Open Thread – Climate Change March
I’m in NYC right now covering the Climate Change March. I’ve already met people from Texas, California and even Guatemala and they’re all here to tell the United Nations to take immediate action on climate change. You can find out more about tomorrows march at peoplesclimate.org/march/
Will you be participating in local marches? What’s going on in your area environmentally?
Well, it doesn’t fit in with the theme of this open thread, but it IS an open thread so I’m adding this:

If it was already a topic here I missed the discussion entirely. I’m horrified.
Go team!
I’m here in NYC, too, Zach. Not all that long ago, I thought perhaps I was getting too old for this stuff, but I’ll be marching tomorrow. For anyone planning to join us, it will be about 80 degrees F tomorrow — the heat is coming back for the last day of summer — so do bring water. A snack’s a good idea, too. Remember, since the Giuliani era, crowd control barriers (a/k/a French barriers) are in use at every demonstration, rally, speech, etc. Find a bathroom or port-a-potty before you join in; you’ll get no opportunity to leave once we’re underway. Everyone, stay safe, and do nothing to antagonize the police; they’ll use any excuse to instigate violence. Health and peace.
