The Least of Sarah Palin’s Problems

By Ken Morris (Co-author with Frank Bailey and Jeanne Devon of Blind Allegiance to Sarah Palin “My problem is I do have the fire in my belly…” ~Sarah Palin discussing a run for U.S. President with Fox News host Greta Van Susteren, May 19, 2011 Where to begin? After about 18 months of living in the rabbit hole of Sarah Palin’s head while co-authoring Blind Allegiance to Sarah Palin—insider Frank Bailey’s factual account of being side-by-side with the candidate, then half-term governor and failed vice presidential candidate—I listened to the above quoted interview in dismay. It wasn’t because of the…

Open Thread – Blind Allegiance Eve!

Get ready! Blind Allegiance to Sarah Palin is about to hit the shelves tomorrow. Even though you can’t get your hands on it yet, the books have made their way into the secretive back rooms of bookstores across the land. For the next 24 hours, the Swiss Guard, jacked up on triple lattes, will be standing vigilant, with saucer eyes and hair trigger reflexes, ready to spring into action to prevent any unlawful purchasing or peeking. OK, not really. But you still can’t get a copy until tomorrow because of the “strict on sale date” of May 24. I am…

Sarah Palin and Greta Van Susteren – Reflections of a “Hateful Blogger”

By Jeanne Devon She will run, she won’t run, she will, she won’t, she will…   Everyone is weighing in. Everyone is asking. Hints are being dropped. Money is being raked. And yes, I believe that Sarah Palin is getting ready to inflict herself upon the nation once again. The national spotlight beckons to her like yummy brains to a zombie. (Here, you can imagine her doing a robot walk with stiff knees and arms stretched out muttering “Must…Have…Attention…”) But before the official announcement is tweeted to the world, the ‘lamestream’ media must do its due diligence and feel around…

The Real Tragedy of Sarah Palin

This piece is cross-posted at The Huffington Post – HERE. From the moment Sarah Palin’s acceptance speech electrified the Republican convention, she was seen as an unbending, hard-charging, red-meat ideologue—to which soon was added “thin-skinned” and “vindictive.” But a look at what Palin did while in office in Alaska—the only record she has—shows a very different politician: one who worked with Democrats to tame Big Oil and solve the great problem at the heart of the state’s politics. That Sarah Palin might have set the nation on a different course. What went wrong? This is the intriguing premise set forth…

The Fight Is Not Over: 20 Thousand Rally At Wisconsin State Capitol.

By Patrick DePula Madison, WI. The sky was gray, the temperature below 50, and the wind brisk.  Perfect Wisconsin protesting weather.  Nearly 20,000 people came out to the capitol last Saturday to protest the Walker Administrations’ war on the middle class.   You’d never know that the Wisconsin Uprising continues if you get your news from the mainstream media. The rally opened with music by PurgAtory Hill, an intense and otherworldly Sturgeon Bay duo consisting of grammy-nominated Pat mAcdonald, and his partner MelanieJane. Pat dedicated the song “Reset” to resetting Wisconsin government. Essentially, PurgAtory Hill has taken delta blues, amped it up…

Oyster Roundup – Shuck ’em!

~Thick and fast they came at last, and more, and more, and more! Grab your metaphorical cocktail sauce and belly up to the oyster bar for some tasty news nuggets from Alaska and beyond… Bigfoot Goes to Ketchikan? Stop the presses! Mysterious shaggy grey ape-like creature almost clearly spotted through foliage and almost conclusively captured on shaky video by breathless videographer! Is it or isn’t it? You can watch the video yourself and make the call. This is the first time a Bigfoot has been spotted in Ketchikan, and only the 22nd such sighting in Alaska.  And frankly, I think…

Tina Fey Returns!

For those of you who missed the mock 2012 GOP Candidates Who Haven’t Declared Yet skit on Saturday Night Live last night, enjoy! Tina Fey is back, resplendent in red blazer, life-sized flag pin, and the admiration of… Donald Trump. Sometimes I think it would be worth it to have Palin in the race, just for the entertainment value from Ms. Fey alone.

Oyster Roundup!

~Thick and fast they came at last, and more, and more, and more! Derby Day! That’s right. Today with your plate of tasty oyster news nuggets, you can also enjoy a mint julep. (pause while that sinks in) OK, maybe not the best combination, but you understand my metaphorical drift. It should be an interesting race today. There are 19 horses in this year’s race, and there’s a great summary in the Wall Street Journal (linked above) for those of you looking for a quick primer. It’s been a long, strange trail to the 137th Kentucky Derby, which gets underway…

Palin Pulls a Palin… again.

~Palin in the headlights at the MSNBC after party So, who is the most influential journalist in America today?  Not an easy question, perhaps. It’s one that requires some knowledge of who the journalists today are. And if you’re on camera, and a politico or media type, it might also require a little diplomatic forethought.  And if you decided that you didn’t want to answer the question for fear of alienating all the journalists you don’t mention, it might require some fast-on-your-feet poise as you gracefully deflect the question with a bit of humor subtly indicating that you don’t want…
