This week’s panelists were Matt Odom and Daniel Shular. We discussed protecting our gear from airport damage, hashtags and the new Hasselblad 50 megapixel camera. Our bonus topics included a tribute to the recently deceased Bill Cunningham, Tom Hardy in a movie where he plays a war photographer, an exploration of the hidden south and an interesting story about anarcho-communists. Ice Madness: Don’t Just Donate, Brag About It

Dennis Miller, before he turned into a raving right wing lunatic used to have a TV show where he’d start a segment by saying “I don’t want to get off on a rant here but…” He’d then proceed to go on a rant for the next several minutes. So, let me start this by saying… I don’t want to get off on a rant here but, what the hell is wrong with people? I don’t mean everyone, I just mean people that share this meme. The people that are sharing this meme are understandably tired of the ice bucket challenge taking up…

Death Threats, Swear Words and Hostage Negotiations… Alaska’s Republicans on Social Media
Posted by Sebastian Reuter on October 2, 2013 · 8 Comments

But at the same time, they’re staying the Republican course and not speaking out against the extremists with whom they share their representative bodies, and trying to figure out how to shift the blame to the other party. It’s not working well for them, and their social media pages are showing it. I’ve had…

Obama: Alaska Get Your Act Together on LGBT Protections

So do we need a Federal Overreach Summit on Facebook? I’m sure that Gov. Parnell and his crew will be weighing in on their own social media sites soon. But until then – what do you think Alaskans should we listen to the President and actually protect our citizens who happen to be gay from workplace discrimination. (That’s more of a rhetorical question…) Weigh in over at the mudflats facebook – but you can check out the comments here. The comments so far have been relatively calm and not tea-party-ish but I’m sure that Arizona ‘resident’ Sarah Palin will be…

Meanwhile, In Shell’s PR Office…
Posted by Ryan Marquis on January 5, 2013 · 4 Comments
Following the loss of control and subsequent grounding of the Shell drilling rig, Kulluk, that company’s PR team goes to work. Sitting in PR headquarters, mostly silent, members of the PR team wracked their brains trying to find a way to at least mitigate some of the negative publicity being aimed at the corporation. Then it came. One member of the team jumped up and exclaimed, “I’ve got it! Let’s spend some money on Facebook and try to get some extra ‘Likes’ over this whole thing!” And everyone at Shell agreed. The end. ************************************************************************************************* Ryan Marquis lives on Alaska’s…
