Chef Ramsay Expert Salmon Filleter?
I have to admit, my one reality TV guilty pleasure is Kitchen Nightmares with Chef Ramsay. I think I’ve seen every episode at least once. I’m not sure what gets me in the show, but it’s addictive.
So when I saw this video on YouTube, I immediately clicked it – Chef Ramsay and salmon… two of my favorite things.
Since shamefully, I have never actually filleted a salmon, I’m not 100% sure how good he is. So Alaskans – can you do it better than this sometimes-rude British chef?
*warning, I’m not certain if this is Alaskan salmon or not. But either way – remember to support the No Pebble Campaign.
First picture of Ramsay looks like a pissed off Peter O’Toole trapped in the Twilight Zone.
I remember that episode of Master Chef. Gordon’s shows are highly entertaining. While I disagree with him on one basic premise — that “the protein is the hero of the dish” — that’s because I’m vegan. I watch cooking shows for entertainment and ideas, but since I eat neither flesh (or its products like eggs and dairy) nor wheat, the inspiration I get most often is for the things TV chefs dismiss as “sides.”
For anyone who has not yet taken action to say NO to Pebble Mine, which would be a disaster for Alaskans and the world’s finest salmon, here’s the link:

Yummmm bones i love picking bones out of my fish. Ramsay is a colossal ass. You dont need to be an ass to be a good chef. Somehow it seems colossal asses are the only ones who hire chefs.
Great job filleting. I’m not sure why he bothers taking the scales off. I don’t know anybody who scales their fish. It’s also too bad to see him throw away the thin pieces. No reason to not cook those too, but I get that he wants a perfect looking fillet.
As for the idea that salmon shouldn’t be cooked all the way through, that’s just balderdash that turns people away from salmon. You don’t want to dry it out, but I don’t care how famous the chef is, 85% of the people who I’ve ever served salmon to drastically prefer it cooked “well done”. Maybe you could call it medium well, but definitely it should be cooked all the way through.
If you want sushi, eat sushi, otherwise cook the fish. It’s better that way.
Agree. Belly meat is the best part of the fish.
