Open Thread: Weekend At Brian’s

BrianAndCrabThis fellow was not that pleasant. One might say he was crabby. The locals here in Cape Cod are usually much friendlier. The tide was on it’s way in so Brian bid his adieu and move on to some sight seeing.

Sioux Gateway Airport in Sioux City, iowa recorded the wettest June ever by nearly five inches in 2014. 16.65 inches compared to 11.78 inches in 1903.

My newest(last fall) Elberta peach tree was snapped off overnight. I don’t know, yet, what happened, but the main trunk was broken off about three feet above ground. We had thunder, lightning and some rain overnight. I don’t remember any wind although I saw a few other trees in the vicinity that are down. Bummer. If this one survives it will probably bush out like the one I started from seed 10 years ago and raggits ate it to the ground 2 or 3 years in a row. Neither tree put out much for leaves this spring, another mystery to solve. Dang it!

    Raining again,some more,too still yet.

Here’s a great letter, by a disabled veteran, to Dick Cheney and George Bush:

    IMHO, it’s a must-read.

Singer, guitarist Bobby Womack passed at age 70.Another irreplaceable part of the picture has gone missing.

  6. Zyxomma says:

Chester Nez, the last of the WWII Navajo codetalkers, has died at 93. He wrote a book about his experiences.

The Navajo Nation’s flags have been ordered lowered to half-mast.

Here’s a good laugh for you Brian. Teabagger Chris McDaniels of Miss. is threatening to sue because he lost the wingnut primary to incumbent Thad Cichran thanks to Dems crossover votes. McDaniel purely does not like Dems and lo and behold the Clarion Ledger of Jackson,Miss. has reported that McDaniel hisownself voted as a Dem in 2003 primary. OOPS!
