wayne Anthony] Ross wrote a letter to the Alaska Bar Rag in March 1993 in response to an appeal from “Lawyers Against Discrimination,” a group that opposed the repeal of a non-discrimination ordinance, approved by the Anchorage Assembly, which prohibited the Municipality from employment discrimination on the basis of “sexual preference.” “It was a big messy battle in Anchorage in late 1992/early 1993,” writes Mel Green. “The ordinance was ultimately rescinded.” Discrimination on the basis of sexual…
