Here’s the Face of the Immigration ‘Problem’

I met Umberto in McAllen, Texas. He’s one of the immigrants that Fox News and the right have been claiming are bringing everything from pot to the plague across the southern border.
Truthfully, Umberto is one of the coolest kids I’ve ever met – and I didn’t understand a word he said to me. I’m currently working on getting everything translated. From the moment I met him, he was hamming it up for the camera, grabbing my mic and doing everything from soccer play by play to singing. He mocked me for my shameful lack of Spanish knowledge.
His family spent a week on the road from Central America to arrive in the border town of McAllen, Texas. From there, they’re headed to another Texas town to meet their grandmother.
I’ll have more about Umberto and his family in the coming days, but I just wanted take a moment and put a face to this issue. These are people who just want a better life from countries are being destroyed thanks to NAFTA, and CAFTA, and our need for drugs. So unless we want to remove a statue from the shores of Manhattan, we might want to stick to the pledge.

Slightly OT. Was wondering if you ever heard of Stormfront and why Alaskans seemed to be enamored with white supremacy?Montana,Idaho,Oregon and Alaska are the most involved.

NYT article is haywire though- Alaska is NOT overwhelmingly white.am looking round at some things- next time we get an open thread maybe I’ll know something I can share or someone else will.
