Sarah Palin – On to a “Higher Calling”
It’s Quittin’ Time here in Alaska. Yes, according to our almost former executive-in-chief, we’re yesterdays news. Tossed like an old banana peel on the compost pile of past political ambition. Cast off like an old peep-toe pump with a broken heel. Jilted. So, why are we so happy? It’s kind of like being dumped by someone who was really bad for you anyway. Sure there are some hurt feelings. Didn’t we measure up? Weren’t we worth fighting for? “It’s not you, it’s me?” What does the Lower 48 have that we don’t? Is it the money? But, you said you…
Palin’s Milllllions of Dollars!
Part of Palin’s reason for quitting the governorship, so she says, is financial. Why should the state be spending “million of dollars” in dealing with “frivolous ethics complaints” and frivolous lawsuits and just general…frivolity? Heck, according to the governor, the frivolity takes up 80% of the administration’s time these days. And that’s a lot! Think for a moment what we could be doing with that money. We could be funding the State Troopers! No, we haven’t really done that before, but we could do it now. We could fund teachers! OK, we wanted to cut that stimulus money for education,…
Numbers Shmumbers…
“In the past two years, the state of Alaska has spent millions of dollars processing ethics complaints, public records requests, and related lawsuits.” That was the claim coming from the office of Governor Sarah Palin, who likes to use the phrase “frivolous ethics complaints.” That was nine days ago. Today, we learn that “millions of dollars” is in fact, actually $296,000, as far as ethics complaints go. Numbers shmumbers. The complete breakdown is not yet available, but we do know this about the three spendiest ones: $187,797 stemmed from the Troopergate investigation, a good chunk of which Palin initiated herself….
Brother Can You Spare $600,000?
$600,000. That’s the growing pile of legal debt that Sarah Palin claims to have incurred since last summer. We don’t actually know that for a fact, nor do we know how these legal bills are itemized, or even for whom, because like so many things in the Palin administration, (leaning over and whispering in your ear) it’s super secret. But, that’s OK. We’re not going to worry our pretty little heads about stuff like that. This mountain of debt is blamed, of course, on ethics complaints, and those who file them. “Ohhhh! They’re trying to bankrupt the governor! See, none…
Palin Ethics Complaint Dismissed.
Regarding this latest ethics complaint against Gov. Sarah Palin to be dismissed, filer Andree McLeod says that “her publicly funded partisan and publicly funded state staff and resources for personal partisan political purposes that have nothing to do with the state’s interests and everything to do with her personal, extremely partisan political Washington, D.C., beltway interests.” The Personnel Board disagrees. Here’s part of the latest press release from the governor’s office. Please note the naming of a private citizen in the title of the release, and the disclosure of the employment history of that private citizen as it relates to state…
“Alaska Fund Trust” – It’s the New SarahPAC!
SarahPAC is so….yesterday. All the cool kids are now throwing their hard-earned money to Alaska Fund Trust! Campaign Solutions, the Republican consulting firm running the show at SarahPAC has dropped the PAC like a hot potato “parted ways” with Sarah Palin’s political action committee, whose first financial disclosure we can look forward to in June. This news came the day after an ethics complaint was filed against the governor alleging that the contractual relationship between the Governor and SarahPAC is a violation of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act. The group had been working with the Palin operation to raise money for SarahPAC…
