Happy Valentine’s Day, Mudpuppies.
May your day be full of love, friendship, and that special surge of productivity that comes from viewing excessive cuteness.
Happy Valentine’s Day, my fellow mudpuppies! The tradition started with the Romans (or possibly pre-Romans), who called it Lupercalia, and celebrated from February 13th to 15th. They based it on their observations of nature; today was the usual day birds began courting in preparation for mating in the spring.
I think those Shar Pei pups could not be cuter. Years ago, my milliner created a hat collection I admired. The pilgrim hat had a brim folded like a shar pei, and that’s what she called it. I said, “I want the mushroom crown with the shar pei brim, but I want the mushroom crown “shar peid” as well. She did what I asked, and I own the most beautiful grey winter hat in the world. When I lent it (on her behalf, for the Contemporary section) to the Philadelphia Museum of Fine Art’s “Hats!” exhibit years ago, a guard was standing right next to it, because mine was the one hat everyone wanted to touch. Unfortunately, the museum took several months to return it to me, and I had to make do with my other, less toasty hats. I survived.
Sounds loverly! Picture?
