Death Threats, Swear Words and Hostage Negotiations… Alaska’s Republicans on Social Media

Sen. Lisa Murkowski and Rep. Don Young are both in an odd position during the government shutdown – both oppose ‘ObamaCare,’ but not enough for the crazies in their party. Nothing outside of strapping c4 to your body with a dead mans trigger is enough for them.

But at the same time, they’re staying the Republican course and not speaking out against the extremists with whom they share their representative bodies, and trying to figure out how to shift the blame to the other party.

It’s not working well for them, and their social media pages are showing it. I’ve had a fun time looking over the comments picking out some of my favorites. So here are the best ones I found – and one death threat.

First let’s go for Senator Lisa Murkowski

Now, Alaska’s lone Congressmen – Don Young

But personally, I think RuPaul had the best post on the whole shutdown shenanigans.

I sent an email to Boehner asking him to allow a vote on a clean resolution, without defunding the ACA, to allow the goverment to reopen. I urge everyone to do the same. I read there are now sufficient numbers of (R) who will vote for such a bill that along with the (D), the bill would pass – except Boehner isnt’ bringing said bill up for a vote.
A note to Begich thanking him would be good also, that’s my next step.
I might also send a condemnation to M and Y, not that anyone’s opinion would make a hill of beans for Young, he knows what he knows and the H with anyone else.

I had the opportunity to participate in Senator Begich’s teleconference Town Hall tonite. His candor was refreshing.

Alaskans would be well served to bombard Don Young with every possible explanation why his votes with the Tea Party are very bad for us. Ditto for Sen Murkowski. These 2 are playing politics with our lives and our future. Even most of those Alaskans who voted for these 2 had some faith in their intentions to return to DC and represent Alaskans. Afterall, that’s what they said.

These 2 GOP representatives of Alaska have failed us again. How many more times will Alaska let this happen?? n

  3. Ice Gal says:

Surprise! The republicans WORK FOR THE VERY RICH! They do not care if the government functions, if fact it is better for their corporate masters if we have no government at all. Quit voting for people that want to eliminate unions and the middle class. Because if you don’t this country will be a mineral extraction colony, and you can have a toxic waste dump where your house used to be.

  4. wayne says:

How is that a death threat??
It’s an ugly wish. Not a threat. What is the matter with you?

  5. HappyHeathen says:

Don Young doesn’t care. He thinks his job is carved in stone and he has a right to it. Come on Alaska, show him otherwise.

  6. Mo says:

The House Republicans are totally 100% responsible, yet Begich, a Democratic Senator, gets rolled in with them for the blame? How ignorant and stupid are American voters? Very stupid and very deliberately ignorant, indeed.

    • Alaska Pi says:

I wish I could hit the like button 100 times here.
I’m disgusted with Mr Young( nothing new there), tired of Ms Murkowski’s whatever-it-is that she does when she votes lockstep with the Rs but goes on about empathizing with the trials of the lil people (nothing new there either ) but damn proud of Mr Begich for standing firm AND announcing to his constituency that this stoopid shutdown was “totally unnecessary “.
      THAT takes guts here.
I wasn’t sure he had those guts.
      He does.
Good on at least one of our hired mouthpieces.
The other two? Same ole, same ole horsepunky . Pffft!

    • Beaglemom says:

I agree 1000%. i am so tired of people complaining about “Congress” or whining that both parties are to blame. It’s not Congress and it’s not the Democrats, it’s the GOP in Congress. Right now the focus is on the GOP members in the House who are entirely responsible for the shutdown of the federal government. And I’m also very tired of the Republicans members of Congress who tell reporters that they are completely opposed to the ACA (no reasons given, ever) but did not want the government to shut down. THEY VOTED TO DO IT! (This includes my representative, Dr. Dan Benishek of Michigan’s 1st District.)

The Republicans of the 21st century never break ranks, never vote against their own. Their leaders have consistently opposed President Obama since he was first inaugurated in January 2009. Remember their meeting on Inauguration Day? McConnell was determined to make President Obama a one-term president; what does that say about their patriotism, their understanding on their Constitutional duties? Aaagh! I could go on and on but there are better things to do with my day. I hope.
