Why Did John McCain Choose Palin?

Books have been written, movies have been filmed, pundits have… pundicized. But no one really knew the answer to the most asked question of the 2008 Presidential campaign.

Why the f*** did John McCain choose then Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his running mate? Well, he finally answered that question on (of all places) Late Night with Seth Meyers.

Check it out.

Not sure why I watched that clip… this old fart makes my skin crawl and raises my blood pressure every time! (I had heard elsewhere what he said, so I knew what was coming.) Guess I just needed to torture myself by listening to his creepy voice! You could have spared me that with a transcript. 🙂

But, “Next time you’re on your app, go to mccain.com.”??? Next time you’re on your app???
Stupid old man needs to pack it in and enjoy Sedona for the rest of his miserable life!! But first, especially in light of how horribly the mean and ugly has taken over Sista Sarah, he needs to come clean and apologize to America for dumping that trash on us.

You know, people like ADN commentator Shane Holt continue to complain that folks won’t let up on Palin i.e.. “And the obsession of Palin continues among those who just cant seem to get over it. Hilarious.”

But the question I have for Mr. Holt is, what in the world do you expect, when she continues to make widely publicized statements like this: “Waterboarding is how we baptize terrorists”

I believe that the movie “Game Change” is about the most accurate portrayal as to what was taking place within the McCain camp during the Palin era. The real Steve Schmidt, McCain’s campaign manager, pretty much answered the question as to “why” they picked her when he said that: “He was part of the team that made the decision in real life, but that conversations in the film did take place back during the race.” “I think the notion of Sarah Palin being President of the United States is something that frightens me, frankly. And I played a part in that. And played a part in that because we were fueled by ambition to win.”

I don’t have sound, but I can hazard a pretty good guess and that was before I read some of the comments!

I lifted this from a different forum:

You can choose different years and see the wheel spin & the numbers. Lots of distracting fun!

BREAKING NEWS…..my secret sources have uncovered this extortive video that proves beyond any doubt the lengths Snookie was willing to go to to become McCain’s running mate. Watch closely,if you dare,as McCain(the little white pasty guy) is tortured until………….I can’t say it. Just watch.

Because Spiro Agnew, J Danforth Quayle and Gerald Ford all had previous engagements?

  6. mike from iowa says:

Had to be the offer of moose bisque Snookie promised to serve McCain in the White House after they won the election. Well you see how that worked out. Word on the street says Bass Pro Shops wants to sign Palin to an exclusive deal for fly fishing customers. One randomly drawn brave soul gets to inform her highness that Tina Fey is much more talented and the rest of the guys get to pluck genuine enraged, mama grizzly hackle from Palin’s back

  7. Millie says:

Tina Fey did a great job mimicking Sarah Palin. And, Katie Couric provided one of the better interviews that was done w/Palin. Both women showed how inept Sarah Palin would have been as VP! And, we’ve learned far more about her since then which has shown she’ll never hold office again. Quitting as Governor of Alaska was one of her biggest mistakes, but she also has committed many others throughout the past ten years which can be found in following her records and life in Alaska.

    • Beaglemom says:

It’s interesting that it took women to nail Sarah Palin’s inadequacy for the job. I think many men were just smitten with the red jacket, tight skirt and phony smile.

  8. I See Villages From My House says:

Tina was popular as the Weekend Update co-anchor on SNL, while starring in, and executive producing NBC’s sitcom 30 Rock. Don’t think it’s the only reason why she’s famous.

She shared in an NPR interview: One of her favorite guest hosts was Arizona Sen. John McCain. “Sometimes when you have a person all-the-way not an actor, it’s just delightful to watch them be game and try,” she says. “We all liked him tremendously.”

In 2004, Fey and McCain did a nonpartisan get-out-the-vote photo shoot for Life magazine in Washington, D.C., and McCain gave both Fey and her husband a tour of the Capitol.

“[SNL creator] Lorne Michaels always reminds me that Sen. McCain has that [photo] framed in his office,” she says. “[Lorne] thinks subliminally that that’s why he liked Sarah Palin when he saw her — because he was used to looking at me standing next to him in that picture.”

On the criticism she got for playing Sarah Palin

“You can find this freshly posted as of yesterday. ‘She should be ashamed of what she did to Sarah Palin,’ which I think is a discredit to both me and former Gov. Palin. She’s not fragile. And I’m not mean. And to imply otherwise is a disservice to us both. No one ever said, ‘Oh, that Will Ferrell. He should be ashamed of the way he’s conducting himself playing George W. Bush.’ No one would ever say that.”

But I think we are all glad it all fell out the way it did.

Curious to know why the CIA never noticed just how BIG Putin’s head is. You can see that puppy from outer space. Lark a mercy me,people. His head is ginormous!!

  10. mike from iowa says:

I see senile ol’ McCain got his web address wrong. It is not McCain.com,it is McCaindumb fu@k.

  11. Alaska Pi says:

    🙂

  12. Zyxomma says:

I sat through 5 minutes of Seth Meyers for that? That’s five minutes of my life I’ll never get back. Thanks, but no thanks. Total waste.

  13. Really? says:

I’m not surprised at John McCain’s answer. One guy I knew voted for the quitter half gov because he thought
she was good looking. Sometimes people think with their brain and sometimes they don’t.

    • Carol says:

Sometimes people (guys) think with their heads; sometimes they think with their other heads. At least a guy I know told me that.

      • mike from iowa says:

No offense, but the hole in the end of their stem is to allow oxygen to get to their other brain. Proven fact. 🙂
