Open Thread – Alaska Republicans Not for Sarah Palin
Sorry for the belated open thread! Here’s another in the Alaska Women Not for Sarah Palin series, whcih I’ll have to figure out how to end eventually. I probably have enough pictures to last a year, even if I didn’t quit half way through! This one I thought was interesting, because nobody has ever done more to divide the Republican Party in Alaska than Sarah Palin. It’s not just those on the left that don’t want anything to do with her. Just sayin.
Open Thread – The Value of Exxon 20 Years Later
I thought this was interesting. Here’s what’s happened to Exxon stock from 1988 to the present. The Exxon Valdez oil spill is indicated by the red arrow. The fact that you otherwise wouldn’t be able to tell is somewhat amazing. (h/t Mudflatter Soapy)

Ted __e_ne__ International Airport?
[Oops! This was scheduled to robo-post last weekend and it never did! Better late than never…] It looks like Massachusetts is already seeking to name public buildings and landmarks after Senator Ted Kennedy. While this is not surprising, I’d like to point out that there are already many “Kennedy” monuments sprinkled all over the East Coast. There is even talk of renaming Boston’s Logan International Airport “Kennedy-Logan International Airport.” I’d like to propose an alternative solution, since there is already an East Coast “Kennedy Airport” in New York City. You see, we have a very nice airport here in Anchorage, which…
Open Thread – Moment of Zen
I woke up Sunday morning to this sight – a mixture of morning fog, and smoke from a cabin’s wood burning stove. It only lasted about five minutes, but it was absolutely riveting, watching the smoke and mist swirl and begin to burn off in the morning sun.
Open Thread – Labor Day
We are often reminded to remember the “true meaning of Christmas.” But, we’re not often reminded to remember the “true meaning of Labor Day.”
Seen at the Alaska State Fair
Just in case anyone had any lingering doubts about what the anti-Obama rhetoric means. Wonder how many of these we can expect to see driving around?
Tune in to Countdown w/ Keith Olbermann Tonight! Shannyn Moore Live in the NY Studio.
Well, we’ve arrived in the Big Apple, and my travel companion, Shannyn Moore will be appearing on Keith Olbermann’s show tonight, live from the NBC studios at 30 Rock. It was a great train ride from Boston to Penn Station, passing by some beautiful Connecticut coastline, and little harbor towns. There was tall grass and white sand, egrets and herons and gulls, people sailing and fishing and cute little and not-so-little beach houses. Several times I looked for one of those little pull ropes, or thought about yelling “Stop the train!” I’ve spent quite a bit of time in New…
