Snidely Whiplash Does the Happy Dance!
(Imagine a hilariously funny graphic that sadly doesn’t exist, of Snidely Whiplash doing a happy dance here) This just in…. Ethics complaint #12 (that we know of) against Sarah Palin which alleged that SarahPAC, the governor’s political action committee was itself a violation of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act was dismissed today. The .pdf of the Personnel Board’s decision, via Independent Counsel Tom Daniel is HERE ethicscomplaintdismissal The board stated that there was no basis to conclude that the Governor used her office to create the PAC. So, this ethics complaint that was filed on April 22 has been…
Palin Cancels Friday Night Date With Dog Barbecueing Jew Counter.
You know….sometimes when I type headlines, I really really wish they weren’t true. I cannot emphasize enough how much that is the case in this instance. No matter how much I bang my head on the desk, this guy just won’t go away. First let me start with a disclaimer. Perhaps I should have said “former dog barbecueing jew counter” because those things happened a long time ago. So, you know… if you’re inclined, you can just move beyond that fact and let bygones be bygones. Hey, we all did crazy stuff in our youth. I’m sure there are many former dog…
Open Thread – The Legend of Sleeping Lady

It may be helpful to leave this post open and just minimize it. That way it can stay there as an active tab at the bottom of your screen that you can refer to quickly…
Rural Update from Ann Strongheart in Nunam Iqua
What a year it has been so far! First, we have our brave, courageous, and selfless Elder Nick Tucker of Emmonak. Nick’s letter brought to light the crisis of not only Emmonak but also many Bush villages. Then, wonderful Mudpups, bloggers and generous people across the nation and around the world stepped in to help get Dennis Zaki to Emmonak. About that time, I found The Mudflats blog and the magnanimous Mudpups who wanted to help. The disastrous lack of a salmon run on the Yukon and across Alaska led to a crisis of tremendous proportions. Then an early freeze…
Ethics Complaints Against Sarah Palin – A Drama in an Undisclosed Number of Acts.
Well ethics complaints seem to be the theme of the day. In an article on Politico, the number of ethics complaints against the Palin administration (12 or 13 that we know of) was described as “unusual”. I don’t think many would dispute that. This means one of two things. 1) The number of ethics complaints is a function of a whole lot of politically motivated people who have decided to create a string of bogus ethics complaints for the sole reason of taking down the governor because they hate her and they’re just bad bad people. 2) The number of ethics…
Ethics Complaints and the Power of Precognition
The Daily News in an op-ed piece yesterday said something interesting. Alaska citizens have a right to file ethics complaints against their elected representatives. State law guarantees it. But when Alaskans use the ethics law to score political points, they abuse that right — and may put it at risk. Score political points? Abuse their rights as citizens? Wow. That’s a fairly strong accusation. And it makes the assumption, of course, that the complaints are frivolous, and without merit. It sounds like something we ought to know. But how do we determine if the complaints are indeed frivolous? Well, we could…
