Usually I hear talk of brave soldiers. Or patriotic, or loyal, fearless.
Can’t say when I ever saw soldiers called “sacrificial” before by a politician, who then goes on to basically call Iraq and Afghanistan a petty waste of time/resources.

I really like the tone of this site. It’s full of fun, laughter and rarely mean spirited. I’ve read other blogs, media sites etc and could barely get through the a few of the comments because of the vileness.

Seriously OT– I’m in the Bay area California visiting my mom. She asked what I was doing on the computer (just now). Told her I was reading about this man named Poe, who is running for Governor. She said, oh is “she” running for Governor again. I said, “doubt it, she wants to run for President. ” She said, “oh no! who would want to be vice president with “her.” (lol!!) My mom can’t stand her. So she said, “who would vote for her?” English is my mother’s second language, she doesn’t have a computer, gets her news from television, and knows Palin is one crazy and stupid woman.

Gryphen posted a comment explaining why he cleaned house tonight. Some of the comments were pretty much out of line; giving out personal details on RAM at C4P. He’s reminded us that we weren’t too happy when it was done to AKM, that RAM actually, in her own unique way, backed up AKM with the whole outting by Dugan, and that we should (as Shannyn so elegantly put it earlier) be polite no matter whether we agree or disagree with the palinistas.

I apologize for removing the comments, you all know that I usually let through all of the comments that are not attacking other posters or making disparaging remarks against one of my fellow bloggers.
So today I sort to half way read many of the posts and did not find them terribly offensive, but I missed the fact that they contained a little too much information about our favorite blog administrator over at C4P.
I have NO problem with people speaking out about individuals who have said or done ugly things on the internet, or engaged in character assassination of people on our side of the political divide, but I CANNOT allow the privacy of a private citizen to be breached on this site.
We can attack Ms. Mansour all day over things she says online and she is welcome to do the dame thing back. But her private life, and that of her family, must remain off limits!
She were ALL angered at what Mike Doogan did to AKM just a few short months ago, how hypocritical of us to engage in the very same behaviors.
Having said that I, once again, apologize for deleting your comments and hope that we can be respectful enough from now on that I will never have to do that again in the future.

I’m glad Method was able to get C. Diva a chance to come on the air as well. I’ll bet it was helpful to talk about the situation and sort of release the stress. She did fine. And this gave the local listeners on the radio a chance to hear her side of the story. The local GINO Fans have probably been bad-mouthing her their in AK.
She got to tell her side of the story… and Method gave her the opportunity.
Method….. yeah…. he doesn’t quite have the ‘energy’ as Shannyn, but He does a different kind of Show.

To justafarmer #618..Grandfather Mountain is located in Avery County in the Blue Ridge Parkway on US 221 (2 miles north of Linville; 1 mile south of Blue Ridge Parkway milepost 305). It should be about 3 hrs from Rockingham; maybe a little further.
Grandfather Mountain is a great place. If you google, grandfather mtn, you can get a ton of info about it and the games. The games are usually held in early July…second weekend most times. If you google, Highland Games Grandfather Mtn, you will get dates, cost, events,…

Celtic Diva said (on her blog) that she did not anyone to know where she was going – the e-mails from SP’s cult are that rabid and scary. I would like to see her have protection. And as much as I do not care for SP, I do not think she would condone the threats of her followers. At this point, Eddie Burke, sea4pee and Meg are further hurting SP’s image.

It would be easier using an Ipod to have the station list with iTunes so we could directly download without having to go to a computer. Plus, it would attract even more people. I download all Rachel Maddow and Oberman. The iTunes podcast list grows daily.

A big hit in Florida
Re: June 9 John Kelso column “Court appreciates topless dancers’ form of expression.”
His column on the 3rd Court of Appeals and pole dancing was printed in the Tampa Tribune on June 14. It was hilarious. I got several belly laughs out of it.
Interestingly, we have a guy here in Tampa, Joe Redner, who owns a number of adult clubs. Every election he runs for a local office, usually getting around 20 percent to 25 percent of the vote. I always vote for him.
I’ve never been to his clubs, but he makes good fiscal sense and has good ideas about how to run this place more efficiently. Besides, he’s got so much money he can’t be bribed.
At any rate, last election he was running for City Council and advertised that anyone with an “I voted” sticker on election day could get into his premier club, Mons Venus, for free.
He damn near won.

redwoodmuse, the family is doing amazing well, all things considered. We had months to prepare for this and there was just a sense of relief that Sandy’s passing timeline went from 2-4 weeks on Wednesday to just that fast on Friday.
The only regret was that her passing happened at the hospital hospice instead of at home (which was the plan on Friday, bringing her home)

Writing in alaska… I was only commenting on something someone said about photoshopping, and that Obama has also taken his hits. GINO makes it seem like he never gets it. He got it so prominently that someone lost their job.
That was a fast two hours – and I still have to go down to the basement and finish laundry and bring in the clothes that are now getting rained on.

I worked in radio for years – came to AK to get away from it. I recognized Shannyn, along with people like Steve Heimel, right off, as a special talent, back when she started at KUDO.
This combination – Shannyn & AKM – is going quite well. There’s no two woman combo on the radio in Anchorage I can remember that worked nearly this well. And they’re just getting going.

I do think it is important that they mention how this was something that was directly pointed towards Linda. If they felt obligated to call out people about the issue of photoshopping a special needs child and making it about that, then they would be going after the other sites that are doing the same thing.
BUT let’s not forget that they pointedly made this about “special needs” children rather than “children” because they are hoping for a much bigger negative reaction by claiming it was directed at “special needs” kids.

Nah- it was me- just saw that the show was on (have never listened to it- but I like the way Shannyn and AKM write- very fluid- very incisive. Shot in the dark really- never thought I would get through.
The Larry guy threw a wicked little curve ball there regarding a “supposed” threat from the show to SP. That was quite a shock- hearing it on the phone while waiting to say hello.
I loved SM quick pickup on the misuse of “choosen” v. chosen. Flawless and quicker to the draw than nervous nelly Larry.
If this is what y’all have to deal with on a daily basis (which I suspect may be truer than not, than you have your hands full. Pretzel logic in my book.
Anyway, this Texan applauds the courage and fortitude I have seen displayed in the last few months-

When the Mat-Su Valley was represented by Democrats, they supported education so fully, we naturally named schools after them. Jay’s name is on a college agriculture building. Don Larson’s name is on a grade school. There will not be a Lyda Green, Scott Ogan, Bev Masek, Vic Kohring or Sarah Palin-named educational institution ever up here, if I have anything to do with it.
But I’m not that worried I’ll have to stop THAT from happening.

Off topic, but is anyone else out here in the valley experiencing this crazy thunderstorm? Hail the size of “double peas” or really big blueberries. Thunder, lighting, wow, sounds really cool on the metal roof. We are counting the seconds between lighting strikes and they are really close!

The sky WAS blue and the sun WAS shining in Wasilla until about 25 minutes ago. A huge cumulo-nimbus appeared out of nowhere, and is now drenching the place. I DO hope my painting was dry enough.
And I transplanted dozens of Romaine and other lettuce starters this morning. They’ve survived the downpour, bur another HUGE cloud is headed here from Hatcher Pass. If it brings hail, kiss those tiny lettuces goodbye.
